He sure ain't Whimpy --- But, HOW OUT OF TOUCH can John Quaglione be ???

Maybe, he's a crackerjack "Communications Director"  ---  OR  ---  Maybe, he might do a decent job as an Almost-Chief-of-Staff  ---  But, for sure he's not fit to give out useful dining & food advice to the people of Southwest Brooklyn

Here's something that the Quagmeister recently Retweeted:  "....  These days it can be hard to find a good burger in Brooklyn for less than $15 — before toppings..." (See "John Quaglione @JQuaglione"  3/14/17,  Twitter  [https://twitter.com/JQuaglione/status/841826535405424643]).

Really, I didn't know that....  In fact, based on my own recent experiences, I believe it NOT TO BE TRUE.

I often have meals at two or three of the places that are reputed to have "the best burgers in Bay Ridge"  ---  and, except for one where I almost always have a burger, I usually have some other protein dish off the other establishments' "Daily Specials" menu, but I also almost always look at and consider some version of each one's burger choices.  And, come to think of it, you can add to the list of those places, a little joint that purports to be a gourmet burger restaurant.

"$15... before toppings..."  ---  NO, I DON'T THINK SO.

If JQ doesn't know the value of a burger, how can he know the value of a buck ???  And if somebody doesn't know what's a good buy and what isn't, how can they be an effective representative of the people ???

  1. It should send a pretty strong message to John Quaglione that the conservative party and the guy who sits next to him at Marty Goldens office are with McCabe when several of the Long family donated to McCabe...and Kassar asked Gerry Obrien to work for McCabe...Q needs to smell the coffee andd get out..

  2. In a few hours Capanos disclosures will be the talk. Not some $175 contribution McCabe got.

  3. What deals are happening in Marty-Kassar land..i hear Julianne Cuba is ready to blow the lid off the awkward situation in Marty G's office..
    Lets see:
The Conservative Party led by Marty Goldens chief of staff in all outward signs backing Liam McCabe.

Quaglione, Martys deputy chief of staff, sits next to Kassar, feels like odd man out.

Kassars best friend Gerry Obrien working for McCabe.

One awkward mess that will be exposed very publicly very soon for all to see that will show Republicans across the city and state the little deals that are made to keep Marty Golden and only Marty Golden the elected Brooklyn Republican.

  4. Bob Capano is showing that he raised only $14,000 since his last anemic fundraising disclosure. I guess this conclusively settles the dispute regarding whether or not he really had over 175 people at the Bean Post.

  5. 14k is fake news.

    Nice try Q

  6. CFB shows Capano with a grand total of $26,516, with fewer than 190 donors.

Not sure how many are his Staten Island neighbors.

    ReplyDelete
  7. To 8:20 NYCCFB Website not fake news. Try looking it up.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yes according to NYCCFB, Bob leads the pack in donations from Staten Island residents.

    ReplyDelete
  9. A closer look at the Capano disclosures show Bob has the highest percentage of contributions that will be matched this summer by the CFB. Plus Bob has enlisted top notch talent to run his campaign as volunteers. Anyone can hire a paid consultant.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The problem with Bob's top knotch volunteers is that none of them were smart enough to suggest putting the office he's running for on Bob's posters.

Perhaps a professional was called for, after all.

  11. UPDATE: THE "WHOA --- LOOK AT THAT MYSTERIOUS ??? 'ARAB? - CHURCH? - NON-PROFIT? -OTHER?' MONEY COME IN FOR REVEREND EL-YATEEM" EDITION

KHADER EL-YATEEM KNOCKS THE SOCKS OFF HIS FELLOW DEMOCRATS WITH A VERY IMPRESSIVE FIRST HAUL OF $81,611

CAPANO UNDERWHELMS FRIENDS AND FOES ALIKE WITH ONLY $15,149 IN HIS MOST RECENT FUNDRAISING

THE EARLY LEAD BY MC CABE HOLDS AMONG GOP CANDIDATES --- BUT BRANNAN'S DISAPPEARED WHEN EL-YATEEM FILED

As of 1:00 PM today, the data base at the NYC Campaign Finance Board website showed the following ---
For the Republicans: Liam McCabe STILL IN THE LEAD AMONG REPUBLICANS with $45,420; Bob Capano next with $26,516, and that's $15,149 up from his previously reported $11,367 in the prior reporting period; and, so far, John Quaglione is still on-the-record as last with $0.00.

For the Democrats: Justin Brannan now with $73,430.17, up from $57,385 in the prior reporting period; Kevin Peter Carroll still on-the-record with $0.00; Nancy Tong, apparently unchanged, with with $4,170; Khader El-Yateem, so far the big hitter, reporting $81,611.00 (not bad for a first-time filer); and Peter Abbate still with no listing in the NYCCFB data base.

  12. Capano looks like he's going to be behind in the numbers game. That means his plan of not scaring-off primary opponents appears to be working like a finely machined and assembled Swiss chronometer with a classic seventeen jewel movement.

Bob, it's time to hock the watch and put the money into your campaign, because Liam McCabe is already actively campaigning by doing robo-calls that are even reaching out to some Democrats and he is using the Post's Sarsour-El-Yateem story to raise funds.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Bob, save your money and run for Staten Island Borough President.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Russ Gallo's small cult of followers does not a smart volunteer team make for Bob Capano. Bob should either hire professionals or drop out before he gets embarrassed. He has been running for over a year and he has raised half as much as Liam. Ten donations make up half of what Bob has raised and no one is impressed with a bunch of small donations from Staten Island.

  15. OBSERVATION: THE "WHAT ABOUT JQ" EDITION

THIS COMMENTS THREAD FOLLOWS A POST ABOUT JOHN QUAGLIONE --- NONETHELESS, ONLY THREE OUT OF THE FIRST FOURTEEN COMMENTS ON THIS THREAD EVEN MENTIONED JOHN QUAGLIONE

My notion that John Quaglione has difficulty reaching out and touching people (by socially acceptable and legal means) gets confirmed over and over again. Sometimes, it's his bad use of the language; other times it's his off-the-wall ideas about things, both in particular and in general. My recent research shows that, maybe, his use of social media is Quaglione's biggest shortcoming; quite apart from some of his just plain quirky messages, Quaglione's social media footprint shows no particular theme or pattern. Most of all Scooter JQ looks like he's running here and running there, running-running everywhere, but nobody can tell what all of the running around is all about.

Somebody who's running for public office should look, act and sound right for the office he or she is seeking. Quaglione always looks, acts and sounds like he's running to be a guest at somebody else's event; that's true even if the event just happens to be featuring Mr. Quaglione in some way.

  16. GM I think your next post should be about the fiasco that is becoming of the once promising Bob Capano Campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  17. No mystery to what John "I copy everything Liam does" Quaglione is up to.

Quag is waiting for Liam to file so he can file a few bucks more and say hes in first place. Q reminds me of those contestants on The Price is Right who would guess $1 higher then the previous contestant. Didn't you just hate those people?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I've read this piece and it never tells us where the best burger is. Where is it?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Even if Q shows a dollar less raised than the top Republican it should be a huge disappointment. After all the fancy packaging and posturing, Liam has been a bartender and worked various blue collar jobs to support himself until a few years ago when he got taken care of by the Conservatives. Bob is a Supermarket Manager, nothing wrong with that, but Supermarket managers don't tend to accumulate a huge rolodex of heavy hitting fundraisers. Q on the other hand has worked for one of the most powerful politicians in the State for literally all of his adult life. If he can't raise more money than a former bartender and a supermarket manager he is in way more trouble than we thought.

  20. THE BURGER.

THE POSTING WAS ABOUT THE BEST BURGER IN BAY RIDGE. WHERE IS IT?

    ReplyDelete
  21. RESPONSE: THE "NOW YOU PUT ME ON THE SPOT" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 12:09 PM" AND "... AT 1:31 PM"

I'M TALKIN' BURGERS HERE AND I'M LIMITING MYSELF TO BAY RIDGE

I'm not sure which place has the inside track on actually having the "BEST BURGER"..... Several places have claimed the title and only one of them can be right.

Whenever I'm in the mood for a burger, I always think of Pippin's first..... I know that Skinflints has a pretty good burger, but I almost always have a taste for something else once I get there. Same story for the Kettle B; when I'm there to eat, and it isn't for brunch, I'm doing beers and trays of wings. I've always had a good time at the Burger Bistro; and it must be the nifty burgers, because they only have bottled beer.

Several local diners also have good burger offerings and the best of those is..... [NO, I'll moderate this part of this comment because I'm friends with servers and/or owners of more than one of them.]

  22. UPDATE: THE "QUAGLIONE NUMBER" EDITION

    JQ'S NUMBER --- $42,901.42 --- IS RESPECTABLE AND COMPETITIVE

CAPANO HAS FRITTERED AWAY ANY "EARLY LEAD" AND/OR MOMENTUM THAT HE MIGHT HAVE HAD TWO WEEKS AGO

"THEY'RE OFF AND CAPANO IS OFF THE PACE HEADING INTO THE FIRST TURN"

Both Will/Liam McCabe and John Quaglione did some real heavy lifting with their first fund raising events; Capano must be trying to show that he has been saving his energy for the long pull.....

    ReplyDelete
  23. Gail, it's time to stop drinking the Capano Kool-Aid

    ReplyDelete
  24. To 2:28 Completely agree. Capano Kool Aid expired while Marty Markowitz was still Borough President.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If its all about money then please welcome councilman El-Yateem

    ReplyDelete
  26. All republicans and dems will max out in matching funds..whether it happens in March or July it doesnt matter

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thats another thing about Capano. Why should anybody be impressed with him working for markowitz? A useless office with useless staff. Liam produced for constituents. Capano got a paycheck for a no show job he showed up for. I guess somebody has to come in third place.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The issue for Capano is that he has a team of amateurs hoisted on him by Russ and Gene (who themselves have abandoned Brooklyn) and no one remembers that he lived in Bay Ridge six years ago and no one is buying that he lives here now because he rented an apartment a couple of months ago.

    ReplyDelete
  29. To 2:33. Bad comparison. El-Yateem's most serious rivals either have more money (Abbate) or a few thousand less (Brannan). Bob has been running for over a year works for a billionaire and has half the money of Liam, who declared a couple of months ago.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Brilliant move by Capano..lull his rep opponents before he can raise $50,000 in one event and all is good..

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mccabe and Quaglione are now all maxed out...capano has just begun..he rather have the fundraising top numbers in July rather than March dont u thinkm

    Ahahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  32. To 3:09. Are you serious? July of what year is a better question. Let me guess the cold weather is preventing Bay Ridgites from recognizing or remembering Bob Capano, and the cold weather disorients them to the point they don't remember where they keep their checkbooks. July!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. 2:51 you obviously don't know that Bobby C does have pros on his team like Rob Ryan and Gene Berardelli.

    ReplyDelete
  34. To 3:02. Bob hasn't been able to raise even $5,000 in one fundraiser and that's after campaigning for a year but somehow he is going to raise $50,000 in one fundraiser, yea don't bet on that outcome.

    ReplyDelete
  35. To 3:24 Gene is a pro at something maybe but winning campaigns is not one of them since he hasn't won a campaign yet, and the last time Rob Ryan won a campaign the internet hadn't been invented yet. On the other hand neither of them lives in Brooklyn anymore so I guess they blend in well with the Capano candidacy.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Uhm..rob ryan lives in Brooklyn. .more fake news..
I cant wait for Capano to expose the whole Golden -Kassar deals to prevent another Republican from getting elected. The only ones who dont know it is Quaglione and McCabe..Liam ask yourself why is Quaglione even in this of they wanted the Republican and Conservative parties united behind you..its a ploy..and Obrien is a part of it..h3 gets a check from you, makes believe he is with you, but is getting his orders from somewhere else..ask Capanos 2009 campaign!

    ReplyDelete
  37. To 3:45 I guess one out of three living in Brooklyn aint bad.

    ReplyDelete
  38. People please stop making excuses for the dreaded Capano Campaign 2009, that is what exposed Bay Ridge not being a Republican stronghold anymore, awful candidate horrendous campaign on every level. Oh and to 3:45, apparently Bob Ryan lives in Brooklyn Heights, far cry from Bay Ridge but at least you didn't dispute that Gene has never won a campaign and the last time Bob Ryan was on a winning campaign the internet hadn't been invented yet.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The Golden scam will be taken down in this council primary. .the end of the Golden, Kassar reign IS going to end and be exposed one way or the other

    ReplyDelete
  40. For 3:45, did Gerry O'Brien act as a double agent for the Russians in 2008 when Alec Brook Krasny crushed Bob Capano in that election too? Your pitiful excuses are what is actually fake news.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Liam..keep paying Obrien his $1,750 per month plus whatever he doesn't tell you he is taking out of your mailings as he is coordinating with Q's people to ensure none of u win

    ReplyDelete
  42. 4:23 In two months Liam raised DOUBLE what Bob has raised in over a year of fundraising, I guess hiring O'Brien is an expense he can afford to take.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Based on the latest filings Bob should have squeezed a few more nickels out of those 200 people who jam packed the Bean Post for his fundraiser....just saying.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I support Liam bur Obrien is answering to others besides McCabe. .hopefully Liam realizes that soon. Obrien is using McCabe to get back in good graces with Golden and the Senate Majority. .Golden does NOT want another republican to win and therefore whatever BS logic and strategy Obrien gives McCabe it will be about making sure he nor any other Republican wins even if Liam does not realize it

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think it's time for Capano to fold his campaign into Liam's so Liam and QUaglione can fight Mano a Mano. Capano has been running for this seat since last summer and he hasn't cracked $5,000? At least he didn't waste any money moving to Bay Ridge. He should just pack up his sleeping bag and stop sleeping on his mommy's couch. It's over, Bobby

    ReplyDelete
  46. Capano is now officially the third wheel

    - and -

Justin is no longer a player

    ReplyDelete
  47. My prediction is Quaglione vs. Brannan in November

    ReplyDelete
  48. keep dreaming justin

    ReplyDelete
  49. Abbate will steamroll his rivals in the Democratic Primary, easily winning the nomination, leading Brannan to cry about how he wishes his part of Bay Ridge had its very own council seat, much like he did when Pam Harris handed his candidate a beat down in the last primary. McCabe will win the Republican Primary by a surprisingly large than expected margin and the Conservatives will try to stab him in the back in a deal with Abbate much like they did with Storobin a couple of times.

  55. 8:21 hit the nail on the head. Russ and Gene's vendettas are far, wide, and vast but only have been hurting Bob Capano and no one else.

    ReplyDelete
  56. above has the "wide" part right. Russ, Gene, Bob are a bunch of wide bodies.
