FLASH UPDATE --- OR MAYBE IT’S A JUST A PTSD FLASHBACK: THE “BACK TO THE FUTURE” EDITION

BROOKLYN GOP “JOINT OPERATIONS FIELD OFFICE” OPENS IN DYKER HEIGHTS --- MC CABE & QUAGLIONE MAKE A JOINT APPEARANCE WITH A FEW OTHERS

Is the March 13th article by John Alexander in the Brooklyn Eagle just a cut-and-paste job of something that I read in there a few years ago about Chairman Craig Eaton, Senator Marty Golden, Brooklyn Young Republicans and all their well-known acolytes opening a Brooklyn GOP headquarters ? ? ?

This is my favorite part of the recent article: “…. State Sen. Marty Golden attended along with City Council hopefuls Liam McCabe and John Quaglione...." I wonder if Golden declared his favorite or he put his arms around both of them like a proud old dad.

At any rate, this proves that there's REAL LIFE in the Brooklyn Republican organization; and that in 2017 the GOP, united behind the Ghorra-Golden team, will certainly sweep back into its formerly commanding position in Brooklyn politics --- nothing like the primary and general elections disasters of 2013,  when there was a split in Brooklyn's Grand Old Party between the Golden and the Eaton factions.

  1. Trump got the lowest vote of any GOP candidate in history. He may be to republicans what Obama was to Democrats.

  2. Poor McCabe and Quaglione dont even realize they are just pawns in the deal between Golden, Kassar, Obrien and the Democrats. I promise you they will make sure there is a different candidate on the Conservative line than whoever wins the primary to try and assure an Abbate win..it will be hard for them to do this once the NY Post exposes it very soon..

  3. Gail, are you being serious or is this post you being sarcastic?

  4. Fran Vella Marrone has filed as a candidate with the NYC CFB

  5. 4:47 is doing some serious drugs. So much, that he forgot to include Queen Elizabeth and the Fremasons. Neither of them could ever pass up such an elaborate (and dastardly) conspiracy!

  6. By any chance is Fran an attorney? :-)

  7. She's more of an attorney than Beradelli, regardless of the answer to 7:19.

  8. GM, we already know that the turnout for the new GOP Office was even more abysmal than expected. We are all patiently waiting for you to do an expose on what went wrong with Bob Capano's campaign. Talk about something that never took off.

  9. Everyone knows whatever campaign Craig Eaton is involved with is the kiss of death...this one is proving to be no different.

  10. How do you print a campaign poster without mentioning what office you're running for?

Maybe Bob isn't running for City Council after all -- he's a stealth candidate against Ghorra for chair.

  11. The dems own this seat.

  12. Folks, Fran Vella is running. It's just a matter of when she will announce. I heard tonight that she is planning a big kick off fundraiser at Dyker Golf course catering hall.

  13. Fran V's candidacy isn't for real, but she might have the inside track to be the Conservative Party nominee. There is one very OBVIOUS explanation for this paradox. Hint, at least three guys really won't like it at all.

  14. I hear that Jim McCall us planning to throw his hat into the ring

  15. No, I think he is afraid that it would blow away.

  16. Poor McCabe, Capano and Quaglione don't even realize they are just pawns in the deal between the men in the room. Golden, Kassar, Gerry O and the Democrats. I promise you they will make sure there is a different candidate on the Conservative line than whoever wins the primary and that candidate may very well be none other than Fran Vella

  17. Gene and Russ, you keep mentioning conspiracies, but forget to include Queen Elizabeth and the Freemasons. Those two are the real power. Wait til Buckingham Palace forces the Conservative Party to nominate Harold English for City Council.

  18. Gene and Russ, neither of them live in Brooklyn anymore but just like Bob they Have no idea people didn't remember them or care about what they thought while they were living here let alone now.

  19. I remeber Russ, he was a god guy and a hard worker. Who is Gene?

    ReplyDelete
  20. There are Genes everywhere, I'm pretty sure most living things have them, I'm almost certain that everybody I know has them.

  21. To 11:01, yea you remember Russ but not Gene...likely story.

  22. Gail, all this Russ and Gene conversation seems very old.
Years and years ago people like Lucretia Potter, Jonathan Judge, Glenn Nocera and even you ranked on R & G all the time, because Russ and Gene were with Craig Eaton and Marty Golden. Then Eaton had his split with Marty, and you right away became friends with Eaton , Russ and Gene, and broke with Lucretia and Glenn.
Now, you're with Capano and don't point out that, other than you, Capano's only supporters are from the Gallo, Berradelli, Eaton faction in the Brooklyn Republicans, along with Catsimadtidis and some of his people from the 2013 campaign. That's not surprising since Eaton, Gallo and Berradelli supported Catsimatidis in 2013 and Catsimatidis bankrolled the Brooklyn GOP.

  23. Russ and Gene no longer live in Brooklyn.

  24. RESPONSE: THE "WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT WHAT I DON'T KNOW ABOUT" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 1:15 PM" AND VARIOUS OTHERS TO WHOM IT MIGHT CONCERN

I do agree that "... all this Russ and Gene conversation seems very old...." However, what these old-sounding messages about "R & G" mean in the context of today's polity probably are completely different in meaning and intent than the similar sounding older messages --- then again, maybe not, since I really don't know.

As for the shifting alliances or associations in the Brooklyn GOP over the years, some of it happened the way most people think that it did, but a lot did not. My part in any of it was usually obvious at the time; but sometimes, I was really somewhere in the middle and all sides had notions that I was with them, or occasionally all sides thought that I was against them.

To that extent, I think that things really haven't changed that much; although, as is often the case in any three-sided game, any leaning whatsoever is usually away from at least one of the sides..... In any case, all of that can change very quickly.

  25. The post above about Eaton being the kiss of death, dont you recall that Eaton got Bob Turner elected to Congress, David Storobin elected to the State Senate, Malliotakis to the State Assembly? These were all done during his tenure...lets stop being stupid here and at least state the facts....the facts are the facts and they speak for themsleves
