John Quaglione just did the quirkiest “roll-out” of a campaign I’ve ever seen --- just a naked Facebook post and an E-mail --- no run-up, no event, no fanfare --- AND --- minimal impact
Here’s the long and the short of it from JQ:
“I am excited to announce that I am entering the 2017 race for
New York City Council's 43rd District, which encompasses Bay Ridge, Dyker
Heights, Bath Beach and Bensonhurst. I wanted you to be among the first to know
that I have begun the process of filing the necessary paperwork and will
officially launch my campaign soon.
Over the last couple of months, many people have encouraged me
to enter this year's race. I am grateful for this indication of early support
which was so important to the campaign when I ran
four years ago. Many of you may remember what I said then, and I will say it
again now, because I still believe that we can do better.
I will soon begin to outline my vision to improve and make our
community stronger for all of us. But I can not do this alone and that is why I
hope you will join my team. I know this is going to be a great campaign!”

John Quaglione got 34% of the vote last time in an embarrassing landslide loss the kind of which no other Republican in the history of Bay Ridge city council elections had seen before. His rationale for running is weaker than Bob Capano's. But the conservatives won't leave a penny off the table and will make sure they can squeeze every last nickel out of McCabe and Quaglione. That's the only reason they convinced John to run again even with Liam in the race, it is all about the money for them. No job left behind...
ReplyDeleteMcCabe obviously threatened John and didnt want Marty Golden folks jumping to McCabe
ReplyDeleteQuaglione is the ultimate establishment candidate.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it say about the Republican "establishment" that the last time John Quaglione ran he didn't have a primary opponent and still got crushed losing by almost 40 points?
ReplyDeleteIf its a 3 way race Quag comes in third place.
ReplyDeleteIf a 4th candidate runs Quag comes in 4th place.
Paul Massey Mayoral race will be the November surprise
ReplyDeleteQuag broke the record for being the GOP biggest loser. Haven't we had enough?
ReplyDeleteBy Quaglione running & losing big to McCabe & Capano- it will really be an embarassment to Marty Golden
ReplyDeleteCapano and McCabe are both poor candidates, but Quaglione's scumbag move of announcing the same day as Liam to steal his thunder makes them a thousand times more appealing than Q.
ReplyDeleteMarty Golden doesn't care who wins as long as he gets a piece of the pie. Even if Capano wins they will make a deal with him. Already the conservatives are trying to string Capano along that they are going to help him. The best thing that can happen for the Republican party to have any chance of winning seats is freeing itself from the chains of the conservatives. They talk about Republican candidates not being conservative enough and then give their line to David Greenfield. The jig is up.

ReplyDeleteI don't disagree with you but considering the people advising him I'm surprised he didn't link negative articles about Bob and Liam and hurl a few personal insults at the end of his announcement.
Well if Quaglione did this today to screw McCabe, I guess it is no longer a mystery whos sent those anonymous emails atttacking McCabe & Capano... I assume we can all at least agree on that!!

UPDATE: THE "PS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteI GUESS I HAVE TO TAKE BACK THAT "MINIMAL IMPACT" REMARK IN THE SUB-HEADING OF MY MAIN POST ABOVE
JOHN QUAGLIONE'S ANNOUNCEMENT IS WELL BEYOND "MINIMAL IMPACT"
Enough said !!!
Scumbag move by quaglione
ReplyDeleteThe only problem with Quaglione's candidacy is that Georgia has to remain in constant possession of the sacred talisman that keeps him animate. Without it, he reverts back to a block of wood.
ReplyDeleteThe problem here is the fact that Golden's chief of staff and puppeteer is Kassar....and they control what Golden says and does, because quite frankly he is illiterate without them. So now you have McCabe who is Kassars boy and Q who is Marty's boy running against each other. What a disgrace. Cant Golden and Kassar even talk this out and agree on one of them? They will pull from the same exact group of people. This is why having the Cons Pty Kings County Chair as your chief of staff is the wrong move. They are all whores and will get what they deserve in the end. John, you are a nice young man. Look at all of your friends who attended Liam's big shabang last night. Doesn't that tell you something? You are surrounded by back stabbing pieces of _ _ _ _. You should have learned a long time ago that Golden is a back stabber....and is not loyal to anyone but the almighty dollar.
ReplyDeleteI even saw a picture of Ted Ghorra at the event..what is it with his look? He always poses for the camera in that same funny way.....very strange dude.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear that a lot of people say he has a very large ego.....but for what?
Hasn't he figured out that he is just a puppet yet?
Ted Ghorra will be the winner of this Rep. primary for all to see.
ReplyDeleteI saw Ted Ghorra at McCabe's event last night and he has told others in Bay Ridge that the Brooklyn GOP is "not endorsing a candidate in any repub primaries". I guess when Golden waives his golden wand and Ghorra must endorse Quag, then Kassar will not be very happy.....what an odd fellow - the commentator above was right. There is something very odd about him.
ReplyDeleteThis will be funny as Capano slides right into victory while Liam and Quag fight over the Golden-Kassar crumbs.
Cant wait....
Come on guys. Don't you know having John and Liam compete is all part of the plan? More money and jobs for conservative hacks and whoever wins the primary has to have the same conservative party operatives and hacks on the payroll. At the same time if Abbate runs they make a deal with him about the no show jobs and its a win win for the party. Ghorra is the biggest puppet in all of this. He actually thinks he has a role and that relevant people care what he thinks.
