Marty Golden 's growing and accelerating blunders

For the second election cycle in a row, Brooklyn's only home-grown Republican office holder, State Senator Martin Golden, tried and failed to engage in a hostile takeover of  the Brooklyn GOP's political apparatus

Going into the 2015 Republican organizational primary season Golden was probably at his high-water mark of political power and influence;  nonetheless, given the results earlier this week at the GOP 2015 County Convention,  Golden's 2015 performance was a "Classic Fail" ---  and since it was almost identical to what he did in 2013 ---  That makes it  >>>  a "Double-Dip  Classic Fail"

As bad as this looks for Golden inside the GOP  ---  this is probably much worse than what might be immediately obvious  ---   and good staff work by a good staff  would never have let it happen

Doesn't anybody on the Golden team know or care about the fact that State Senator Golden is under investigation for a variety of acts of political corruption  ---   Why would anybody allow their boss, friend, political ally, man who runs the gravy train, whatever puts them on the Golden team or causes Marty Golden to float their boat, create a new mountain of EVIDENCE of political corruption for U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara and his investigators to dig into ?

I'm not on the Golden team, and I certainly am not a Marty Golden insider.  If I were, I'd have chapter and verse on a lot more than what I have written below.   In other words, there are many folks on the Marty Golden Team that would make far better potential witnesses for the prosecution than I would be.....   And that's not a good thing for Mr. Golden, especially with somebody like Preet Bharara and his investigators snooping around god-knows-where for who-knows-what.

PETITIONING AND OTHER PRE-PRIMARY MATTERS

I'm going to begin with a time frame that is post-2015 GOP Primary.  The reason for that is whatever procedural and substantive shortcomings occurred in Golden's  recruitment  of candidates for the 2015-2017 Republican County Committee, and the vetting of, petitioning for and submission of petitions to the Board of Elections are matters completely known only by those Golden operatives that ran the petitioning effort.  The extent that those recruitment efforts focused on BOE emplyees would be particularly problematic [especially in connection with several matters discussed below].  Other irregularities would largely have merged into the 2015 administrative and in some instances  adversary proceedings conducted at the BOE and the records of those matters maintained by the BOE.

The Golden petitioning and election law team, and the BOE control all the pre-primary materials that still might exist; and whatever skulduggery might have occurred at the BOE, such as the mass elimination of several candidates not on the Golden team slate, would involve a complex conspiracy that I am neither able to describe nor about which I could show anything close to proof.  Furthermore, the pre-primary goings-on were not nearly as widely reported upon in 2015 as they had been in prior years.

AFTER THE PRIMARY BUT BEFORE THE CONVENTION  ---  THE BROOKLYN BOE, COERCION AND R.I.C.O.

Interestingly, some of the post-primary-pre-convention activities that I will discuss did occur at the BOE for Brooklyn.  In the run-up to the 2015 Kings County Republican Convention, some of the BOE employees at the Brooklyn office were harassed and even threatened in their jobs if they weren't with the winning team at the upcoming GOP convention.  It was made perfectly clear that the "winning team" was the one backing Golden's choice at the convention or giving their proxies to Golden at the convention.

My sources indicated that this was done by many of the BOE employees and supervisors at the Board that were also County Committee members.  Particularly mentioned as being part of the mix were Diane Rudiano, a long-time chief clerk at the Brooklyn office, thus viewed by many as the boss, and Koshel Choudry, another supervisor at the Brooklyn BOE.

Harassment of an employee by threats of job loss to influence a vote or other political activity is a crime in New York State.  If any evidence of that could be tied directly or indirectly to Mr. Golden, it would be more than scandalous;  it would be proof of involvement by the State Senator in criminal activities and conspiracies.  And, given the ongoing nature of the enterprise, R.I.C.O violations [remember, in the 2013 was the strange destruction of petitions of an anti- Golden group, supervised by BOE emplyees with connections to Golden,  and also involving Golden's hand-picked BOE Commissioner Simon Shamoun in an after the fact cover-up].

DURING THE CONVENTION ---  MARTY GOLDEN'S PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT AND LEADERSHIP ---  ALONG WITH DIANE RUDIANO & MOST OF THE B.O.E. EMPLOYEES PRESENT

Marty Golden's biggest blunder so far in 2015 was personally handing in over 400 proxies to the Credentials Committee for the 2015 Kings County County Committee Convention.  Several of those proxies were apparently fraudulently dated and/or contained other visible irregularities.  Golden's tender of the arguably fraudulent proxies is now a matter of record that clearly involves him in a possible election fraud, that evidence is in now the hands of the KCRP.  And it seems obvious, that the other details and additional evidence of that potential fraud are completely under the control of Golden and the people on Golden's convention team [remember some of them, Golden's staff and lawyers, were in the clown car outside Remsen Hall during the convention].

Needless to say State Senator Martin Golden's activities didn't end with his tender of over 400 problematic proxies.  The New York State Senator led a faction of delegates that repeatedly attempted to disrupt the orderly process of the convention, often involving State Senator Golden's attempting to deliver out-of-order inflammatory speeches.  More significant, Golden's efforts to do his song and dance was completely supported by most of the BOE-employed delegates at the convention, and they were orchestrated and led by Diane Rudiano.  Oddly, one of Rudiano's own chants was this:  "We are entitled to legal representation...."  The Convention Chairman pointed out that Ms. Rudiano and her cohort were not in any kind of criminal proceeding, and also the rules didn't provide for any non-member legal assistance "on the floor." [ To which, let me add, "No legal representation is called for yet, Diane, but maybe in due course....."]

A complete record of these goings-on is completely under control of the Golden team, in the form of a complete recording of the proceedings by Glenn Nocera, who was a County Committee Member affiliated with Golden and a nominee on the Golden-supported slate of officers.

AFTER THE CONVENTION ---  AN ATTEMPT BY GOLDEN TO RECONVENE WITH ONLY HIS FACTION

After the end of the normal business day, when all the scheduled business of 2015 Brooklyn GOP Convention had been completed and proceeding brought to a close, and after many of the members of the Kings County Republican County Committee had vacated the premises,  the Golden faction, led by Golden himself,  attempted to reconvene the 2015 GOP County Convention  in a fraudulent attempt to engage in some ulta vires activity in the name of the Brooklyn GOP.   There are reports that Mr. Golden even attempted to immediately re-rent Remsen Hall to "continue" the convention.

STAFF, ADVISERS & INNER CIRCLE  ---  A LACK OF POLITICAL, PRACTICAL & LEGAL SENSE

If Marty Golden's staff, advisers and inner circle had any political, practical or legal sense, they would never have let the overought State Senator do any of what was discussed above {and also a lot of stuff that wasn't mentioned in this post].

If Preet Bhara wanted to, all of this could be used in a variety of ways to advance any potential prosecution of Golden and/or others near to Golden.

Enough said for now.....   More if and when we get it, and it's worth putting out there.

  2. Wow...seems like a brilliant detailed explanation of the events. Too bad Kassar didnt have the benefit of the true facts before he started talking to people and making inflammatory statements about what he and the Senator are going to do....things which in and of themselves are threatening and have their own individual consequences.

But so far what I see as the biggest blunder is once again, Golden's braintrusts, throwing him into this hook line and sinker and making him a part of the fraud by making him the proxy....if his new team were smarter than the old team, and it appears now that both the new and the old teams have no clue, then they would have kept him out of this...they would not have let him be the proxy...and they would not have even let him attend the convention....now he has dirty hands and is complicit in everything that happened - we all know he was anyway, but this just solidifies the case against him, Ghorra, Kassar and all the Brooklyn BOE Employees........

  3. My understanding is that Golden's staff spent the convention sitting around the corner in a car, because (and this is not a joke) not a single Golden staffer ran for or was elected to the County Committee. Granted, Golden has many Conservatives and Democrats on his payroll... but not one Republican staffer could qualify for the County Committee?

  8. QUERY: THE "YOU MIGHT HAVE A POINT, BUT..." EDITION

To comment maker, "Anonymous said... at 4:20 PM" above

How does it follow that "The fact that Senator Golden['s] staff does not waste time on nonsensical politics just points to his independence" ???

Aren't you overlooking several reported facts like this: Golden and some of Golden's staff participated in the 2015 GOP organizing process at various levels and stages, from the beginning to the end. That would include the following: recruitment of County Committee; helping with petitioning [at least with organization and coordination]; participating in the challenges process; selecting and promoting candidates for the KCRP Executive Committee; participating in the proxy process; and attempting to take over the 2015 GOP Kings County Convention.

Of course you are free to deny any of that. However then I'd be forced to change the title of this comment slightly to this:

  9. Not only did NONE of Golden's staffers qualify themselves for County Committee ... the Golden camp did not have ANY attorneys among their supporters on county committee anywhere in Brooklyn.

There are about 109,000 Republican voters in Brooklyn. The all-powerful Senator has a very limited universe of friends and supporters -- and at the county committee meeting, they were all the patronage employees from the Brooklyn office of the Board of Elections.

  10. JUST IN: I have been told that Eaton was asked by Golden to meet on Sept 18 to discuss what they could do to try and work things out. However, Golden's real reason to meet was to once again DEMAND that Eaton step down or agree not to run. Didnt Golden already try this brilliant plan at least ten times before? However this time was different, because Eaton already decided months ago that due to his family losses over the last few years, he wanted to move on to his his family foundation where he could raise money and find a cure for a worthwhile cause. Golden had a GOLDEN opportunity here, and because of his pure arrogance, lost.

I hear Mike Long even set up and attended the meeting. Check it out....

ARE YOU SAYING THAT MIKE LONG, THE NYS CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN, TOOK A DIRECT HAND IN TRYING TO INFLUENCE THE INNER WORKINGS OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IN THE LARGEST COUNTY IN NEW YORK STATE ???

ISN'T THAT A VIOLATION OF WILSON-PAKULA OR SOME OTHER PART OF THE NYS ELECTION LAW GOVERNING THIRD PARTIES AND THEIR INTERACTIONS WITH THE MAJOR PARTIES ?

BE THAT AS IT MAY, DOESN'T THAT SPECIFICALLY VIOLATE A FEDERAL CONSENT ORDER WHEREIN LONG AND ANOTHER HIGHER-UP IN THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY WERE FOUND GUILTY OF INTERFERING WITH THE GOP AND IT'S SELECTION OF IT'S OWN PEOPLE BEFORE ?

  12. Maybe they set up the meeting because cooler heads realized what would happen at the Convention , that Arnaldo and Lucretia had made deals with both Eaton and Golden, and they desperately wanted to avoid a disaster which took place anyway in that we now have these two buffoons running the party.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anonymous at 6:15am - that is the smartest thing I have read on this blog since it started...you are 100% correct.

I am not sure why Eaton would agree to meet with Golden after all of the damage he cause Eaton over the last two and half years, which started when Golden pulled the BOE Commissioner "under the cover of night", started intimidating BOE employees and then pitching libelous and slanderous articles in newspapers all around Brooklyn.

But Eaton is a man of integrity and still, up until the very end, even when he knew he was going to jump ship at the convention and get away from the slime buckets, Golden and his crew, he STILL agreed to meet and gave Golden one last chance to do the right thing - something which would have brought the GOP together. Good luck with Arnaldo.....I am laughing every minute.....

But Golden's ego is just toooo big....too stupid and too arrogant.

  14. Gale you are right. Eaton played his hand well...like a fine tuned machine....he put all the pieces in place from the 2013 Convention and plotted his course. Sheer brilliance Mr Chairman.....you deserve some peace and rest now knowing that you beat Golden at his own game.

Maybe Golden should hire Eaton instead of the amateur crew he has working for him now..

Jim McLennan....hear it was your voice on the Robocalls....I am sure Sen Flanagan would really be interested to know that a member of the NYS Senate GOP Staff made deceptive and misleading robocalls to Republicans........what were you thinking? Or were you not thinking and were just taking direction from Golden, Kassar and their brainstrusts? You really need to be smarter and not let them drive you to unemployment or worse....make your own decisions and think before you act....or if this was your own decision, those people from queens are correct and you are not that bright. Speaking of Queens, a little birdie told me that you were supposed to be on the Executive Committee of the Queens GOP but were FIRED from that spot...karma karma karma my friend. They dont even like you in Queens. Don't cry, you are a Golden boy and that will serve you well.......

Simon - YOU'RE FIRED....those words will be heard soon I am sure.

Kepi - if you get any closer to Golden running around at the events with him, if he stops short you may get lost in his ??? you know what....it is so funny watching you follow him with your phone like a little boy - I saw you at an event recently and was worried that you were going to get lost in....you know what....

    Golden played Arnaldo/Lucretia;
    Arnaldo/Lucretia played Golden;
    Arnaldo/Lucretia played Kassar;
And Chairma Eaton played them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because he tricked them into taking over, screwing Marty and Gerry, and he was able to slip away without ever losing to Golden...and now since he is no longer Chairman, Golden cant beat him anymore.....

Probably you are talking about Marko Kepi, who works for State Senator Golden; and in between his pro-Albanian, pro-Kosovo stuff, Kepi posts, Tweets and throws in everything else including the kitchen sink, about how the sun shines out of Marty's ethic assimilation.

IS MARTY GOLDEN'S SIDE GETTING READY TO RUN INTO COURT --- AGAIN ?

First HJ and his orchestra does a full jazzy trumpet concerto on the main theme, with a very strong back beat theme that contains its own complicated progressions; all before HF sings a note --- then BAM !

"It seems to me I've heard that song before
It's from an old familiar score
I know it well, that melody
    It's funny how a theme
    Recalls a favorite dream
A dream that brought you so close to me
I know each word, because I've heard that song before
    The lyrics said: "for evermore"
    For evermore's a memory
Please have them play it again
And (Then) I'll remember just when
I heard that lovely song before"

Marty Golden and his peeps seem to have made this Harry James - Helen Forrest 1943 hit their marching song in 2015.

  28. The "big" investigations talk is a bunch of smoke and mirrors, they may not even sue this time. Kepi might just be running around with toilet paper instead of legal papers. All kidding aside, Eaton has gathered some affidavits that would annihilate this good natured friendly image perpetuated by Golden and his staff.Golden and his team know those would be very embarrassing and are not going to risk having them publicized. It's all over but the shouting and they basically know it. Enjoy the Potter regime for the next two years.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE 2015 GOP CONVENTION SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THOSE ELECTED/SELECTED AT THE GOP CONVENTION --- THEY ARE IN CHARGE NOW

Of course, it is far from certain how one would go about doing that in a way that would get a positive response. GOP County Chairman Ferraro and County Secretary Lucretia Regina-Potter have long had a reputation of being aloof and secretive. It remains to be seen if that changes in any way.

One could also call State Senator Martin Golden's office and ask them what records or notes they have about the 2015 Brooklyn GOP Convention. If they demur, point out that the State Senator was there and quite active, and members of the staff were reportedly involved in the process as well.

Another person that might have that information is Diane Rudiano, who can be reached at the Brooklyn BOE.

WHO SAYS THAT ARNALDO CAN'T BE POLITICAL ? LOOK AT HIS ONLY QUOTE IN THE "CITY AND STATE" WRITE-UP

"COMPLETELY SHOCKED" LIKE CLAUDE RAINES IN "CASABLANCA" AND THE BEAT GOES ON

According to "City and State" --- ".... WINNER[ ]... Arnaldo Ferraro - The 79-year-old Italian immigrant said he was 'completely shocked' when he was nominated to be the next Brooklyn GOP chairman following a raucous reorganizing meeting. After former chair Craig Eaton abruptly stepped down, Eaton's faction traded heated barbs with supporters of state Sen. Marty Golden, who was backing another candidate. The throwback meeting hall melee over leadership landed Ferraro the top spot, which is a feather in the cap for a man who has spent decades in politics...." ( See "Winners and Losers 10/2/15" by Staff, 10/2/15, City and State [http://www.cityandstateny.com/articles/personality/winners-and-losers/winners-and-losers-10/02/15.html#.VhFB5uxViko]).

In spite of that quote in the "City and State" article [and other coverage in/by other news outlets], there was definitely a back and forth between Eaton and Arnaldo, involving other people's inputs as well, in the run-up to the 2015 GOP Convention in the days before the actual vote on Wednesday. Not only was Arnaldo Ferraro made privey to Eaton's "ABC" plan, Arnaldo had some reservations and expressed his concern about the impact of his becoming Brooklyn GOP Chairman on the special election campaign of Lucretia Regina-Potter in the 46th A.D. Much of Ferraro's expressed coyness was specifically about the possible reactions by Marty Golden [and Golden's closest supporters in the Conservative Party] to Eaton's handing-off the leadership to Ferraro and how Golden's probable negative reaction might impact Potter's campaign for the Assembly.

  33. Golden and Eaton need to learn from this disastrous fiasco. It is time to bury the hatchet and let bygones be bygones. All this infighting has led to the inmates being handed the keys to he asylum. These paranoid people now control leadership and are about to lose the most winnable Assembly race for a Republican in Brooklyn since the 1980's.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It's not a winnable seat. Lucretia hasn't raised a nickel, the Assembly Republicans don't have a dime, and I wouldn't give two cents for GOP chances in a year when there's no top-of-the-ticket to push turnout.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lucretia has a better chance of winning the NYC Marathon this month.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Assembly Republicans have over half a million dollars right now, and this is exactly the kind of seat without no top of the ticket driving Democrats to vote makes this is a more then winnable seat. Party infighting more important then winning.

    ReplyDelete
  37. No top of ticket will reduce interest for Dems. Very low turnout this election vey winnable we need to wake up and fight for the seat.

  38. Anonymous at 940am.....I agree with you totally, however you should not forget what was said earlier....Eaton, even after all the libel, slander and abuse, agreed to meet with Golden the week before the Convention. I know for a fact that Eaton was at that time amenable to working something out with Golden at this meeting, as well as at a meeting which was supposed to be scheduled one year before (which Golden then rrefused to attend). However at this recent meeting with Golden that did happen, Golden wasnt looking to work something out- he was looking, once again, to make demands, and this time the demand was for Eaton to step down.

BUT, now Golden is threatening all types of actions, which will only kill any chance Lucretia has to win, and will all but guarantee that the action will drag on for over a year, right in the middle of Golden's campaign in 2016 and the Dems are chomping at the bit to see the allegations of deception and fraud that the Eaton side keeps talking about since they will use EACH AND EVERY ALLEGATION against Golden in a race that they already believe is a winnable race for the Dems....either Goujnardes who got 43% without any money, or gentile who can crush Golden in a heartbeat...

You were right with one point, Golden should let bygones be bygones..................................for the sake of the GOP

  42. COMMENT: THE "WHY MARTY NEEDS TO DROP HIS CHIP ON THE SHOULDER ATTITUDE" EDITION

THE DEPARTURE OF EATON & THE COMPLETE EMASCULATION OF GOLDEN'S HORN

WHETHER IT'S HAVING "THESE MOMENTS TO REMEMBER" OR "... IT'S NOBODY'S BUSINESS BUT THE TURKS" -- THE PAST IS THE PAST -- BUT SOMEBODY NEEDS TO PICK UP THE PIECES AND MOVE IN A NEW AND DIFFERENT DIRECTION -- OR HOW MARTY NEEDS TO CRAWL BEFORE HE CAN WALK AGAIN

There have been lots of comments above, to both this post and the one before it.... How many people are involved in all the chatter, trash talk, whining and the occasional informed and pithy insight? Four, five, maybe as many as ten at the most... ?

Having spoken mostly with Eaton and his folks for the last couple of years, I can say with a little confidence, you won't have them to kick around anymore. In case you missed it, they have exited stage right [Cue the Trapp Family Singers to reprise Eaton's "ABC Plan": "... So long, farewell -- Auf Wiedersehen, goodnight -- I hate to go and leave this pretty sight..."]

Here's another bit of news: Constantinople has fallen and it's name has even been changed [Cue the Four Lads] and everybody knows, "...That's nobody's business but the Turks...." So either segue with the Four Lads into having those moments to remember -- OR -- TRY SOMETHING NEW.

The GOP has a chance to rebuild the party starting with all the districts that make up Golden's State Senate district. All sides in the Brooklyn GOP feud have talked about exactly that for a long, long time, but nobody has done anything that is REALLY like that in any way.

Here's how that must start. Marty Golden needs to wake up and smell the coffee. If Lucretia doesn't win the assembly seat in the 46th AD special .... SSMG will get a lot of the blame, maybe all of it [and 2016 comes around quick & 2017 is now a million years away].

Marty Golden needs to pull up his big boy pants, forget talk about court cases and the voting rights nonsense. He has to go over to his new BOSS, Arnaldo Ferraro, kiss his.... ring and say, "OK, chief, what do I need to do to elect Lucretia."

IF NOT, THE EATON-GOLDEN FEUD WILL SEEM LIKE THE GOOD OLD DAYS --- because now, maybe somebody other than Marty Golden will be ready, willing and able to make their own deal with some Democrats -- and Marty and his peeps need to understand that also would be something VERY NEW [let's call that "Plan 'B'"].

btw, Eaton's "Plan 'ABC'" might really have only been Part 1 of somebody else's "Plan 'B'" [Cue Jay and the Americans.... "Only in America"]

  43. Let's recap, shall we?

    * Bob Turner wins a special election for Congress, and six months later, Marty Golden votes to eliminate Turner's district.

    * David Storobin wins a special election for State Senate, and before he can be sworn in, Marty Golden votes to eliminate Storobin's district.

    * Lucretia Regina-Potter is running in a special election for Assembly, and Marty Golden refuses to help her because he's angry that his puppet lost the county leadership.

Sounds like progress. Marty has learned from his mistakes: now he won't let Republicans win, because it's easier to prevent a Republican from taking office than it is to get rid of their districts.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Maybe, Marty is afraid of being accused of racism for opposing Harris. That would put him on the Libs radar screen again and they might call Bharara ta ask what's going on with the Golden investigation

    ReplyDelete
  45. Marty Golden had nothing to do with any of the above districts being eliminated. The ENTIRE State Legislature approved of those changes in exchange for more favorable treatment for Republicans outside of NYC. Lucretia and Arnaldo made their own mess and even they know it even if they won't acknowledge it. Arnaldo and Lucretia had made separate deals with MG and CE. It went down to the wire which deal they would accept. If they weren't so power hungry they could have kept Craig on as Chair, but they wouldn't budge they wanted full control. They played Golden to the end and now you expect him to support her? On the one hand they tell people that Golden has little influence and on the other they complain that he won't help them. Forget Golden and Eaton, stop making excuses, and go win the Assembly seat.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Let me get this straight then Marty Golden as part of the state legislature voted for favorable treatment for Republicans outside of NYC, but for unfavorable treatments for all Republicans in NYC?

What deal is Golden making now? Back Pam Harris in exchange for another free ride? Golden is such a typical power hungry RINO elected official under investigation.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous at 914am....I am a little confused by your comment "if they werent so power hungry THEY could have kept Craig in as Chair". I guess you were not keeping up with what really happened. If you were smart you would realize that if Craig made Arnaldo the Chair, he could have just as well made himself the Chair...duh!

Isn't Marty Golden the senior senator from New York City? And the ONLY Republican from Brooklyn or Queens, where these two Republican districts used to exist?

You kool-aid guzzlers claim Marty is all-powerful. But he couldn't prevent other Republican electeds within his district from being vaporized???

  49. To Anonymous at 9:53 nobody is buying your "clueless" act. Craig needed Lucretia's proxies to legitimize the vote. She would not go with Craig unless he made Arnaldo Chair, if she didn't she was going with Golden plain and simple. Hope that clears things up for you. But in case it doesn't here is some more, why else would Golden and Eaton nominate a man whom they detest to any position of importance to the Party. The aforementioned is background, almost everyone by now knows hat Lucretia was double dealing.

  50. To Anonymous at 9:45 Golden was ONE person going along with what the whole ENTIRE LEGISLATURE had agreed to. Your constant mentioning of his vote on the issue is ill informed at best disingenuous at worst.

  51. Golden going along with the entire legislature proves he willing went along to abolish Republican held districts in NYC and disenfranchise a significant amount of Republican voters in Brooklyn and in other parts of NYC.

  52. Disenfrachise means you take away their righ to vote. Your understanding of Golden's role in redistricting is about the same as that of your understanding of the word disenfranchise.

  53. Golden was and is a senior majority member of the legislature, he and his people clearly not only had a hand in his own district changes, but also looked the other way when the rest of Brooklyn was being carved by the Democrats. At least the Dems draw and enhance districts to ensure of little to no chance for a Republican challenger. Golden on the other hand couldn't even get himself a safe district, which he won't be able to hang on to much longer. Poetic since he voted to eliminate Republican colleagues from his own area.
