In what should be a natural alliance to elect a Republican to represent the core of Marty Golden's State Senate District in the NYS Assembly, a new war is brewing between Brooklyn's only home-grown Republican official and the new Brooklyn GOP County Leader
The word is that things are off to a bit of a rocky start between the newly elected KCRP Chairman and Brooklyn's only all-Brooklyn elected Republican public office holder --- and right now, it's all about the 46th A.D. special election and GOP candidate Lucretia Regina-Potter
If a blood feud starts in the GOP in 2015 over Lucretia Regina-Potter's run for the NYS Assembly, it is very likely that there will be some of State Senator Marty Golden's blood on the floor in 2016
A whole bunch of stuff that had been arranged by Arnaldo Ferraro, Lucretia Regina-Potter, Marty Golden, Jerry Kassar and Mike Long to push Lucretia's special election run for the assembly seat in the 46th AD against Democrat Pam Harris has been "back-burnered" since Dr. Ferraro defeated State Senator Golden's choice for County Chairman at the 2015 Republican County Convention.
This has left the new GOP County Chairman and his 46th AD District Leader scurrying to backfill in what is now a very short campaign season. Meanwhile, it looks like Golden, Kassar and Long are suddenly content to sit on their hands and let Democrat Pam Harris, a Coney Island area community activist become the next assmblyperson for the heart of their Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights stronghold.
In the short run, that's what Marty Golden seems to want more than anything else. However, this time it is more likely to bring significant longtime negative repercussions for the Conservative-Republican State Senator from Bay Ridge. As the new GOP County Leader, Arnaldo is far more like to get openly involved in a vendetta against Golden than his predecessor Craig Eaton. In fact, when it was originally planned that Dr Ferraro would become the next Chairman of the Brooklyn GOP, this very scenario was very much expected; thus "The 2016 Vendetta" was an unspoken but expected part of the plan.
In any case Marty Golden's war on his Republican County Leader moves into a new phase; and the Brooklyn GOP Chairman's war on Golden will continue for another two years, or until Golden is defeated, whichever comes first.
Lucretia Regina-Potter probably benefits from Golden not campaigning for her since most candidates he backs lose anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe Eaton plan....what a slice of brilliance....I guess now Golden is second guessing his further arrogance towards Eaton at their meeting a few weeks ago.....if "only I handled things differently at the meeting, none of this would have happened" is what I hear Golden's song is these days....if only....
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that Arnaldo came within 500 votes of defeating Senator Bob DiCarlo in 1994.
ReplyDeleteLucretia's supporters should stop their whining and excuse making already. This is a very winnable election for her and the Party. It is the umpteenth time that she is running and she should make the best of it.
ReplyDeleteMarty and his people should do the same about last week's election, and they should also get involved to help elect Lucretia. But we all know Marty and his people don't do anything for free or out of an act of any kindness.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "ALL THE FRIENDLY REPUBLICANS WORKING SO NICELY TOGETHER" EDITION
ReplyDeleteThis is politics folks ! ! ! "Free" -- "Act of Kindness" ? ? ? Is this the "Church Lady" trying to sneak back onto my blog again by talking about local GOP politics ?
I would hope not.....
If Marty Golden and his folks were to work hard to get Lucretia R-P elected to the assembly, it would show that Golden & Co. know how to be good conservative Republicans. Demonstrable hard work for L R-P by Golden and his crew would be a positive SELFISH act of "enlightened self interest." It could pay dividends long onto the future.
On the other hand, Golden's letting a Coney Island community activist, like Pam Harris, get elected to the assembly representing his home district would sound the first ominous note in a year-long death knell for the RINO State Senator from Brooklyn.
With or without Golden's help the opportunity to win the seat is Golden so time to move on and focus on doing what needs to be done to win.
ReplyDeleteGolden Kassar and Long have made a career out of sitting on their hands. Avery profitable career.
ReplyDeleteArnaldo and Lucretia may have to decide if a bird in the hand is worth more than a bird in the bush.
ReplyDeleteRepublicans and Conservatives in Bayridge and Dyker Heights don't seem to realize that your not in a Republican stronghold anymore. Its a small vote election and for reasons of race only Potter might be a little ahead in some of the Bayridge, Dyker and Brighton parts of the assembly district, that is all. The Democratic Party's base vote is too big to win a special.
ReplyDeleteJustin Brannan please stop fantasizing about this area becoming Park Slope. Stop trolling the Republican blogs and go back to work. After all you are on the taxpayers dime. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute when a Bay Ridge ConRep tries to deny that the area hasn't transformed. It doesn't matter how many German delis are now cheese shops, or how Italians and Irish are now just part of the ethnic mix. The Bay Ridge of Conklin, Kelly, Seergy and Marano is long gone. And a dummy with a 1950s cop mentality is hardly the pathfinder we need.
ReplyDeleteDid the Deparment of Ed block the candy crush app on your phone again Justin? You live in one of the most conservative areas in New York City. MG crushed your club's hand picked opponent last time and now you are getting nervous about City Council. If you don't like our communities as they are and if they are not chaniging at the pace and way you would like maybe find a new hobby to distract you or something.
ReplyDeleteI ain't Justin.
ReplyDeleteI ain't Justin, either & some baddy thought I was when I said Bayridge and Dyker Heights weren't a Republican stronghold anymore.
ReplyDeleteThe nonstop denial of Bay Ridge reality by Marty's people is incredible. Anyone who confronts them is now called a Democrat. Wake up guys, it's not 1955 anymore.
ReplyDeleteHey guys you are fooling no one. It seems that you and your club are the ones actually confused about what era we are living in. Jesse Jackson is no longer a viable Presidential candidate, BEN CARSON is. Al Sharpton is not out pounding the pavement he has turned Brookstone Brothers CORPORATE and could care less about racial injustice so long as a check is coming his way. We live in great communities where people look out for each other. Keep trying to change the zoning laws and hoping that these areas will become more attractive to lefties. Once they move here and see the light they will register as Republicans.
