A recent Albany Times-Union article: "Saratoga County Conservative chair schedules hearing to oust 'disloyal' members --- David F. Buchyn sent letters to party members saying it has 'been alleged that you have engaged in acts that are disloyal'..." was very detailed about Kassar's current involvment in a very disturbing matter having to do with the deals and "no deals" when it comes to picking judges upstate, particularly in Republican controlled areas
As a little background, there are about 3,200 residents of Saratoga County that are listed as
“active” registered Conservative Party-affiliated voters. A few dozen of those good folks were recently notified by mail that they had to appear last Saturday at the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Clifton Park >>> at what the Albany Times-Union described
as a "loyalty tribunal" --- and others involved referred to as a "kangaroo court"
According to a later Albany Times-Union Editorial, the unelected, Jarry Kassar-appointed Saratoga County Conservative Party Chairman Buchyn’s notification letters to
the accused Conservative Party membership was something >>> "...[S]traight out of a Mad Magazine parody of Franz Kafka’s 'The
Trial,' in which [Kafka's main protagonist] poor Joseph K spends the entire novel trying to figure out
what he has been accused of, and by whom....."
Here's what Kassar's toady Buchyn wrote in his notice letter, among a few other things of lesser import: “Please take notice that a complaint has
been received alleging that your views and actions are not in sympathy with the
principles of the Saratoga County Conservative Party.... [Chairman Buchyn then wrote] Further it has also been alleged that you have engaged in acts that are
disloyal to the Saratoga County Conservative Party....”
Here's where the Albany Times-Union has gotten so far in its expose of the Kassar-Buchyn attempts to "purge" certain disloyal members:
"It is unclear what the
next steps in Mr. Buchyn’s purity campaign might be. It takes a state Supreme
Court judge to de-register anyone from a political party — a mechanism that
exists to stop larger parties from taking over smaller ones in an effort to win
their ballot lines. The flip side of this peril is the continued existence of [third] parties that are so decrepit in their leadership structures that a few bosses [like Kassar and his cronies] can hand those lines to favored candidates with precious little involvement of
a county-level rank-and-file too small to fill a school gymnasium (although
they might be able to pack a conference room at a local chain hotel)....."
In all of its reporting and editorializing, the Albany TImes-Union missed a very big chunk of relevant and related Kassar and Brooklyn Conservative Party history --- Kassar and Mike Long pulled the exact same trick on fellow Conservatives many years ago when they attempted to oust a "disloyal" group of Conservative Party members from the 49th AD and several other neighboring districts.....
Many statewide Republican and Conservative Party leaders and activists have seen all of this unfold --- and their intitial responses are a mixture of distress, outrage, and oddly, a bit of schadenfreude amusement that Kassar needs to fight off this Conservative Party insurgency in his upstate ranks.
Maybe, we'll have some more to say about the long ago Brooklyn stuff after others have had their chance to chime in, or give us the berries for exposing one of Brooklyn's legendary scheming intriguers, and his underhanded practices, techniques, and methodologies as they are now being applied up in Saratoga.
