Why hasn't DA Alvin Bragg gone after the well more than Six Hundred Millions of Dollars from the Manhattan DA's "Asset Forfeiture" account(s) >>> apparently gone since the first day that Bragg took over the Manhattan DA's Office from former Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance ???
There have been many questions raised lately about Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's selective enforcement of the law --- and by the same token, his selective investigations of certain possible crimes, and not others. >>> Perhaps the biggest uninvestigated case since Bragg took over the Manhattan DA's Office involves a massive amount of funds no longer in the accounts of the Manhattan DA's Office itself
The very woke-sounding Soros-backed Alvin Bragg won the 2021 election ro become Manhattan’s first Black-American DA. Bragg ran as a radical change reformer who promised to pull back on prosecuting certain offenses and to pursue alternatives to incarceration. Also very significantly, he also pledged to create a so-called participatory budgeting system, which would be similar to one used by many City Council members >>> in it, Bragg's constituents would have some say on how to steer some spending. “I want to have a process that’s more open.....”
Bragg told a small leftish-oriented alternative media outlet, called "The City" late in 2021, that he would prefer to spend on programs that focus on “mental health” and re-entry services for people coming out of jail and prison. However, Bragg will start with just $31 million of available "Asset Forfeiture" funds instead of almost three-quarters of a billion bucks amassed by Bragg's predecessor, according to some records — and most of those available dollars had already been dedicated to a City University of New York grant program called the Criminal Justice Investment Initiative >>> by the former Manhattan DA (See " Vance Depletes Manhattan DA’s $715M Bank Haul, Leaving Bragg With Small Change" by Reuven Blau. 11/14/2021, The City/ [https://www.thecity.nyc/2021/11/14/22781589/vance-spends-manhattan-da-asset-forfeiture-fund-stiffing-bragg]).
Bragg says he has no plans to divert any funds that Vance had allocated from his office's "Asset Forfeiture" accounts --- but that leaves close to another seven hundred million bucks that Vance and his lavish money spenders shot to hell on other stuff --- in other words, pretty much unaccounted for. Official records showed that Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance had spent nearly $715 million in money brought in from big money case settlements for so-called "criminal justice programs"..... And, as a direct result of that largesse by the Vance team >>> Vance's successor, Alvin Bragg has been left with almost none of the vast fund amassed by Vance's tram from "Asset Forfeitures," as its rake from profitable prosecutions of the very big fish-big money defendants --- all the way down to contraband cash seized from the more normal-sized defendants.....
Vance seemed to have lavish tastes and an expensive life style
There is no real auditing of the NYC DAs' Asset Forfeiture accounts by the NYC Comptroller or anybody else.** The NYC Comptroller only conducts occasional audits of certain operations, methods and expenditurs of NYC's five DA's offices; and the current NYC Comptroller Brad Lander especially wants nothing to do with auditing the Asset Forfeiture books of the Manhattan DA, aka the New York County DA (DANY), nor those of any other NYC DA's offices. (For example, in the year 2022, the NYC Comptroller only audited the inventory, control and handling of office and technical equipment in the Office of the Manhattan DA [DANY].)
Is anybody noticing Gale's manic deflection?
ReplyDeleteMostly he's trying to deflect from Ari Kagan for the benefit of his buddy Justin.
ReplyDelete419, whatcha talkin bout Willis, "Gale's manic deflection"?
ReplyDeleteUPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "VERY BRIEF MENTION IN ABC'S BRIEF ON BRAGG" EDITION
ReplyDeleteA FEW DAYS AGO "ABC7 EYEWITNESS NEWS" SAID THIS ABOUT BRAGG IN A BIO-BRIEF ABOUT THE MANHATTAN DA GOING AFTER DONALD TRUMP --- IT EVEN HAD A SNIPPET ABOUT "... A SEPARATE $800 MILLION FORFEITURE FUND..."
It started out like this: "A New York grand jury investigating hush payments made on Donald Trump's behalf during the 2016 presidential campaign has refocused attention on the Manhattan district attorney steering the case. Alvin Bragg's decision to convene the grand jury early this year could lead to the first criminal charge against a former U.S. president. Bragg was elected as Manhattan's first Black district attorney in November 2021. His legal career includes work as a federal prosecutor and civil rights attorney representing the mother of Eric Garner...."
And later on it mentioned this: ".... The [Manhattan DA's] office has a budget of about $150 million and has used a separate $800 million forfeiture fund bankrolled by Wall Street settlements for grants to criminal justice and community organizations and big initiatives, such as testing backlogged rape kits...." (See "Meet Alvin Bragg, Manhattan's DA who may be the first prosecutor to indict a former U.S. President" by ABC Staff w/AP feed, 3/21/2023. ABC7NY Eyewitness News/ Politics [https://abc7ny.com/donald-trump-alvin-bragg-manhattan-da-investigation/12986423/abc7ny.com/donald-trump-alvin-bragg-manhattan-da-investigation/12986423/]).
The City council has oversight of DA's expenditures. Looks like Justin dropped the ball on Vances 700 million dollars.
ReplyDeleteOvercaffeinated Gale doing deflect-o-matic.
ReplyDelete700,000,000 is swiped by Vance on his way out and Bragg is left with a mere 31,000,000. That is a lot of assets that were forfeited and all of it was approved by judges and more lawyers.
ReplyDelete529, I guess you never got the hang of using a slide-ruler. You have to know where the decimal point has to go. If you don't, you'd get the answer wrong just like you did in your comment above.
ReplyDeleteUnless. of course, if you inteded your comment to have some "slide-rule humor" in it.
UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "BACK TO THE ISSUE OF BRAGG'S PERSECUTION OF THE GOP PRESIDENTIAL FRONT RUNNER, DONALD TRUMP --- AND THE CLEAR ASSERTION OF FEDERAL/ CONGRESSIONAL INTEREST IN AN APPROPRIATE INQUISITION OF SOME DEMOCRATS LIKE BRAGG --- IN ORDER TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT WORK OF THE DEVIL THEY ARE TRYING TO GET AWAY WITH" EDITION
ReplyDeleteAND ALSO >>> IN ORDER TO SQUELCH ANY WHISPERING THAT WE HERE AT THIS INDEPENDENT GOP BLOG FOR BROOKLYN AND STATEN ISLAND ARE ATTEMPTING TO DEFLECT ANYTHING --- BUT INSTEAD, THAT WE ARE DEMONSTRATING HOW WE ARE EXTREMELY CAPABLE PRACTITIONERS OF ACCURATE DEFLECTION GUNNERY
Earlier today, the three Republican chairmen, who had asked Alvin Bragg to submit materials to their committees in their own earlier-sent letter to Bragg, replied to the refusal letter from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office counsel. According to published reports, Congressmen Jim Jordan, Jim Comer, and Bryan Steil have stated in writing that their prior requests for testimony and documents from Bragg related to the possible forthcoming indictment of former President Donald Trump still stand as originally tendered, even though Bragg's in-ouse attorney had objected to almost all of them.
On a letter to Bragg, the three committee chairmen contended that there existed a “substantial federal interest” in conducting a congressional probe into the Manhattan DA's investigation of Trump after Bragg substantially rebuffed their initial requests a few days ago. They specifiaclly rejected Bragg's main reason to resist the Congressmen's request as follows: ".... Contrary to the central argument set forth in your letter, this matter does not simply involve local or state interests.... [I]if state or local prosecutors are able to engage in politically motivated prosecutions of Presidents of the United States (former or current) for personal acts, this could have a profound impact on how Presidents choose to exercise their powers while in office....”
In addition, the GOP congressional chairmen told Bragg this: ".... Notably, your reply letter did not dispute the central allegations at issue --- that you, under political pressure from left-wing activists and former prosecutors in your office, are reportedly planning to use an alleged federal campaign finance violation, previously declined by federal prosecutors, as a vehicle to extend the statute of limitations on an otherwise misdemeanor offense and indict for the first time in history a former President of the United States. Moreover, you are apparently attempting to upgrade a misdemeanor charge to a felony using an untested legal theory at the same time when you are simultaneously downgrading felony charges to misdemeanors in a majority of other cases in your jurisdiction...."
Finally, the Congressional Chairmen reiterated their joint requests that Bragg contact them to arrange a transcribed interview, and to provide numerous documents and communications previously requested, giving Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg until March 31 to comply.
The DA's get funding from the Federal government so oversight is probably overdue. I recall Brooklyn DA Hynes had an asset forfeiture scandal that went on for years after he left office. That only unraveled because he was voted out. In the end Hynes paid a $40,000 fine for using government emails.
ReplyDelete1221, part of Bragg counter-offer in the face of the GOP chairs' initial request for information letter was to offer to completely discuss his office's use of all federal funds.
ReplyDeleteUPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "PRESIDENT TRUMP BAITED MANHATTAN DA BRAGG DURING THE FORMER PRESIDENT'S FIRST CAMPAIGN SPEECH IN WACO, TEXAS LAST EVENING" EDITION
ReplyDeleteAND FOR THAT MATTER --- TRUMP BAITED BIDEN, GARLAND, THE WHOLE WOKE CROWD IN WASHINGTON, D.C., AND THE MAIN STREAM PROPAGANDA MEDIA MACHINE FOR THEIR LATEST OF MANY PHONY DEALS AGAINST HIM
Last night, former President Donald Trump pooh-poohed any potential indictment by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg as “prosecutorial misconduct” pushed by “radical left maniacs.”
Trump made his remarks during his speech at a campaign rally in Waco, Texas, with scores of his supporters waving signs calling his persecution a "Witch Hunt" visible in the crowded background. What Trump said was a stinging rebuke to Manhattan DA Bragg, who Trump said is investigating him “for something that is not a crime, not a misdemeanor, [and] not an affair....”
Trump went so far as to clearly suggest that Bragg’s investigation and persecution was a premeditated vendetta, because Bragg had recruited a top Biden/Garland operative to be a Senior Counsel in the Manhattan DA's Office directly up from the “[U.S.] Department of Injustice” to specifically investigate and persecute him.
This is how Trump phrased it ---
“He stacked his office with D.C. operatives [including] a man named Matthew Colangelo, one of the top people in the Department of Justice, [who] was moved into the Manhattan DA’s office to make sure that Trump got taken care of. They couldn’t get it done in Washington.... [So] they sent him into New York to be in the Manhattan [DA's] office. Can you imagine that?... This is really prosecutorial misconduct. That’s what it’s called. The innocence of people makes no difference whatsoever to these radical left maniacs....”
Then Trump decried any potential indictment by Bragg as just the next hoax --- "Impeachment Hoax Number One, phony deal. Impeachment Hoax Number Two, phony deal. The Mueller Witch Hhunt, phony deal....” Trump goaded everybody gathered there in the audience; summing up that part of his speech with this >>> “So, they’re not coming after me -- they’re coming after you -- and I’m just standing in their way. And I’m going to [keep] standing in their way...."
"they’re not coming after me -- they’re coming after you"
DeleteWrong, you manipulative jagoff.
Ari tried to get Marty to take photos with him and Marty got upset. The questions begs who is Marty supporting ?
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm! Is that so?
ReplyDeletePossiblities of a Marty bolt from the fold are interesting. Or maybe the Ghorra "neutrality" stance is something that is real; after all, the word is that Brooklyn GOP Vice CHair Richard Barsamian took some real heat over a picture taken with Anna Belfiore-Delfaus during an event for Inna Vernikov, which did seem like a friendly thing for Mr. B to do at the time.
RESPONSE: THE "WHAT IS SOMEBODY TRYING TO PULL >>> HERE ??? EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 6:19 PM" & "... at 7:16 PM"
THE FIRST IS PROBABLY VERY FAKE NEWS --- AND THE SECOND IS MOST LIKELY VERY ANTI-KAGAN AND VERY GULLIBLE
IF A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS --- THEN ARI KAGAN HAS AT LEAST TWO THOUSAND WORDS WORTH >>> TO SHOW THAT MARTY GOLDEN WOULD GLADLY TAKE A PICTURE WITH HIM DURING THE BAY RIDGE ST. PATRICK'S PARADE
The more interesting pic is the one recent Democrat convert Ari took with with Parade Grand Marshal, Judge Matt D'Emic, a long-time-ago Democrat convert.
That conversion was very good for Matt and the Kings County Conervative Party --- for the Brooklyn Republicans not so much.....
Why would anybody think that the Ari Kagan switcheroo would work any better for the Republicans ???
Judge D'Emic was a democrat. Then he switched his registration to Conservative and Pataki appointed him to the bench.
ReplyDeleteHow much does Ghorra the snorer know about all of this? It can't be nothing, but it can be very close to nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe Brooklyn GOP posted its pictures of itself and its "electeds" at the Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Parade.
ReplyDeleteThey seemed proud if it, and of themselves. Instead, they should have been very ashamed, and destroyed the photoraphic evidence. It was a pathetic showing, plain and simple.
959, of course people of your ilk think you are safe from the likes of Big Bad Bragg, however mere superficial friends of convenience like you can never be truly safe from the Braggs out there. You have nobody to watch your back.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, we have our battle-tested bulwark, champion and true national leader to take care of everybody by always being in the way of guys like Bully Boy Bragg, and the Midnight Marauding Girly-man Garland as they indirectly come after us by trying to destory our buckler and sheild, Donald Trump.
