For Brian Fox and Justin Brannan, it pretty much will come down to who wins in the race that was had for the "absentee ballots" for voters from the 43rd City Council District

There are  >>> at least 1456 "absentee ballots" <<<  yet to be counted.....

The Democrats appear to have had about a five-to-one advantage in the number of "absentee ballots" requested and mailed-in to date.....

In 2020, Vito Bruno and Mark Szuszkiewicz, Republican candidates with apparent Election Night victories,  saw their substantial early leads wiped out by a deluge of Democrat absentee and/or mail-in ballots

It's been reported by Jessica Parks in the Brooklyn Paper that a Democrat observer and spokesperson said this:
“We are confident that when all the votes are counted, Councilmember Justin Brannan will be re-elected despite a nationally turbulent atmosphere. [Just like in the 2020 elections for the State Senate and the NYS Assembly in the same area as Brannan's district], absentee votes will make up the margin of victory, and Democrats have a massive 1,083 to 281 lead with absentees as of Tuesday... [And t]his Democratic edge will only grow as more ballots are returned — which is why we are confident we expect to overwhelmingly win on paper and prevail once every vote is counted.”

That is one of the reasons that Councilman Justin Brannan was quite comfortable to have Tweeted this after Brian Fox's 255 vote lead had been announced:
"...  Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. You know when people say "every vote counts"? Well, this is what what they mean. We will be fine. We just need to count every damn vote!..."

Of course, Brian Fox appeared to have been equally confident when he posted this on his campaign Facebook page:
"... With 95% of the vote in we can say we won the night! However there are still absentee and military ballots coming in and we must wait for them to be counted for a final result. We do expect to win them as well...."

At this stage, one thing is very clear  ---   this election for City Council between Brannan and Brian is far from over.....

  1. One thing is for sure, Liam will do a better job overseeing the paper ballot review for Fox than Nick Chamberass did for Vito Bruno last year.

  2. Nice try Gale.
If you read the real newspapers today you'll see justin is losing and justin has exagerated his job history.
The paper ballots wont help the person who took bay ridge for granted as he thought he was on to bigger things.

  3. Bob had the decency to recognize who won and who lost. He welcomed councilman elect Fox as the new face of the Brooklyn GOP.

  5. RESPONSE: THE "WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO WHO HAS WON BETWEEN BRANNAN AND BRIAN --- ALL THE PAPERS --- AND EVEN BOB CAPANO PRETTY MUCH AGREE THAT >>> THE INITIAL COUNT IS NOT COMPLETE" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 6:24 AM"; "... AT 8:38 AM" & "... AT 8:45 AM"

THE NY POST, DAILY NEWS, NY TIMES, BROOKLYN EAGLE, AND THE BROOKLYN PAPER PRETTY MUCH HAVE GIVEN THE SAME REPORT ON THE CURRENT STATE OF THE NYCBOE COUNT OF VOTES IN THE RACE BETWEEN BRIAN FOX AND INCUMBENT DEMOCRAT COUNCILMAN JUSTIN BRANNAN >>> AND NOT ONE OF THEM HAS DECLARED THAT BRIAN FOX IS THE WINNER

EVEN WHEN BOB CAPANO CONGRATULATED BRIAN FOX --- CAPANO DID NOT SAY THAT BRIAN FOX HAD WON OR EVEN THAT HE WAS THE LIKELY WINNER >>> READ WHAT CAPANO ACTUALLY DID SAY.....

ANOTHER THING THAT IS NOT "FOR SURE" AT ALL >>> IS THAT LIAM MC CABE HAS DONE AND/OR WILL DO ANYTHING BETTER FOR BRIAN FOX IN 2021 THAN NICK CHAMBERAS DID FOR VITO BRUNO IN 2020

Here's what Capano DID say about Fox's "winning" and Brannan's "losing": "... Congratulations to Brian Fox on a great race and clear lead.... Brannan lost critical support from voters in the summer of 2020 when Black Lives Matter agitators from outside our district invaded our community.... Brannan dared not condemn them. Instead, he blamed Republicans. He put his lot in with the socialist and defund the police wackos and it may have cost him his job...." Bob's position is loud, clear and strong. However, nowhere does he say that Brian Fox won or that Justin Brannan lost.....

BUT, THANKS FOR PLAYING; AND WE'RE GLAD THAT YOU'RE ALL HAVING SO MUCH FUN WHILE TRYING TO MAKE THINGS LOOK AND SOUND LIKE BRIAN FOX IS A "WINNER" --- AND THAT HE IS THE "NEW FACE OF THE BROOKLYN GOP" --- LET'S SEE HOW LONG THAT LASTS.....

  6. The initial count is complete. Fox won Brannen lost. Of course there will be election inference by Brannen.

  7. Wow Gale quoting Capano..is the ban officially over??

  8. Gale and others realize Capano will consider taking a position with the Adams administration.

  9. Justins race for speaker collapsed faster than his defund excuse. Marjorie Velazquez in the Bronx just gave a no vote to the white wale

  10. RESPONSE: THE "DOUBLE DOSE OF VERY FAKE NEWS" ESITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:33 AM"

    U R JUAN DUMPH UCK !!!

FIRST --- EVEN THOUGH THE BOE RELEASES WHAT USED TO BE CALLED THE "MACHINE COUNT" OR SOME TIMES THE "WIRE SERVICES COUNT"; AND NOW THEY CALL IT THE "SKANNER REPORT"; THEY REALLY AREN'T ANYTHING LIKE AN "INITIAL COUNT" BECAUSE EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT THEY ARE INCOMPLETE AND "UNOFFICIAL" TABULATIONS OF THE VOTE

SECOND --- FOX DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING; AND BRANNAN DIDN'T LOSE ANYTHING (EXCEPT SOME STREET CRED AS A VOTE GETTER AND/OR AS AN OBSERVER OF THE MOOD OF THE VOTERS)

THREE --- RESORTING TO THE AVAILABLE ADMINISTRATIVE AND JUDICIAL METHODS OF CHALLENGING ELECTION IRREGULARITIES ISN'T ELECTION INTERFERENCE IN ANY WAY --- REGARDLESS OF WHO MIGHT DO IT

If anything is an "initial count" it will come after the official "recanvas" of the vote, which is the only official canvas of the vote..... Based on the "2021 Political Calendar" from the NYS BOE, that will take place no later than November 17th..... with the "Certification and transmission of Canvass of General Election returns by County Board(s) of Elections" on November 27th.....

  12. Giving Capano the community assistance unit commish job is not only a favor to Markowiz but is a bone to the GOP including Catsimatidis who Adam's is close with. Of course Capano is qualified for the spot as Director of Community Boards with Markowitz

  13. Justin spokesman told press the ballots are in the mail.

Is that what its come to?

  14. All the commenters last summer saying Fox had no money should see the Post. It reports Juston only spent 84k while Fox spent 190k. Justin didnt feel the need to campaign. Oh and the speaker thing fizzled.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 2:32 PM" & "... AT 4:24 PM"

THERE IS NO GOTHAMIST REPORT THAT JUSTIN BRANNAN IS DOWN BY 2000 VOTES --- THE VOTE TOTALS FOR THE FOX-BRANNAN RACE ON THE GOTHAMIST ELECTION STATS PAGE ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ONES THAT WE REPORTED ABOVE ON THIS BLOG

BRANNAN SEEMS TO HAVE MADE THE SAME MISTAKE AS MARTY GOLDEN DID IN 2018 --- TAKING THEIR OPPONENT FOR GRANTED, AND NOT SPENDING AVAILABLE FUNDS DURING AN UNEXPECTEDLY CLOSE ELECTION

Early in Fox's 2021 campaign for City Council, he was very slow to get to the matching funds threshhold, and Brannan could easily have outspent him at that time --- things changed, and Brannan didn't notice and/or make the right adjustments to the changed situation.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The numbers speak for themselves. Justin felt no need to campaign. He steered money into an account that funded other council races. But he took his own race for granted.

    Bistreich had the last laugh.

  17. Maybe after Fox is re-elected 2525 will Gale recognize the voters

IF SO, YOU ARE PROBABLY AS OLD AS WE ARE --- AND YOUR MUSICAL ALLUSIONS ARE EVERY BIT AS SUBTLE AND/OR TORTURED

[CUE THE GREAT ONE] "RAY, HOW ABOUT A LITTLE TRAVELLING MUSIC...".....

"In the year 2525, if man is still alive
If woman can survive, they may find

  19. So what are the results? I just read 18 stupid comments with 18 sets of results.

  20. NY 1 just updated the results. Fox is leading by 378 votes.

  21. RESPONSE: THE "ONE SET OF RESULTS" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 9:30 AM" & "... AT 10:38 AM"

JUST READ OUR MAIN TEXT AND IGNORE THE REST OF THE NOISE..... THE COMMENT BY "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:38 AM" LOOKS LIKE MORE FAKE NEWS --- WE QUICKLY CHECKED THE NY 1 STATS AS UPDATED AND THEY REMAINED UNCHANGED AT ABOUT !0:45 AM THIS MORNING

The articles in all of the more credible parts of the media are consistent --- Fox is ahead right now by 255 votes [and not by 378 votes], but that lead is very likely to be wiped out when the absentee ballots are counted on November 15th.

A notable article in the "Patch" said that city-wide the GOP requested more absentee ballots than the Democrats, but in District 43 a completely opposite situation prevailed, with Democrats requesting more absentee ballots than Republicans by a ratio of about two-to-one.

In several articles, most recently in the "Patch" and on CBS News, it is Justin Brannan who repeatedly spoke about the details of his expected win once the absentee ballots are counted. He is also conducting himself like the real winner and a city-wide leader by going to a big gathering of NY City movers and shakers being held in Puerto Rico so that he could continue his campaign for City Council Speaker.

Back to the details of the counting of votes --- the article in the Patch said it most clearly >>> "[After talking about other aspects of the Fox -Brannan race] .... But the race isn't over yet.... The city Board of Elections reported that it sent 2,379 absentee ballots to Democrats in Brannan's 43rd Council District and 891 to Republican and other voters. As of Wednesday afternoon, the board said it had received nearly half of the ballots back...."

  22. Nobody talks about Mark Suszkeriweicz who is closer to Ari Kagen than justin the loser is to fox. GOP could take six council seats.

  23. RESPONSE: THE "MORE FAKE NEWS FROM PEOPLE THAT SEEM TO WANT TO STAY ON STAGE A LITTLE WHILE LONGER" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 1:46 PM"

FIRST: MARK SZUSZKIEWICZ IS NOT AS CLOSE TO ARI KAGAN AS BRANNAN IS TO FOX --- FOX LEADS BY 255 VOTES AGAINST BRANNAN, AND KAGAN LEADS BY 283 VOTES AGAINST SZUSZKIEWICZ

SECOND: THE DEMOCRATS HAVE ROGHLY THE SAME TWO-TO-ONE ADVANTAGE (DEMOCRATS COMPARED TO ALL OTHER CATEGORIES COMBINED) IN THE 1,121 ABSENTEE BALLOTS RECEIVED BACK BY THE BOE FOR THE KAGAN-SZUSZKIEWICZ ELECTION --- COMPARED TO THE 1456 ABSENTEE BALLOTS RECEIVED BACK BY THE BOE IN THE BRANNAN-FOX ELECTION

Both Justin Brannan and Mark Szuszkiewicz have to sled uphill to win their elections, but Brannan doesn't have to sled as far, and he has more momentum and snow under his sled.

  24. Every count has been consistent. Justin is losing losing losing.

So who is the pathetic one now ?

    ReplyDelete
  25. RESPONSE: THE "WHAT'S REALLY PATHETIC IS HOW YOU MISPERCEIVE SO MUCH" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 2:55 PM"

YOU ARE FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG WHEN YOU SAY THAT "EVERY COUNT HAS BEEN CONSISTENT" --- THERE HAS BASICALLY BEEN ONLY ONE UNOFFICIAL COUNT THAT IS WIDELY KNOWN TO BE QUITE INCOMPLETE --- THAT INCOMPLETE COUNT HAS BEEN REPORTED UPON WITH RELATIVE CONSISTENCY BY SEVERAL MEDIA OUTLETS AND THE BOE SINCE THE DAY AFTER THE ELECTION

WHEN YOU SAY, "JUSTIN IS LOSING LOSING LOSING" YOU ARE BEING FAR LESS CLEAR AND DESCRIPTIVE THAN IF YOU HAD SAID SIMPLY, "JUSTIN IS LOSING...."

AND WHEN YOU ASK, "SO WHO IS THE PATHETIC ONE NOW ?" --- I WOULD SUGGEST THAT IS IS YOU, AS MUCH AS ANYONE, SIR OR MADAM.....

We should never forget the lines that Hemingway borrowed from John Dunne --- "... any man's death [or abject and utter failing resulting in pathos] diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee...."

  26. Did famed "consultant " Nick Chamberass work for anyone this election?

  27. I guess this Hemingway guy wasnt around while you consistetly mocked Fox. Every posting was critical of the Fox fundraisers, rallys, and house partys.

Justin stayed home because hes lazy arrogant and soon will be jobless because he is useless.

I PRAY THAT BOTH BRIAN FOX AND LIAM MC CABE OVERCOME THEIR DEMONS AND REFORM THEIR WICKED WAYS --- HOWEVER, IF THEY HAVE SUCCSESS IN THEIR WICKEDNESS, CAN WE TRULY EXPECT EITHER OF THEM TO REFORM AND GIVE UP THOSE DEMONS ???

Let's face it, "... the Fox fundraisers, rallys, and house partys..." were just one shit-show after another. If Fox and McCabe did things right, this match against Brannan would be out-of-the-wood by now, like Inna Vernikov's against Steve Saperstein.

  33. The Democrats should all be kissing Justin's ass in Macy's window that they were even able to hold onto this seat and that any other Dem candidate would have got destroyed by the Republicans in southern Brooklyn but Justin held the line against a Republican wave and again only JB could have done it. JB's candidacy stopped a Republican who would have beaten all the other Dems in the city !
