OMG !!! Did Brian Fox get caught in a big bad lie about his opponent ?????

 

Things just seem to be going from bad to worse for Brian Fox and his Campaign for City Council 

At this early stage of things, it looks like the Fox campaign has made the unforced error of being caught in a major lie  --- by falsely claiming that his opponent, City Councilman Justin Brannan, was responsible for cancelling the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade 

Unfortunately for Brian Fox, that lie was exposed by none other than the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade Committee on their Facebook Page early on Sunday, May 30th  >>>  when they announced that Councilman Brannan Brannan had offered to help stage a more regular style Bay Ridge Memorial Day Parade, but that the Parade Committee had been "locked-in" to alternative plans (their complete comment on Facebook is quoted below)

This is what appeared on the "Brian Fox for City Council" Facebook page a couple of days ago:

"Brian Fox for City Council is in Bay Ridge....   May 28 at 11:10 AM....  On Memorial Day we remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice, the least we could do is honor them properly. Sad to see Staten Island elected officials went to bat for those who have served our country, but Brooklyn's elected officials did not. I guess making sure the Memorial Day parade marched down the streets of Bay Ridge was not a priority of Councilman Justin Brannan who is a longtime ally of the Mayor. He should have made an effort - our servicemen and women deserve nothing less." THE BAY RIDGE PARADE COMMITTEE PUBLISHED RESPONSE

Here' s the response by the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade [Committee] on their Facebook page:  "Brooklyn's Memorial Day Parade....  May 30, @ 9:00 AM....  Veterans have staged Brooklyn’s Memorial Day Parade since I became involved almost 30 years ago, and many years before that. The community has supported us with donations and assistance for many years. We are very grateful for that. Brooklyn’s Memorial Day Parade is not, and has never been run by politicians. If you wanted to know anything about the parade all you had to do was reach out to me or any member of the executive committee. All of our local politicians have supported this parade and they all respected the solemnity of the day. Both Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis and Councilman Justin Brannan did call me and ask if they could help. I said that we were already locked into holding another motorcade that included a float and vintage military vehicles going over to the VA hospital on Poly Place and then onto John Paul Jones Park for our memorial service. The committee of mainly Veterans that runs this parade did this as a collective decision. Brooklyn’s parade is very different from the one in Staten Island. It is much, much bigger and involves a yearlong effort to organize. We did not have enough time to put together a conventional parade to honor all those service members who paid such a terrible price for us. For anyone to politicize this event is just wrong, and highlights the negatives of social media, pick up a phone. All those who are using the parade to bring up the past and to snipe at one another, stop it. All the men and women who lost their lives in selfless service to our country deserve better."
