The drip, drip, drip slow tortured death of GOP State Senate Candidate Vito Bruno has begun
Don't be fooled by the >>> TITLE <<< and the >>> PHONY PORTRAIT shot of Vito Bruno, apparently right near the Brooklyn Bridge <<< this article in the "Brooklyn Paper" was a hit piece done in a polite whisper
Here's the money shot worthy of a "Dirk Diggler" closeup >>> "....Bruno’s promise to crack down on crime, however, contradicts his past life as New York’s clubbing king, when his 'outlaw' parties at AM/PM lasted hours after the city’s curfew. In 1983, he told the New York Times that he gave hefty cash Christmas presents to police officers, implying that he bribed them to turn the other cheek to AM/PM’s late-night, drug-fueled parties.... Bruno would also fetch drugs for his celebrity friends, retrieving cocaine and Quaaludes for his good friend John Belushi, according to Bob Woodward’s 1984 book 'Wired'...”
Of course, the "Brooklyn Paper" also gave Mr. Bruno a chance to rebut that >>> in remarks that were attributed to Bruno as follows: "... [what Bob Woodward wrote in 1984 is] — a claim that Bruno now denies.... 'I never gave drugs to anybody'... arguing that his former club life is water under the bridge. 'Talking about that is a waste of time. Nobody is the same person today that they were 40 years ago.'..." <<<
Hey, don't believe me, read it for yourself (See "Nightlife Icon Running For State Senate in Southern Brooklyn" by Rose Adams, 3/4/2020, The Brooklyn Paper/ Politics [https://www.brooklynpaper.com/nightlife-icon-running-for-state-senate-in-southern-brooklyn/]).
Not long ago, a pro-Vito Bruno comment maker stated that only the folks of left wing "Bring Back Bay Ridge" and "Radio Free Bay Ridge" were talking about this stuff --- I rebutted that by pointing out that we here at "The Brooklyn & Staten Island Independent GOP Fountainhead" had been touting those lurid tales for quite some time >>> and we are an Alt-center independent libertarian Republican blog --- WELL, NOW IT'S IN ONE OF THE LOCAL PAPERS. And Vito's supporters are free to whine that the "Brooklyn Paper".and the article's writer, Rose Adams, are left, right, center, front or back, or sideways or inside out.
[Cue Lesley Gore]:
"It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to, cry if I want to
You would cry too if it happened to you...."
I hope that nobody thinks that this stuff doesn't have grasshopper legs, or that it won't keep popping up all summer long and into the fall --- everybody has to know that it will.
[Cue Walter Huston]
"Oh, it's a long, long while from Ma[rch] to December
But the days grow short when you reach SeptemberWhen the autumn weather turns the leaves to flameOne hasn't got time for the waiting game....Oh, the days dwindle down to a precious fewSeptember, November....
Politics 101: When a candidate says something is not an issue, or no longer relevant ... you can be damn certain it's like a dagger to their throat.
ReplyDeleteBob Woodward is small time. The Home Reporter is what counts.
ReplyDeleteWhat is this? Is Kassar stark raving mad? Doesn't anybody inside the Republican Party see this at all?
ReplyDeleteHow would this look in a piece of Opposition Lit: "Bruno’s promise to crack down on crime... contradicts his past life ... his 'outlaw' parties at AM/PM lasted hours after the city’s curfew.... In 1983... he gave hefty cash Christmas presents to police officers... he bribed them .... Bruno would also fetch drugs for his celebrity friends, retrieving cocaine and Quaaludes for his good friend John Belushi...." What is Vito Bruno Bruno's answer to all that? "Bruno now ... arg[ues] that his former club life is water under the bridge. 'Talking about that is a waste of time. Nobody is the same person today that they were 40 years ago.'"
GM and anybody else salivating over this are a bunch of nuts. Vito Bruno was 20 years old when the stuff with John Belushi went down and even in Woodward’s book it doesn’t say he was his drug dealer he was his close friend. This was over forty years ago. And this from the same paper who said Marty Golden was a cold blooded murderer. If the Dems are going that far already and planting stories from a journalist obsessed with expanding bike lanes Vito must have a decent shot after all.
ReplyDelete"Nobody is the same person today they were 40 years ago." -every guy doing a life bid for slinging dope
ReplyDeleteStop the presses! What? When Vito was running a nightclub in his early twenties during the early 80’s he was around drugs and is accused of paid off cops and the mob? Even though this was forty years ago he should be thrown in prison and beaten with a rubber hose repeatedly. This is a non story that only the most hard core local progressives care about.
ReplyDeleteLiam's entire family is on Diblasio payroll
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "OMG --- MY FRIENDS AMONG THE "HARDCORE LOCAL PROGRESSIVES" WILL BE SHOCKED" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 8:50 PM" & "... AT 11:36 PM"
YOU FOLKS HAVE ME THOROUGHLY CONFUSED WITH YOUR SILLY DEFENSES OF THE ILLEGAL AND IRRESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR OF VITO BRUNO WHILE HE WAS MAKING LOTS OF MONEY RUNNING A MANHATTAN AFTER HOURS JOINT --- AND YOUR LOGIC.....
BEFORE, SOMEBODY COMMENTED ON BEHALF OF VITO BRUNO THAT IT NEVER HAPPENED AND THAT IT WAS SOMETHING LIKE "WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE" --- NOW, THE DEFENSE OF THE MOMENT SEEMS TO BE THAT VITO BRUNO WAS VERY YOUNG AND FOOLISH WHEN ALL THE POLICE CORRUPTION AND MOVING DRUGS THROUGH THE AFTER HOURS PLACE AM/PM WENT DOWN
So, is Vito going to do a "Full Monty" 12-Step style "Mea Culpa" and tell everyone what a complete shit he was for all his youthful excesses and all the people that he hurt, like his "friend," John Belushi ???
Also, is it Vito Bruno's position that the Republicans and Conservatives supporting him don't care about police corruption, or people, who for fun and profit, supply their "friends" with drugs, even when they were obviously circling the drain and ready to go down for the count.....
Altogether now: after the baldy-haired guy says, "My name is Vito Bruno." You answer with enthusiasm, "HI, VITO !!!!!
Every NYC cop and firefighter is on the DeBlasio payroll.
ReplyDeleteVito needs to stop listening to certain people
ReplyDeleteAltogether now! Galewynn was sold a bill of goods and was actually waiting for Liam’s announcement at the Seergy Club. Vito never gave drugs to anyone and he made that clear in the interview. If you owned any bar or nightclub in the early 80’s you were around drugs, mobsters, and dirty cops. Even Gale knows that but has no choice but to double down on this nonsense as he sincerely waits for Liam’s next announcement date.
ReplyDeleteIf every club promoter was around drugs then don't nominate a club promoter
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "BROOKLYN GOP AND VITO B ARE ALL DOING THE 'SQUIRM LIKE A WORM' DANCE" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 6:51 AM"
OK, I GET IT --- A MOVING TARGET IS TOUGHER TO HIT --- NOW, VITO BRUNO'S DEFENSE IS THE CLASSIC "EVERYBODY DID IT".....
LET'S RECAPITULATE --- FIRST, IT WAS "IT NEVER HAPPENED": BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT WAS "WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE" THAT HAPPENED FORTY YEARS AGO (ACTUALLY, IT'S >>> 37 <<< YEARS AGO, ALMOST TO THE DAY) --- THEN, IT WAS VITO WAS YOUNGER AND MORE FOOLISH THEN AND NOW HE'S CHANGED --- AND THAT GETS US UP TO "EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT EVERYBODY DID IT" --- BUT WHAT NEVER CHANGES IS THAT VITO BRUNO SAYS THAT HE MADE LOTS OF MONEY DOING IT.....
What Vito Bruno made clear in the recent "Brooklyn Paper" interview by Rose Adams is that >>> NOW <<< Vito is denying that he ever gave anybody drugs. I think that I made that quite clear in my main post above --- I quoted the article quoting Vito.....
If Vito were being cross-examined on the stand in court (and there are transcripts, I'm sure), the prosecutor would ask, "And, Mr. Bruno, was your memory better when you spoke to Ms. Adams in 2020, running as the Conservative-Republican Candidate for the State Senate, or was it better back in the mid-1980s when you spoke to Bob Woodward, shortly after you last were with John Belushi, while you were still running AM/PM, which everybody says was awash with all kinds of drugs, and while you still had the Rolls Royce Saloon with a chauffeur that you lent to John Belushi to get him out of your club; because the way Belushi was acting, 'it was too dangerous' on that last night at AM/PM ???"
Gail, it looks more and more like Vito Bruno has put John Quaglione completely in charge of his damage control operation. Can you confirm that for the rest of us?
ReplyDeleteGM you’re such a “genius” except for the fact that Vito never told Bob Woodward anything like that. And John Belushi died on the West Coast. Vito Bruno was a close friend and you are exploring a personal tragedy.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "NOW WE'RE GETTING SOMEWHERE" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:22 AM"
MAYBE, VITO CAN TELL US NOW (IN 2020) EXACTLY WHAT HE DID TELL BOB WOODWARD IN THE MID-1980s WHEN WOODWARD WAS RESEARCHING FOR "WIRED" --- THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD PLACE TO START THIS "EXPLORING" --- AS YOU CALL IT.....
If I were you, I might have said, "Vito Bruno was a close friend and you are >>> EXPLOITING <<< a personal tragedy."
But of course, that would have left you and Vito wide open to being gobsmacked with this: "Vito Bruno was a close friend of John Belushi's: and only a close friend like Vito should be allowed to exploit John Belushi's personal tragedy in a tell-all book by Bob Woodward."
Gale seriously you're out of line with Vito, you're chasing typos from posters. Liam's people or whoever sold you a bill of goods full of nonsense, just cut your losses instead of doubling down. It's obvious Gounardes people much more afraid of Vito who can raise lots of money and get his name out there more than anybody else. If you go on social media you see every local far left "ban cars" wacko group is furiously attacking Vito. And he's not from any particular faction in the Brooklyn GOP, he wants to bring everybody together so we can win. Why don't you just give him a chance instead of going after him all the time?
ReplyDeleteWe now have John Belushi's former cocaine dealer running for office, How ugly are the skeletons in Liam's closet? Ted Ghorra picked Vito over Liam?!?
ReplyDeleteJohn Belushi will be having an announcement at the Seergy club on Monday March 16 @ 2 pm.
ReplyDelete1022 is FAKE NEWS. Verbatim quote from Woodward's notes telephone conversation with Vito: "We got two grams of coke and two black beauties for him."
ReplyDeleteHim = Belushi, but who cares, what the hell was Vito and crew doing fetching coke and speed for anybody?
12:30 is just creepy. Vito has long denied what was in the Woodward book. He was 20 years old hanging out with celebrities. Anybody who actually looks that stuff up now from over 40 years ago and doesn’t work for Gounardes needs a crisis intervention.
ReplyDeleteLiam couldn’t raise two nickels. The local party is broke so is the state party. Liam dogged Ghorra in public totally humiliating him on multiple occasions. No other candidate could even afford to do a mailing. Vito did the party a favor and the whole committee knows it.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "LET'S KISS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO ANY AND ALL VITO BRUNO SUPPORTERS --- LET'S KISS --- AS IN: "LET'S KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID !!!" --- AND IT DON'T GET NO SIMPLER THAN THIS:
FIRST, VITO BRUNO IS WITHOUT DOUBT OR RESERVATION AN >>> UNFIT CANDIDATE <<< FOR THE NEW YORK STATE SENATE IN THE VIEW OF THIS SOMEWHAT LIBERTARIAN, SOMEWHAT FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN BLOG MODERATOR
SECOND, VITO BRUNO WILL DESTROY THE CHANCES OF ANYBODY RUNNING WITH HIM ON ANY GOP-CONSERVATIVE TICKET --- THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, NICOLE MALLIOTAKIS, WHO ALREADY HAS ENOUGH OF HER OWN BAGGAGE TO DEAL WITH
Let me say this one more time, with feeling: "Let's KISS".....
12:30 has every detail wrong. It was 3 grams of coke and 5 yellow jackets.
ReplyDeleteIs George Smith endorsing Vito Bruno?
ReplyDeleteYea KISS. Let’s keep it simple schmatte. Gale you were fed a crock of hsit by one of your last few sources who was just jaded. You have two or three people with access to inside information from either party and we know Republicans stopped talking to you long ago. I hear Vito was caught jaywalking twenty years after Carter left the White House. Guess that means you’ll be waiting for another Liam announcement. Ahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteThis is your party on drugs. Any questions?
ReplyDeleteAny word on Vito whereabouts tonight? I could use a bump.
ReplyDeleteBACKFILL: THE "KEEPING IT 'SIMPLE' --- THE VITO BRUNO INTERVIEW NOTES" EDITION
ReplyDeleteIT'S ON >>> GOOGLE <<< --- IT'S ABOUT BOB WOODWARD'S BOOK --- IT SAYS IT'S "VITO BRUNO'S INTERVIEW NOTES"
IT REALLY LOOKS A LOT LIKE VITO BRUNO SAID, "WE GOT TWO GRAMS OF COKE AND TWO BLACK BEAUTIES FOR [JOHN BELUSHI THAT NIGHT]
The Vito Bruno's getting two grams of Coke and two Black Beauties for John Belushi information is preserved in the after-notes for page 337 and pages 337-338 in Bob Woodward's book, "Wired." And in the text of "Wired" it says this: ".... John found Vito and got a gram of coke."
We need Liam..its not too late. Let's end this mockery now. Vito should drop out.
ReplyDeleteSo Vito has had an alternative lifestyle. It's a big tent.
ReplyDeleteWe need Liam to understand that the committee didn't choose him he's too arrogant, obnoxious, and disrespectful. He's the only one who thinks everything is about him all the time.
ReplyDeleteIt will be Liam's Brooklyn GOP when Vito goes down in flames..watch
ReplyDeleteLet's get something straight Jimmy. There is only person posting this crap and that's you. Every person who reads this blog knows who you are. Lately Liam, Justin, and the lefties at FBBR and RFBR are the only ones who will talk to you. And just like you were roped into the "Liam is announcing at the Seergy Club" hilarious hoax, you are casting nasty aspersions about Vito. As for "toadies" Liam has done more to boost Ted's popularity than the best pr team could imagine. First openly confronting Ted and Ed Cox at the Wicked Month as if he was fighting for Langworthy when everyone knew Ed had already made a deal to back out. He embarrassed himself and the Brooklyn GOP for not showing any restraint and class. Then he openly tried to overthrow Ted and make himself Chair and that went no where fast and didn't even show up to the Reorg hoping they couldn't make a quorum. We all know how that turned out. Then he showed up to a packed Executive committee meeting yelling at Ghorra repeatedly in front of everyone, and insulting the entire committee by claiming he didn't know most of the people in the room and hadn't heard of them either. Of course how could anyone who is on committee without Liam approval be worthy? Keep it up and you'll be going back to posting and then being the only one responding to your own posts.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "BOY DO I HATE HAVING TO SAY THIS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 11:58 AM"
YOU HAD IT RIGHT AT "WE NEED LIAM..." --- PERIOD --- FULL STOP !!!!!
AND ISN'T IT TIME TO LOOK UP VITO BRUNO'S ASS FOR SOME 1970s & 1980s ERA ELECTRONIC LISTENING DEVICES --- AS WELL AS A COUPLE OF MISSING CAGES-FULL OF RODENTIA GERBILLINAE
COMING SOON --- WON'T YOU BE MY ANTHONY HADEN-GUEST ?????
Heavens knows that those of us running this blog have been very critical of Liam McCabe, perhaps even nastier than we needed to be, all things considered..... Nonetheless, he is a worthy part of the mix for the Brooklyn GOP going forward --- candidate in the next election cycle or GOP County Chairman anytime very soon --- MAYBE NOT.....
Nonetheless, all your bullshit about "arrogant, obnoxious and disrespectful" --- don't forget that was all in the face of Ted Ghorra and a few of the Ghorra-Golden handpicked toadies on the KCRP Executive Committee. GOOD JOB LIAM.....
Compared to that >>> DUMPSTER FIRE <<< Vito Bruno, Liam looks like a cross between Saint Francis of Assisi and Winston Churchill.....
FYI --- I checked out all of the following: Fight Back Bay Ridge and Radio Free Bay Ridge; and the direct feeds from Brannan and Gounardes --- and combined, all those liberal-progressive-left-wing-radical types don't have a fraction of the stuff that we and our readers have pounded Mr. Bruno with on this Independent Republican blog concerning his participation in felonious police corruption and felonious drug trafficking, all in the context of his being a trendy night life promoter and hooked-up businessman.
Can we really be sure that the title of Woodward's book "Wired" only referred to Belushi's high-wire act, and not to how one of his close associates in the NYC night life scene always avoided any significant jail time, when so many business associates got plenty of time-out at state and federal resorts.
It must kill Liam to see Vito Bruno getting all the bad stories about his shadey past
ReplyDeleteIt could have been Liam getting all the bad stories about his shadey past!
RESPONSE: THE "INK SPOTS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 12:58 PM"
>>> NOW <<< YOU'VE PISSED ME OFF !!!!! --- AND ALL MY REGULAR READERS KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS --- YES, IT'S TIME FOR A SONG.....
TO VITO BRUNO --- "IF I DIDN'T CARE" *
[Cue Bill Kenny]
"If I didn't care more than words can say
If I didn't care, would I feel this way?
If this isn't love then why do I thrill?
And what makes my head go 'round and 'round
While my heart stands still?
If I didn't care, would it be the same?
Would my every prayer begin and end with just your name?
And would I be sure that this is love beyond compare?
Would all this be true if I didn't care for you?
[Spoken by Orville "Hoppy" Jones, the guy with the deep voice, who can't sing all that much]
If I didn't care
Honey child, more than words can say
If I didn't care
Would I feel this way?
Darlin' if this isn't love
Then why do I thrill so much?
And what is it that makes my head go 'round...."
[Back to Bill Kenny for the high-end finish]
If I didn't care, would it be the same?
Would my every prayer begin and end with just your name?
And would I be sure that this is love beyond compare?
Would all this be true if I didn't care for you?

ReplyDeleteAnyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Sign a Bruno petition and get a couple black betties and a couple grams of coke
