A new team of Brooklyn Republicans, Democrats & the Brooklyn Reform Party chairman say: ... Hyper-political divisiveness is >>> Out of Control <<< And it is time for more >>> Civility and Unity <<< in our political and civic discussions
If you are tired of the extreme political divisiveness that has been building to a crescendo lately, five Brooklyn political veterans and civic leaders say that they don't want to be part of that problem anymore. Instead, they have formed a new non-partisan club to foster dialogue and civility in the south end of the borough.
These latter day partisans have joined to form a budding group that wants talk about the issues, which often are what is causing that growing divide. includes two Republicans, two Democrats, and a member of the Reform Party.
The new West Brooklyn Neighborhood Club's founding members now include the following: Craig Eaton, the former Brooklyn GOP Chairman and Regional Vice Chairman of the NYS GOP for New York City; James McCall, long a GOP activist and often a candidate; Bob Capano, the Kings County Reform Party Chairman who has worked for both Republican and Democratic elected officials; Ralph Perfetto, a veteran neighborhood public servant and Bay Ridge Democratic District Leader, as well as a City-wide deputy Ombudsman; and John O'Hara, a Sunset Park Democratic activist, who has fostered independent reform in the courts, and successfully in the Brooklyn DA's Office. However, all of these new colleagues agree that there are times when intensely partisan politics needs to be tossed aside for the sake of community interests.
The five announced that their group is an "opportunity for us to come together as a community, regardless of political affiliations.... [And i]n light of the hyper political divisiveness that is out of control, it is time for more civility and unity. We welcome anyone to join us because there is much more that unites us as Brooklynites than divides us. Our goal is to bring together residents to exchange ideas on improving our communities with respect in a social atmosphere."
Initially, the group plans to meet socially at local establishments, with a goal of eventually holding formal monthly forums with guest speakers. The West Broooklyn Neighborhood Club is planning their first event next month, where they hope other like-minded residents will join their ranks.
Gale, you lost me with Perfetto and O'Hara.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Perfetto and O'hara?
ReplyDeleteWas Perfetto's former co-leader not available? She was Rudiano's co-conspirator at the Board of Elections, erroneously purging 18,000 voters before the 2016 presidential primary, and got fired for it.
Maybe David Berkowitz can be an honorary member. Not sure what party he was in.
Capano and Eaton stronger than ever

I JUST REPORTED THE FACTS AS THEY WERE GIVEN TO ME IN A RELEASE..... FOR A LITTLE MORE BACKGROUND MAYBE YOU SHOULD LOOK AT JULIANNE CUBA'S ARTICLE ABOUT THE SAME CLUB
According to Ms. Cuba, "Five local veteran politicos are teaming up to start a so-called nonpartisan club as a way to take the divisiveness out of politics, and instead reach across the aisle to get more done in the neighborhood, according to one of the club’s founders...." (See "Republicans found ‘non-partisan’ club" by Julianne Cuba, 10/11/18, Courier Life's "Brooklyn Daily/ Party Line [https://www.brooklyndaily.com/stories/2018/41/pl-party-line-2018-10-12-bk.html]).
Wow you can't keep Eaton and Capano down ..so much for muzzles..they are more relevant than ever before, especially this election cycle..and this new club cements their place for a long time to come after the Bklyn GOP dies with Goldens loss
ReplyDelete12:46 PM, do a little fact checking. As far as I know, Ralph's opposite number is now and always has been someone who has her own business and doesn't work for the BOE.
ReplyDeleteHey 1:25, it said "former co-leader" ... as in the woman who got canned from the Board of Elections with Rudiano.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pack of loons.

MORE DEBATE LIES FROM SENATOR GOLDEN, THIS TIME ABOUT THE 2005 FATAL "ACCIDENT"
ReplyDeleteWHAT IS HE COVERING UP?
IT MUST BE REAL BAD!
Did Marty Golden really say what Bklyner.com's Kadia Goba reported today about his 2005 car accident that killed the old woman?
I don't know why he lies about something so significant and thinks he can get away with it.
What isn't a lie sounds like it's by somebody with Alzheimer's or some other kind of dementia. Here's how Marty Golden responded to a question about the 2005 vehicular homicide when questioned about it at the Dyker Civic Association debate, according to Kadia Goba, “It was an accident!” Golden yelled. “An accident where a woman crossed the street, crossed against the light. My car — my what do you call it — my rear view window hit her. She went down. She suffered a head injury. It was found at the hospital that she had cancer, cancer of the stomach, she could die six months later.”
The way things stand, Marty thinks that no more information about any of this is necessary for the public or the press, even the huge amount that he paid the victims family, which has already been reported in the Daily News. Such a large payout definitely implies negligence, possibly gross negligence or other aggravating factors.
Again, according to the Kadia Goba report, Marty Golden said this: ".... 'I feel sorry for the family and they should have never brought that up,' [Golden] said of the audience member who asked the questions at Tuesday’s debate."
Marty's biggest lie here is that the family of the woman he killed needs to release all the police reports about this accident, when Mr. Golden knows very well that he can do it by himself.
12:46 & 1:40, admit when you got it completely wrong. Who do you think Ralph's co-leader has been all these years?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteThe Brooklyn GOP would never have been thoroughly embarrassed at a Dyker Heights Forum under Craig Eaton’s watch. There were mostly Democrats in the room and they drowned out the GOP. Embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a movement that can matter. It's a one party town and those New Kings democrats are just an extension of the machine.
ReplyDeleteA well-known independent Democrat consultant and activist county-wide in Kings is very intrigued by the Eaton-Capano-Perfetto club that crosses several party lines. So intrigued that one of the other early members reached out to say this person approached him and says that he 'wants in'. The rub is that he doesn't live in anything that fits the description of West Brooklyn. That shouldn't be a problem though, one of the other founding members said that the club has few if any restrictions and that includes geographical descriptions of 'West Brooklyn'.
ReplyDeleteW.B.I.D stood for 'West Brooklyn Independent Democrats' and that meant parts of South Brooklyn, Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights.
ReplyDeleteWest Brooklyn can include parts of Park Slope.
ReplyDeletewhy not include buffalo
ReplyDeleteI hear this new non partisan club is creating quite a buzz..congrats
ReplyDeleteOver the years, Ralph has had three co-leaders and they were Joan Millman, Elizabeth Rose Daly and Joanne Seminaria, none of whom has ever worked at the Board of Elections. I think you are confusing Ralph with Joe Bova (the womean in question also made an aborted attempt to be the co-leader of Kevin Peter Carroll, who is also not only not Ralph, but once beat Ralph).

How's retirement ???
Let's talk soon over lunch and catch up.....
UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "IT LOOKS LIKE MARTY'S PRO-PEDOPHILE PROTECTION LIES HAVE LEGS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteYESTERDAY KENNETH LOVETT GOT ONTO THIS BUSINESS WITH AN EXCELLENT COLUMN IN THE NY DAILY NEWS --- IF PIECES LIKE MR. LOVETT'S KEEP HAMMERING STATE SENATOR GOLDEN [AND THE DEMONSTRATIONS LIKE THE ONE AT GOLDEN'S OFFICE LAST WEEK ABOUT HIS INSULTING LIES KEEP RECURRING], I'M SURE THAT MR. GOLDEN WILL SOON BE ABLE TO >>> REMEMBER <<< WHICH "CHILD VICTIMS ACT" MOST NEW YORKERS ARE TALKING ABOUT.....
WHO KNOWS, MAYBE MARTY MIGHT EVENTUALLY CHANGE HIS POSITION AND GET ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THIS ISSUE --- EXCEPT THAT HE CAN'T, BECAUSE HE PERSONALLY IDENTIFIES MORE WITH THE PEDOPHILE PRIESTS AND NOT THE VICTIMS
It's all there in glorious black and white --- Kenneth Lovett and the NY Daily News take Marty Golden to the woodshed for lying about his hardcore opposition to the "Child Victims Act" at the Dyker Civic Association debate..... I'll let you read it for yourself; it is very worthwhile (See "State Senator Marty Golden plays dumb over Child Victims Act" by Kenneth Lovett, 10/11/18, NY Daily News/ Politics/ News [http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ny-pol-golden-gounardes-child-victims-act-20181010-story.html]).
AND, YES, WE HERE AT THE "... FOUNTAINHEAD" HAVE BEEN ONTO MARTY GOLDEN'S PRO-PEDOPHILE-PROTECTION LIES FOR A LONG, LONG TIME

[This comment is copied and placed on this comments thread so that it isn't missed [I think it's that important] --- the original comment appears in the comments thread to my 10/7/18 post "During the debate, State Senator Martin Golden continued his very longtime pattern of lies about his positions favoring priestly pedophile protection and opposing justice for their victims"]
Gail, don't you think that this non-partisan club of yours is just another way of trying to bring all the anti-Marty Golden people into one big tent; and allow Eaton to get a few wacks in at Marty without openly or formally opposing him?
ReplyDeleteI have mostly been working pretty steadily in "retirement"--had election law clients in both cycles, doing writing and research for other attorneys, per dime appearances, an occasional piece of legal work on my own, plus some light political consulting and free lance writing. Will be starting part time as a hearing officer at OATH soon. Could always use some more work--you got any GOP state committee candidates next year who need an election lawyer?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, email me at howardgraubard@hotmail.com and i'll give you my phone and we can do lunch or something.
The most spry member of this group is Perfetto. And hes 85 !!

UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "SOME NEWS ABOUT THE CLUB" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTHE NEW WEST BROOKLYN NEIGHBORHOOD CLUB'S EARLY MEMBERSHIP APPEARS TO HAVE TWO NEW ADDITIONS: BROOKLYNITES, CHRISTINE PARKER AND GARY TILZER
Yes, the club looks like it has gone to other parts of Brooklyn to find its founding members.
Christine and Gary showed an interest in the "West Brooklyn" club; and the "West Brooklyn" club immediately showed its interest in them.....
More to come, I'm sure.
It seems this club is on the move and has some very nervous!!
ReplyDeleteThe main purpose of a political club is to recruit candidates, qualify them for the ballot, raise sufficient funds to campaign, and run those campaign, for the purpose of electing those candidates to office.
ReplyDeleteThe secondary purpose of a political club is to recruit volunteers and train them to work on and run political campaigns.
This new club isn't talking about any of those things. So far.
Maybe some people are tired of the same old retreads running the Golden show over and over.
ReplyDeleteLast time Marty had a race it was Andy Gournardes counting on pols who already made a deal with Marty to sit it out. Then Andy gets a paycheck from the BP. Nothing has changed. Millions are being spent on state senate races around New York and Andy is still talking about money coming in from Cuomo.
The three biggest lies are:
ReplyDelete1- the check is in the mail
2- you cant smell the dump from my place in staten island
3- I wont . . . .
I hear the Upper East Side psychos are crazier than ever Th at Capano is still getting all this positive press

If Max Rose scores the upset it will be no wonder with people like this on Donovan’s staff.
ReplyDeleteDonovan knows. That's Donovan said no when Saperstein asked to attend and help raise money for a fundraiser.....poor sap

IN THE WORDS OF IRA GERSHWIN DONE SO WELL BY A YOUNG >>> "SAMMY... JR." <<< PLAYING "SPORTIN' LIFE" IN THE SAM GOLDWYN SCREEN VERSION FOR COLUMBIA --- "IT AIN'T NECESSARILY SO".....
As a comment maker, you are so pompous and pedantic it almost defies my fine powers of description to put any kind of jazzy gloss or patina on your remarks --- we'd all be better off if I tried to put lipstick on a pig.
Just listen to yourself; and see if you can keep from "...spew[ing] yer sconner..." like the rest of us:
"The main purpose of a political club is to recruit candidates, qualify them for the ballot, raise sufficient funds to campaign, and run those campaign, for the purpose of electing those candidates to office.... The secondary purpose of a political club is to recruit volunteers and train them to work on and run political campaigns...."
Did you conjure that yourself ? Did somebody tell you that ??? Or, did you just look it up in your Funk & Wagnall's ?????
Your "opinion" on the matter is definitely a "medium" --- it certainly is neither "rare" nor "well-done"..... However, I do agree on your ultimate statement, which does appear to be your concluding "opinion": "This new club isn't talking about any of those things[, so far]."
However, if a majority of this new club were ever to decide to do anything like what is contained in your bumptious and presumptive "whereas" or premising remarks, then it has Gary Tilzer to take care of those political "nuts and bolts" >>> all by himself <<< because he's done that kind of stuff very well many times already.
"I'm preachin' dis sermon [to your kinda vermin] to show
It ain't nessa, ain't nessa,
Ain't nessa, ain't nessa -
It ain't necessarily so!"
Hmmmmm!

Isn't that straight out of Marty Golden's playbook?
so Tilzer is the Lukea Brazzi
ReplyDeleteOne or two days ago, didn't another Dem lawyer-consultant, Howard Graubard, say he was looking for GOP State Committee candidates for next year?

ReplyDeleteALRIGHT, IT'S AN OPP ED BY COMMENTATOR HARRY SIEGEL, BUT IT GOES OVER SOME OF THE STRANGE DETAILS OF OUR STATE SENATOR'S OWN DESCRIPTION OF THE "ACCIDENT" --- THE RESULT OF WHICH AN ELDERLY WOMAN DIED WITHOUT EVER RETURNING HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL FROM HER INJURIES..... HE ALSO NOTED MARTY'S HAUGHTINESS BEING QUESTIONED ABOUT ACCIDENT AT ALL..... LASTLY, SIEGEL MENTIONED MARTY'S OWN "ACCIDENT" THAT RESULTED IN A LIFELONG TAX FREE PAYCHECK.....
The drip, drip, drip of bad sounding stuff like this is not helping Marty with re-establishing his usual bedrock of support.
Not good, not good at all.....
SD WOMAN DIED
Siegels quotes Marty complaining the old lady broke his rear windshield. How did that happen?
ReplyDeleteSounds like she was chasing marty.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense.
ReplyDeleteTilzer is worth it for the typos alone.
ReplyDeleteMarty Golden is in serious trouble. They didn’t expect Gounardes to have this kind of ground game. And they have no coherent message. They are making Gounardes case for him. The latest idiotic video from Gerritsen Beach means either State Committee introduces Marty to some qualified senior operatives tomorrow or they’ve given up on this seat.
ReplyDeleteA political club that eschwews candidate recruitment, volunteer training, and real campaigning to elect candidates?
ReplyDeleteWhy not just call it a Young Republican club?
RESPONSE: THE "SOME COMMENTERS HAVE SERIOUS LEARNING DEFICITS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 4:35 AM"
SINCE THIS NEW COMMUNITY POLITICAL AND CIVICS CLUB IS OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE POLIS, REGARDLESS OF PARTY AFFILIATION OR AGE, CALLING IT A "YOUNG REPUBLICAN CLUB" WOULD BE NOT ONLY FOOLISH AND FRAUDULENT, GIVEN THE LOW STANDING OF REPUBLICANS IN BROOKLYN LATELY, IT WOULD BE TERRIBLE PR
HOWEVER, ALTHOUGH NONE OF THE NEW WEST BROOKLYN NEIGHBORHOOD CLUB'S EARLY MEMBERSHIP HAVE SPECIFICALLY TOLD ME SO, I AM SURE THAT THE NEW GROUP, WHEN IT FINALLY STARTS CONDUCTING ITS BUSINESS, WILL NOT "[ESCHEW] CANDIDATE RECRUITMENT, VOLUNTEER TRAINING, AND REAL CAMPAIGNING TO ELECT CANDIDATES," IT WOULD MOST LIKELY ENCOURAGE ALL THAT, IN THE BROAD CONTEXT OF ITS NON-PARTISAN, COMMUNITY-MINDED AND CIVICALLY ORIENTED BRIEF (READ INTO THAT COMPLEX CLAUSE WHATEVER YOU WILL OR HOWEVER IT MIGHT SUIT YOUR WHIMSEY)
Your snarky attempt at witticism at the expense of "Young Republican Club[s]" might have hit the mark with "Young Republican" clubs (although I do know many who would argue the point), but I'm afraid it completely missed the mark when it comes to the NEW WEST BROOKLYN NEIGHBORHOOD CLUB.
That’s another thing that was different when Craig Eaton was Chair. Back then there were two dueling Young Republican clubs. Now there are literally 21 members in a borough of three million people. There is probably a larger Young Republican Club in San Francisco. Yesterday only one volunteer from the YR’s showed up to help Senator Golden. Ted Ghorra was not around either.
ReplyDeleteSo is the new club pronounced Wib-Nic? Web-Nac?
