Democrat Ross Barkan goes after fellow Dem Andrew Gounardes for being too close to Reform Party Chairman Bob Capano

Whoduh thunk it !!! ???

Bob Capano and his little Brooklyn Reform Party has become an issue in the Democrat Party primary for the state senate seat now held by Marty Golden

Barkan resorts to extreme left "political correctness" and "guilt by association" in his long-shot campaign against Gounardes  ---  raising the specter (and a Republican hope) of a hard-left Democrat running against Marty Golden

Now Capano has become city-wide news outside the Republican and Reform parties !!!

THEY SAY THAT  ---  "EVERY KNOCK IS A BOOST"  ---  but sometimes you do have to wonder.

According to a hit-piece on Andrew Gounardes by  Samar Kurshid in the "Gotham Gazette"  ---   "As the contested Democratic primary for a southern Brooklyn state Senate seat heats up with less than two months to go, reporter-turned-candidate Ross Barkan is calling out his opponent Andrew Gounardes for accepting the endorsement of the Reform Party and its local leader, Bob Capano, who has a history of anti-immigrant rhetoric.... "  (See "In Democratic Senate Primary, Barkan Criticizes Gounardes for Embracing 'Anti-Immigrant' Reform Party Leader" by Samar Kurshid,  7/24/18,  Gotham Gazette/ State  [http://www.gothamgazette.com/state/7821-in-democratic-senate-primary-barkan-criticizes-gounardes-for-embracing-anti-immigrant-reform-party-leader ]).

The article went on at great length to bash both Capano and Gounardes,  with may quotes from Ross Barkan and local "immigration advocates" and agitators like Fatima Elmansy,  who  has been with both Linda Sarsour and "The Reverend"  El Yateem.

No doubt, Ross Barkan has connections in the press world that was his milieu for several years.  Now, he appears to be cashing in on those connections with heavy rolling thunder articles like this one.

Barkan's attempts to run to the left of Andrew Gounardes have been by painting his opponent as too close to the conservatives, Trump-Republicans  ---  and now Capano's Reform Party  ---  in the upcoming Democrat Primary for the state senate seat held by Conservative-Republican Marty Golden.  This seems to be a bare-knuckled and radical strategy given the ethnic and political makeup of the district,  however it is a solid one that has roots in recent Democrat trends;  and it has worked in a lot of prior Democrat primary races, both recently and historically.

  1. Ross is handing out bars of soap with his campaign logo on them. Huge waste of money.

And worse -- they DON'T say anything like "Clean up Albany by electing ..."

This kid is as dumb as they come.

  2. That's small fry stuff.
Big picture, Ross Barkan just put down his marker with this no holds barred attack on ANDY BOY. Let's see if ANDY BOY has enough real big boy chops to handle what looks like a classic left-against-moderate Democratic Party Primary.
My first bet is right away ANDY BOY folds, and throws Capano and his Reform Party under the bus.

  3. Ross is a joke. His whole campaign is really about finding another job where he doesn't do anything. He's going to lose bigger than Max Rose's opponents. This is a district where half the democrats would be considered conservatives in park slope or the upper west side. Ross is in way over his head.

  6. There are a few pictures in the article from the Gotham Gazette referred to by Gail. What are you getting at?

  7. 8:23, obviously you didn't even look at the article being talked about, you just wanted to bash Brooklyn Reform Party Chairman Capano.

  8. Conservative and moderate dems still outnumber the lefties..Brannans win over El Yateen in the primary proves that.

What Andrew has going for him is the same thing Capano is being attacked for by Ross, can help Andrew get some Republican support in the general...Sliwa and Capano can rally some needed republicans to Andrew in the general after he kills Ross in the primary

  10. NEWS FLASH: THE "ROUND(S) OF APPLAUSE" EDITION

IN SOME KIND OF SOCIAL MEDIA THAT MENTIONED MP-3 AND GOOGLE, THE "QUEEN OF THE CLICK" JUST APPLAUDED ROSS BARKAN, ANDREW GOUNARDES FOR BEING "AMAZING" --- AND BOB CAPANO FOR >>> NOT ENDORSING <<< STATE SENATOR MARTIN GOLDEN ON THE REFORM PARTY LINE

The best part of the QOTC's message was a clip of Marty Golden exuberantly telling everybody at a Golden campaign rally that he >>> had the Reform Party endorsement <<< way back at the end of May (and how many times has the world turned since then; and how many planes has our "disabled" state senator jumped out of ???).

Also on that clip, SSMG did the best Georgie Jessel imitation ever, asking for round after round after round of applause for what seemed like everybody in the room.

  11. Maybe Golden should get rid of Quaglione and hire Capano as his press guy ..I can't believe how Capano always makes news

  14. Brilliant move by Barkan. Bob is such a loser and he drags down anyone close to him. Andrew will never be able to dig himself out from this scandal.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Barkan is a desperate loser. He was bragging that he would bring down Golden and guaranteed a victory in the Primary with his silly little story about Golden parachuting which actually won Golden more sympathy and forced Barkan to deny planting it. Dude nobody in this district gives a shit that Andrew is endorsed by a party that doesn’t agree with him 100% of every issue. Ross’s next move will be planting a breathtaking story in the Upper West Side Reporter that Andrew opposes abolishing the police department.

  16. 10:34, what "scandal" are you talking about? Blah, blah, blah, Bob Capano loser, blah blah, blah, dragging down Andrew, blah, blah, blah, never digging out from "this scandal."

Again, what "scandal"? I read the article in the Gotham Gazette; and there wasn't word one about any scandal.

  17. Ever notice anyone who lines up with Bob loses. And get real about Bobs self proclaimed impact and Donovan race. Same goes for Bobs idle President Trump. It didnt work in Bobs losing council primary and losing election.

  18. 11;49 should read The Joy of Hate. Its a book about people who get joy from being part of an angry mob.

Bob will be the demise of Golden.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well I have to say, one thing is for sure, people are still all over talking about Bob Capano.

Alot more than we can say about John Q or Liam!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Of course if Golden loses, the Capano haters will give him no credit .
    ahaha

  21. Lets see the results Bob. I mean the results in September and November. Also what exactly does Bob get by kissing Donovans ass?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Maybe the beauty of all this is Bob doesn't want or need anything unlike Q and others who just need jobs.
    Ahaha

  23. Donovan's team may be quiet and outwardly welcoming of people who supported Grimm, but wait until after the election. The fact that everyone in the Brooklyn Conservative party except Fran and Jerry supported Grimm will not go without consequences. All of Jerry's poodles supported Grimm and that hasn't gone unnoticed either. Jerry's puppet Ted supported Grimm on the down low and when he showed to Donovan's victory party it was all that Brendan could do not to laugh in front of him. Bob supported Donovan from the outset and they have mutual allies and adversaries. They work well together.

  26. Barkan is gaining momentum. The timing is perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  27. To 3:07 Ross, this sounds as sincere as your belief that you were going to outraise Andrew in the last filing. If you really believed that, then you're a moron and if you expect us to believe that you have any momentum that also makes you a moron. If you have nothing better to do than spread ridiculous rumors about your electoral prospects on a Republican blog than you are to be pitied not attacked and I apologize.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 11:49 AM"

OKAY, IT'S YOUR TURN INSIDE THE BARREL --- YOU CAN PICK: FRONTSIES OR BACKSIES --- SO EITHER PUCKER YOUR LIPS AGAINST THE INSIDE OF THE TAP HOLE OR SPREAD YOUR SWEET CHEEKS AND PRESS YOUR ASS AGAINST THE SAME OPENING.....

Your spelling sucks and so do you. "Bobs idle President Trump..." seriously ??? I mean "SERIOUSLY !!!" --- So, since you already suck way too much, forget about frontsies; it's gotta be backsies --- AND NO LUBRICANT FOR YOU.....

Plus, who writes your material, Herb Smith (extra points for whomever gets that reference)..... "Ever notice anyone who lines up with Bob loses..." really ??? I mean
"Really !!!" Nicole Malliotakis has been very close with Bob Capano for a very long time; so has Craig Eaton; and here's the kicker, John Catsimatidis, the man who invented the better political mousetrap, and to whose door Marty Golden has crawled saying, "Oh, forgive me, please, Please, PUHLEEEZ !!!!! Don't give Andrew any more money and encouragement than you have already...."

BTW, the clanking sound that you hear, which sounds like "Maxwell's Hammer"; it is my you know what hitting the edge of the barrel's spigot hole (yeah, it's pierced and has a pretty good-sized Frankenstein bolt diagonally through it) --- its next warm and comfy place is gonna be inside your grommet..... OOOOWHEEEEH !!!!!

[Cue the Flatt & Scruggs; somebody's about to have a "Foggy Mountain Breakdown"]

  33. Herb Smith here, and I specialize in political humor.

Try this on for size: "Two Democrats running for the same state senate seat are walking down the street ragging on each other. They both see a Ben Franklin lying face up on the sidewalk at the same moment. Quickly, each says to the other 'I saw it first.' They reach down to grab it looking almost like an incident reflected perfectly in a mirror; then, 'DOINK !!!'...."

Get it ??? It's a good joke because "DOINK !!!" is always funny.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes, and the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection, unless it's a funhouse mirror; and that's almost always funny too.

  35. Has anyone noticed the only talk going on is about Barkan? Has any article done anything except list his name being associated with trump supporters?

"HAS ANYONE NOTICED..." THIS COMMENT ABSOLUTELY FAILS TO SIGNIFY..... IT MAKES NO SENSE ---
IT HAS NO FACTS --- IT HAS NO SYNTAX --- AND IT IS COMPLETELY OUT OF FOCUS.....

What ? You were expecting the other barrel thing ??? Not a chance; I decided to let Herb Smith write all my material --- "DOINK !!!!!" --- It's more family friendly.....

BTW, EVEN WITH CURVED MIRRORS, LIKE FUNHOUSE MIRRORS, THE ANGLE OF INCIDENCE STILL EQUALS THE ANGLE OF REFLECTION --- THAT'S NOT WHY WHAT YOU SEE LOOKS "FUNNY" --- FOCUS ON "FOCUS".....

  40. Gail, do you only like Jersey boys? If so, don't forget Jimmy Roselli, the best singer ever to come out of Hoboken; and he was Mama Sinatra's favorite, because he sang like an Italian singer is supposed to sing and with a perfect Napolitan[o] dialect.

Too bad he was blackballed by Joe Columbo (not Frank Sinatra) for a perceived lack of respect. JR's career was put back on track with some help from Donald Trump, who used Roselli a lot in his AC casinos.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:31 AM"

I RESENT THE SUGGESTIVE IMPLICATIONS OF YOUR INITIAL QUESTION --- ALL OF THE PEOPLE MENTIONED IN MY PRIOR POST MOVED FROM BEING BOYS TO MEN MANY, MANY YEARS AGO.....

Yes, Jimmy Roselli had a tough but interesting life; sort of like a musical version of another Jersey boy, boxer James J. Braddock, the "Cinderella Man"; so, sure enough there's been talk about making a Jimmy Roselli movie. I just hope they don't entitle it "Thumbelina Man" or even worse, "Snow White Man."

  52. RESPONSE: THE "50 YEARS? SURELY IT'S NOT 50 YEARS !!!" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 2:50 PM"

THIS STATEMENT IS PATENTLY FALSE: "THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY HAS BEEN THE THIRD LARGEST PARTY IN NEW YORK FOR 50 YEARS" --- WHY WOULD YOU POST IT ?????

The Conservative Party first became the third largest party in New York State in 1966, almost fifty-four (54) years ago. However, although there have been many times during the last fifty years that the Conservative Party was the third largest party, it certainly was not for the whole fifty years. There was a long hiatus, during which the Independence Party had Row "C" --- indicative of its being the third largest party. That was from 1998 through 2010, a period of twelve (12) years [in fact, in 2006 the Conservatives almost slipped to being the fifth largest party in NYS, holding onto Row "D" by only 13,000 votes over the Working Families Party].

Why didn't you simply say, "The conservative party has been the third largest party in NY for most of the last 50 years." Easy-peasy, and unassailable.

    ReplyDelete
  53. The Conservative party runs Brooklyn. The Conservative party runs NYS from Brooklyn.

  54. 5:27, that is pure and absolute delusion; and that's why nobody need Marty Golden in the State Senate, except for Marty Golden and his paid staff.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 5;27 did not say anyone needed Golden. The point being made is the conservative party controls everything in politics the democrats dont. Its a two party system and Mike Long is the boss.

  57. RESPONSE: THE "WHY MIKE LONG IS WHAT HE IS" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 5:27 PM"; "... AT 7:08 PM"; "... AT 7:23 PM; and "... AT 10:37 PM"

ALL OF YOU HAVE AT LEAST A LITTLE BIT OF TRUTH IN WHAT YOU ARE SAYING ABOUT MIKE LONG AND THE CONSERVATIVES.....

In my years in politics, I've seen Mike and Serph exercise far more power than one would think a conservative-styled "third party" should be able to wield. However, though the NYS Conservative Party left the Liberal Party in the dust years ago, the Cons never achieved the Libs' ability to shape events in New York City or the Empire State.

What the Libs and Cons achieved came from the fact that New York State has had a faux two-party system for a very long time. Even when the GOP controlled the Governor's Mansion, and one or two legislative chambers, like they did under Rockefeller and Pataki, they governed very much like Democrats. During that time, the Libs never really pulled the Dems to the left and the Cons never really pulled the Republicans to the right. As a rule in New York, centrist liberal Democrats and centrist liberal Republicans succeeded, whereas right an left extremists fell by the wayside.

In the end, both the Conservative and Liberal Parties were the same thing, patronage mills, willing to "sell" their "support" or "non-support" and even their "going it alone".....

Whatever "power" Mike Long and the Conservative Party appears to have, is completely a derivative of the dysfunctional and phony "two party" system in New York. A real and functioning conservative-leaning Republican Party would immediately move to snuff-out Long, Kassar and the NYS Conservative Party post haste; but, just like the black-painted lead dingus in "The Maltese Falcon" --- "[That is] the stuff that dreams are made of."
