My closest BSI, Jim McCall, asked me a very important question

He says that his name has been recently mentioned by some obviously pro-Golden comment-makers on this blog  ---  and he thinks that is somewhat odd

It certainly seems odd that anybody in Marty Golden's camp would be chiding Jim for staying on the sidelines and only spending his time blogging

Maybe, some keen strategist in the Golden brain trust has figured out that Jim McCall would be an easy guy to take out in a GOP primary for State Senate in the 22nd District

Well, people should watch out what they wish for.....   If there were as much clamor from the anti-Golden folks out there as there as has been coming from the obviously pro-Golden folks,  there might be a possibility that Jim might entertain a run in the coming year.

And what Jim wanted me to tell him is this   ---   Is there sufficient support out there for an insurgent like Jim McCall to make a McCall-Golden primary fight worth while ?????

I hate when Jim McCall asks me questions and I don't know the answer.

  3. McCall defeated corrupt DA Hynes in a Republican primary. that was 1993 and insiders noticed Hynes could be beaten. 20 years later Hynes became the first DA to be defeated in NY in over 100 years.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT [THE FIRST] 7:22 PM"

I ASSUME THAT YOU MEANT "ANOTHER 20 YEAR CRUSADE".....

It's a funny thing about that "20 [year] crusade"..... John Kennedy O'Hara was Jim McCall's biggest contributor in 1993 in his Republican primary race against our friend, Mr. Hynes [McCall's recollection is that it was about a thousand ($1000).....

A few year's later, O'Hara was prosecuted for violating the NYS Election Law, with multiple counts for "illegal voting." After three trials (a first ever kind of thing, following a reversal on appeal, and then a mistrial for a hung jury), O'Hara was found guilty of several felonies, making him the only person besides Susan B. Anthony to be convicted for "illegal voting" in New York.

Cut to the end --- all charges against O'Hara have been dismissed, because of the prosecutor's multiple wrongful acts; and O'Hara is again a very successful plaintiff's personal injury attorney ("Better [than] Saul").....

[[[ BTW, O'Hara expects shortly to have a very big $$,$$$,$$$.00 settlement from the City and State, and personally from Hynes and few other active malefactors, inside Hynes' DA's Office and out.]]]

WELL, IT WAS ONLY A "MAYBE" FOR BUCKLEY'S

"... 'Tis the season..." Social get-togethers among friends at this time of year doesn't necessarily mean politics, even if two of the friends are known to be "political mechanics".....

Keep your eyes peeled at Buckleys. Lots of disabled cops on disability in that joint, and just why is it called Gerritsen Beach when there is no beach?

  24. What are you kidding me? Buckley's is 100% a cops bar. I knew a couple, both cops; when they broke up, they had to work out who could hang out in Buckley's.

  27. 1. Didn't McCall beat Hynes in a WRITE-IN Primary? Huzzahs and Kudos to him, 'cause that election used the old lever voting machines, where you had to press the secret silver button inside the voting machine, find the slot that lines up with the office in question, pull the tab to expose the paper ballot, and finally... write in your candidate's name.

    2. Wasn't Buckley's shuttered recently because of a failing health report? Perhaps another venue would be best.

REALLY, JIM HAS READ >>> ALL <<< THE COMMENTS THUS FAR --- AND, QUITE FRANKLY, HE ISN'T FEELIN' ALL THE LOVE HE HAD HOPED FOR.....

SO RATHER THAN MOPE AROUND AND GET SNARKY ABOUT IT --- LIKE SOME RECENT CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES --- JIM HAS GONE BACK TO ONE OF HIS FAVORITE STAND-BYES --- SHOW TUNES !!!!!

During college, Jim McCall once played "Freddy" on stage with a tall blonde named Roseanne who played "Eliza" so he knows these words by heart:
".... [By Eliza Doolittle to Freddy Eynsford-Hill] Words! Words! Words! I'm so sick of words!
    I get words all day through;
First from [them], [then] from you! Is that all you blighters can do?
    ....
Sing me no song! Read me no rhyme!
Don't waste my time, Show me!
Don't talk of June, Don't talk of fall!
Don't talk at all! Show me!
Never do I ever want to hear another word.
    There isn't one I haven't heard
    ....
Please don't "expl'ine," Show me! Show me!
Don't wait until wrinkles and lines
Pop out all over my brow,
    Show me now!"

  54. Saw Kassar at State Senator Marty Golden’s annual Holiday Cocktail Party. He looked a resplendent shade of gray. Why are Liam and Quaglione so afraid of him? Capano is the only one with a backbone around here. It's no wonder he's going places.

    ReplyDelete
  55. McCall is going to run one bare knuckled race against softy Golden. this isn't going to be lets make a deal that Marty has had with Brannen and Carroll.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Half of the people posing for pictures with Golden will vote for McCall. Golden can BS his way through an election but not a primary.

    ReplyDelete
  57. McCall was smart. He waited till the time was right. And Golden will never be sure if McCall will do it.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Marty is pulling down over 450k a year most of which goes to pay speeding tickets.

    ReplyDelete
  59. odd things happening with the State Senate. Laura Curran is backing McCall. Only reason for a democrat from nassau County to stick her nose in this is by Golden losing primary to McCall, dems know mccall is to conservative to win election. conservatives will jump off a cliff before theyd give mccall the line. So Golden stays on the line. This was how dems took seat in 1996. Republicans and conservatives split and Gentile won.

  61. Lets hear it for McCall 2018 !!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Marty needs to explain the details of the $750,000 settlement for the old lady he killed. Marty claims he did nothing wrong. So who paid the $750,000? No Insurance company pays that kind of money unless
    a) Marty did something very wrong
    b) It was a settlement from the city (Marty was a city councilman) from a slush fund.

    ReplyDelete
  63. McCall has been on to Marty for years.

  78. RESPONSE, UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED" EDITION

TO MANY OF THE COMMENTMAKERS ABOVE WHO APPARENTLY VOICED SOME LEVEL OF SUPPORT FOR A JIM MC CALL GOP RUN FOR THE STATE SENATE AGAINST NYSSMG

JIM TELLS ME THAT HE IS STILL NOT "... FEELING THE LOVE" FROM MANY OF THE IMPORTANT PEOPLE WHO CAN MAKE A PRIMARY RUN AGAINST A REPUBLICAN INCUMBENT STATE SENATOR A REALITY

Since Jim obviously likes a musical hook for what he is getting at, let me suggest this Lennon-McCarthy hit from way back in the "Summer of Love" for your consideration:

    "Love, love, love
    Love, love, love
    Love, love, love
There's nothing you can do that can't be done
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung
Nothing you can say, but you can learn how to play the game
    It's easy
Nothing you can make that can't be made
No one you can save that can't be saved
Nothing you can do, but you can learn how to be you in time
    It's easy
All you need is love, all you need is love
All you need is love, love, love is all you need
    All you need is love
All you need is love, love, love is all you need
There's nothing you can know that isn't known
Nothing you can see that isn't shown
There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be
    It's easy
All you need is love, all you need is love
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
... Love is all you need. Love is all you need.
Love is all you need. Love is all you need.
Love is all you need. Love is all you need....
    .... Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeaaaah!"

FYI, even though this Beatles song did make it into a movie or two, it is definitely not a "show tune".....

  79. will mccall hire q to get his coffee?

    ReplyDelete
  80. If Mccall likes his coffeee cold

    ReplyDelete
  81. Some politicians resign because they squeeze a womans ass. Marty runs over an old lady and kills her. He claims no fault but the old ladies family gets $750,000 and says he did nothing wrong. So why the $750,000? Then when caught on camera he is a menace. McCall will get answers. And Mccall will be a fine state senator who has pledged not to kill any old ladies.

    ReplyDelete
  82. RESPONSE: THE "NOT SO FAST" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 8:59 PM"

THAT PLEDGE IS BEING REFINED..... IT WILL BE DISCUSSED BY THE MC CALL ADVISERS OVER DINNER AT BUCKLEY'S

The long-experienced and very conservative potential candidate doesn't want to over-promise anything when it comes to those who YOU call "old ladies" --- some of them have histories going back to when they were young ladies; and even potential candidates have a right to defend themselves, and use deadly force, if appropriate.
