Worthy of Note: Bob Capano is barred from the Dyker Heights Civic Association Debate

A Statement from City Council Candidate Bob Capano on His Exclusion From The Dyker Heights Civic Association Debate:

"Although I have been invited to attend every other community City Council debate, including ones sponsored by the Bay Ridge Council on Aging, the Bay Ridge Community Council, the Arab-American Association of New York, and the Bay Ridge Center, I was not asked to participate in the Dyker Heights Civic Association forum.

This organization is run by the leaders of the Brooklyn Conservative Party and undoubtedly, they view any public attention that I get as potentially taking away votes from John Quaglione, who recently replaced Mr. Bruno on their ballot line. The Reform Party and I believe the people deserve more choices, not less. It is sad when a community organization puts party politics ahead of allowing their members to hear from all candidates on the ballot on election day."

  2. Quaglione is going to get shut out on election day.

  3. Nobody will be shut out on Election Day, but Justin will be the least shut out of everybody that's not shut out.

  4. Like I said Quaglione will get a shout out on election day.

  5. As in, "Yoahjon - berruhlukknestime!"?

  6. Bob should cede the field to Quaglione, who is more than capable of losing by a landslide all on his own. He doesn't need Capano's help.

  7. This is Robert C. and his supporters getting ready to do a big end zone dance after Brannan beats Quagleone soundly.

  8. For that Grimm-Donovan thing, has anybody heard from Guy Molinari, lately? He is usually such a noisy old bastard when he's really involved in something.

  9. UPDATE: THE “STRANGE WORLD INSIDE FRAN VELLA-MARONE’S HEAD” EDITION

…. AND THE EVEN STRANGER WORDS COMING OUT OF HER MOUTH

CAPANO AGAIN GETS STRONG MEDIA BUZZ AFTER THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY’S OBVIOUS VETO OF HIS APPEARANCE AT THE DYKER CIVIC DEBATE

One of the fastest growing keepers of the semi-official political record in Brooklyn [as well as Brooklyn's political score-keeper, referee and occasional purveyor of some juicy “Page Six” items], the “Kings County Politics” blog, put its coverage of Bob Capano and his complaints about the Conservative Party dominated Dyker Civic Association’s exclusion of him at their City Council debate ahead of KCP’s substantive reporting on the debate itself (See “Brannan, Quaglione Verbally Joust At Dyker Heights Civic Association” by Kadia Goba, 10/11/17, Kings County Politics/ 43rd District City Council Race [http://www.kingscountypolitics.com/brannan-quaglione-verbally-joust-dyker-heights-civic-association/]).

I especially loved KCP's inclusion of the completely disingenuous quote by Fran Vella-Morone, DHCA’s President, and Conservative Party Chairmen Mike Long and Jerry Kassar’s favorite sock puppet and Chia Pet. That magnificent quote was the cherry on top of the great Bob Capano coverage coming out of the Dyker Civic debate --- According to the Kadia Goba report in Kings County Politics, “…. Dyker Heights Civic Association President Fran Vella-Marone denied Capano’s accusations and told KCP she was not aware that Capano was still running on the Reform Party line. Vella-Marone said Capano’s resolute backing of the Republican candidate gave her no indication that he would continue to seek the council seat…. 'I know Bob. I would never do that to a candidate,' said Vella-Marone...."

WHY DID I WRITE THAT FRAN VELLA-MARONE IS DISINGENUOUS ????

Given in context, her quote is absolutely >>> MENDACIOUS <<<

But --- even more important than that --- Fran V-M no longer can carry off the role of Conservative Party Ingenue, even when standing next to old warhorses like Long and Kassar.

  10. O yeah right.

Fran V is the new "it" girl.

  11. Fran made herself look foolish. .capano, q and Brannan were on the cover page of the home reporter snd spectator this week at their debate with bay ridge aging council.

It looks like someone finally has the guts to expose the conservative party for the games they have been playing for years

  12. Is Fran the non-Afro woman with the Afro hairdo?

She looks like a cross-over character from "Orange is the New Black": part Afro, part Beaner, part bean-tickler, part Itlo and sort of mousy.

If she was younger, I'd think she was hot.

  13. FURTHER UPDATE: THE “CAPANO HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING” EDITION

HOME REPORTER/ SPECTATOR/ BROOKLYN REPORTER DOES A WHOLE ARTICLE ON CAPANO’S EXCLUSION FROM THE DYKER HEIGHTS CIVIC ASSOCIATION DEBATE

HELEN KLEIN LETS THE PRINCIPALS HAVE AT IT; AND SHE DOESN’T GET IN THE WAY OF THE STORY TELLING ITSELF

Helen Klein, the Brooklyn Reporter’s top political writer knows news when she sees it --- especially when half the article comes over the transom almost fully written as a press release from one of the principals in all of this, Bob Capano.

To be fair, Ms. Klein did identify one of her sources as the Capano press release. To be even fairer, the political reporter largely uses what look like whole quotes by the other principal involved in the fracas, Fran Vella-Marrone, the president of DHCA and the vice chair of the Kings County Conservative Party, for her side of the story (See “Reform Party candidate alleges exclusion from Dyker debate By Helen Klein, 10/11/17, Home Reporter/ Spectator/ Brooklyn Reporter/ hklein@brooklynreporter.com [http://brooklynreporter.com/story/reform-party-candidate-alleges-exclusion-from-dyker-debate/]).

No matter the merits of the argument between Capano and Vella-Marrone, Capano deserves kudos for getting more than his share of the limelight treatment from the press, even though he had been kept off the floor and out of the spotlight during the DHCA debate.

  14. Capano is top story in debate he participated in last week with Bay Ridge Council on Aging and now top story on debate he did NOT participate in...not bad...if Capano gets 15 percent of vote and more than Q on conservative line that will be huge and all this earned media makes it more and more possible. .plus I just looked at CFB reports and capano has $15,000 still on hand and is still collecting match able donations it looks like on facebook

  15. Earlier this week, one of the candidates for City Council in the 43rd Council District asked me if I knew what Bob Capano is up to with his campaigning.

It now seems pretty obvious that he is running as one of the three candidates trying to succeed Councilman Vinny Gentile.

  16. Fran looks like Bobby from Saturday Night Fever but I'm proud to see Madame Klein exposing the hypocrisy of the local Conservative Party because to be perfectly honest we are all aghast to see the charade of the "Dyker Heights Civic Association" has gone on this long. I do believe Fran Vella has been president for 87 of the 89 years since the organization was founded by Brigadier General Edward De Russy. Locals says Capano has already won because Madame Klein dedicated an entire seperate article to his being shut out of the debate. Quaglione can't get that kind of coverage unless Marty calls and threatens the editors.

  17. RESPONSE: THE "MOST BEAUTIFUL FORT OF ALL" EDITION

TO: ANONYMOUS SAID.... AT 7:50 pm

I WAS IN FORT DE RUSSY A FEW TIMES --- BUT AS A VISITOR NEVER AS A GUEST.....

I hope Brig. Gen. DeRussy didn't own black slaves, or that street by the Dyker Beach Golf Club might have to be renamed; OMG, Fort DeRussy, that U.S. Army-run playground for U.S. Senators and Congressmen on Waikiki Beach next to the Hawaiian Village Hotel complex, might have to be renamed as well.....

  18. Has anyone noticed a televised debate for Mayor?

    Nicole scored a real knockout.

  19. Bo Dietl is not a viable alternative. Hes stupid.

  20. Nick Chamberas is working overtime flaking for Nicole on social media. I hope there is a paycheck in his future because we know what happened to the last politician who didn't pay their delivery boys

  21. This is going to get very ugly for Bob. He couldn't break 15% in the primary and now he is playing spoiler when everyone knows he has no intention of living in Bay Ridge after he loses--again.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Bob has no thing to lose...hows it going to get ugly for him? ? So far it seems ugly for Kassar and the conservatives and will be for Q and Golden also when Brannan wins

    ReplyDelete
  23. All the people egging Bob on are already done in local GOP circles. Gallo works for the Mayor, Bernadello moved out of Brooklyn a long time ago. It is Bob Capano who won't be able to show his face in Bay Ridge after all this is done, regardless of what happens to John's candidacy.

    ReplyDelete
  24. But still they were here in 2017. And I suspect they're not completely done, yet. There might be another reel or polka left on their dance cards.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I hear Bob Capano is showing his face alot in Bay Ridge at 3 up coming debates, door to door , etc. 738pm????????

  26. The plot thickens. Was Kassar's name on Independence Party documents related to Quaglione's getting onto the Independence line?
