Was it an "April Fool's Day Edition" of the New York Post on September 16th ???

Is all of the Grimm talk lately,  including the article in yesterday's New York Post,  somebody's idea of a practical joke ???

In case you were so busy partying after John Quaglione's unlikely huge blowout of his GOP rivals on Primary Day,  some people are again talking about a Michael Grimm 2018 race against incumbent Republican Congressman Dan Donovan for the GOP nomination

According to yesterday's article in the NY Post  ---  "Disgraced Republican ex-Rep. Michael Grimm is set to announce a bid to win back his old Staten Island-Brooklyn seat next year, according to a report — a move opposed by state and local GOP officials....  Grimm was released from federal prison 16 months ago after serving seven months in the slammer on charges that he falsified tax returns for the Manhattan restaurant he ran before taking office....   He was convicted in 2014....  The Republican is looking to oust GOP Rep. Dan Donovan, Staten Island’s former district attorney, who won a special election after Grimm went to jail in 2015....   Grimm will announce his candidacy at an Oct. 1 rally in New Dorp, NY1 reported Saturday, citing anonymous sources...."  (See "Disgraced ex-congressman set to announce run for office' by Mary Kay Linge, 9/16/17,  NY Post/ Metro  [http://nypost.com/2017/09/16/disgraced-ex-congressman-set-to-announce-run-for-office/]).

"April FoolsDay" is celebrated every year on April 1 by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes;  and by the lights of the common definers of such things, the jokers and their victims are referred to as "April fools";   so, in which camp of fools are you counting yourself in this strange week in September 2017  ???

  1. The echo chamber that dominates the Republican Party these days thinks Grimm is a hero because the press and prosecutors went after him. No matter that he committed crimes and is a convicted felon. He was a target of liberals, so in the minds of echo chamber Republican, Grimm is good.

Somnambulant Dan Donovan will eventually eke out a modest victory.

What happens in November depends on whether Democrats run a Staten Island moderate or not.

  3. Michael Grimm, Guy Molinari and Jim Molinaro are tired old jokes that the SI GOP has to viciously kick to the side of the road along with any of their Brooklyn sidekicks.

  4. Guy Molinari is old and unwell, including in the head; Mike Grimm is not as old but much more unwell, especially in the head.

  5. The biggest part of this Michael Grimm nonsense is that Mike Long is playing it very cool. Look at what Long and Kassar actually said. Kassar says that he hasn't talked to Donovan yet, and Long says that Grimm hasn't spoken to him, but that Guy Molinari has.

"Let the bidding begin! Do I hear...?"

  8. I stand corrected.

Grimm has never lost an election or a primary.

How did Dan do in that race for AG?

  9. Not sure about that that AG race but, I don't recall "Dan" as 7:03 calls him doing any time.

  10. Whats the story with Grimms marriage? He was married for 4 weeks in 1994. I've spent longer than that with my accountant.

  11. 11:49 sounds like there are some tax issues on the home front.

  12. Don't you mean taxing issues on the home front?

  14. He goes with Christine Sisto; she used to be his "girlfriend," and since the Cyclone's game this summer, she's officially been his fiance.

  16. UPDATE: THE “NATIONAL ECHO CHAMBER” EDITION

NEWSMAX REPORTS ON THE GRIMM FOR CONGRESS CHATTER IN THE NY POST & NY1

--- BUT WHAT ABOUT THAT NEWSMAX HEADLINE, WHICH CALLS MICHAEL GRIMM’S NEWS ABOUT THROWING HIS HAT IN THE RING FOR CONGRESS >>> “ILL-ADVISED... SOURCES SAY” <<< !!!!! ????? .....

According to a very recent report in the national on-line Republican-oriented journal “Newsmax” --- “Republican ex-Rep. Michael Grimm reportedly will announce a bid to win back his old New York City district seat in Congress that he lost while going to prison for seven months on federal tax charges…. Citing anonymous sources, NY1 reported on Saturday that Grimm will announce his candidacy for his old Staten Island-Brooklyn seat at an Oct. 1 rally…. Grimm will be trying to oust GOP Rep. Dan Donovan, Staten Island’s former district attorney, who won a special election after Grimm went to prison in 2015, The New York Post reported, saying the move is opposed by state and local GOP officials. The Post cited the NY1 report….” (See “Grimm Making Ill-Advised Run for Old GOP Seat, Sources Say” 9/17/17, Newsmax/ Home/ The Wire [https://www.newsmax.com/TheWire/grimm-run-old-gop/2017/09/17/id/814037/]).

Although the Newsmax piece didn’t indicate that it was anything but a newswire pickup, with no new or independent reporting by Newsmax staff, the article’s headline >>> “Grimm Making Ill-Advised Run for Old GOP Seat, Sources Say” <<< is a hint that SOMEBODY DID SAY SOMETHING NEW TO NEWSMAX since neither the NY Post nor the NY1 reports said that any "sources" said Grimm's move was "ill-advised".....
