Is Bob Capano going "... to be or not to be... nobler... to take arms against... "

Perhaps some have counselled Bobby C, using the well-said words of Dylan Thomas,  "Do Not go gentle into that Good Night"  ---  but instead  ---  "... rage against the dying of the light..."

Many people think that his great Primary Day victory was like a "New Day" for John Quaglione  ---  and you can't count me among those folks.

But  ---  there is a flip side to that, and it is this:  John Quaglione's great Primary Day victory is just as much a "New Day" for John's Primary Day opponents,  Lucretia Regina-Potter,  Liam McCabe, and of course Bob Capano, whom I mentioned above in my headlines.  However,  perhaps, any talk of a "New Day" is premature,  because somebody thinks that the "dying of the light" of the day gone by needs to be played out in a different manner and to the beat of a different drum.

MAYBE, HERE'S THE DEAL ABOUT CAPANO'S TAKE ON A "NEW DAY"  IN THE 2017 RACE FOR NY CITY COUNCIL

I seem to remember that Bob had put it out there during his campaign in the GOP Primary >>>  he was the ONLY Republican candidate running in the 43rd City Council District already on a party ballot line in November.  Now, I don't know if that was 100% accurate at the time;  however,  it is a fact that BOBBY C IS STILL ON THE BALLOT IN NOVEMBER, as the candidate of the Reform Party.

Early this AM,  somebody wadded-up a spitball message to me indicating that Bobby C might be planning on doing some kind of campaigning as the Reform Party's candidate in the 43rd District. Well,  as sure as night comes before day,  maybe JQ's "New Day" hasn't quite started yet  ---  because at least for somebody in the mix, there is still some raging to be done.....

And here's what I say to that  (now folks, please note, this is NOT a show tune):

“Do not go gentle into that good night,
[All ages] should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
o not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my [brother], there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with [burning] fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

  1. Dylan Thomas? Dylan Thomas! Gailzo, you have got to be kidding, this is Brooklyn not Brooklyn College.

  2. The reform Party is the only alternative to diBlasio. The GOP is DOA in November.

  3. There was a reform party primary between Nicole and Albanese.

    Nicole lost. Albanese won.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 8:34 PM"

THANK YOU FOR SAYING MY WORDS WERE INSPIRATIONAL --- ACTUALLY, IN MY POST ABOVE I DID ATTRIBUTE THOSE INSPIRING WORDS TO DYLAN THOMAS --- BUT THANKS FOR THE THOUGHT

ON THE OTHER HAND, I'LL TELL YOU WHAT IS NOT INSPIRATIONAL IN THE LEAST IS ALL THE BULLSHIT THAT HIT THE FAN AND EVERYTHING ELSE AT THE BROOKLYN GOP'S SO-CALLED "ROAD TO VICTORY CELEBRATION" HELD AT THE DYKER BEACH GOLF CLUB CATERING HALL

    >>> AND BTW, HOLDING BROOKLYN GOP EVENTS AT A GOLF COURSE IS JUST TOO "COUNTRY-CLUB REPUBLICAN" FOR BROOKLYN FOLKS AND MOST OF THE REST OF NEW YORK CITY'S VOTERS

According to the one report that I saw, almost all of the elected Republican officials and GOP leaders, who were gathered at the local golf course last Thursday by Ted Ghorra, were guilty of serial lying. --- But, their biggest lie was in their absolute silence about the the fact that the Republican Party >>> locally, city-wide and state-wide <<< has never been at this low ebb for as long a period in its entire history since Lincoln.

What's more, this Ghorra guy just doesn't seem to get it at all; his golf course events are just too removed from the lives of most Brooklynites, and they play right into the bad optics of County-Club Republicanism held by lots of working class voters here in Brooklyn --- even at the Bay Ridge-Shore Road-Dyker Heights end.

I never thought that I'd ever say this, but it might be a better idea to hold future GOP stuff at the Golden Family Trust property, because it has more of a plebeian quality to it; and many, many more folks can personally relate to the Bay Ridge Manor than to the Dyker Beach Golf Club.

  7. Marty will throw Q under the bus in exchange for Justin keeping the deal where the dems dont put up a candidate against Golden next year. Everyone will know it except Q.

IF JQ ISN'T IN ON ANY SUCH DEAL, HE'S AN EVEN BIGGER CEMENT-HEAD THAN PEOPLE HAVE SEEN SO FAR

The really sad thing about all of this, is that whether JQ is in on this, or not, he has a family; and I doubt that THEY are "in" on any deals between Marty and the Dems involving JQ's 2017 candidacy.....

Do you think that Ted Ghorra is "in" on ANY of this ??? I DOUBT IT, BUT HE MIGHT WANT TO BE, who knows ???

  14. When is Mike Long going to come out of the closet on this Dan Donovan stuff? Long is pulling the plug on Donovan and endorsing McMahon. Everyone knows it but nobody talks about it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. If you get into your not so far back machine, you would see that Mike Long backed Grimm against McMahon. I don't think very much has changed from that time, not so far back.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 2:40 PM"

    SEE, YOU CAN'T HELP YOURSELF

According to the folks at Wikipedia, "It was first performed in 1920 in the revue "Satires" of 1920, then moved into vaudeville and recordings...." The same entry explains that the song, "Ain't We Got Fun," also contains variations on the phrase "... the rich get richer and the poor get poorer..." by substituting, the words, "children" or "pregnant" for "poorer"; though the former phrase "... the rich get rich and the poor get children..." predated the song, the latter wording using the term "pregnant" was decades later, those versions increased the song's appeal with more modern performers and audiences.

References to the song, and the catch phrases in it, have been often contained in various pieces of 20th Century literature, and in Depression and Post-Depression era movies.

  23. Gail-man, I don't know whether you are being pedantic, didactic or something else entirely.

I do know that you've been cranky ever since your place with show tunes on the jukebox changed hands and jukeboxes.

  24. Gale you are living in the stone ages. Jukeboxes went the way of the ice box. You need to catch an episode of the Mod Squad.

  28. I heard from two reliable sources that Ghorra and Doherty have been spreading the word among the GOP that they really wanted Liam to win and that Q has no, I think the words were, ABSOLUTELY no chance of beating Justin....and they are just pretending to support him.

  29. Someone told me Eric Ulrich hired Liam to run his campaign out in the Rockaways. Maybe Liam can run for council out there in 4 years?
