Liam McCabe leads the pack filing a very strong number of signatures at or near Two Thousand (2000)*;
A little off the pace was the early 2017 favorite Bob Capano, with about Thirteen Hundred (1300)* signatures;
In the running as the biggest surprise at this stage of campaigning for the City Council in the 43rd District is Lucretia Regina-Potter, whose Nine Hundred to a Thousand signatures (900-1000)* showed tremendous strength inside the hallmark districts of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Club, the 46th A.D. and the 49th A.D., which form the core of the 43rd Council District; and
Definitely, taking the cake as the biggest surprise among the various campaigns' efforts to garner signatures was the Quaglione Campaign, which came in last among the GOP Councilmatic signature gathering operations, with a paltry Eight Hundred Fifty (850)* signatures.....
It is fair to describe and analyze all of this as follows:
Liam McCabe and his campaign over-performed again; this is about the sixth or seventh very well done activity by a campaign that was at the beginning made up from scratch;
In a race where one has to be "... in it to WIN IT..." it sure looks like Lucretia Regina-Potter --- is on the ballot all the way through until the GOP September primary;
Bob Capano did what he needed to do by filing a nominating petition that has enough heft that he almost tripled the signature requirement required under the Election Law; however
When it comes to a colossal underperformance in the very significant campaign metric --- signature gathering --- John Quaglione's team showed that they are all smoke and mirrors. What happened to all of the much-heralded Marty Golden signature gatherers ???
________________________
All of the above numbers are approximations of what the four (4) GOP candidates filed as their petitions with the New York City Board of Elections --- the source of those "approximations" is a very senior GOP operative that said they conversed with analysts who did real counts..... The report was as to >>> quantity <<< only. There was specifically NOT ANY OPINION as to the >>> quality <<< of most of the signatures, either as submitted or as analyzed.
So the race has changed. Now Quag is the third candidate.
ReplyDeleteOn the Democrat side El Yateem filed more signatures than Brannen.
ReplyDeleteSo, it now looks like a fourway race in the GOP primary, right?
ReplyDeleteA Republican fourway, now that's kinkeeeee!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see Liams mailer that hit today that will cause him big fines from cfb and negative press for breaking finance laws?? The name of his committee is friends of Liam..
ReplyDeleteHis mailer says "Paid for by Liam McCabe"..i think the fine is $100 per piece that was mailed ..i hear a complaint has already been filed..
Holy canoli !!
ReplyDeleteA complaint has been filed and Liam will soon be impeached.
Actually, CFB rules state that if the name of the campaign committee does not contain the first and last name of the candidate, the disclaimer should read Paid for by First & Last Name of Candidate.
ReplyDelete425 am below is right from campaign finance handbook. Looks like liam committed big violation. Nothing about the BS above about first, last name nonsense.
ReplyDeleteIf Obrien did this mailer looks like he got his revenge on Liam for hiring other "consultants" ..he had to include this disclaimer and know was wrong. .kudos.
“Paid For By” Requirement--
All campaign literature, advertisements, or other
communications must include the words “paid for by” followed
by the name of your authorized committee (For example, “Paid
for by Sophia for Council”). If your campaign authorizes any
individual or entity other than your campaign to pay for any
of these things (including communications in support of or
opposition to any other candidate), the communication must
include the words “authorized by” followed by the name of
your authorized committee and this must be reported as an in-
kind contribution to your campaign.
New York City Campaign Finance Board
ReplyDeletehttp://cfb.org/law/rules/rule-2-13-identification-communications/
Rule 2-13 Identification of Communications.
(a) When a candidate makes expenditures for any literature, advertisement, or other communication, the communication must include the words “paid for by” followed by the first and last name of the candidate or the name of the candidate’s authorized committee,
or, if the candidate has more than one authorized committee, the candidate’s principal committee; provided that, if the name of the committee does not include the first and/or last name of the candidate, then the words “paid for by” must be followed by the first and last name of the candidate, either instead of or in addition to the name of the committee.
This shows the need for an experienced candidate, staff and resources who wont make mistakes like this.
ReplyDeleteOnly John Q has these!!
RESPONSE: THE "GRASPING AT STRAWS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 8:16 AM & OTHERS"
BUT --- THESE "STRAWS" ARE ALL THAT JOHN Q. REPUBLICAN HAS GOING FOR HIM RIGHT NOW
John Quaglione is a desperate candidate right now. He is more likely to come in LAST in a four way primary contest than he is to come in FIRST; and that's a big problem. In fact, he might be the first candidate to be marginalized in this race.
Golden & Co., Inc., and we do know who they are, can't abide a win by Bob Capano --- period, but they can pretty much live with Liam McCabe..... Those folks are more likely to shift away from Quags sooner rather than later. I've already heard some buzz.....
Stay tuned; I think this will get very interesting very fast.
Judging by the quality (not to mention the paltry quantity) of the signatures Quaglione filed ... he's not an experienced candidate, and his staff and their resources leave much to be desired.
ReplyDeleteWhile Q sits at his computer looking for campaign violations and checking weather dot com to see when it will get cooler GOP voters are answering the door to see big handsome Liam.
ReplyDeleteTell Q the weather will be better after September 12th.
12:27 Sounds like a Liberace fan
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, Liberace did play the piano very well, and it wasn't just show tunes.
ReplyDeleteOnce prime republicans who are the law and order type, learn of Liams arrests and see the news headlines, it wont matter how handsome he may or may not be..these voters will go with the only adult in the room and the one with the highest name ID from his race just 4 years ago!!
ReplyDeleteoh boy
ReplyDeleteOnce prime republicans who are pro-life types hear about Quaglione using his political contacts to prevent his cousin from being prosecuted for the dead baby girl she tossed in the trash, these voters will go with the adult in the race, Liam McCabe.
ReplyDelete305pm good luck with that. Lol
ReplyDeleteoh boy
ReplyDeleteBACKFILL: THE "INDEX OF NON-SUPPORT" EDITION
ReplyDeleteJOHN QUAGLIONE AND HIS CAMPAIGN FOR CITY COUNCIL HAS MADE HIS NON-SUPPORT BY REPUBLICANS A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD WITH THE PETITION FILED WITH THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS
ALL OF QUAG'S OPPONENTS CAN ARGUE THAT HE HAS NEXT TO NO SUPPORT BY ANY REPUBLICAN VOTERS
Not only did the election petition filed by John Quaglione contain a dearth of legitimate Republican signatures [yes, people ARE checking very closely on that], they were largely gathered by only a handful of signatory witnesses. Technically, what was submitted on behalf of John Q. Republican is a very weak >>> REPUBLICAN <<< petition, indeed.
More important than that, should JQ remain on the GOP primary ballot, an issue that is right out there, front and center, is this: JOHN QUAGLIONE AND HIS ENTIRE PETITIONING CAMPAIGN MANIFESTS A VERY LOW LEVEL OF SUPPORT AMONG REPUBLICANS; and that argument can be broadened and built upon by all three of his opponents.
A close look at JQ's signature gatherers reveals a core composed of Marty Golden staff skells, from hither and yon.
Like I said above, if Johnny Cakes stays on the ballot, a lot will be made about his half-baked, half-hearted petitioning effort and what it graphically demonstrated about his real GOP support inside the Council District and inside that part of the Brooklyn GOP inside the Council District where he has lived his whole life.
John Q is a much stronger candidate than mcCabe and Capano combined and that will be shown on Sept. 12th
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be funny if Lucretia's challenge ends up invalidating Q's pathetic petition?
ReplyDeleteGale
ReplyDeleteTell the truth about capano
Little petitions support
No professional campaign people
No money for mailings
No organization
Q will triple his vote total
I hear Qs valid petiton signatures are down to 502
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, dont forget the Capano kiss of death--- Eaton is supporting him !!
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "GLIMMER OF TRUTH" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO THE (FIVE) COMMENTER(S) ABOVE THIS ONE
THE CHOP BLOCKS BEING DELIVERED AT BOB CAPANO AND HIS CAMPAIGN ARE INDICATIVE OF A VERY INSECURE BUNCH OF FOLKS IN THE QUAGLIONE CAMP (BTW, HAVE THEY COUNTED NOSES LATELY --- I HEAR THAT THEY ARE DISAPPEARING FASTER THAN IN AGATHA CHRISTIE'S "AND THEN THERE WERE NONE" A/K/A "TEN LITTLE...." [A VERY UN-PC TITLE])
"ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:30 AM" ALMOST HIT THE PROVERBIAL NAIL ON ITS HEAD
When push comes to shove, Lucretia Regina-Potter is likely to have the final say as to whether Johnny Q. gets to run in 2017 or not.
Quaglione's number of signatures is low and my sources have told me that their quality is not the best. Based on only one (1) other petition there are already several "SAPs" that the "Q"ster will be losing.
It looks like a very, very close thing whether "Q" gets on the GOP Primary ballot, even under the best of circumstances.
I received a very interesting mailer that spoke about Liam taking an oath as a staffer?
ReplyDeleteI did not know that part-time per-diem probational congressional staffers took "oaths" when they accepted their jobs! Meanwhile, the formidable John Quaglione is tan, rested and ready to win this race!
All Congressional staffers must take an oath. Don't you guys know anything about politics, other than what you post online?
ReplyDeleteAnd formidable is a term only used to describe Mr. Quaglione's powers of sleep.
I hear one of Lucretia's people found something verrrrrry interesting in Quaglione's petition.
ReplyDeleteQ is king .all will find out soon
ReplyDeleteQ does not stand for King.
ReplyDeleteGet it?
Putting his staffer John Quaglione out front as his candidate for City Council in the heart of his district was a huge blunder for State Senator Marty Golden.
ReplyDeleteWho advised him on this risky political gambit?
It was a terrible "risk-reward" decision; and it shows that Marty has very poor political instincts of his own.
Thanks to the Quaglione petitioning effort, now everybody knows that the Golden-Ghorra side is very thinly stretched.
Plus, how many County Committee did they file signatures for?
The only oath he ever took was at AA
ReplyDeleteI heard Quaglione got 100 county committee signatures and 750 bullet signatures, essentially stiffing the district leaders. Not a smart move.
ReplyDeleteQ was not part of any deal as much as McCabe tries to pretend he was to try and make a name for himself...
ReplyDeleteQ was not part of any deal, except that he's The Senator's endorsed candidate, and the County Organization tossed out all the debate ground rules when Q's team arrived unprepared, without posters, flyers or buttons.
ReplyDeleteRules are made for little people, not Q.
with Lucretia in the race staten island bob coming in third wont look so bad
ReplyDeletePoll shows Quaglione wins third place
