HERE'S THE LATEST FROM BLOOMBERG NEWS: "President Donald Trump reorganized his National Security Council on Wednesday, removing his chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, and downgrading the role of his Homeland Security Adviser, Tom Bossert, according to a person familiar with the decision and a regulatory filing...."
The Bloomberg report goes on to say this: ".... National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster was given responsibility for setting the agenda for meetings of the NSC or the Homeland Security Council, and was authorized to delegate that authority to Bossert, at his discretion, according to the filing.... Under the move, the national intelligence director, Dan Coats, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine Corps General Joseph Dunford, are again "regular attendees" of the NSC’s principals committee.... Bannon, the former executive chairman of Breitbart News, was elevated to the National Security Council’s principals committee at the beginning of Trump’s presidency. The move drew criticism from some members of Congress and Washington’s foreign policy establishment.... A White House official said that Bannon was placed on the committee in part to monitor Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, and never attended a meeting. He’s no longer needed with McMaster in charge of the council, the official said...." NOTE: THE PRIOR DRUDGE REPORT HEADLINE THAT LINKED TO THE BLOOMBERG ARTICLE WAS MUCH MORE PROVOCATIVE
According to an earlier Drudge headline --- "BANNON LOSES POWER: STRIPPED OF SECURITY CLEARANCE" [also later this AM the Drudge link shifted to an MSNBC article and away from it's earlier link to Bloomberg] --- Now, the Drudge headline reads, "BANNON LOSES POWER IN WHITE HOUSE SHAKEUP"There is much more here than meets the eye..... Be vigilant and watch the sky ! ! ! It might be falling.....
this is a big nothingburger.

THIS BANNON THING CAN BE >>> ANYTHING <<< EXCEPT NOTHING
I THINK THAT TRUMP DIDN'T BELIEVE THAT BANNON COULD BE HIS "WARTIME CONSIGLIERE"
Part of the WH explanation for the Bannon "step down" was that he had completed "de-operationalizing" the NSC after it had been "operationalized" by guess who............ SUSAN RICE..... So, 9:44 AM, you DO get partial credit.....
The "WHY" behind the Steve Bannon DEMOTION is the bigger story behind this big story.
I think that President Trump really thinks he needs a "wartime consigliere" in these perilous times..... And to be clear, "wartime" might really mean >>> WARTIME <<<
Today, Trump ranked on Obama and his "red line"; then Trump said that in Syria many lines were crossed this week including a "red line." Then, after saying he wouldn't tip his hand militarily, Trump ominously said that the Syrian regime and its supporters would find out what he was going to do soon enough.
I wouldn't entrust Bannon with lit drops or poster deployment.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, how did a mutt like Bannon get within 5 miles of the NSC?

"... A MUTT LIKE BANNON..." --- YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS !!! --- WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH YOUR LIFE (that is even arguably one-tenth what Steve Bannon has accomplished) ???
Steve Bannon grew up in a working class Irish Catholic Democrat home. He earned a BA from Virginia Tech, and advanced degrees from Georgetown and Harvard. He was a naval officer for seven years, and after one tour at sea aboard a destroyer, he became a Pentagon aide to the top naval flag officers. He worked as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs and left after attaining a position as VP in Mergers and Acquisitions, thereafter he held many executive positions in cinematic production, producing eighteen movies, as well as documentaries and other material for TV and cable; he entered a firm that specialized in computer gaming and other computer products, where he was both an executive and very successful entrepreneur; and political on-line publishing, where as an executive he helped kick-off Breitbart News, taking over after Andrew Breitbart's death.
All of that was before Bannon left Breitbart, to be a key person on the political and campaign team that elected Donald Trump President of the United States. He was a part of the transition team, and he was put on the White House staff as a "Senior Adviser" with a very controversial position on the National Security Council.
His background and training were not inappropriate for the NSC assignment. In addition to his position as a high level aide at the Pentagon, Steve Bannon holds a master's degree in national security studies from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
Politically, he is an extreme traditionalist nationalist, with a strong pro-American bias. He probably is a very strong advocate of a major global realignment with the goal of ending the vestiges of Twentieth Century contest with the USSR and replacing that hostile relationship with a lasting strategic special relationship with an emergent neo-nationalistic Russia.
Gail, are you saying that Steve Bannon is another pro-Russian contact high up inside the Trump White House? Since Bannon was so intrinsic to the Trump campaign, why hasn't the mainstream media made a big deal of his pro-Russia attitude.

HAVE YOU COME TO BURY BANNON OR TO PRAISE HIM ? ? ?
I had no intention of getting into Steve Bannon's possible embrace of Vladdy P. or anything else that is indicative of any possible Russian connections or interactions.
