What’s up with the GOP Candidates in the 43rd Council District….

As far as we can tell  ---  they’re all pretty much resting and waiting for nicer weather

Bob Capano seems to have continued his >>> “strategy”  <<< of staying a bit behind the other two GOP contenders,  but using low cost methods of keeping his name in front of the public  ---  mostly by way of his repeated press releases,  which still seem to be succeeding  in getting him "earned media.".   Liam McCabe  (yes,  he bought me breakfast, so I figured I’d stop with the “Will/Liam” stuff  --  but it wasn’t a quid pro quo, or anything like that…..)  is doing some of the old fashioned retail campaigning things between Uber calls:  you know,  going around on foot, meeting shop keepers, political bloggers like me and many of the plain folks;  oh,  did I mention the posters !   And then there is JQ,  who, except for his very good fundraising  so far, seems to think that doing his day-job for Marty Golden and continuing his prior civic activities is sufficient “campaigning” at this stage of the contest  (but wasn’t that exactly what he did until the very sad end in 2013?).

I could make this a longer article by giving a few recent details and examples,  but that minutia wouldn't  be very informative nor would it add to the big picture in any way.....  Also, I've already lost interest in this post.....

  1. McCabe walks the avenues during the day putting his posters in store windows and knocks on the doors of voters in the evening. He does more campaigning in one day then the other two do in a month.

  3. Who is advising McCabe????
    Poste4s dont vote.

  4. Liam is talking about the issues that matter to residents while Bob is still chasing Linda Sarsour...

  5. 12:56 has it right.

Its crazy to put posters of yourself in store windows when you could be stuffing your face with lasagna in your uncles basement in staten island like bob.

  6. Marty Golden endorsing Q next week.
Race OVER..O'Brien will be embarassed again.

  7. I think the strategy for a Republican victory is to keep running the same losers every year.

  8. Maybe Capano is running for some other office. Didn't some State Senator get indicted the other day?

  9. Hey 4:32 pm:

    You misspelled the word embarrassed.

  10. At this point it looks like Liam is going to run away with the nomination.

  11. So far it looks like Liam is going to run away with the election

  12. Quaglione got 35% last time.

    Why is he in this?

  13. I'm confused.
    Who is the biggest loser?
Q or the guy from staten island?

  14. As we saw in tbis weeks column, Julianne Cubabis all over the split in Martyland as was told this was coming last week..wait to the next one exposing the "deals"

  15. Whenever i speak to voters the issue on everyones mind is Independent Theater. We need the government to start funding puppet shows. Puppet shows are a great way for men to volunteer to mentor young boys

  16. capano has a solid message that will go over big with his neighbors in staten island

  17. RESPONSE & BACKFILL: THE "CRACKING THE WHIP" EDITION

    TO WHOM IT MIGHT CONCERN.....

AT LEAST ONE OF THE COMMENTERS ABOVE >>> WAS <<< ONE OF MY VERY RELIABLE "BAKER STREET IRREGULARS" --- AT LEAST, THAT WAS UNTIL HE BECAME OBSESSED WITH HIS "SORE BACK" --- SINCE THEN HE WENT OFF TO HIS CABIN IN THE WOODS AND DECIDED THAT THE M & M CURE WOULD DO HIM THE MOST GOOD AT THIS STAGE OF HIS LIFE

I am a little upset, that my old apartment mate has been dropping the ball so much lately. He just gave me a "HEADS-UP" on Stephen Witt's "NOTES FROM THE CAMPAIGN DESK"; that column was dated, 3/21/17 [yes, the one from five days ago]; then, to add insult to injury, he did a couple of the comments above that were obviously from Mr. Witt's almost week-old material.....

At first, I was really burned off, but then I saw that most of the stuff in Witt's "NOTES FROM THE CAMPAIGN DESK" about the Republican Candidates were dealt with on this blog in a competitive and timely manner..... It was a little less so vis a vis the material about Democrat Justin Brannan, but this blog did report on his pretty good numbers in the most recent NYCCFB filing.

As for my good old friend in the cabin in the woods, he needs to stop dwelling on his aches and pains, ease up on the meth and masterbation, and get back to working on the home-made bombs with his "signature" custom made hardware; and more important than his "Unabomber" hobby, get me the important links about the 43rd Council District race ASAP, and not almost a week late.

  18. M & M for a sore back.

That sounds like a good idea

  19. As long as they don't serve M & M to patrons of the Independent Theater.

  20. RESPONSE: THE "QUICKIE" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:52 AM" & "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 11:36 AM"

They can only serve "M" the other "M" is your own responsibility; when the second "M" is SERVED, it's called "H" -- actually a "H".....

  21. Q wants puppet shows and capano wants el-yateem deported. I think the Liam message works.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Capano and his stupid pandering has made el-yateem a sympathetic figure and Capano look like an extremist making it impossible to win in November. Not that it matters since bob was in last place anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Liam had a massive grassroots team deployed at the Parade today. I don't think Bob was even there. That toll to cross the bridge...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Golden made sure all knew Q was his guy today at parade..donovan wasnt even there with mccabe

    ReplyDelete
  25. Isn't Q's call for more puppets a conflict of interest?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Everyone know Golden has more people who follow his endorsement than Donovan!

    ReplyDelete
  27. to 4:45 does everyone know Marty loses Bay Ridge when a warm body runs against him?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Didn't Marty endorse John "Puppet Boy" Quaglione last time?

    ReplyDelete
  29. At the parade breakfast today, the talk of the town was Independent Theater. I was hoping Q and El-Qaeda would talk about it more on the campaign trail. I did not see Capano at the parade today. He may have been stuck in mall traffic.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I've never seen anybody win an election or primary who did not support independent theater.

    never

    ReplyDelete
  31. I didn't know that Independent Theater included puppets. Gail, will you please explain to everybody how puppets can be independent.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Marty Golden showed who his man was yesterday with John Q. The question many will be asking today is where was Donovan with McCabe. .

    ReplyDelete
  33. Clearly, Marty has to be close enough for a puppet like Q to move around and act like a real boy.

McCabe is his own man, and while appreciative of Donovan's endorsement, can think and act on his own.

Capano is just another Staten Islander.

  34. I heard Donovans french poodle was sick

    ReplyDelete
  35. Donovan was conspicuously absent yesterday. Funny how every time a local Republican elected official does something that Team Golden doesn't approve, they start to have "problems".

    ReplyDelete
  36. Golden and Orlando will show Donovan and OBrien whos in charge

    ReplyDelete
  37. Will Dawn be joining Orlando? Or is this a solo tour?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Donovan a non entity in Bay Ridge, except for the Bay Ridge Democrats, almost no one has any idea who he is. His employees in the Brooklyn Office like it that way.

    ReplyDelete
  39. If Q also nabs the Pink Lady & Jeff endorsement, his success will be complete.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I hear Vanilla Ice is leaning to Capano.
