HOW DID CAPANO GET HIS 2016 ON-AIR SPOT TO TALK ABOUT “HOMELESS ISSUES” ???
>>> AS A 2017 CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE <<<
“WELL, JOHN JUST ASKED ME TO GO ON….” --- BOB CAPANO
MANY IN THE BAY RIDGE REPUBLICAN-CONSERVATIVE ESTABLISMENT ARE LOOKING AT EACH OTHER AND WONDERING >>> WHAT COMES NEXT ???
OF COURSE, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE 2017 CAPANO CAMPAIGN FOR CITY COUNCIL IN THE 43rd COUNCIL DISTRICT --- WHICH LOOKS LIKE IT IS TAKING-OFF IN 2016 LIKE A FIGHTER-JET FROM AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER -- CATAPULTED INTO THE SKY BY OVERWHELMING POWER AND FORCE

I ASKED BOB CAPANO WHAT DOES HIS APPEARANCE ON "THE CAT'S ROUNDTABLE" MEAN AT THIS TIME
Needless, to say I had to call-up Bob to see what was happening
and what it all [Capano's appearance on "The Cat's Roundtable"] might mean at this stage of the Capano campaign.
When we finally connected, Bob Capano said that it all
happened very quickly in the middle of the week. When I asked did you ask to be on your boss's show,
Bob answered, “Not at all, John asked me….
He knew about my campaign and he knew that I had just taken up the issue
of the implications of rising homelessness around the city…..”
Capano then told me how they recorded his segment a couple of days ago; and that he was just waiting to see that it was officially listed in the media advisory put out by Rob Ryan, the Catsimatidis factotum for media matters.
Capano then told me how they recorded his segment a couple of days ago; and that he was just waiting to see that it was officially listed in the media advisory put out by Rob Ryan, the Catsimatidis factotum for media matters.
I tried to smoke Bob out about how much support he was going
to get from John Catsimatidis, but Bob didn’t
want to speak for his boss. However, Bob did
tell me “off the record” what he thought it all meant at this stage of things as far as he was concerned…. I can’t talk about that, but I what I can tell you is what I think
about some of this stuff (including stuff from tonight's callback to me from Bob).
Now remember, the following four items are strictly MY OPINIONS about stuff that I heard and/or figured out:
First, John Catsimatidis and Rob Ryan both have long memories;
and they also have kept pretty up-to-date about “what’s going on in Bay Ridge” and the
rest of Brooklyn [and they know what's going on vis- a-vis Marty Golden and Jerry Kassar];Now remember, the following four items are strictly MY OPINIONS about stuff that I heard and/or figured out:
Second, John Catsimatidis [and probably Rob Ryan too] think(s) that
Bob Capano is the right person at the right place at the right time for a City Council race
in 2017;
Third, it is still very, very early in the 2017 campaign,
and many people have many plans; and
Fourth, without much doubt, John Catsimatidis will be involved in Capano's fund raising in some important ways; but money and
any other support from the Big Cat must be structured based on the precise financing formula(s) that the
Capano campaign [and possibly other campaigns] might choose to implement, especially in the context of the municipal campaign financing
laws and rules.
I think that’s enough
about the implications of Bob Capano’s appearing on “The Cat’s Rountable” for now…..
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
BTW --- One of the last things that Bob Capano mentioned to me in our phone call [which was specifically not “off the record”] was this: Capano is considering an “opt-out” from the NYC public financing of campaigns formulas; and that certain fund-raising and PR experts would be looking at that from various angles – including the interaction with other campaigns, inside and/or outside public financing [part of what has to be weighed is the possibly increased levels of public financing to Capano's opponents if Capano were to opt-out].
Is Kassar giving Capano a Wilson/Pakula?
ReplyDeleteCant win without it.
My my !!
ReplyDeleteSuch language.
I'll have to keep my children away from this blog
Capanos radio appearance must have killed the ratings for Meet The Press
ReplyDelete858am ..you are funny, no matter what capano does its always sonething to diminish it..I can see it now, when he is Councilman you will say its nothing because hes not Mayor, when hes mayor you will say its nothing cause hes not governor when he is governor you will say its nothing cause hes not president. .you get the point!! Hahahah
ReplyDeleteI don't if he or she gets the point, but I'm getting the feeling someone spends too much time fantasizing. Capano got trounced by Alec Brook Krasny and Vincent Gentile, apparently barely got elected to County Committee in Richmond County. I'm thinking City Council looks like a long shot for Bob.
ReplyDeleteIs Bob really aiming at the City Council or is he aiming to settle lots of scores with & for lots of people -- Jesse Askin
ReplyDeleteWhat "scores"?
ReplyDeleteLet's start with -- "Major Strasser has been shot.... Round up the usual suspects...."
ReplyDeleteof all the council joints in the whole world he had to come into this one

ReplyDeleteThats good news for republicans but bad news for democrats! !

ReplyDeleteUPDATE & BACKFILL: THE “MORE THAN JUST THE PROBLEMS OF THREE PEOPLE” EDITION
ReplyDeleteBOB CAPANO RECALLS HIS OWN INVOLVEMENT IN A SIGNIFICANT & NECESSARY BAY RIDGE INITIATIVE TO REMEDY A SERIOUS NUISANCE CAUSED BY THE HOMELESS AT THE BAY RIDGE TOWERS
Earlier today as a guest on The Cats’ Roundtable Sunday morning radio show, Bob Capano said that he held Mayor de Blasioand his policies directly responsible for the rise of homelessness on city streets. Capano charged that the city administration only addresses homeless encampments on our streets and parks when a news story about them is published. Capano charged that lately the city administration only seemed to address the homeless on our streets and in the parks when a news story about a large encampment of the homeless in somebody’s neighborhood is published in the papers, like the NY Post did this week.
Bob then said that “… New Yorkers are legitimately concerned about aggressive panhandling, unsanitary conditions, and the safety of their children with the rise of these makeshift homes and the homeless population. Unfortunately, this is just another example of the quality of life gains [that were] made in our city being reversed…” and it sparks concerns by many living in the city that we are “… sliding back to the 'bad old days'."
Also during his segment on the Catsimatidis radio show, Bob Capano recounted his own experiences working with multiple city agencies to help clear-up a major homeless encampment on the edge of Bay Ridge. During his radio interview, Capano recalled all the heavy lifting in 2006 necessary to move various NYC agencies to clear-out a homeless encampment in the 65th street rail yards in a cavernous space directly under the Bay Ridge Towers. Among many other more-anti-social activities, the homeless living at the site would make fires to keep warm and to cook, the area was filled with garbage, and was extremely dangerous situation for all, especially considering that an open gate and a broken chain linked fence presented easy access for neighborhood children move into the encampment.
At the time, Bob was the Brooklyn Director for former Congressman Vito Fossella, Capano said he saw first-hand the numerous problems that the homeless encampment caused to local residents right in his own neighborhood. He mentioned that --- “I vividly recall several on-site inspections and our work with Community Board 10, the 68th Precinct, the Department of Sanitation, the Department of Homeless Services, the LIRR, and the MTA to clean-up and secure the site, which was actually on railroad property, but located directly below part of the air-rights of the Bay Ridge Towers.
At the time, Craig Eatono was the Chairman of Community Board 10. Concerning the problems of the homeless in the railway cut at 65th Street and under the slab of the Towers, Eaton said, “This was an extremely dangerous situation, which exposed both the residents of the Bay Ridge Towers and pedestrians of the area to harm. We held numerous meetings with the city, LIRR, MTA, and New York and Atlantic Railway but were unable to resolve the issues. Working with Congressman Fossella, Bob Capano, Mayor Bloomberg, and city agencies we were finally able to clean and secure this location.”
ReplyDeleteHeres to looking at you kid
ReplyDeletefrankly Gale, I don't give a dam
ReplyDeleteLeave it to Bob to have speak about issues affecting Bay Ridge fifteen years ago. The Homeless problem is a serious issue in this city but hardly a top ten concern of Bay Ridgites. But then again Bob moved out of Bay Ridge so long ago that his next Press Release may demand the installation of more pay phones to serve the needs of the local residents.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "WHO'S THE ONE REALLY NOT IN TOUCH WITH BAY RIDGE" EDITION
ReplyDeleteCOMMENT MAKER "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 8:37 AM" NEEDS TO WAKE-UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE --- BOB CAPANO IS ON TOP OF THE PRESENT-DAY EMERGENT PROBLEM OF HOMELESSNESS IN BAY RIDGE AND NEARBY COMMUNITIES --- IT IS QUITE VISIBLE & IT'S BEEN REPORTED IN THE LOCAL PAPERS
Let's start out with "...8:37 AM's" very bad math. The NY Times broke a major story about homelessness in Bay Ridge in 2004 -- that's twelve years ago; Capano recounted his experiences in helping to clear that up in 2006, along with all the difficulties -- that's ten year's ago; Vito Fossella was personally following-up at the Bay Ridge Towers in 2008 -- that's eight years ago; there have been several articles in the Spectator/Home Reporter, as well as other local papers, about the homeless over the last two years [including a couple of items about Liam McCabe's efforts last year].
SO, "...8:37 AM," homelessness is not a 15-year-ago problem in Bay Ridge --- it's here right now; it seems to be getting worse; and Bob Capano is addressing that.
Bob Capano is right-on in not wanting us to slip back into "...the bad old days..." of homelessness, whether it's 8, 12, 15 or 20 years ago..... It looks to me that "...8:37 AM" is either in denial, un- or mis-informed or just plain lying.
The local community board just reported a 50% increase in complaints in homelessness..
ReplyDelete837am is out of touch or just part of the anti-capano crowd
GM, I think you missed something right under your nose about the implications of your buds, Capano and Eaton.
ReplyDeleteNot only does it look like Eaton's friend Johnny Cats is going all-in for Capano, Eaton's quote specifically mentioning the Bob Capano assist in dealing with the homeless when Eaton was the Community Board 10 Chairman indicates that Eaton is also 100% behind Capano for City Council in 2017.
Where is McCabe??? GM- you scared him out of race
ReplyDeleteNew York times has a cover story about Homeless population at shelters has reached a record high. This usually happens in the extreme cold of winter. Maybe Bob is on to something even though he stole it from McCabe
ReplyDeleteYou folks shilling for Bob Capano are clueless and really are stuck in time 12 years ago. Sorry I was off by three years GM. Bob doesn't know the issues because he doesn't live here. And of course Eaton is backing him, without him Bob would be stuck in a corner all by himself at these events. Try running on the homeless problem in Bay Ridge as your focal point and see where that gets you.
ReplyDeleteAccording to 837 am, everyone is wrong- The times, The Post, Bob, Community Board 10-- there is no homeless problem...
ReplyDeleteI think its fair to say 837 am has no clue
When Bob win the GOP Primary, Eaton will show he leads Brooklyn GOP- not Golden
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "IT'S NOT THEFT WHEN SOMEBODY HAS NO RIGHT" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:22 AM" AND ALL THE REST WHO COMMENTED IN FAVOR OF MCCABE'S RUNNING FOR THE COUNCIL ON THIS THREAD AND EARLIER THREADS
"WILL [LIAM]" HAS A BIG >>>PERSONAL PROBLEM<<< ON THE HOMELESS ISSUE --- AND >>> HE <<< HAS KNOWN THAT FOR A VERY LONG TIME
--- STARTING A "MEMORIAL RUN" ALMOST TEN YEARS FROM THE TIME OF THAT STORY AND RIGHT BEFORE A RUN FOR PUBLIC OFFICE DOESN'T CUT IT
--- HELPING TO DO A "COUNT OF THE HOMELESS" ELEVEN YEARS INTO THAT VERY FLAWED PROGRAM ISN'T DOING SOMETHING ABOUT ANYTHING NOW, BUT IT REALLY MIGHT HAVE >>> REALLY COUNTED <<< TEN YEARS EARLIER
--- IF "WILL [LIAM]" MCCABE WANTS TO CLAIM THE ISSUE OF "HOMELESSNESS" OR EVEN "HOMELESS VETERANS" AS HIS OWN, HE NEEDS TO COME 100% CLEAN ON HIS "DEEPLY PERSONAL" CONNECTION TO ALL OF IT
Just like "Will [Liam]" McCabe is going to have to come forward with a full explanation about his >>> more recent arrest <<< for a "DV" offense, what caused it and what resulted from it; he is going to have to explain his sudden interest in the homeless issue and his "deeply personal" connection to that problem, when his involvement or non-involvement in the underlying events leading up to that "deeply personal" stuff seem very problematic indeed.
In this regard, it doesn't seem at all accidental that "Will [Liam]" McCabe appeared in two similar but different published photographs on an overpass over the 65th Street rail yards next to the Bay Ridge Towers. Those photos accompanied stories in local newspaper articles intended to hype McCabe's newly-found "deeply personal" interest in the homeless issue.
Right now, I believe that "Will [Liam]" is being led around by some people that think they are being cynically clever; and they are pushing him forward with >>> Several agendas <<< in mind. Right now, my hope is that it isn't something deeper, more malignant and "Clintonesque" than that. Let's leave it at that; and let's keep it factual.
Gail, with your over-focusing on Bob Capano's radio "appearance"; I think you missed the real big news of yesterday that actually involved an APPEARANCE.
ReplyDeleteWith no opposition for re-election in Brooklyn, Brooklyn State Senator Golden is suddenly making political appearances outside his home borough. Yesterday, he was a major presence at an event on Father Capodano Boulevard in Richmond County.
Golden's foray ties into other activities by Golden's folks in GOP primaries, and other Golden folks in the Conservative Party primaries, all on Staten Island.
Maybe, Golden and his Conservative Party in Brooklyn think they can set up a colony of Brooklyn pols on Staten Island.
GM if you and your cohorts think that focusing maniacally on the homeless problem is going to lead Bob to victory, have at it. John Quaglione might actually have a chance against him.
ReplyDeleteJust face it 445pm it is clear nothing capano says or does will be ok for you..not the bag tax, not this, not anything..cant take i seriously
ReplyDeleteThis Capano sounds like a legend in his own mind
ReplyDeleteWithout the conservative line a republican loses
ReplyDeleteCapano will have the Conservative Party line as soon as he says his magic words to Kassar. And then I hope he says to Kassar, "That's nice, Jerry, I like my bitches fat with big pillow cheeks like yours."

August 30, 2016
Good Morning,
As you know, on Sunday Bob was on the radio airwaves in NYC warning that homelessness has reached a crisis point. He has also noted that 311 complaints from Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights regarding the homeless were up 50% last year. Indeed, just yesterday afternoon, several photos were posted on facebook of a homeless individual sleeping on 72nd Street and 5th Avenue. One resident noted that he was "relieving himself on the back of an SUV...small children were walking along and were watching him."
Bob has said with the increase of the street homeless population and their encampments, Brooklynites and New Yorkers are "legitimately worried about aggressive panhandling, unsanitary conditions on streets and in parks, and the safety of children."
Bob will continue to highlight this issue affecting all of our neighborhoods throughout his campaign. He will fight, just as he did in 2006 with former Community Board 10 Chairman Craig Eaton in 2006 at the Bay Ridge Rail Yards, to ensure our community is clean, secure, and safe.

WHAT BOB CAPANO DIDN”T MENTION IS THAT THIS OBVIOUS “QUALITY OF LIFE” PROBLEM WAS A MERE TWO BLOCKS AWAY FROM THE OFFICE WHERE JOHN QUAGLIONE, ONE OF THE PEOPLE MENTIONED AS A POSSIBLE OPPONENT TO CAPANO WORKS EVERYDAY. --- AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW VERY WELL, QUAGLIONE’S JOB IN THE OFFICE STATE SENATOR MARTIN GOLDEN IS TO BE SURE THAT “QUALITY OF LIFE” PROBLEMS, LIKE WHAT CAPANO JUST DESCRIBED IN HIS PRESS RELEASE, ARE TAKEN CARE OF, PROMPTLY AND WITHIN THE LAW.....
HMMMMM !!! 5TH AVENUE & 72nd STREET, THAT'S PRETTY CLOSE, JOHNNY Q, BETTER LOOK INTO THAT A LITTLE QUICKER THAN THE OTHER "QUALITY OF LIFE" STUFF !!!!!
wait how can this be??? according to 837am there are no homeless in Bay Ridge????????????????????????????
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "YOU ALMOST LOST ME... WITH YOUR WAY-WAAAY BACK REFERENCE" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "... 8:35 AM" ABOVE
You can't just refer to somebody as "837 am" when you're comment is "... at 8:35 AM" --- luckily, I looked WAY-WAAAY back and found it at "...August 29, 2016 at 8:37 AM"
To the poster at 9:34 you probably don't even live near Bay Ridge of you think that's one of the problems keeping people up at night. You're a genius in every sense of the word except the actual meaning.
ReplyDeleteUPDATE: THE “2017 CAULDRON IS BUBBLING IN 2016” EDITION
ReplyDeleteMAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, THE 2017 RACE FOR VINNY GENTILE’S CITY COUNCIL SEAT IS UP AND RUNNING --- AND THAT’S ACCORDING TO THE BENSONHURST BEAN
THE BENSONHURST BEAN ALSO MAKES PUBLIC A LIST OF CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES IN THE 43RD COUNCIL DISTRICT ALONG WITH A TORTURED AND FANCIFUL “BREAKDOWN” OF WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY’VE DONE
Here’s how Sean Egan of the Besonhurst Bean sees it --- “The race to succeed term-limited City Councilman Vincent Gentile — who has represented the 43rd District for more than 13 years — is starting to heat up….” (See “Here’s Who May Be Running For Gentile‘s City Council Seat” by Sean Egan, 8-31-16, Bensonhurst Bean [http://www.bensonhurstbean.com/2016/08/heres-might-running-city-council-district-43/#.V8dcYo-cHIU]). The article continues with this: “ … the elections won’t be underway for more than a year (November 2017), but here is a breakdown of the Democrats and Republicans who are rumored to be eying the seat….” Then the article goes on to do its rather superficial and quite factually challenged “breakdown” of those it sees as “candidates.” Included on the BB’s list are the following:
Justin Brannan (D); Linda Sarsour (D); Bob Capano (R); John Quaglione (R); Assemblyman Peter Abbate Jr. (D); Liam McCabe (R); Kevin Peter Carroll (D); and Josephine Beckman (D)
Mccabe is not a republican
