Here is a very important query about the Hillary Clinton E-Mails Released by the State Department yesterday — — — WHY THE REDACTION OF HILLARY CLINTON’S SUGGESTION ABOUT A “PRIVATE” GUN-RUNNING OPERATION IN LIBYA ? ? ?
Who did it ? Who authorized it ? — AND — Why ?
According to a report by Stephen F. Hayes in “The Weekly Standard” — “Among the emails released by the State Department today was one sent by Hillary Clinton to Jake Sullivan on April 8, 2011. Clinton was forwarding a private intelligence report that Sidney Blumenthal had sent her with the subject line: ‘UK game playing; new rebel strategists; Egypt moves in....’
In the State Department release today, Clinton responds with "FYI" and a sentence that is redacted.... (See “State Dept. Makes Curious Redaction in Hillary Email” by Stephen F. Hayes, 5/22/15, The Weekly Standard [http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/state-dept-makes-curious-redaction-hillary-email_953420.html]).
The Hayes article goes on to note that when the New York Times posted its versions of the Hillary Clinton-Sidney Blementhal E-Mails earlier this week, the sentence from Hillary Clinton’s E-Mail responding to Sidney Blumenthal was NOT REDACTED. In the Times's version the later-redacted sentence reads like this — "FYI. The idea of using private security experts to arm the opposition should be considered."
Hayes also noted that “... [t]he redaction in the State Department version is labeled a ‘B5' Freedom of Information Act exception, which provides for a ‘deliberative privilege’ in keeping the information from the public....” Then Hayes asked this “obvious question” — “Why did the State Department redact that sentence ?”
Another obvious question is how the State Department considered one of Hillary Clinton’s communications to a non-governmental agent associated with the Clinton Foundation containing a suggestion to use “private” operatives to move weaponry into Libya could be in any way “deliberative” in the context of Secretary Clinton's State Department duties.

BACKFILL: THE “WHO REALLY KNOWS WHAT’S GOING ON WHEN IT COMES TO SIDNEY BLUMENTHAL” EDITION
ReplyDeleteHE SURE KNOWS A LOT AND HAS SOMETHING TO SAY — BUT WHO CAN SAY WHAT THAT WILL BE ?
As part of what is now accepted as generally accepted background, Glenn Thrush mentioned this in his article for Politico: "... [A]s the Benghazi emails show, [Sidney] Blumenthal and [Hillary] Clinton managed to work together [ ] in typical over-the-transom fashion. One could hear the you-can’t-stop-me in Clinton’s voice Tuesday when she defended the correspondence: “He sent me unsolicited emails which I passed on in some instances, and I say that that’s just part of the give and take....” (See “Hillary Clinton's dark whisperer is back – Sid Blumenthal is about to be hauled before a House committee on Benghazi but that won't break his bond with Hillary” by Glenn Thrush, 5/22/15, Politico [http://www.politico.com/story/2015/05/sidney-blumenthal-hillary-clinton-118212.html]).
According to the Glenn Thrush report, “Sidney Blumenthal is right back where he wants to be: in the middle of another partisan blood feud with the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy he’s been fighting since the 1990s.... Hillary Clinton’s wartime, peacetime — anytime — confidant has been thrust again into the public eye by disclosures that he had shoveled questionable second-hand intelligence on Libya in 2012 to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in the form of reports she forwarded to her skeptical Foggy Bottom aides.
Thrush went on to state the following: “... Blumenthal broke his silence on the Benghazi emails late Thursday, issuing a statement through his attorney saying he intended to fully cooperate with congressional investigators and emphasizing the informal nature of his consultations with Clinton. ‘From time to time, as a private citizen and friend, I provided Secretary Clinton with material on a variety of topics that I thought she might find interesting or helpful.... The reports I sent her came from sources I considered reliable. I have informed the House Select Committee on Benghazi that I will cooperate with its inquiry and look forward to answering the Committee’s questions.’...”
