PREET BHARARA’S FEDERAL INVESTIGATION OUT OF MORELAND COMMISSION — FILINGS SHOW GOLDEN SPENT $31,000 OF HIS CAMPAIGN DONATIONS ON LEGAL FEES

BHARARA NOW LOOKING INTO SHELLEY SILVER’S LEGAL FEES FOR GETTING TAX BREAKS FOR WEALTHY REAL ESTATE TYPES — LOOKING FOR SIMILAR CLOSED CIRCLE TO GOLDEN’S — SILVER PROBE ALSO CAME OUT OF MORELAND COMMISSION

According to an item in the NY Daily News by Ken Lovett, “... Under investigation by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, state Sen. Martin Golden (R-Brooklyn) has used more than $31,000 in campaign funds on legal fees to Gottlieb & Gordon LLP, records show. *** Golden confirmed Bharara is looking into his his campaign finances. He said he has not met with investigators, but his lawyers have sent paperwork to them. *** The veteran senator said future filings will show additional payments from his campaign fund to his lawyers, but insisted that ‘it won't be much’...." ( See: “Sen. Martin Golden uses campaign funds on legal bills” by Ken Lovett, 12/29/14, Daily News/ Daily Politics [http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dailypolitics/sen-martin-golden-campaign-funds-legal-bills-blog-entry-1.2059104]). Doesn’t Marty know that before he was done, Grimm’s legal fees were into the seven figure range. Of course, in the circles in which Marty now travels, millions for legal fees might not be much.

For some interesting reading about Shelley Silver according to the New York Times (See: “U.S. Said to Investigate Sheldon Silver, New York Assembly Speaker, Over Payments” by William K. Rashbaum, Thomas Kaplan &Suzanne Craig, 12/29/14, NY Times [http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/30/nyregion/us-said-to-investigate-new-york-assembly-speaker-over-pay-from-law-firm.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=first-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=1]). In that article it said, “... Prosecutors from the United States attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York and agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation have found that the law firm, Goldberg & Iryami, P.C., has paid Mr. Silver the sums over roughly a decade, but that he did not list that income on his annual financial disclosure forms, as required... *** ... The investigation into the Goldberg firm’s payments to Mr. Silver grew out of the work of the Moreland Commission, an anticorruption panel that Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, a Democrat, created in 2013 but abruptly shut down in March. Before it was shut down, the commission had investigated how lawmakers earn money outside of Albany, though the inquiry was stymied by a legal challenge from lawmakers and their employers....”

I BET SOME OF YOU THOUGHT THAT THE CONSTITUENTS WERE THE LAWMAKERS’ EMPLOYERS ! — BOTH GOLDEN AND SILVER ARE NOW IN THE SOUP BECAUSE OF BIG TIME REAL ESTATE MONEY FOR TAX BREAKS
