A solid rumor has it that, while State Senator Martin Golden was appearing on the Borough Hall steps to boost the re-election campaign of Brooklyn DA Charles "Joe" Hynes, legal beagles working for Golden's "Republicans for Change" were getting ready to blow up what's left of the 2013 Republican campaigns for Mayor, the Brooklyn DA and several City Council seats in Brooklyn by going into court against the Brooklyn GOP Organization
An action at law and/or a special proceeding to set aside the results of the Kings County Republican Convention has been prepared and is winding its way through the legal system and probably will be served on the necessary parties within the next few days. The purpose of such a lawsuit by the Golden faction would be to remove Craig Eaton from his County Leadership post as Brooklyn GOP County Chairman.
A similar suit was brought against the Queens County Republican Party in the Supreme Court for Queens by Bob Turner on Monday. According to a report in the Daily News, "The filing by attorney and political vet Thomas Ognibene, argues, in part, that the county called its Sept. 27 organizational meeting at the last minute and in the middle of a workday (and on a Jewish holiday) to suppress turnout, and that for a slew of other procedural reasons, Turner believes the election was "stolen." Marty Golden couldnt "blow up" whats left of the GOP.
ReplyDeleteHes disabled. The city pays him because he cant work.
I hope people are starting to see a pattern here. Golden is a greedy, egotistical man who wants to control everything. I even hear that he has been reaching out to GOP officials in the other Counties to meet with them and take about the GOP in New York City. I read that after Eaton won, he sent out a press release asking for unity in the GOP - yet Golden is on a war path that will only end with Golden's defeat in 2014 - something we should all work hard to have happen. He is now going to destroy any chance for Lota, Hynes, or any of the Council candidates to win since the fighting will continue into Nov 2014....hey, if eaton was smart he would depose everyone and for sure, the case will be delayed for months and months - Go Eaton!
ReplyDeleteThis is something bigger than Marty Golden.
DeleteWhen I spoke to Mr. Lhota early in 2013, he said that he was involved with a group that intended to "rebuild" the Republican Party in New York City and State. He said they wanted to put a whole new infrastructure into place; and that's what both George Pataki and Rudy Giuliani failed to do. He said that regardless how his mayoral race turned out, even if he didn't get the nomination, he and that group would be around after 2013 to restructure the party; and anybody who wanted to be on the inside in the Republican Party going forward needed to be with him and that group.
Isn't there a strange parallel between the Queens GOP insurgents and those in Brooklyn ? They both involve officeholder or a former officeholder who had close personal dealings with certain people in the Conservative Party. And whose relationships are closer than any they have with the Republican establishment.

ReplyDeleteSOMETHING BIG IS GOING ON AMONG THE GOP’S KEY PLAYERS IN BROOKLYN
The phone wires are humming, some are burning....
I doubt that it has anything to do with anything I've done, but it is certainly related to what I said in the post above about the “...One GOP faction [that] has decided to sue the rest of the Republican Party.” In other words, it's not about my making the report in the post above, but it is about what that report was talking about — THE LAWSUIT by Golden and or his minions and pinions associated with the insurgency to make Timothy Cochrane the Republican County Leader.
There will be more specifics very soon, things are moving very quickly.
"Just remember this, a kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh -- the fundamental things apply..." and the courtroom benches in Brooklyn are big enough for everybody’s assets.
UPDATE (Edited version – Original Comment with the same headline by Galewyn Massey was posted October 9, 2013 at 12:39 PM):
ReplyDeleteI HAD A CONVERSATION WITH ONE OF MY TOP BAKER STREET IRREGULARS, WHO HAPPENS TO BE A NAMED PARTY IN THE GREAT BROOKLYN GOP CONVENTION LAWSUIT
THAT PERSON EXPRESSED SURPRISE THAT DIANE RUDIANO AND THE CO-PLAINTIFFS HAD TO NAME SO MANY INDIVIDUAL DEFENDANTS. "As far as I'm concerned it's not personal... It just had to be done that way, I suppose... No matter what happens, in three, four or six months, we'll all have to be together as the Republican Party for 2014."
Others that I have spoken to clearly are not amused. And they are planning to respond in kind. "Nobody who is behind this will stay in the clear, everybody who belongs in court, will be in court.... This didn't begin and end with a Republican Convention on September 30th...."
On another point, the top Baker Street Irregular that I mentioned above in this comment disagrees with me that the lawsuit, in which he is a named party, would necessarily disrupt any of the GOP campaigns in Brooklyn. This is what that particular BSI said: “I can walk and chew gum at the same time; so can everybody else.... Of course, if anybody wants to use this lawsuit as an excuse to sit on their hands.... That’ll be up to them.”
I heard this guy is suing the Brooklyn GOP.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck.
http://thenoceratapes.blogspot.com/
And this guy is one of Lhota and Golden's BIGGEST supporters...they should see this tape.....
ReplyDeleteIsn't he the same guy who is a key witness because he made the videotape of the convention ? I wonder if his video showed Diane Rudiano writing on a pile of proxies right in the hall where the convention was held ?
DeleteAn Order to Show Cause and Verified Petition seeking to invalidate the election of Craig Eaton as Chairman of the Kings County Republican Party at the County Convention on September 30th, 2013, and other relief was prepared by the Long Island Law Firm of Sinnreich, Kosakoff and Mesina of Central Islip, a/k/a C.I. ("C.I." is a notorious place in the history of mental health, and you will see that mentioned in later coverage of this matter on this blog, I'm sure) and it all was submitted to the Hon. David Schmidt, S.Ct., Kings Co., for signature between 4:00 and 4:30 PM on Monday, October 7th. The petition was verified by each of the named petitioners, Diane Haslett Rudiano, Glenn Nocera, Maureen Daly and Marie E. Daly, each of whom made specific allegations about the selection and composition of certain committees and the conduct of the 2013 Kings County Republican County Convention at Remsen Hall in Brooklyn on September 30th, 2013, the handling of the proxies and/or the election of Mr. Eaton and others, all at the convention held at the time and place mentioned above.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to Mr. Eaton, a virtual cast of thousands were named as defendants-respondents in what appears to be a Petition for a Special Elections Proceeding.
The matter is noticed to be next heard before Justice Schmidt on October 18th, 2013. Justice Schmidt usually throws a nice party; and a good time should be had by all.
Lincoln lost Brooklyn, twice.
ReplyDeleteYou know why?
He was a Republican
As mentioned above, Marty Golden is power hungry and cannot stomach the fact that Eaton chose Cats while he chose Lhota - that is the bottom line. He is further disappointed and frustrated that Eaton won the Chairman position, again, despite all of Golden's poor, pathetic attempts to oust him from the position. Golden is going to get buried in court - cannot wait to see this.
ReplyDeleteBased on a quick reading, I could see State Senator Martin Golden mentioned nowhere in the papers by Rudiano, Nocera and the two Daly ladies.
DeleteThat is because he is slick and is trying to make it appear as if he has nothng to do with the case. But just keep looking in the newspapers for pay to play articles and you WILL see Goldens name. Rapflogel did it and now it appears in the Daily News today that Golden did the same thing with the movie industry in NYC - PAY TO PLAY.......my friend....illegal,,,,,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads-up, Mimi (one of our favorite Bohemian Baker Streeters).... See the Comment about "...chewing gum..." and "...Hollywood..." below.
DeleteUPDATE: THE MARTY GOLDEN “WALKING AN CHEWING GUM AT THE SAME TIME” EDITION — OR SHOULD THAT BE — THE “HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD !” EDITION
ReplyDeleteWhile his minions and pinions (oh, just go and look it up; you’re on a computer, after all) are busy suing the Brooklyn GOP, State Senator Martin Golden is proving that what one of his agents told me recently, “...I can walk and chew gum at the same time....” is certainly true of “Senator Marty” as well; especially when it comes to making hay while the sun shines — and boy doesn’t State Senator Golden know how to make hay for himself ! The latest insight into the Golden money making machine comes from the Daily News (See “TV execs give big money to New York politicians who hand them tax credits” by Kenneth Lovett, 10/10/13, NY Daily News [http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/tv-execs-hand-big-bucks-ny-pols-give-tax-breaks-article-1.1481164]).
According to the Daily News account, “Among individual lawmakers [who received Hollywood money is State] Sen. Martin Golden, the Brooklyn Republican who has carried several film industry-backed bills, [and who] received $30,300 since 2010....” The state senator must really be carrying a lot of water for Hollywood’s special interests, because the movie and TV guys overwhelmingly make their contributions to the Democrats. So it looks like State Senator Golden has earned a new nickname: “Hollywood Marty Golden” — now, how about a rousing chorus, “Hooray for HOLLYWOOD ! ... Dah-dah, dah-dah, dah-dah, dah-dah... HOLLYWOOD...”
UPDATE: JACOB KORNBLUH RELEASES THE “REPUBLICANS FOR CHANGE” COURT PAPERS — SAYS THAT THEY ARE THE REAL PARTIES IN INTEREST IN THE LAWSUIT TO CHALLENGE THE VOTE FOR BROOKLYN GOP CHAIRMAN
ReplyDeleteAccording to Jacob Kornbluh, “The fight for the guy at the helm of a fractured Republican Party in Brooklyn has entered its most challenging phase, as a petition was filed on behalf of the “Republican for Change” faction – led by Senator Marty Golden – to remove Craig Eaton from his County Leadership post as Brooklyn GOP County Chairman, and declare Timothy Cochrane as the duly elected chairman of the party. *** The lawsuit is based on Mr. Golden’s faction’ claim that Brooklyn GOP Chairman, Craig Eaton, won his reelection bid undemocratically. ***
The court hearing will be held on October 18th, 2013 before Judge David Shmidt [sic]....” (See “Document Drop: Republican For Change Challenge Brooklyn GOP Chairman’[sic] Vote” by Jacob Kornbluh, 10/10/13, Yeshiva World News [http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=192137]).

UPDATE, BACKFILL & OPINION: THE “MARTY GOLDEN’S BLOODY FINGERPRINTS ON THE BODY AND JERRY KASSAR’S FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW” EDITION
ReplyDeleteDoreen Garson’s signature appears in six places on the legal papers that were filed in court on October 7, 2013 – those papers commenced the legal action and/or proceeding that was brought against the Brooklyn Republican Party, the recently re-elected KCRP Chairman Craig Eaton and the new KCRP Secretary Russell Gallo and many others associated with the Brooklyn Republican establishment and operation.
Even though there are four nominal Plaintiffs-Petitioners, it has been reported, both here on this blog and elsewhere, that the real parties in interest are State Senator Martin Golden, his front group “Republicans for Change” and the losing candidates for Brooklyn GOP Chairman and Secretary, Timothy Cochrane and Diane Haslett Rudiano. To that list add Jerry Kassar, the Brooklyn Conservative Party Chairman and State Senator Golden’s Chief of Staff.
The proof of the Kassar-Conservative Party involvement is Doreen Garson. She has a long history that includes multiple associations with Mr. Kassar, both as the Conservative Party Chairman and in his capacity as Chief of Staff for State Senator Golden. It’s just like finding a bunch of Golden’s bloody fingerprints around the crime scene of a murdered cadaver, and outside finding Jerry Kassar’s boot prints in the snow and mud leading up to a broken window that is clearly the point of entry of the murderer.
Since everything that has been done by Golden, Kassar and their agents in the so-called “Republicans for Change” has been a functional “Raid” by the Conservative Party upon the Kings County Republican Party, any litigation involving any aspect of that attempted takeover, such as the current GOP Convention lawsuit, must incorporate counterclaims against all the real parties in interest.
That's what Craig Eaton wants to do. On the other hand, his closest advisers have recommended a simple motion to dismiss the lawsuit that the Golden side filed on October 7, 2013 for failure to obtain proper jurisdiction and failure to state a cause of action or other grounds of relief.
DeleteThat might really be what is best for Eaton, but it also might be what's best for Golden too. There's the rub... there are now people in the Brooklyn GOP who are "All anti-Golden all of the time."
Guess who might have the deciding vote --- the various players from the LaGuardia Club and they'll do what's best for them. Or, to put it another way, do what's worst for Clorinda Annarummo and Simon Shamooun --- that would mean a bigger lawsuit including the pre-convention, pre-primary BOE shredding incident.
The Friday "Morning Line" would book the bigger lawsuit favored by Eaton and the La Guardia Club at 4 to 5....
BACKFILL: THE "WHY JOSEPH HAYON WASN'T NAMED IN THE GREAT 2013 BROOKLYN GOP CONVENTION LAWSUIT" EDITION
ReplyDeleteThere is a very good chance that it was a simple oversight by counsel for the Marty Golden-"Republicans for Change" faction. But, one of the more opinionated members of the Eaton faction of Brooklyn Republicans thinks that it was intentional, because Hayon is an Orthodox Jew and the current Justice running the Election Part in Brooklyn is the Hon. David Schmidt, JSC., who anybody who's had an election case in the last few years knows is also an Orthodox Jew.
That little bit of Brooklyn ethnic subtlety would probably not be something that Vincent Messina, Esq., of Central Islip would likely get on the first version of the OSC & Petition. So, if the omission of Hayon was intentional, it would probably have come from somebody in the Golden brain trust; and probably it would not have been Kassar, because he would not want Hayon to get a free ride into a Brooklyn GOP post.
A recent meeting of GOP insiders to discuss the post-convention lawsuit, was very certain that the choice of the four named Plaintiffs-Petitioners was a major blunder that demonstrated a lack of knowledge about the well-known backgrounds of the four by the real parties at interest in the lawsuit.
UPDATE & BACKFILL: NYC DOI INVESTIGATORS BEGIN QUESTIONING NYC BOE EMPLOYEES AND OFFICIALS ABOUT BOE INVOLVEMENT IN GATHERING GOP DELEGATES AND PROXIES FOR SEPTEMBER 30th CONVENTION
ReplyDeleteLast Thursday, people at the Brooklyn Board saw and in some instances spoke to representatives of the New York City Department of Investigation who were looking into complaints arising from the involvement of certain Board of Election Officials in directing BOE resources and employees to participate in the Republican County Convention on September 30th.
It is believed that the focus of these investigators is on BOE Commissioner Simon Shamoun and a key Brooklyn Board Official Diane Rudiano, both of whom have been identified with the State Senator Martin Golden and his "Republicans for Change" faction.
