Nothing says free speech like twisting the arms of college administrators to change their original positions --- and calling for lockdowns --- because some students might have been uncomfortable about a campus demonstration for the rights of Palestinians to live in peace in THEIR TRADITIONAL HOMELAND --- and not approve of having a million Palestinian civilians completely uprooted from their homes in North Gaza by the IDF in a terrible military relocation of Palestinian civilians to an undefined and unprepared-for future south of the Wadi Gaza
Nothing says free speech like the watchful eyes of armed paramilitary policing brigades --- on, off, and all-around the Brooklyn College --- to enforce what those heavily armored and armed cops deem(ed) to be an orderly assembly and movement of people as directed
Once again, the NYS Conservative Party under Gerard Kassar has decided to celebrate the announcement and reports of the presence of storm troopers at Brooklyn College to protect interests that Kassar and certain Councilmembers wanted protected, supress interests that they wanted supressed, and to silence or at least mute any contrary notions or opposition >>> IF THIS KIND OF THING CONTINUES, KASSAR'S KONSERVATIVE BLACK BOOTED THUGS WILL SOON PROTECT US OUT OF EVERY RIGHT THAT WE HAVE....
Yesterday, it was at Brooklyn College today at Times Square and other locations around the City --- if Kassar had his way, no doubt, soon it would be all colleges and town squares around New York City and State. --- And all of it surely will be described as it was on Thursday >>> efforts to keep certain people "comfortable" at the expense of many of the basic rights of others.
Strange, that Ari Kagan didn't join the others in this bit of heavy handed Soviet-like thuggery!
ReplyDeleteInna was in rare form according to the Daily News. She was detained on a gun charge.

BRINGING GUNS TO A DEMONSTRATION --- NOW, WHO LOOKS LIKE THE TERRORIST IN OUR MIDST ???
Here's only one of the typical media reports:
"City Council member Inna Vernikov was arrested after... carrying a gun to a Pro-Palestinian rally [near] the Brooklyn College campus on Thursday afternoon.... The Republican representing Southern Brooklyn turned herself in at the 70th Precinct Friday morning, accompanied by her lawyer, and was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed. She surrendered her gun and gun permit permit at the precinct and was given a desk appearance ticket, the spokesperson said.... The Council member didn’t respond to a request for comment, nor did a spokesperson for the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office. Criminal possession of a firearm is a class E felony and can result in prison time upon conviction...."
Inna had a permit.
ReplyDeleteI thought Kassar was Italian
ReplyDelete1123, but did Inna have a hunting license that would have been valid at Brooklyn College?

ReplyDeleteREPUBLICAN COUNCILWOMAN INNA VERNIKOV APPEARS TO HAVE COMMITTED MULTIPLE CHARGEABLE FELONIES AT THE FIRST-AMENDMENT-PROTECTED-GATHERINGS IN AND AROUND BROOKLYN COLLEGE ON THURSDAY
By openly carrying a pistol to the Brooklyn College pro- and anti-Hamas rallies on Thursday means that Republican Councilwoman Inna Vernikov very likely should be indicted for multiple crimes under several of New York State’s strict gun laws and for additional violations inder the ordinances in the City of New York --- even if the firearm was for a lawfully registered gun and Vernikov had an otherwise valid "concealed carry" permit.
Background >>> On Thursday, New York City Council Member Inna Vernikov showed up armed with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol to a pro-Palestine protest on the sidewalks immediately outside Brooklyn College.... Vernikov was there to oppose the pro-Palestinian protest, which Vernikov characterized as "antisemitic," and had arranged with the CUNY Administrators to have the protest moved from inside the gates of the Brooklyn College campus onto an adjoining sidewalk on a thoroughfare running between certain Brooklyn College grounds, facilities and buildings. Prior to the incidents involving her open display of what a[[eared to be a firearm at the public gatherings at Brooklyn College on Thursday, Vernikov had announced that she and the other specifically named NYC Council Members would be on hand at the protest "to help any students who felt unsafe."
Several pictures of Vernikov at the rally showed her openly carrying a pistol >>> with its grip clearly visible stuck into the front of her pants, and with the clip of a the gun's holster also in plain sight outside of her pants and over the waistband. [Copies of those photos, and another of Inna displaying her gun at another time, will be posted ina subsequent featured posting coming soon]
By Friday, the New York City Police Department had confirmed that Republican Councilwoman Inna Vernikov had been arrested on a gun possession charge and given a DAT after turning herself in early Friday morning at the 70th Precinct in Brooklyn, and turning both her gun and her apparently valid "carry permit" over to the police.
50 protesters arrested last night in front of Schumers apartment.
