If we were Dickens, we would start off with this
>>> "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way --- in short, the period was so far like the present period that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only...." <<<
That was the front end of a 19th Century story by Charles Dickens about imminent and eminent things happening in 18th Century England and France --- we live in less literary or literate times --- however, things are no less restive or revolutuionary in 21st Century Southwest Brooklyn
For a variety of reasons, the crown of "Boss of Bay Ridge" doesn't sit on Justin Brannan's head comfortably or unchallenged --- that's because Brannan's current base of power, as the principal incumbent Councilman in the 47th District spills over the boundaries of Bay Ridge in multiple directions
One of those directions is a little bit toward the old stomping grounds of another "Demorat Boss" and incumbent City Councilman --- Ari Kagan --- who has become a "Republican" City Council candidate in the 47th District as a result of more twists and crosses than a three-ring pretzel
Add to that a Brooklyn GOP and Conservative Party that lost to Brannan twice in a row in NYC Council elections that they should have won --- with some "home grown talent" thinking it might be their turn to take on Brannan again
So, what's a girl like Ted Ghorra to do ???
If history is any guide, Ghorra will again make any Faustian deal that the agent of the devil, Jerry Kassar, puts in front of him. As a result of that, Brannan will remain the "Boss of Bay Ridge" and stay in the City Council to finish out his term-limited tenure.
The facts are clear and the analysis is there for eveybody to make. The Brooklyn GOP and Conservative Party see things though Jerry Kassar's disease--ridden eyes; and they function through Kassar's acolytes, whose extremities are as palsied as Kassar's.
That out-of-date world view with equally outdated campaign tactics and techniques, have left and continue to leave the Brooklyn GOP and the Conservative Party completely out of touch with most of Bay Ridge, and increasingly alientated from the folks in surrounding areas.
Just as important, neither Kassar, the Brooklyn GOP nor the Conservative Party have ever figured out how so many Democrats over the years have beaten GOP and Conservative candidates in their Bay Ridge-Dyker Heights stronghold, including folks like Marty Golden and Mike Long.
That leaves us a little time to look at that wolf of a Democrat Boss in sheep's clothing --- Ari Kagan.....
Nothing in local politics can be as cynical as Ari Kagan's deal to switch parties after realizing that he had no seat of his own in the redrawn NYC Council --- and seeing that he couldn't beat "Bay Ridge Boss" Brannan in a Democrat primary..... Nothing except for that deal with the devil move to accept Kagan by a desparate GOP Council Minorty, as well as the Brooklyn GOP and Conservative Party hungry for a win against their nemesis Brannan.....
Don't look at the Lester Chang fiasco for any reason or justification, the Chang thing worked because he was a proper ethnic fit --- among his other problems, Ari Kagan is not a good ethnic fit for the 47th Council District.
Once again lookout for Kassar of the disease-ridden eyes, palsied manipulations and Faustian deals, to swoop in and snatch certain defeat from the jaws of a possible victory by real Republicans and Conservatives >>> by backing Kagan.
LaBella hangers on hoping to convince woman from Staten Island to drop out so the “pride” of Cape Cod can run without splitting the Italian vote.
ReplyDeletewhat most of your knuckle-dragging readers will never understand is that Boss Brannen isn't all much different than dear gone Boss Marty. Boss Brannen knows how to play the game. He knows which hands to grease and how to stay in power. The rest of us are just pawns in his game. I wouldn't be surprised if Marty and Brannen had secret meetings
ReplyDelete217, what about Lollapalooza Rug-hoooooza, the Brooklyn Italian Stallion in a china shop?
ReplyDeleteDid you forget all about him; or has he dropped out of the race quietly after Fox said he was for Kagan?
You anti-Brannan folks need a bigger clown car.
Ted doesn't realize that with Ranked Choice Voting there is no "splitting" votes anymore and this isn't 1989 and ethnic voting is over except for the Asians and they're all behind the cat from Cape Cod who hates Brooklyn
ReplyDeleteThere's no '107' comment; therefore no same person.
ReplyDeleteUnless things change very quickly, the Brooklyn Republican candidate for City Council for District 47 will be Councilman Ari Kagan, whose nominal opposition inside the Brooklyn GOP is fading fast, and the chances of a Republican Council primary in 47 is getting less every day.
ReplyDelete2:17 talks about splitting the Italian vote. This ain't the 70's
ReplyDeleteUPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "NOT GOING AFTER BRANNAN FOR WHAT HE SERVES UP ON A SILVER PLATTER" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTHE BROOKLYN GOP AND KASSAR CONSERVATIVES KEEP UP THEIR BASEDRUM STACCATO OF LIES ABOUT COUNCILMAN BRANNAN THAT ONLY ALLOWS BRANNAN TO HIDE HIS LEFT WING NANNY STATE "ACHIEVEMENTS" IN PLAIN SIGHT
CASES IN POINT:
UNIVERSAL CURBSIDE PICKUP OF COMPOSTING MATERIAL FOR A MORE EFFICIENT AND "SUSTAINABLE" HANDLING OF TRASH; AND
THE BRANNAN-GOUNARDES PARTNERSHIP WITH "URBAN UPBOUND" TO OFFER FREE "ASSISTANCE" IN DOING "ELIGIBLE" FOLKS' TAXES BY "IRS CERTIFIED PREPARERS" >>> SO YOUR TAXES CAN BE "FILED SAFELY AND FOR FREE"
These are the intrusive things that wolves in sheeps' clothing progressives, like Councilman Brannan, get away with all the time >>> because Kassar and his ilk would rather make stuff up so as to to make it all about "CRIME ALL THE TIME -- IF IT BLEEDS, IT LEEDS -- 'STOP THE DE-FUNDER'..."
Sure, it's harder for the GOP and Conservatives to go out and explain the solid conservative and libertarian reasons why these apparently benign things by Brannan are so intrusive and destructive --- and why such Brannan "achievements" are necessary for the enemies of a free and open society to flourish.
However, as long as the Brooklyn GOP and Conservatives keep playing Kassar's favorite tune with their base drum only band, nobody will ever know the really bad stuff that Brannan has been up to --- like touting not-for-profit vigilantes to assist Biden's 87,000 new IRS agents in collecting ever-increasing taxes from folks like you and me --- or paving the way toward more mandtory trash separation for "composting" --- with the added benefit of more efficiently feeding our growing population of rats.
MORE BACKFILL: THE "FYI" EDITION
ReplyDeleteOR >>> DOING SOME OF THE BROOKLYN GOP'S HOMEWORK FOR THEM ABOUT BRANNAN'S AND GOUNARDES' PARTNERS IN SOME VERY "LEGAL" STUFF --- THAT SOME REPUBLICANS, CONSERVATIVES AND OTHER TRADITIONAL-MINDED FOLKS MIGHT CONSIDER CRIMINAL....
"URBAN UPBOUND" >>> WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW --- THIS IS ONE REALLY WOKE OPERATION THAT RUNS A CREDIT UNION --- CONDUCTS CANNABIS INDUSTRY TUTORIALS --- AND ALSO HELPS THE GOVERNMENT COLLECT TAXES
AND THIS IS JUST SOME OF WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT THEMSELVES:
"... Fighting Inequality & Poverty in New York City... Get Involved... Urban Upbound is dedicated to breaking cycles of poverty in New York City public housing and other low-income neighborhoods...."
"...East River Development Alliance dba Urban Upbound is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt, charitable organization (Tax ID# 86-1096987) under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to Urban Upbound are tax-deductible as allowed by law...."
"... Urban Upbound, originally known as East River Development Alliance (ERDA), was co-founded in 2004 by Debra-Ellen Glickstein, a strong advocate of economic inclusion, and Bishop Mitchell Taylor, a lifelong resident of Queensbridge Houses, with the intention to develop high-quality services that address resident-identified needs. Since then, the organization has grown to serve thousands of youth and adults living in public housing and other low- and moderate-income neighborhoods annually...."
No GOP primary for city council this year. Anna Ragu and Avery will pool resources and unite another day.
ReplyDeleteEunice Dwumfours council seat opened up yesterday in Sayerville New Jersey. It's a lot closer to Manalapan.
ReplyDeleteCan you please rename this the Justin fan boy blog officially? Delete all the comments you want you’re only fooling one or two newbies for a couple of weeks. That compost bs is hilarious. ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "DIFFERENCE BETWEEN READING AND WRITING" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 12:56 PM"
YOU SEEM TO BE ABLE TO WRITE STUFF THAT IS UNDERSTANDABLE A LITTLE BIT; OR AT LEAST, IT SEEMS TO BE DECIPHERABLE TO SOME EXTENT --- HOWEVER --- THE IMPORT OF YOUR COMMENT WOULD ALSO INDICATE THAT YOU DON'T APPEAR TO BE ABLE TO READ VERY WELL.....
"... Justin fan boy blog..." --- Seriously..... We mean, "SERIOUSLY !!!"
We don't think so..... We mean, "SERIOUSLY ! WE DON'T THINK SO !!!!!"
thats a big fanny boy
ReplyDeleteAvery finally registered his campaign with the Board of Elections. It's over
ReplyDeleteNow its 2 balloons. Where does it end?
ReplyDelete1206, are two balloons twice as threatening as one?
ReplyDeleteOne might think so, unless they are not a threat at all.
Why is Anna always showing up at events outside the Brooklyn District that she says she wants to run in?
ReplyDeleteAvery had a fundraiser at Gino's last night but judging by the photos he posted it looks more like a dinner for 4.
ReplyDeleteBoss Brannan bought 3 tables at the Cathedral Club gala last night. Avery was home eating mac n cheese
