In addition to his late May, 2022 posting about being a native of Chinatown on Manhattan --- not very long before that at all, Lester Chang had said this about himself:
"... ..." (Posted on Face Book 10/14/2020 [https://www.facebook.com/LesterCforNY])
That is a very far cry from what Lester Chang has been saying lately to the press and on social media about being a lifelong Brooklynite:
Chang "... spoke out over the weekend for the first time since the Assembly launched a probe to determine whether Chang truly lived in the borough [of Brooklyn] for at least a year prior to Election Day, as, required by law.... 'It was my childhood home, I never left,” Chang said during a Saturday rally in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.... Questions were raised about whether he is eligible to represent the area [the 49AD in Brooklyn] because he voted in Manhattan in 2021. Chang conceded that he lived with his wife in Manhattan until her 2019 death, but maintains he remained a Brooklyn resident

Steven M. Sophocleous gave up his career so Lester "Chinatown" Chang could soar like an eagle. God Bless Mr. Sophocleous
ReplyDeleteToday the Daily News has story about Lester that after his wife passed away in 2019 he began relocating from Chinatown Manhattan to his childhood home in Brooklyn.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "THAT'S NOT QUITE RIGHT" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:37 AM"
YOU SEEMED TO HAVE MISSED THAT WE QUOTED FROM THE ARTICLE IN TODAY'S PRINT EDITION OF THE NY DAILY NEWS.....
Today the Daily News reported Lester >>> said <<< something like what you wrote in your comment. >>> What the Daily News did say was that ".... Chang conceded [ ] he lived with his wife in Manhattan until her 2019 death, but maintains he remained a Brooklyn resident after his wife passed away in 2019...." However, we don't see anything like this part of what you said about Chang in your comment: "... after his wife passed away in 2019 he began relocating from Chinatown Manhattan to his childhood home in Brooklyn...." Maybe, that was in some other NY Daily News article that we can't locate.
In any case, as we pointed out in our main post above, Lester Chang has said several contradictory things about where he has lived, when he's lived there, and for how long.
As Sir Walter Scott said long ago --- ""Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!".....
If the Assembly Judiciary Committee conducts an evidentiary "fact finding" hearing next week, does anybody think that GOP lawyer Ciampoli would ever let Lester testify under oath and be cross-examined by opposing counsel?
ReplyDeleteNick Chamberas is forming his city council exporatory committee next month after the New Year.
ReplyDeletewe will see this Monday morning.
ReplyDeleteNext year when ari beats justin the city council can just refuse to seat ari.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there is a perfect explanation for all of this and Theodore (Ted) Ghorra will straighten everything out
ReplyDeleteA kangaroo court is what will decide.
ReplyDeleteCNN just reported a prisoner swap Lester Chang for John Kennedy O'Hara
ReplyDeleteUPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "LATEST REPORTING OF WHAT'S INVOLVED THROUGH YESTERDAY" EDITION
ReplyDeleteLESTER CHANG'S AND HIS LAWYER'S MOST SPECIFIC CLAIMS ABOUT HIS RESIDENCY SO FAR --- AND THE VERY SUCCINCT REBUTTLE BY THE DEMOCRATS
IT'S ALL PART OF THE BROOKLYN GOP & CONSERVATIVE PARTY'S SUBURBAN WHITE LAWYER FOR CHANG'S MAKING A "KAREN-ISH" WHITE-SPLAINING WHINEY DEFENSE ABOUT WHY CHANG STOPPED LIVING IN MANHATTAN'S CHINATOWN WHILE RUNNING IN A MIXED WHITE-LATINO-ASIAN ASSEMBLY DISTRICT IN BROOKLYN
According to the most recent article on the subject in the "Brooklyn Paper":
Lester Chang said this --- "After my wife passed, I spent more and more time in my Brooklyn home.... Life required me to be there to care for my mother, who is now 95 years old. She is frail and not in good health. By November 7 of 2022, it was without question that Brooklyn was my primary residence....”
Lester Chang's Republican Party lawyer John Ciampoli is now saying this --- "There’s a rush here, in case somebody was looking for that sign of what’s going on … let’s do this quick, so the man can’t put his evidence up.... I have a small mountain of documents that Lester’s gotten to me, I haven’t even been able to look at them. This man grew up here, he lives here, he lived here at the time that’s relevant to the legal test.”
And the Democrats' spokesperson Michael Whyland, communications director for the New York State Assembly, rebutted all of it with this --- "The body has been asking Chang 'informally and now by invitation' to show that he meets the residency requirements for three weeks — and he has yet to do so.... Instead of all his inflammatory statements, accusations of racism, and mischaracterizations he should just provide proof that he meets these constitutional requirements of residing in the county for 12 months prior to the election, something that anyone should be able to do with relative ease.... It’s just that simple.”
What Chang and his lawyer have not mentioned are these facts: 1) before Lester Chang was >>> substituted as the Republican and Conservative Party Candidate for the 49th AD Assembly slot by the filing of substitution papers with the NYC BOE <<< he was specifically asked by some members of the GOP Executive Committee if he had the necessary proof that he resided in Brooklyn during the relevant periods of 2021 & 2022 [ and he was asked that more than five months ago]; and 2) if anybody had challenged Mr. Chang's Brooklyn residency in the very short time allowed for such a challenge under the Election Law --- Lester Chang would have had to prove his Brooklyn residency at the NYC BOE within a few days time [and that too was more than five months ago]. Certainly, Mr. Ciampoli knows that would have been far less time to prepare than the almost four weeks given to him by the Assembly Speaker and then the Judiciary Committee [so, Ciampoli's whining is completely "Karen-ish" white-speak for the Asian man having a dispute with what Republicans like Mr. Ciampoli and many in the Brooklyn GOP and Conservative Party consider the Black-controlled NYS Assembly].
9;22 is so clever. you should be writing material for Holt McCallany
ReplyDeleteIf Lester can prove he lives in the district why hasn't he done so already? This whole investigation could have been avoided. This leads me to believe that Lester is lying and can't prove he lives in the district and that is Ted's fault. The buck stops with Ted.
ReplyDeleteMost people lose weight when they age. Except Ciampoli.
ReplyDelete"Republican Party lawyer John Ciampoli is now" blowing smoke.
ReplyDeleteI had the chicken Ciampoli at Gino's last night. It was delicious!
ReplyDeleteNick Chamberas is taking a leave of absence from the cell phone store to run the Avery Pereira campaign. He's going national
ReplyDeleteIf that isn't some kind of joke, it sure seems like it should be.
ReplyDeleteIf a GOP candidate like Avery doesn't get a better consultant than a guy like Nick, then he'll never beat out somebody like Ari or Brian for the GOP nomination against Justin.
Isn't it nice that we can all stay friendly and on a first name basis about all this?
With opponents like these Justin is going to the Bahamas until election day
