Fox lied when he said that Brannan had cancelled his appearance at the debate --- because he must have "had something better to do".....
Brian Fox compounded that lie when he stated that the date and time had been agreed-to by Brannan --- AND --- the debate had been scheduled for "a long time"
The reality was that Brannan's campaign had only agreed to participating in the debate if proper COVID-19 protocols were to be followed for large public gatherings --- including "proof of vacination" --- and --- both the sponsor of the event and the Brian Fox for City Council campaign refused to agree to the "proof of vaccination" protocol
[Since the President and Executive Member of the Dyker Heights Civic Association is Fran Vella-Marrone, a supporter and top advisor to the Brian Fox for City Council campaign, the refusal of the campaign's and the association's agreement to the COVID-19 "proof of vaccination" protocol was proof that they were acting in concert --- and that neither intended that there actually be a debate --- even though both the Fox campaign and Dyker Civic did announce that one had been agreed to and scheduled for last night at 6:30 (or 7:00 PM) ]
Here's how Jaime Dejesus of the Brooklyn/ Bay Ridge Reporter described how it all went down:
"Democratic City Councilmember Justin Brannan will not debate his Republican challenger Brian Fox at tonight’s meeting of the Dyker Heights Civic Association.... The in-person debate was to take place at 7 p.m. at St. Philip’s Church, 1072 80th St.... Brannan said that during negotiations for the debate, his campaign requested that organizers require proof of vaccination and masks for all in attendance but the request was denied.... 'I would love the opportunity to debate my opponent, but cannot agree to do so under terms that put people’s lives at serious risk, all the more so because of my opponent’s proud and vocal opposition to the COVID vaccines,... My team and I cannot look past the fact that basic health and safety measures during a global pandemic would be ignored at this debate.'...” (See "Brannan-Fox debate canceled due to COVID-19 protocol disagreement" by Jaime Dejesus, 10-12-2021, Brooklyn Reporter/ Bay Ridge Home Reporter [https://brooklynreporter.com/2021/10/brannan-fox-debate-canceled-due-to-covid-19-protocol-disagreement/]).
On the other hand, here's what Fox posted on his campaign's social media in two separate posts on his campaign's Facebook page on Tuesday night at about 9:30 PM:
"Tonight my opponent declined an invitation to debate me, but was able to attend a Democratic club party just a few blocks away from where the debate was held. And to add insult to injury, he is maskless! ... His first priority is not his constituents but political gain...."
And this thing that was so full of mistakes, that we had to add the stuff in bracketts for it to make any sense at all: "... Although he was not there in attendance [at the debate, ] and [Brannan] just [must] have [had] better things to do, all of my fantastic supporters and community leaders were including Assamblyman Peter Abate [sic]...." (Now, let's have a show of hands --- how many people think that Democrat Assmblyman Peter Abbate is actually supporting Brian Fox ?????)
At 2:00 PM yesterday, Fox and his team posted this --- ".... Unfortunately my opponent will not be attending this evening, despite saying initially that he would...." That post accompanied dispalay artwork that contained a claim that was actually >>> subscribed by Brian Fox <<< in his own handwriting.....
Here's some of what Fox said in the display ad and/or flyer, completed by some consultant well before 2:00 PM yesterday afternoon:
These are yet other examples of Fox and his team saying just any old things --- without any thought, any content that is correct or truthful, and/or any context to help provide the true meaning of what Fox and/or his campaign should have said about whatever it is or was that they wanted to use against Brannan.
Justin is ducking debates because he defunded the police. Simple enough.
ReplyDeleteJustin is ducking debates because his polling shows him that he's way ahead in positive recognition among his own base, and that's enough for him to win. Fox needs the debates more than Brannan, so why give Fox anything that he needs?
ReplyDeleteThere was no debate last night that was good for Brannan and bad for Fox.
Brian Fox could have made all the same points about Brannan without lying, but obviously Fox and his advisors weren't smart enough to have figured out how to do it.
ReplyDeleteWhile Liam and Quaglione are going all out for Fox and therefore tied to this disastrous campaign and person, Capano made it clear he wanted no part of it..GM should give him some credit for that...it also positions him well for a comeback as Liam and Q will look very bad when Fox goes down.
ReplyDeleteHilarious for Poxy Foxy to block numerous neighbors and then claim he is making himself available to the public.
ReplyDelete9:58 is correct.
ReplyDeleteJustin is leading in the polls and on his way to becoming council speaker. Justin has no time for local debates anymore.
UPDATE: THE "FOX HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING" EDITION
ReplyDeleteWHAT'S A SMALL-TIME INDEPENDENT GOP BLOG LIKE OURS SUPPOSED TO DO WHEN THE FOX-MC CABE CAMPAIGN OPERATION JUST KEEPS GRINDING-OUT SUCH GREAT HASH ?????
WELL, LET'S LET THE LATEST FOX FB POSTING TELL ITS OWN STORY IN ITS OWN INIMITABLE WAY.....
Here's the Latest from the Fox team, as posted on the Brian Fox for City Council Facebook page:
"Brian Fox for City Council... [October 13, 2021, @ 1:00 PM]... Fresh off a lively and phenomenal town hall (it was supposed to be a debate and I truly looked forward to a debate on the issues but my scared opponent cowardly backed out last minute, knowing even he wouldn’t be able to defend his disastrous record) yesterday evening at St. Philip‘s church, I look forward to attending and speaking at the Knights of Columbus on 86th Street and 13th Avenue at 7:00PM today!... Also, the long-awaited Foxtober Fest at Schnitzel Haus is now just four days away from today! You’re not gonna want to miss this, ring a friend or family member along!... Some tickets still remain, just click the link below to secure yours! https://www.nycvotes.org/campa.../brianfox/contributions/new "
[w/ two promo ads: The first, for a Republican Alliance City Council Candidates Night at Hughes Council K of C, 13th Avenue & 86th Street, Brooklyn --- Wednesday Evening 10/13/2021 at 7:00 PM; the second, for something called "Foxtoberfest" for $50 at the Schinitzel (sic) Haus, 2-4 PM, on SUnday, October 17th 2021]
Yuh, jess gottah luv it two pizzas !!!!!
At the debate, how was Brian Fox going to explain away the "issue" of his almost nine straight years of involvement (by his own count of the uninterrupted time involved at three different investment firms) in the inner workings of those investment companies, all of whose enterprises included operations that were found to be guilty of and/or liable for so many frauds and other unlawful activities by their "principals" - "investors" - "brokers" - "investment advisors" - "equity traders" - "account executives" - and the like >>> resulting in all three of them having been shut down [two permanently, and one temporarily] from any fiduciary investing on behalf of "non-expert" clients in the general public?
ReplyDeleteAt the debate, how was Brian Fox going to explain away the "issue" of his name repeatedly coming up in rumors about forays into a Third Avenue bar-restaurant, known for its surfer vibe, and its Cabo San Lucas- and Puerto Vallarta-style cuisine. Especially, when at least one bartender there is supposed to know very well about his preferred sort of snort when he wants to tingle and jingle.
ReplyDeleteRecchia wouldn't debate Grimm.
ReplyDeleteFLASH UPDATE & INTERESTING BACKFILL: THE "MYSTERIOUSLY, BRIAN FOX HAS TURNED UP AT THE SCENE OF ANOTHER SHOOTING TONIGHT --- THIS TIME, WHILE THE POLICE WERE STILL ROPING OFF THE AREA" EDITION
ReplyDeleteWITHOUT MISSING A BEAT, BRIAN FOX STARTED LYING ABOUT THE INCIDENT SO AS TO MAKE IT RELEVANT TO HIS CAMPAIGN AGAINST COUCILMAN JUSTIN BRANNAN
FIRST, BRIAN FOX, WHO SAID IT ALL HAPPENED AT 19TH AVENUE AND 80th STREET, DESCRIBED THE AREA AS BEING IN JUSTIN BRANNAN'S NEIGHBORHOOD --- WHEN OBVIOUSLY IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN, IF IT HAPPENED AT 19th AVENUE AND 80TH STREET LIKE FOX SAID.....
THEN, BRIAN FOX ADMITED THAT HE DIDN'T REALLY KNOW VERY MUCH ABOUT TONIGHT'S SHOOTING, BUT PROMISED THAT >>> IF HE WERE ELECTED, HE WOULD STOP SHOOTINGS JUST LIKE THIS ONE.....
One more time, all of this stuff was posted on the Brian Fox for City Council Facebook page.
Again some of us might ask >>> Why does Brian Fox still not seem to know or care what the boundaries of the 43rd Council District are ??? But let's let that one go; because we've beaten that horse before.
WIthout a doubt, in this instance, Brian Fox's piece de resistance came when he said that he had no facts or details about tonight's shooting; but nonetheless, he promised that, if he were elected to the NY City Council, he would stop shootings like this one from happening.
WHAT CONFIDENCE ! WHAT COURAGE SO NEAR TO DANGER !!! WHAT A GUY !!!!!
Show of hands, who out there thinks this guy is on something --- A LOT.....
Fox is a man of action.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE " '... MAN FOR ALL SEASONS' " EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 9:45 PM"
UNLESS YOUR COMMENT WAS MADE WITH YOUR TONGUE VERY MUCH TICKLING THE INSIDE OF YOUR OWN CHEEK, WE'D HATE TO THINK BETWEEN WHAT CHEEKS IT MIGHT BE TRYING TO MAKE A TICKLE, TICKLE, TICKLE --- AND WHOSE CHEEKS THEY MIGHT BE.....
HOWEVER, AS YOU DO SEEM TO BE SOMEBODY WHO'S VERY MUCH ON THE GAME, LET'S PRETEND THAT WE COULD BE ONTO THE SAME GAME IF THE MONEY WERE RIGHT --- AND WE DO THINK YOU KNOW WHAT WE MEAN
Since you ante-ed up and opened by saying that "... Fox is a man of action...." --- we'll throw in our own ante, see your opening gambit, and raise your bit by saying, "Not only is Fox a man of action, he is more of a public minded citizen and aspiring analist of the common weal, as well as a more adept linguist, moralist, social philosopher, and lay theologian than Saint Thomas More, the previously hailed 'Man For All Seasons'.".....
AND MOREOVER (OR SHOULD THAT BE "MOVE OVER, MORE"), IF BRIAN FOX WERE TO DEFEAT JUSTIN BRANNAN, AND BE ELECTED TO THE NEW YORK CITY COUNCIL >>> BOTH THE CITY AS A WHOLE, AND PARTICULARLY THE 43RD COUNCIL DISTRICT, WOULD INSTANTLY BECOME A REAL-LIFE "UTOPIA".....
Another failed candidate by the fair haired leader Ghorra..time to go
ReplyDeleteI want a councilperson who will address real issues such as climate change. I dont care about the daily shootings.
ReplyDeleteJustin canceled the debate due to COVID. Do we need a politician whose immunity is so compromised he wont leave the house except for fundraisers?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the Wall Street Journal is writing that story about Brian Fox and his insider trading allegations?
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "NOTHING WAS 'CANCELLED' --- THE COVID PROTOCOL FOR 'PROOF OF VACCINATION' WAS NEVER AGREED TO BY FOX" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 9:09 AM"
NOBODY "CANCELLED" ANYTHING AT DYKER HEIGHTS CIVIC ON OCTOBER 12TH, BECAUSE NOTHING WAS EVER FINALLY AGREED UPON AND/OR PROPERLY SCHEDULED IN THE FIRST PLACE --- THE COVID PROTOCOL REGARDING "PROOF OF VACCINATION" WAS NEVER AGREED TO BY EITHER THE DYKER HEIGHTS CIVIC ASSOCIATION AND/OR THE BRIAN FOX FOR CITY COUNCIL CAMPAIGN CABAL
BY OPPOSING THE "PROOF OF VACCINATION" MANDATE IN LOCAL BUSINESSES, THE FOX CAMPAIGN HAD BOXED ITSELF INTO A CORNER, AND MADE THE OCTOBER 12TH DEBATE IMPOSSIBLE
SOMEBODY THOUGHT THAT THE PREMATURE AND UNAUTHORIZED ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE TIME AND PLACE OF THE DEBATE WOULD FORCE JUSTIN BRANNAN'S HAND --- IT DID NOT WORK --- BRANNAN STOOD HIS GROUND
Now, we all see Brian Fox making the hollow claim that he'll debate Brannan anywhere and anytime, and even openly offering to submit to temperature checks and masking to placate Brannan;s demands. In reality, that only restates the very same impasse that caused the proposed October 12th debate not to get off the ground in the first place.
