UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "HAIR TRIGGER REACTION" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTHE CAPITOL COMPLEX WAS BRIEFLY LOCKED DOWN EARLIER TODAY DUE TO AN EVENT OVER A MILE AWAY IN A HOMELESS COLONY UNDER I-295
It was all caused by what was initially described as an >>> external threat <<< which later was identified as an explosion and fire caused by a propane tank at what appeared to be a homeless camp.
Officials evacuated the West Front of the Capitol Monday morning [the specific site of the inauguration], with the United State’s Capitol Police (USCP) later identifying the security threat as a “small explosion,” which occurred “under the bridge on I-295 at First and F Streets SE....”
If accurately identified, I-295 is not near the Capitol Complex at First Street; in fact, it's more than a mile away and across the Anacostia River approximately due south of the Capitol. More likely, the event occurred much closer to the Capitol near where I-695 is close to the intersection of First and F Streets SE, which nonetheless is nearer to the Anacostia Naval Station and U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters than to the Capitol.
Monday’s temporary lockdown occurred as Washington, D.C. remains on edge. It's just days before President-elect Joe Biden’s scheduled inauguration. The nation's capital has already seen unprecedented levels of security. Street and bridge closures have knotted the streets in the government district; and thousands of National Guard troops have made their way into the fortified city ahead of Wednesday’s event.
II Duce Cuomo will not be attending inaugural because of threats to Albany. If Trump would just go away things will be like they were.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing "on edge" in the capital is the bird shit on window ledges.
ReplyDeleteDid Richmond fall yet? As Staten Islander Joan Baez said in the winter of '65 we were hungry yet barely alive . .
ReplyDeleteRichmond stands, it looks like the Army of Northern Virginia was garrisoned there just yesterday.
