Trump is right about not backing down to the Commission on Presidential Debates

The CPD  (Commission on Presidential Debates)  announced Thursday morning that the next scheduled (townhall style) debate would be held remotely and virtually to "protect the health and safety of all involved" after Trump's positive COVID-19 diagnosis and the subsequent White House outbreak.

President Trump told Fox Business cable news host Maria Bartiromo that "I'm not doing a virtual debate....  I'm not going to waste my time on a virtual debate...."  ---  adding that such an approach to the next debate was a "joke" and an obvious effort "to protect Biden."

President Donald Trump said Thursday he would not take part in the next presidential debate with former Vice President Joe Biden after it was changed  to a virtual format because of alleged safety concerns based upon President Trump's COVID-19 infection.

CPD Co-chairman Frank Fahrenkopf said the commission would not host a debate with Biden alone if Trump doesn’t budge.  According to Commissioner Fahrenkopf,  “No, we wouldn’t have it....  You can’t do that under the federal election laws and FEC (Federal Election Commission) rules. You’ve got to balance. You couldn’t have one person going through the debate and the other one not. That wouldn’t be a debate under the law....”

  2. You missed the ball again, Gail, the most important thing that Trump said to Bartiromo was that Kamala Harris was a 'communist' and a 'monster'. That was a big mistake; it's another wedge between Trump and suburban women; and it's another unforced error by Trump.

  3. America's favorite heavily medicated public relations professional John Quaglione was in the media tent for Pence last night Salt Lake City and he got everyone sick. Big super spreader event they said

  4. Absolutely. Why would Trump need a debate when he's crushing Biden.

  6. AN OBSERVATION: THE "KAMALA, SHOW US THOSE PEARLY WHITES !!! SOME THINK IT WAS AN 'ENDEARING SMILE' ON DISPLAY BY MS. HARRIS DURING HER DEBATE WITH MIKE PENCE" EDITION

WHEN IS A SMILE NOT A SMILE ??? WHEN IT'S AJAR.....

Kamala Harris' "endearing smile," often on display during her debate with Republican Mike Pence was really her personalized version of the same "shit eating grin" that Joe Biden rolled out during the Trump-Biden debate. Biden's version certainly seemed more benign, though seemingly out of place in the context of what was being said by President Trump during his debate with the Democrat Presidential nominee.

Senator Harris' "smile" was more sinister than --- but obviously just as insincere as --- Biden's "shit eating grin." Whenever Kamala Harris repeatedly bared her teeth at Vice President Pence, it appeared to be much closer to being a leer than a winsome grin, which I doubt was in any way Kamala's intent. It would be more likely that Kamala's toothy grin and curled lips should be interpreted properly as a vicious sneer, rather than anything resembling an "endearing smile."

  7. Many of the right wing media outlets have been reporting that President Trump is behind in most of the recent polls, both nationally and in several key battleground states. At the same time, there was some good news from the folks doing the Gallup Poll --- a clear majority, 56% of those responding to Gallup, indicated that they are "Better off" now than they were four years ago. That might not seem like much, but that was the highest positive response this close to an election for an incumbent to the question "Are you better off... compared to four years ago ?" since that question was first asked about forty years ago.

  10. Does anyone know if Bob Capano can be a columnist, GOP chair, Deputy Mayor and Councilmember at the same time concurrently?

Ther3 are no laws that prohibit Capano from serving in all those positions although I do not think he wants to. But the mere fact that many GOP leaders including ones he has had his differences with (Marty Golden, etc.) are talking to him about all this speaks volumes to his relevance.
