The Angel Guardian site nonsense shows that Whiny Ratso Vito Bruno doesn't understand conservatism or what the highest and best use of private property is all about

The whining rat local Republican-Conservative candidate for state senate wanted to impose a 100% big government solution on an archaic piece of urban blight that is not even in the 22nd State Senate District where he is running  ---  and when what Vito Bruno says that he wanted failed miserably, he shifted to blaming his opponent State Senator Andrew Gounardes for something that happened completely outside of Mr. Gounardes' district

Vito Bruno's opposition to the property owner's highest and best use of the land in question  >>>  pretty much the block bounded by 63rd & 64th Streets and 12th & 13th Avenues  <<<  is not only repulsive to any real and right-thinking libertarian and/or conservative, it is absolutely phony and hypocritical for Whiny Ratso Vito Bruno to pretend that he really wanted to oppose it at all  ---  and even more so, now that Mr. Rat's pathetic & puny opposition to any of it was summarily swept aside

In 2017,  when Whiny Ratso Vito Bruno should have been weighing-in to save the Angel Guardian buildings and site,  and he was running for an office that really had a geographical and jurisdictional link to the preservation of the buildings on that site  >>>  Whiny Ratso was literally minding his own business interests very, very nearby  --- and nary a peep about the Angel Guardian stuff.....

Yesterday, on Vito Bruno's campaign Facebook Page, Ratso was still whining about his epic fail in defending the entirety of the so-called Angel Guardian Home site on the northern fringe of Dyker Heights not far from the underused and blighted industrial lots and plots for the squatter tenant farmers alongside the ancient railroad cut for the old Bay Ridge commercial rail line.  The even though the building that housed the Angel Guardian Home was saved, other buildings on the larger site are gone or will be very shortly;  and Whiny Ratso Vito thinks that he can blame Andrew Gounardes for that, and make it stick.  In fact, the truth is that the loss of the Angel Guardian Convent building is something that more rightfully belongs at the feet of Mr. Bruno himself than at Mr. Gounardes'.

It is all made very clear if you go back to 2017.  In that year,  the probable re-development of the Angel Guardian site was already big news at the north end of Dyker Heights.  In 2017,  Vito Bruno was running as the Republican-Conservative candidate for Borough President against Eric Adams.  A 2017 article in the Brooklyn Paper clearly stated that the Brooklyn Borough President would be a key figure in determining the future use of the Angel Guardian site.....

If Vito Bruno were truly interested in that particular local issue  --- the future use and possibly obtaining landmark designation for the Angel Guardian site ---  he would have brought it up in and during that campaign for Brooklyn Borough President.  He didn't.....

The reason was that Vito was too busy with the "business" of putting together elements of and promoting a particular local event at the old  "2001 Odyssey" dance club  ---   "The 40th Anniversary of 'Saturday Night Fever' ".    Interestingly, one of the honored guests at Vito's event was none other than Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.....

Even more recently than that  ---  as recent as August 11, 2020  ---  Bruno was mum when the matter was up for public comment at a hearing in front of the Landmarks Preservation Commission,  while his opponent State Senator Gounardes formally went on the record with the LPC; and at that time, his spokesperson said to the media:  "Senator Gounardes [has] been a strong supporter of landmarking the Angel Guardian Home and has worked with the commission and local stakeholders to make it happen since his election in 2018. The designation of the landmark and the construction of a new school are both exciting developments in our communities that he’s happy to support....”

Most damning of all, however, is that Vito Bruno, who claims to be an architect from Brooklyn's Pratt Institute, never attempted to get his well-respected alma mater involved in the fight to save the all the Angel Guardian buildings  as landmarks, even though Pratt has an institutional commitment to the preservation of architecturally significant landmarks in Brooklyn.

  1. That's what happens when ya let Fran Vella act as a top Consigliere on your campaign. Fran thinks people care about this issue so she is filling Vito's head and the bozo is listening!

Somebody needs to stop Franny and fast because I think Vito can win this race if he can focus on the Bread & Butter issues like Law & Order!

Gale, must we bring up once again Gary Marrone, Paul Atanasio, Chairman Mike Long and the death of young and innocent Yan Zhen Zhao at PS 131 on Jan. 14, 1998? Why Vito is accepting advice from Fran about construction projects anyway? The only thing Fran knows how to do is toss bricks from a roof.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:13 AM"

THIS BLOG IS AN INDEPENDENT LIBERTARIAN & CONSERVATIVE PRO-REPUBLICAN OPERATION TEMPORARILY BEING RUN REMOTELY BY A LONGTIME BROOKLYN AND STATEN ISLAND FREEDOM FIGHTER FROM A SECRET REDOUBT ABOUT A THOUSAND MILES AWAY FROM THE STEAMING MESS OF NYC

THIS BLOG DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' SPONSORSHIP --- IN NEITHER HAS NOR WANTS ANY "SPONSOR"

We here at "The Brooklyn & Staten Island Independent GOP Fountainhead" don't have a dog in the Angel Guardian Home site redevelopment project fight --- and we don't have a sponsor in it either. That's because we don't have a dog, and we don't have a sponsor.....

  6. 2020 will be the best year for chairperson Kassar. Recently re-elected as state chair the election will make him one of only 3 state chairs in NY. Chairperson Kassar has made rescuing the senate from DSA leftist his # 1 issue.

A great way to begin a new decade.

  9. Frank said Angel Guardian is being landmarked. I guess the proof will be in the pudding. Either it will be landmarked, or it won't be. Either way, Vito Bruno will not win next month

  12. I think Justin moved to Long Island City to be closer to A.O.C. and her Empanadas..... I think Liam moved to Cliffside Malibu. Its a drug rehabilitation center in Malibu, California but he's telling everyone it's Air B & B...... But Bob Capano is on the job and on the streets of Brooklyn doing the hard-work to get our President another 4 Years! .... Bob organized as MASSIVE rally today on Staten Island for Nicole

  13. Justin is in Queens fighting against AOC. Capunu needs rahab more than Liam.

The mail in ballot snafu in Brooklyn was arranged to help elect Nicole, and the BOE printer needs to be investigated for fraud.

  14. Let the record reflect, the absentee ballot snafu in Brooklyn was pre-arranged to help elect Nicole because the two top election workers at the BOE are former Marty Golden operatives.

  15. Bob is on top. If Capano runs next year for city council it will change the GOP in new york city.

  16. Just looked at twitter..thank you Bob Capano for once again calling out Justin Brannan and his chief of staff Chris McCreight for their hypocrisy

  19. In between what Gale calls 'silly talk' there is profound truth in a few of the comments above. The Rochester, N.Y.-based company, Phoenix Graphics, printed up and distributed almost 100,000 bad ballot packages in Brooklyn. The Phoenix Graphics contract with the Board of Elections was made with no competitive bidding. The mistake made by Phoenix was that the bad absentee voter packages were discovered too early and arguably could be remedied. Not to worry, NYC BOE Executive Director Michael Ryan is on the case, and Nicole will still get the full benefit of the Phoenix Graphics-BOE no bid contract. After all, this is part of a contract that is much bigger than the $4.5 million deal between Phoenix Graphics and the BOE, and it involves Democrats, Republicans and Conservatives in Albany, Brooklyn and Staten Island.

  21. If Vito really cares about Angel Guardian House, he should chain himself to the building to stop the wrecking ball !

  22. Vitos point was people wanted the buildings landmarked but the developer wanted to bulldoze the buildings. Andy & fatboy got money from the developer and the buildings were bulldozed.

    Get it now?

  23. Two top officials at the BOE. You mean the idiots, Ray and Georgea, who couldnt get a job in the private sector if their lives depended on it?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Georgea is the biggest waste and everyone knows it

    ReplyDelete
  25. 1154 is correct which is why I respect Capano so much he works in the real world private sector.

    ReplyDelete
  26. If Justin really cared about the angel guardian home he would have gotten the buildings landmark status. Instead he got himself money from the developer.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Andy also got money out of angel guardian developer.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Angelgate answers the question for 2021. Bob Capano is the private sector leader owned by no special interest.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Somebody should investigate both Ray and Georgea and see what they are up to and what they got from Phoenix?

  30. Helene Klein says Angel Guardian will get land-marked. Anyone who would let Fran Vella advise their campaign strategy is destined to fail. Andy Gianaris and Boss Brannan will have the Last Laugh.
