At yesterday's press conference from the White House, President Trump told reporters that >>> “The fact is they spied on my campaign and they got caught....”
In addition, the 2020 Trump Presidential Campaign issued a statement referring to the matter as “the greatest crime in American history”
It comes down to this [so far]:
According to his attorney on the case, FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith is going to plead guilty to federal charges containing one felony count for the following ---
At the time various government agencies started investigating Donald Trump's presidential campaign, a fairly high up Trump campaign aide on foreign affairs, named Carter Page, had stated publicly that he had been a CIA source.
According to the Intelligence Community's inspector general’s report and the charging documents against FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith, Clinesmith received information from another government agency (most like the CIA) which showed Carter Page's having been carried as an “operational contact” between 2008 and 2013.
Nonetheless, when one of Clinesmith's FBI colleagues sent him an instant message as to whether Page had ever been a government source, Clinesmith responded that Page had “never been a source.” When Clinesmith was specifically asked if he had something in writing to back that up, Clinesmith allegedly altered an E-mail that he had received from the other agency. According to the charge against Clinesmith he altered the E-mail document about Carter Page by adding the words “and not a source” and then forwarded it to his FBI colleague.
According to the Federal Prosecutor's theory of the case against Kevin Clinesmith, the FBI relied on those misrepresentations in its surveillance applications and omitted the correct information about Page, even though any relationship between Page and the CIA would have been an important item to disclose in any applications for warrants to the FISA court involving the surveillance of Trump's campaign aide Carter Page.
It should be noted that the Intelligence Community's IG Report found "17 significant errors or omissions" in the FBI applications to spy on Mr Page; and this indictment and plea only involves a small part of that.....
Many commentators already have opined that Clinesmith's plea is part of a larger cooperation agreement involving others in the FBI investigation of Trump, the 2016 Trump campaign, and President Elect Donald Trump's transition following his election in 2016.
Obama did things Nixon could only dream of doing.
ReplyDeleteImagine how a Kamala Harris presidency would weaponize the U.S. Intelligence Community against her political enemies. Just ask Willie Brown her former, shall we say 'boss.' Her mind is sharp, but so are her elbows.
ReplyDeleteOK, 1157, if this is bigger than Watergate, then who's the guy or gal who's the bigger than John Dean character in the Obama-Biden crew. Susan Rice looks nice in the frame, but more likely, it'll be Comey. The only ones really bigger than than Comey are Loretta Lynch and Valerie Jarrett. Let's wait and see exactly how the wagons are circled and around whom.
ReplyDeleteBrooklyn's #1 failed political consultant will continue to attack Trump on this and defend Biden.
ReplyDeleteThe differences between this and Watergate are to much to compare. With watergate there were people who refused to go along with John Deans antics. When Dean sent a list of people to Treasury Secretary George Schultz for IRS audits Schultz said no. Nixons downfall was not saying no to John Deans idea to come up with a million dollars in hush money.
ReplyDeleteNobody said no to the Trump spying. Whats interesting is the timeline of FISA warrants. The 4 FISA warrants go well into the first 5 months of Trump administration. It stops when Comey leaves the building.
Nick Chamberas is # 1 failed consultant?

ReplyDeleteUPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "MORE BARKING DOGS EDITION" EDITION
ReplyDeleteMSNBC'S CHUCK TODD HAS WEIGHED ON THE DURHAM PROBE --- SORT OF.....
HE WONDERS WHETHER THE DURHAM INVESTIGATION IS SERIOUSLY GOING TO INVESTIGATE WIKILEAKS AND RUSSIA FOR HACKING AND DISSEMINATING HACKED INFORMATION OR IF THE PROBE IS ONLY GOING TO SEW CONFUSION BY INVESTIGATING THE INVESTIGATORS
Yesterday, I mentioned that --- "... For some reason, Obama DOJman and Managing Attorney for the Mueller probe, Andrew Weissman, has tried to insert himself between Kevin Clinesmith and U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe by asserting that Clinesmith's alteration of an E-mail was not materially "false" and thus not a crime.... What is not clear is why a key person in the Mueller probe is leaping headlong into a peripheral aspect of the Durham probe in this way at this time."
Today, it was Chuck Todd, who was engaged in a collateral attack on U.S. Attorney John Durham's investigation of the handling of the original investigation into Russian interference, including practices such as hacking and/or the use of hacked material.
Even though the charge against FBI Attorney Kevin Clinesmith and his likely agreement to plead guilty to the charge has put the story on the front burner, nobody in the mainstream media wants to deal with the actual significance of the event. Instead, there is immediate nit-picking around the edges on truly peripheral matters.
Clinesmith is not exactly a household name. This is big and its the end of the 4th branch of govt.

Nobody has "stolen" any mailboxes --- the USPS is cutting costs because it needs to cut costs ASAP. That means the new Post Master General is wisely streamlining the corporation by cutting services, lots and lots of services.
