Immediately, Biden launches partisan attacks during his first appearances outside his basement in months.....
By his recent words and deeds, Biden clearly showed that he was on the side of the rioters and against the police --- anybody that refers to "peaceful protesters" has bought into the "BIG LIE" of all this recent civil unrest --- protesters that are engaging in disruptive civil disobedience and not following lawful police instructions are in no way "peaceful protesters" --- they have no constitutional right to be in an environment where the police are attempting to restore law and order in the face of rioting, mass looting and multiple acts of arson and other mayhem
The lead of the NPR's coverage of Biden's speech at Philadelphia's City Hall yesterday went like this: "
Former Vice President Joe Biden condemned both police violence and President Trump's increasingly confrontational response to widespread unrest in a Tuesday morning speech delivered at Philadelphia City Hall...." (See " 'He Thinks Division Helps Him': Biden Condemns Trump's Protest Response" by Scott Detrow & Barbara Sprunt, 6/2/2020, NPR/ Elections [https://www.npr.org/2020/06/02/867671792/biden-to-condemn-trumps-protest-response-in-speech]).
The NPR article continued with this quote by Joe Biden:
"When peaceful protesters are dispersed by the order of the president from the doorstep of the people's house, the White House — using tear gas and flash grenades — in order to stage a photo op at a noble church, we can be forgiven for believing that the president is more interested in power than in principle.... More interested in serving the passions of his base than the needs of the people in his care. For that's what the presidency is: the duty to care — to care for all of us."
Those few words demonstrate that Biden is willfully dividing himself from President Trump and those who support the President of the United States --- dividing not uniting --- attempting to add additional wounds upon an already wounded presidency and not engaging in any healing whatsoever..... In addition, he continued to propagate a false narrative that tear gas, and various other non-lethal weapons were used to clear "peaceful protesters" from Lafayette Park prior to the President's walk across that park.
The New York Times' coverage opened with this: "In a speech in Philadelphia, Mr. Biden assailed the president’s handling of the protests over police brutality and racial justice, declaring that he had 'turned this country into a battlefield.'... Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Tuesday excoriated President Trump’s stewardship of a nation convulsed in crisis over racism and police brutality, likening Mr. Trump’s language to that of Southern racists of the 1960s while also warning Americans that 'we cannot let our rage consume us.'... 'Donald Trump has turned this country into a battlefield riven by old resentments and fresh fears,' Mr. Biden said, speaking against a backdrop of American flags at Philadelphia’s City Hall. 'Is this who we are? Is this who we want to be? Is this what we want to pass on to our children and our grandchildren? Fear, anger, finger pointing, rather than the pursuit of happiness? Incompetence and anxiety, self-absorption, selfishness?'...” (See "Joe Biden Laces Into Trump for Fanning ‘Flames of Hate’ " by Katie Glueck, 6/2/2020, New York Times/ George Floyd Protests [https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/02/us/politics/joe-biden-philadelphia-protests.html]).
The entire tenor of both the NY Times and NPR reports indicates many of the same presumptions, which apparently underlie Joe Biden's remarks and provide context to all of them. Part and parcel of all of it is the use and abuse of a term of art, not a legal term, "peaceful protesters"..... And the dissemination of false narratives concerning alleged ongoing abusive police practices with respect to the handling of such "peaceful protesters".....
Without investigating the reality of anything related to the definition of so-called "peaceful protesters" --- being a so-called "peaceful protester" does not convey any particular status or legal protection..... In fact, the refusal of "peaceful protesters" to follow lawful instructions by police or other law enforcement officials would render those non-cooperative "peaceful protesters" disorderly lawbreakers, and possibly criminal lawbreakers.
In addition, under the exigent circumstances of riot and incipient rebellion springing up throughout the land, even if there were a special category of people called "peaceful protesters" --- such "peaceful protesters" would nonetheless need to be culled by law enforcers from any mob that apparently includes rioters, arsonists, murderers, looters and other assorted seditionists --- otherwise, such "peaceful protesters" would interfere in attempts to restore proper law order by such law enforcers.
