A scandal is brewing and it involves NY Governor Andy Cuomo and the Operators of Nursing Homes in New York State

Under cover of the COVID-19 pan-scramble nursing homes in New York State were given sweeping immunity from lawsuits, except in very stringent circumstances  ---  those protections against law suits cover such clearly negligent circumstances as woeful  >>> UNDERSTAFFING <<<

Andy Cuomo did the operators of NYS nursing homes' dirty work, first by an Executive Order, and then by legislation buried in the NYS Budget Bill,  which passed most of what was in Cuomo's order into law

The very high death rates in nursing homes from the COVID-19 Coronavirus are about to blow up as a national scandal....

Governor Cuomo and his friends among the nursing home operators saw all of this coming   ---   and one of the first things that Cuomo did when they saw the pandemic coming, and who it was likely to hit the hardest, was to protect his friends in the nursing home industry,  ie. the  >>> owner-operators <<<

A recent article in the Albany Times-Union by Robert Gavin is an interesting  puff piece about Governor Cuomo's protecting caregivers and staff from suits during the emergency that completely missed the point where it came to what lawsuits against nursing homes are all about (See "Pandemic leads to 'unthinkable' in medical malpractice in NY" by Robert Gavin, 4-19-20,  Albany Times-Union/  News   [https://www.timesunion.com/news/article/Pandemic-leads-to-unthinkable-in-medical-15208926.php?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Timesunion_Capcon&stn=nf]).

Nursing home suits are aimed at the owner-operators not the staffs and caregivers.  Nursing home operators are not "Good Samaritans" at all  ---  nothing close to it.  They are emotionally detached real estate speculators,  who will cut costs at every turn, irrespective of life and death consequences,  until it's time to flip the property.  Oh !!!  And they are big political donors.....

The recent story out of New Jersey is illustrative of how bad these jokers can be.  Do to a tip, some-teen number of COVID-19 patients' bodies were found in a storage container at a New Jersey nursing home  ---  their excuse was that they were too busy to call the local coroner.  Well, well, well !!!  I'm sure there is literally some other skulduggery afoot; and that scam might be discovered sooner rather than later,  if my hunch is right.

  1. Was Andrew Cuomo in Scarface?

  2. Cuomo pulled a scam !!! The real scam is how the press just ate it up. Chaim Scheinbaum is stacking those bodies in a tool shed for a reason.

  3. Trump is making a big blunder playing nice with Andy Cuomo.

Trump is losing his touch with his real supporters; he is losing the presidency day by day.

  4. UPDATE: THE "MAN ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ACCORDING TO THE MSM 'ADMITS' THAT HE JUST DIDN'T KNOW" EDITION

TODAY GOVERNOR CUOMO SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE NEW YORK STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S INSANE POLICY OF SENDING COVID-19-POSITIVE PATIENTS BACK INTO NURSING HOMES --- OF COURSE HE PLEADED IGNORANCE --- ANYTHING ELSE WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSE FOR HIM --- WHEN IT COMES TO NURSING HOMES, ANDREW CUOMO IS COVERED IN BLOOD

While the mainstream media melts down over Georgia's governor deciding to begin reopening his state for business, they are ignoring New York's insane policy of returning infected patients to nursing homes where they will infect m0re and more of the most at risk people in our society.

BTW, the NYS Dept. of Health, aren't they supposed to be the "EXPERTS" who believe in and follow "THE SCIENCE" ???

Maybe it's OUR NYS health experts who are to blame for for the high infection and mortality rate in New York State.

  5. The Nursing Homes have taken advantage of the crisis. Soylent Green was filmed in 1973 but it was supposed to take place in 2022. It's here Gale.

  6. Carey turned out to be a pretty decent Governor. It just didn't seem that way at the time.

  8. When it comes to COVID-19, In New York if you are a nursing home patient, you are on a special death list.
Medical expert after medical expert had warned of the >>> THREAT <<< of nursing home patients inundating hospitals during the up slope of the Coronavirus pandemic. As a result, NY State put policies in place to relegate nursing home patients to a cruel class of second class citizenship.
Those policies were akin to leaving the passengers on the cruise ships in the ocean to fend for themselves until somebody could figure out what to do with them.
Now that the rest of society is beginning to get onto the down slopes with COVID-19, nursing homes as a class are beginning to spike with COVID-19 deaths in many states.
In addition, somebody in the Cuomo administration thought that sending "recovering" COVID-19 patients to nursing homes would help relieve the load at the hospitals, so that was done. That means that there will be more infection and even more deaths at the nursing homes in New York.
What possible good can come out of Trump's meeting with Cuomo, Cuomo's policies in New York State have caused the COVID-19 carnage in New York to be the biggest and worst in the country?

    ReplyDelete
  9. New York is going to pull down the country both with its spread of the virus infection and with its lingering economic hangover from the infection. THE GREAT DEPRESSION of the Twenty-first Century is coming and it will start in New York.
Trump needs to stop building the wall on the Mexican border and start building one around New York.
Donald Trump meeting with Andrew Cuomo today is the beginning of the end for Trump and the country.

  10. Here we go again down memory lane. Soylent Green & Hugh Carey comments sounds like we'll soon be hearing about John Gangemi and Vito Battista.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Everything I'm reading here is just crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Stop just STOP.

John Gangemi v. Vito Battista was one of the last great Republican Primary campaigns in Brooklyn history.

A countywide June Primary in 1973--7 months after Gangemi's squeaker loss to powerhouse Dem Congressman Carey (it spooked Carey enough to run for Governor in 74) the Gangemi-Battista battle tore through the county organization, pitting friend against friend, brother against brother.

When the dust settled, Gangemi was victorious, and won again in November to become Councilman-at-Large for Brooklyn. Battista continued to serve as an Assemblyman for another years, losing to Fred Schmidt in the Dem Watergate landslide of 74.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Like somebody said, "Here we go down memory lane...." I was still school back then; now I'm retired. Along the way, I worked with Fred Schmidt's son, many years ago at Travelers Insurance Company, where Fred Jr. was a lawyer.

    ReplyDelete
  14. John Gangemi is buried in the Green-Wood Cemetery not very far from where Boss Tweed is buried.

  16. Well the Brooklyn GOP has really sunk to new lows. The twit, Glenn Nocera (remember the Nocera tapes of his singing in his basement under the influence of something) is the only one who posts on the Brooklyn GOP official FB page.

Has Ghorra come out of the witness protection program yet? If not, does anyone know where he is living? We havent seen or heard from him in months - I mean years.

Gerry, can you let little Teddy come out to play with the rest of us? Pretty Pls?

    ReplyDelete
  17. And on the other Brooklyn GOP Page, all we have are posts from Michael Tanner, who lives in Bohemia NY and hasnt been in Brooklyn in many decades.

Are there any republicans left in Brooklyn.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Funny thing: the nursing home lobby's pet project Noach Dear kicked the bucket

    ReplyDelete
  19. Glenn who? The only reason to mention him is to make Ted look not as bad. The Brooklyn GOP died when Craig Eaton thwarted Marty and Gerry for the umpteemth time by making Arnaldo Chair and left the party in a mic drop moment. As for Ted since he loves the Conservative party so much he really should join it and openly do Fran and Gerry’s bidding and give whatever is left of the Brooklyn GOP a chance to rebuild.

  23. RESPONSE: THE "IS THAT SO ???" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 6:04 AM"

I HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH MYSELF AND WITH MY "ADMIN" ALL THE TIME..... THAT MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT BE OBVIOUS, TO YOU OR SOME/ANYBODY ELSE..... HOWEVER, I OR WE DO KEEP THOSE "CONVERSATIONS" TO MYSELF OR OUR SELVES MOST OF THE TIME, OR AS WE SAY IT ON STATEN ISLAND, "MOSTLY ALL THE TIME".....

Obviously, YOU must be a clairvoyant or some kind of mind reader. However, if you think that you see some kind of pattern of self-conversing in the comments herein above or elsewhere on this blog --- then I'm afraid that you are seeing shadows or ghosts of things that aren't there.

[I'll explain this one more time --- I do occasionally (very infrequently) post "Anonymously" --- usually, if it's a personal matter like an inside joke; occasionally, I might do it if it's something important to me and I don't think it reflects the POV of "Galewyn Massey" or this blog. (this POV is simple and straight forward --- it seeks to inform and to foster a strong and independent GOP in Brooklyn. That POV also accepts as a fact that such a goal is mostly conspiratorial, "aspirational" and Quixotic.)]

  24. Police Drones are circling looking for hot heads. Look out for a tin foil shortage.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 8:16 is 100% correct

Lets look at where the Brooklyn GOP has gone. Glenn Nocera, Diane Atkins (Ugh!), Ross Brady (a Brooklyn Conservative) and Mike Tanner (who lives upstate) are the talking heads on the Brooklyn GOP Social Media.

There is no outreach to help those afflicted with Coronavirus. In the days and weeks after 9-11, Marty and the Brooklyn GOP we out on the front lines, delivering food and plumbing supplies to ground zero, helping families who lost relatives, had an office open to help people 24/7.

This WAS the time for the Brooklyn GOP to step and help the residents of Brooklyn. But Ghorra is too afraid that his hairpiece will get the virus, so he is in hiding somewhere in Arizona in the WPP.

Rest in Peace the Brooklyn GOP. The full transition of the Cons Party takeover is now complete.

  26. 1204, 'Police Drones' we don't need no stinkin' 'Police Drones', all we need is 'snitches' on every block and in every apartment building. DeBlasio is right about this one, because there are always plenty if snitches. Everyone knows the star-belly snitches have bellies with stars and the plain-belly snitches have none upon thars. And the best part is all the snitches will snitch on each other. Because the ones with the stars will always brag, 'We're the best kind of snitches to snitch on the others and their bitches.'

REPUBLICANS MIGHT HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY HERE TO SHOW UP THE DEMS AS BEING COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT WRT CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 POLICY

The Governor's got blood on his hands here and it is indisputable (See "Andrew Cuomo’s coronavirus nursing home policy proves tragic: Goodwin" by Michael Goodwin, 4/21/20, NY Post/ Opinion [https://nypost.com/2020/04/21/cuomo-coronavirus-nursing-home-policy-proves-tragic-goodwin/]).

After saying that he didn't know about it, the governor now says it was not his job to worry about it (See "Forcing nursing homes to take coronavirus patients is just insane — and evil" NY Post Editorial Board, 4/22/20, NY Post/ Opinion/ Editorial [https://nypost.com/2020/04/22/forcing-nursing-homes-to-take-coronavirus-patients-is-just-insane-and-evil/]).

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 9:44 AM"

I SAW THAT ARTICLE --- I DIDN'T THINK THAT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE NURSING HOME FIASCO CAUSED BY CUOMO'S NYS DEPT. OF HEALTH.....

KEEP GOVERNOR COUMO'S COVID-19 FIASCOES STRAIGHT --- THEIR IMPACT IS JOINT AND SEVERAL --- AND THEIR IMPACT IS CUMULATIVE --- BUT I THINK THAT EACH SHOULD BE FOCUSED ON SEPARATELY >>> I'M INTERESTED IN WHAT LOOKS LIKE THE INTENTIONAL KILLING OF NURSING HOME PATIENTS BY PUBLIC POLICY IN NEW YORK

BTW, NURSING HOME OPERATORS HAVE AN "INSURABLE INTEREST" IN THEIR PATIENTS WHEN IT COMES TO LIFE INSURANCE >>> LOOK FOR A SCAM IN THAT --- IT HAS TO BE THERE.....

  33. I hear Alexandra posts here a lot, and many times they are very nasty, insulting and disparaging remarks.

  35. UPDATE: THE "I WAS WAITING FOR THIS !!!" EDITION

MY FRIEND TED HAMM WAS ONTO THIS BEFORE I WAS.....

According to Ted Hamm, "Corpses left in the hallway of a nursing home in East New York. A whopping 55 deaths at another facility in Cobble Hill. Dozens of fatalities at comparable locations in the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, and Staten Island.... The gruesome events have produced a spate of alarm across the city, which during the pandemic has seen over 2,100 deaths in nursing homes from COVID-19. Across the state, the total number has surpassed 3,500.... Gov. Cuomo has raked in dozens of five-figure donations from nursing home executives and their lobbyists.... Garnering much less attention was relevant legislation included in Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s austerity budget that the legislature approved earlier this month. “Tucked inside the budget bill,” as the Wall Street Journal noted, was liability protection for both hospitals and nursing homes during the pandemic. " (See "As Virus Spreads in Nursing Homes, Gov. Cuomo’s Big Donors Are Immune from Liability" by Ted Hamm, 4/23/20, The Indypendant/ Coronavirus/ New York [https://indypendent.org/2020/04/while-virus-spreads-in-nursing-homes-gov-cuomos-big-donors-are-immune-from-liability/?fbclid=IwAR1X0D4fWMIYeuyRraya3H4P3rgFBdSglAyBjUq9v4mU8IsTnfgcTOIZl4E]).

Mr, Hamm also noted this --- ".... During his three runs for governor, Cuomo also raked in dozens of five-figure donations directly from nursing home executives and their lobbyists. Many of the worst-rated facilities in the state have maintained a quite friendly relationship with Cuomo...."

Whether it's 3 in the morning or 2 in the afternoon if you're fantasizing about Nick nothing good will come of it. And if I had to guess it's not Alex but the well known Democrat who posts here.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Nick is the best thing that ever happened to the Bruno campaign. He is an honest, bright and energetic young man who works very hard for every campaign he has worked on.

The problem is that he speaks the truth and tells it like it is, and the losers like Gerry, Ted, Georgea and Ray dont like that - these losers dont want Vito to know how ruthless they are; how they will take $$ with both hands from the campaign; and that they really dont care if he wins-all they want to do is "eat"

    ReplyDelete
  60. If the loser who incessantly spews bile about Vito had any real connections in the political world they would know that several of Vito Bruno's family members have been impacted by the coronavirus and he's lost more than one close friend from the virus. The man is obviously focused on dealing with other more important issues right now.

I REALLY THINK YOUR COMMENT WAS QUITE RICH --- I THINK THIS WAS DEFINITELY THE BEST PART: "... SAVE THE TOUGH TALK BECAUSE WHETHER SOMEONE SUES THE SHIT OUT OF YOU OR JUST PLAIN OUTS YOUR WHOLE STORY TO EVERYONE YOU WON'T ACT SO TOUGH."

AH !!! IT SEEMS THAT YOU KNOW ME VERY, VERY WELL..... OR, AT LEAST YOU PRETEND TO

I'll just borrow a couple of lines from Boggie, as Sam Spade --- “I don't mind a reasonable amount of trouble....” and “I don't care what your secrets are.... You've got to convince me that you know what this is all about, that you aren't just fiddling around, hoping that it will all come out right [for you] in the end.”

Then again, we can keep it simple, STFU.

  68. 8:41 also Alex, nice try, and the best part is Nicole knows Nick writing better than most so know that wasn’t him. Instead of reposting this stuff to your Insta in a cry for attention/help, tell the fat slob friend of yours from the Grimm campaign who is the one who actually posted at 7:02 to disguise his writing a little better cuz he posts the same shit on Facebook under his actual name.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Just look at the back and forth here on this web page. It is obvious that Nicole Malliotakis can't even get all of her past supporters to support her in this congressional run. Then there is that part of the Staten Island Republican Party that never wanted Malliotakis to succeed even in the New York Assembly.

The biggest problems going forward are that Malliotakis and her main backer Jerry Kassar are very polarizing, even among conservative Republicans, and that they are openly vindictive against any perceived dissenters inside the Conservative-Republican coalition.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Kassar as all are saying here is very much involved in bklyn and my politics...Eaton on the other hand...

  78. You can all say whatever you want, and you can post fabrications, lies, etc. but the facts speak for themselves:

Eaton left in an epic fashion in 2016 and left Golden and Kassar with a lot of egg on their faces.

During Eaton's tenure the Brooklyn GOP had an office which all DL's and VC's used whenever they wanted.

During Eaton's tenure he didnt bow down to Golden and Kassar.

During Eaton's tenure he had up to 5, yes 5, elected officials in Brooklyn.

Ghorra comes in and we lost two seat we held for years and years and years.

Ghorra comes in and we havent won an election.

Ghorra comes in and there are no meetings, no clubhouse, no anything.

And, most disappointing is the fact that Kassar owns Ghorra 100%.

Those are undisputed facts. Pls challenge these facts if you can.

    ReplyDelete
  84. They won't endorse Max .. but they will time their rebuke for the exact perfect moment.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Eaton can spin it anyway it wants..bottom line is everyone knew Eaton hates Golden, Eaton says he is good friends with Cats..Cata endorsed Golden..made Eaton look bad.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Cats, like a lot of wealthy donors, has learned how to make personal donations to candidates they don't care for, or outright dislike. It's what they do behind the scenes that is so damaging to people like Marty.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Why do you idiots even talk about Marty anymore. Kassar and Ghorra allowed him to lose, after being an elected for over 20 yrs. He should move to florida like the other 70 yr olds and talk abt the good old days. He can also say that he is thankful he isnt in prison like all his other GOP electeds

    ReplyDelete
