"Marty Golden's gone, Danny Donovan's gone, the 2019 Holidays are gone --- AND --- The Party's Over...."

[Cue Nat King Cole.  No! make that "Sammy"]

The party's over
It's time to call it a day
They've burst your pretty balloon
And taken the moon away
It's time to wind up the masquerade
Just make your mind up the piper must be paid

....  The party's over
It's all over my friend....  It's all over my friend

                             --- Styne, Comden & Green

There has been a lot of happy horseshit that's been peddled by the Jerry Kassar, Fran Vella-Marrone, Marty Golden, Ted Ghorra cabal throughout 2019;  and I don't expect any changes in 2020.

The spin and coverage coming out of last month's Brooklyn GOP "Holiday Party" is a perfect example.  For some reason, John Alexander of the "Brooklyn Reporter" has just gotten around to reporting about it lately  ---  and still daring to call it "News" (See  "Brooklyn GOP host festive holiday party"  by John Alexander, 1/3/20,  The Brooklyn Reporter/ Dyker Heights/News   [https://brooklynreporter.com/2020/01/brooklyn-gop-host-festive-holiday-party/]).

First, look at the headline for the article;  then look at the first picture in the feature.....  Can anybody alive in the Brooklyn GOP tell me if they see a problem ???

Here's how John Alexander kicked off his narrative:  "The Brooklyn GOP and its Chairperson Ted Ghorra hosted a packed holiday party at Dyker Beach Golf Club on Tuesday, Dec. 17 with almost every prominent member of the party in attendance {Hmmmm !!!  Is that so ???]. It was as much a warm gathering of old friends as it was a rallying cry to regain some of the offices the party lost in 2018...."  And then, a little further on, there was this:  "....The theme of the evening was keeping President Trump in office and rebuilding the party’s standing within the district. The event brought out party leaders including Malliotakis; Staten Island GOP Chair Brendan Lantry and Vito Bruno, president of the Edmund G. Seergy Republican Club; as well as New York State Conservative Party Chair Jerry Kassar and Brooklyn Conservative Party Chair Fran Vella-Marrone....  'The Brooklyn Republican Party is very pleased to host its holiday party and to share time with our many, diverse and wonderful friends,'  [Brooklyn GOP Chairman Ted] Ghorra told this paper. 'The party is energized and excited for the year ahead, as demonstrated by the packed house. We wish all of our friends and neighbors blessed holidays and a healthy and happy new year,'  added Ghorra...."

Read the whole article by Mr. Alexander;  and then tell me how there is any hope that things might turn around for the Brooklyn GOP in 2020.

The song above,  "The Party's Over" is very sad and quite melancholy.  However, compared to the evocation of pathos and even bathos at the 2019 Brooklyn GOP Holiday Party, it almost sounds like "Happy Days Are Here Again"  or "Strike Up the Band" by comparison.

  3. The party is over unless we get serious about nominating someone who can beat Gounardes, hint it’s not anyone who’s run before. We need new blood new energy and enthusiasm, people who are doing it for the right reasons, not for some patronage jobs, a consulting fee, or making sure you get your BOE jobs on election day.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 5:30 PM"

IF SOMEBODY URINATED ON SOMEBODY'S CARPET DUE TO A DRUNKEN LOSS OF CONTROL, PHYSICALLY OR EMOTIONALLY, THAT WOULD BE A VERY BAD THING. HOWEVER, THERE ARE ONE OR MORE PEOPLE THAT MAKE COMMENTS ON THIS BLOG, WHO HAVE A VERY UNHEALTHY FIXATION ON SOMEBODY'S POSSIBLY HAVING URINATED ON SOMEBODY ELSE'S CARPET, AND THAT IS A FAR WORSE THING

Does anybody believe that the ad nauseam retelling of tired old tales concerning a real or made up moment of personal embarrassment will advance anybody's political career or rebuild any part of the Brooklyn GOP ??? If you answered anything but "Yes"; you would have missed the significance of the countless postings of comments to that effect by some sicko Brooklyn GOP wannabee or wannabees.

I believe in the necessary use of destruction to remove the old and worn-out as much as the next person, maybe even more than most. However, the reptilian repetitious poster or posters about the deposits of somebody's bodily effluents on the floor covering in the offices of an officeholder are more indicative of a desire for self-destruction than any outwardly directed animus.

On the other hand, that particular meme has become part of the fabric of the Brooklyn GOP --- sort of like the urine-stained carpeting itself --- but that fabric is tattered, smells bad and is even dangerous. It needs to be cut out and thrown out fast.

The person in the Brooklyn GOP most offended by the repeated watered carpet references needs to track down the malefactor or malefactors and do some serious attitude adjustment therapy on them, with as many followup sessions as necessary to complete the makeover.

These are the facts and they are undeniable

  12. In the 22nd State Senate District, if there is a Republican Primary, a guy that reminds everybody of Chris Farley living in a trailer down by the river will beat a guy with lots of closet space in the Velvet Underground nine times out of ten.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Umm, Liam, Capano and Quaglione all sorta remind me of Chris Farley.

    ReplyDelete
  14. So, with the right kind of campaign anyone of them could win. Just call it the Chris Farley factor in the 22nd Senate District.

    ReplyDelete
  15. You know what really doesn't fly in the 22nd Senate District is the "Velvet Rope" factor.

Here's Vito Bruno's take on what the "Velvet Rope" is all about, as reported by an out of town rag back in 1991. Basically, "... anyone from Brooklyn or Queens or Jersey or the Island, or anyone who's ordinary" is left shivering in the cold, while the right kind of people are let in. But Vito Bruno gets much more specific than that, here's a taste:

".... Your hot club has to be hard to get into. 'The whole game is, people want what they can't have,' Bruno says. The politics of the velvet rope are actually quite straightforward: The more people left shivering outside on the sidewalk, gazing longingly at the doorman or blustering vainly about how important they are, the more attractive the place is to the 1,500 or so trendies you need inside.... These will include -- in differing proportions depending on the club's identity -- artists and actors and wannabes, models and photographers, fashion industry mavens and hangers-on, art students who spend all day devising cool costumery to wear all night, musicfolk of various stripes, a few highly divine drag queens, a smattering of millionaires, people of genuine accomplishment, people of no accomplishment who look smashing, the odd celebrity, and just enough street kids to provide an edge.... What you don't want are guys wearing gold chains, girls with big hair, anyone in acid-washed denim and Nikes who isn't at least David Byrne, virtually anyone from Brooklyn or Queens or Jersey or the Island, or anyone who's ordinary. At least not at first.... Better a half-empty club than one packed with the wrong kind.... Enforcing such distinctions require the efforts of a crack unit of door personnel. 'Doormen are celebrities in their own right,' Bruno explains. 'They recognize a lot of people; they know who to let in and why.' ..."

  16. If anyone has any doubts about how shit scared the Democrats are of Vito Bruno running please read the hysterical rant posted at 9:33. Priceless!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Stick a fork in Vito as a state senate candidate. He's done with "anyone from Brooklyn... [or] anyone who's ordinary."

But the Brooklyn GOP and Brooklyn Conservatives might still want Vito Bruno to be their pinata candidate, one to break open and shower everybody with goodies.

I'm sure somebody like Justin B. or Andy G. would only have something like this to say about a Vito Bruno candidacy, "Go ahead, make my day." The only thing hysterical that you'll hear from the Democrats will be laughter.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Liam crushes Bruno and his troll supporters

    ReplyDelete
  19. 11:40 is just another Democrat terrified that the Brooklyn GOP will actually put up a fight and nominate Vito who got more votes than Andrew did last year. Their wacky attempts at opposition research already in overdrive by posting comments supposedly made by Vito over 30 years ago that even if true are just tongue in cheek remarks about running clubs in Manhattan. In any event if you have to go back 30 years to find Vito’s quotes you are already running scared.

    ReplyDelete
  20. How many of Vito Bruno's "Outlaw" clubs did REPUBLICAN PROSECUTOR AND THEN MAYOR RUDY GIULIANI shut down for a variety of serious public nuisances like, shootings, guns, drugs, sex rooms in licensed establishments serving alcohol, along with DOH inspections and surveys related to the spread of STDs?

    ReplyDelete
  21. 5:12 don't lose too much sleep over this. John Q absolutely crushed Liam in the City Council primary. It was embarrassing. Then Liam tried to use his fourth rate association with Nick Langworthy to replace Ted Ghorra as Brooklyn GOP Chair and all that accomplished was scaring everyone straight into supporting Ted. No question Vito takes the nomination if he runs, only question is can he be convinced to finally make up his mind and run.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's Liam McCabe's unless and until somebody goes out and takes it away from him.

So far, that's neither Q nor Vito, who aren't running for anything. That's because Q gives every indication that he has been placed in witness protection, and Vito keeps giving reasons why not to run.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The fact that any of you are talking about Vito Bruno, John Quaglione or Will McCabe as if any of these men are viable or winning candidates shows just how lost we are.

    The Party's over indeed.

Who says that Quags can't have a proud moment on social media?

Btw, is Jessica Proud somebody that anybody in the Brooklyn Republican Party respects, other than maybe Quags?

Like, is she a member of MENSA or something?

Forget about MENSA, how would Jessica Proud do on Vito Bruno's 'Velvet Rope' test?

    ReplyDelete
  25. My guess is that it would depend on whether she is 'Tipping the Velvet' or not.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Liam needs to get his own bed and place to live..until then the only real potential candidate is John Q..

The lawsuits are piling up and some lawyer priest Scharfenburger is pondering bankruptcy.
Well here is the big news of the week. Andy Gournardes and Senate Dems want to extend the statute on filing for and additional year to August 2021.

No need to ponder bankruptcy. 1,300 lawsuits is manageable. 2,600 lawsuits and I hear the auction starting on the steps of a shuttered OLA on 73rd street & 4th avenue.

    Atta boy Liam!

    ReplyDelete
  45. 1130 is more right than wrong about Quaglione. I didn't see nothing in what Quaglione tweeted about some 'cowardly act' that referred to any white nationalists.

Old timers would call this stunt by John Quaglione as showing that he is or has a paper asshole.

As with so much of what Quags chatters about, he talks like he knows stuff; and that as a result, he intends to do something about it. In fact, there isn't very much that John Quaglione knows very much about; and his tweet about somebody's 'interference with the values of Bay Ridge' is no exception.

If you read Quaglione's actual words in his tweet, there is no way to know who or what he is talking about. That's because he knows that the people putting up banners and leafleting in Bay Ridge are much more likely to be Republicans than Democrats, and frankly, Quags doesn't really want to offend them.

To be fair thought, maybe this Republican 'leader' has seen the light and he is ready to join with Justin Brannan, the Bay Ridge Dems and Fight Back Bay Ridge as they actually try to identify and call out this tiny handful of Patriot Fronters. Brannan and the rest were days ahead of Quaglione's 'me too' retweets about this.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Unlike Q at least Capano doesn't give in to the crazy socialists on twitter .

    ReplyDelete
  47. 603 above is spreading fake news about Liam. There is not one bit of evidence that ' Liam is holding strong and standing with the racists and the white nationalists.'

Just for the record, when it comes to who is doing what with whom, both Nicole Malliotakis and John Quaglione are publicly supporting a movement organized by Fight Back Bay Ridge with help from the Arab American Association of New York, Arab Women’s Voice, Bay Ridge for Social Justice, NYC Democratic Socialists of America, Gravesend Brooklyn Progressives, Indivisible Nation BK, Mexican-American Movement, South Brooklyn Progressive Network, South Brooklyn Progressive Resistance and Take on Hate. These two Republicans have joined in with Max Rose, Andrew Gounardes and Justin Brannan in supporting this open borders/ sanctuary city movement opposing anyone openly for Trump's Wall or espousing protections for 'American Labor' from being usurped by cheap and illegal foreign laborers.

    ReplyDelete
  48. McCabe has a Pogues vibe about him, Capano is about as exciting as your average resume, and Quaglione has no vibe and seems to need to ask, 'How is a resume different than a consome?'

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yes, 506, they are somewhat different, but actually somebody can be both at the same time. It is arguable that JQ might be one of those somebodies.

I know for a fact that Quags does very much want to be a somebody.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Quags can't be serious.

This morning he was tweeting about a stolen car on Shore Road, minutes after it was reported. Rather than communicate any useful information to help locate the missing car while it still might have been in the area, Quaglione decided it was too good an opportunity to pass up for getting a few more signatures on his petition for more cops to be assigned in Bay Ridge.

I think he'd have had a better shot at finding the stolen car!

His most recent Tweet is about spending Catholic Church and government money on low cost housing in Brownsville. That followed his recent public dalliance with Max Rose, Andrew Gounardes, Justin Brannan and Fight Back Bay Ridge over people carrying banners and posters opposing 'illegals' taking away U.S. jobs.

TO ALL THE MUDDLED THINKERS OUT THERE: "BAIL REFORM" HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH "... THE ABILITY OF COPS TO DO THEIR JOB(S)".....

Especially if one's argument on an issue is otherwise sound, it is important to properly identify and frame the issue in order to prevail.

The Democrats all the way around were sloppy on their first attempt at 'Bail Reform.' Nonetheless, they will tinker with it and get it right eventually (the way THEY want it, maybe by the third time around --- but the GOP, the NYSCP, and the PBA and related police organizations can pound salt if they think they'll have any REAL input).

Given the fact that Democrats are likely to continue controlling things in New York for quite a while, the "POLICE STATERS" generally on the GOP side are only giving the Democrats more arrows in their quiver to shoot at us by trying to convert or subvert them into Right Wing Police Staters. Just compare the Stalinist Bolshevik Commies and the Hitlerite Nazis; in that regard, they were both pretty solid POLICE STATERS.

As for Brooklyn, the photo for the GOP Executive Endorsement Event that appeared late yesterday in Kings County Politics said it all. It sure wasn't 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' or 'Land of Hope and Glory'; it was a lot more like after dinner introductions of the recently and not so recently undead at Dracula's Castle.

  92. Obviously all Nicole thinks about is Bob.

Trump's probably also kinda worried about Bob.

  93. Correction: Liam is putting up lawn signs and doing lit drops in Brooklyn. No one would trust him with strategic planning or communications.

Also, if he is were given a role in her campaign, it means he's not running for Senate.

  94. Liam ran Grimms bklyn campaign to a loss but let's not forget Saperserstein, Ulrich and his own losses..I agree the only part of nicole campaign in bklyn liam is running is putting up bbn posters and lawn signs (with frequent stops at local 'establishments")

  95. I spoke to Nicole and she just laughed when I asked if Liam is running her Brooklyn operation. She still hasn't forgiven him for supported her arch-nemesis Eric Ulrich in his failed Public Advocate race (oh yeah another losing campaign Liam involved with)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Liam looks more and more desperate for attention every day with his BS press conferences that noone covers and claims to anyone that will listen that he is leading Nicole's bklyn campaign.

  97. So is the GOP running a candidate against State Senator Andrew Gounardes this year, or not?

If so, who might that mighty and fearless avatar of all things bright and beautiful, upon whose shoulder the government shall be, and whose name shall be called 'Wonderful Counsellor.'

It's surely not looking and sounding much like Liam anymore. Maybe Quaglione, I heard it was his turn; or maybe that Vito Bruno, some say he's a 'rock star' in residence and the king of the beautiful people both AM & PM, AC & DC.

Ah, the Brooklyn GOP rising like a Phoenix from the ashes!

  98. It doesn't matter who they run. It's clear they know they can't win, or Marty would have insisted on being the nominee.

    ReplyDelete
  99. The last campaign Liam ran without outside interference was Senate Candidate Starobins stunning victory.

Quag never ran anything and is now working full time to close neighborhood parishes.

  100. Senator McCabe.

    Get used to it!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Some things are harder to get used to than others.

  102. Where is John Quaglione?

Has he been muzzled by one of his legion of bosses.

Quaglione's motto should be, "Very much bossed, but completely unbought; always willing to serve anybody at anytime to do anything."

  103. For some reason Liam did a live Facebook post of his pressed outside of Gounardes offfiem.8t was embarassing..his last presser had 5 white guys..this one had six..it was silly

    ReplyDelete
  104. I have to say Liam foolishly posted facebook live his presser...he blabbed for a minute then his 5 fellow drunk white guys spoke jibber jabberish.mvery sad..everyone should watch...at least Q can speak and put a crowd together

    ReplyDelete
  105. Liam McCabe doesn't have what it takes to be a winning candidate. He has no fundamental knowledge as to what government is supposed to do or not supposed to do. His arguments against bail reform are not merely simplistic, they are childishly so.

His recent event at the Gounardes office with the Brannan sign shows that McCabe cannot accomplish any outreach in the Bay Ridge that exists in 2020.

Anybody in the GOP running for anything in 2020 should refuse to run if McCabe is on the ticket, he is that bad and his candidacy is not defensible.

  106. Liam is a gentleman and a scholar.

  107. We can all agree John Q is a likeable man. A bit of a paunch which the mom pants are covering up but likeable. Q was not cut out for prime time. A great # 2 as long as no chance of becoming # 1.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Problem is that Liam thinks he knows everything, and there's no one to check his worst impulses, political and otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  109. 936, great! We can all agree that JQ will be the consensus choice as our GOP candidate for Vice State Senator or Vice Member of the Assembly.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Hold on, if for any reason Miss America is not able to serve, then JQ would have to step up... Uh-oh! How's this, Quags gets "Miss Congeniality."

    ReplyDelete
  111. He hasn't got the legs for it.

  112. I passed by the Liam press conference yesterday and it smelled like B.O. and cheap whiskey

  113. Night Train Express or nothing!

  114. COMMENT ABOUT A COMMENT: THE "SPIRITED SPIRITS & MORE AMBER THAN GOLDEN" EDITION

    TO THE COMMENTER ABOVE

I'm glad that you spelled it "whiskey," because there isn't really any cheap "whisky" as such; although there is some very heavily blended low end Scotch out there, somewhat watery and heavy on the neutral spirits.

The Monkey's Shoulder is very far from "low end"; it's a nice drink, a very nice drink, indeed. And for the pot-stilled Irishers, it's tough to beat the Powers, although the 2 Gingers is still at a very good price point; but with a bullet, it looks like it won't stay "cheap" forever.

  115. Most of the mutants at Liam's big press event are living on government assistance like SSDI or SSI............. Talk about irony

    ReplyDelete
  116. I blame Liam, how does he post on his Facebook the embarrassing event for all to see..if he has more than 4 people and some press I get it but it was like a last call at 4 am at salty dog

  118. Did anyone have the chance to take a look under the hood of Marty's latest campaign spending report? Marty is burning through cash with Cadillac car payments and dinners at Arirang and Ponta Vecchio. I don't think there will be any money left to give to Liam.
