The latest news --- DiMarzio's loss of control of the narrative

Big stories in the NY Post and Daily News show that the news value of the yet to be filed charges of sexual abuse against Brooklyn Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio continues unchecked  ---  and DiMarzio's attempt to spin things isn't all that convincing

According to the Post  ---  Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio's  "papal visit took an awkward turn"  ---  AND  ---  a spokesperson for the Diocese of Brooklyn mentioned the possibility of DiMarzio stepping aside while the charges are investigated

According to the News  ---  "Pope Francis stunned long-time Brooklyn Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio by mentioning the sexual abuse allegations leveled against the New York priest when the pair met last week in the Vatican"  ---  AND  ---  the article highlighted  DiMarzio's statement:  "... 'You have a right to more information on this matter, and I [DiMarzio] pledge to you continued transparency in a future column.'...”

This clearly isn't the way that DiMarzio's crisis management team wanted this to play  ---  but DiMarzio and his crew have just learned a lesson  ---  you can say what you want,  but the facts speak for themselves.

  1. Not sure what you expect when John Quaglione is the press secretary

  2. The diocese and GOP dont have much of a future in brooklyn.

  3. Quaglione did beat Liam and O'Brien to a pulp in the 2017 primary.

  4. Fake news, plain and simple, fake news!

    No pulp, no O'Brien!

Liam didn't have a real primary campaign in 2017, just a lot of micromanaging and not a lot of doing.

Q was lucky in the primary, but his luck ran out in the general.

    ReplyDelete
  5. How does John Orlando beat G O'Brien who claims to be the greatest. Of course Q was a better candidate which helps but o'Brien couldn't even keep it close.

    Here is real news
Q and Orlando destroyed liam and obrien

    ReplyDelete
  6. No, very fake news.
O'Brien was hardly even there, and his prepared materials and approach had next to no influence on Liam's campaign at any point in time.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Will John Orlando be with Q in his race against Liam for the state senate nomination in 2020?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Some people like to refer to Liam as having demons, but isn't John Quaglione also possessed by at least a pack of demons of his own?
Ask yourself does JQ actually still believe that his employment as a shill for accused child molesters in the Diocese of Brooklyn and his'voluntary' association with other Catholic Church activities locally helps him politically?
Or is it that Quags is trapped in a Faustian bargain that he made a long time ago?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Q beat Liam/Obrien once and he will do it again..

    ReplyDelete
  10. No wonder Golden and Q banished O'Brien from their campaign..2 smart men..

    ReplyDelete
  11. That explain's two of the reasons Golden lost: 1) Q was helping make decisions; and 2) O'Brien was no longer involved with Golden, like so many others of Eaton's team.

    ReplyDelete
  12. JQ made a Faustian bargain, gambled and lost
McCabe now works for Mayor de Blasio's Taxi Commission
How can either of them ever run again?
How will JQ explain his employment as a shill for accused child molesters in the Church?
How will McCabe explain his employment under Warren Wilhelm?
I wouldn't count out Bob Capano from making a comeback... the door is still open and the guy has a squeaky clean reputation

  13. 7:52 is more fake news. Marty lost because he let Gerry run his re-election campaign. Gerry was a disaster from the beginning to the end assembling a team of losers who were only in it for the money. People like Q threw up their hands in disgust weeks before election day and that’s why Marty’s election office was like a ghost town the weekend of the election.

  14. UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "BISHOPS' COVER-UP AND HARDBALL TACTICS CONTINUE" EDITION

DI MARZIO'S SO CALLED REFORMS AND CONCERN FOR SEX ABUSE VICTIMS ARE NO DIFFERENT FROM THE SYSTEMS ADOPTED BY ROMAN CATHOLIC DIOCESES ACROSS THE UNITED STATES -- A NEW ANALYSIS BY JOURNALISTIC INVESTIGATORS SHOWS HOW THOSE REFORMS ARE CONTINUING TO FAIL IN GETTING TO THE TRUTH, ACHIEVING JUSTICE OR BRINGING COMFORT AND HEALING TO THE VICTIMS

BOTTOM LINE --- CATHOLIC BISHOPS SHOULD NOT BE INVESTIGATING THEIR PRIESTS OR THEMSELVES BECAUSE OF A CLEAR CONFLICT OF INTEREST

According to a Catholic journal independent of control by the hierarchy, it is the "Secular media exposing how bishops investigative boards fail victims...."

A recent lengthy and detailed report that appeared in "Church Militant" is must reading (See "US BISHOPS FAIL AT INVESTIGATING THEMSELVES" by Rodney Pelletier, 11/22/19, CHurch Militant/ News/ US News [https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/u.s-bishops-fail-at-investigating-themselves]). In addition to the rest of the mostly AP fed article about the U.S. Bishops and their ersatz investigative boards, reporter Pelletier made specific note of Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio and what attorney Mitchell Garabedian had to say about the bishop, now in Brooklyn: "On Nov. 14 it was revealed that a New York bishop assigned by Pope Francis to investigate sex abuse cover-up in Buffalo is himself being accused of sex abuse. Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio is being accused of sexually abusing an altar boy in Jersey City, New Jersey, in the 1970s.... Church Militant contacted DiMarzio to ask if he is now disqualified from the Buffalo investigation and whether another bishop will be tasked with investigating him, but received no answer.... Boston-based sex abuse lawyer Mitchell Garabedian commented, 'The investigation of the diocese of Buffalo by Bishop DiMarzio is tainted because of these allegations," adding, "There needs to be a truly neutral investigator to determine whether Bishop Malone should resign.'..." The report then detailed various Buffalo victims' dissatisfaction with the investigations so far.

Very similar pieces appeared in the New York Times and was distributed widely by the AP (See "AP: Catholic Boards Hailed as Fix for Sex Abuse Often Fail" byline Associated Press, 11/21/19, NY Times [https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2019/11/21/us/ap-us-the-reckoning-board-failures.html]; "AP: Catholic boards hailed as fix for sex abuse often fail" by Reese Dunklin, Mitch Weiss & Matt Sedensky, 11/2/19, Associated Press [https://apnews.com/66ffb032675b4e599eb77c0875718dd4]).

  15. 839, you must be dumb as a bag of rocks or is just plain lying. Gerry O'Brien had nothing at all to do with running Marty's campaign in 2018.

Quaglione never threw up his hands in disgust at anything, because nothing disgusts him. The proof of that is his work history, as well as all of his voluntary community activity. It's just one disgusting thing after another, whether it's working and doing a variety of "volunteer" stuff for Marty Golden, shilling for Bishop DiMarzio and doing his dirty work in a variety of ways, and being a local face for March of Dimes and ALL its programs and agendas.

To be clear, are you saying that Marty Golden would have done better in 2018 if John Quaglione had run the whole campaign instead of 'JERRY' Kassar?

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I AM NOT ON THAT LIST ???

One tries so hard to be as offensive as possible; and this is what I get for my trouble --- not only ignored, but ignored here on my own blog.....

    ReplyDelete
  18. Not only would have Marty won if Q was in charge of Marty’s campaign, but Marty would have won even if the crazy lady on fifth avenue who cusses everyone out was running his campaign. The only people besides Andrew who won were Gerry’s crony consultants.

As for Bob C he should give it a rest, he has run again and again with abysmal results, another loss and he’ll be known as the male Lucreia of Southwest Brooklyn.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 209, you keep mispelling "Jerry" as "Gerry." You really must be as dumb as a bag of rocks.

Jerry Kassar is the guy with all the crony-phony consultants.

But I hear that they are starting to slip away too, or are they dividing up to be on all sides of the congressional primary?

How is it that Nicole isn't suspicious when that kind of stuff happens? Or is Jerry telling her he can't control any of that?

    ReplyDelete
  20. 8:29 If 2:09 is dumber than a bag of rocks then Nicole is dumber than the whole quarry. And you’re obviously still hoping to be allowed involvement in a meaningful way.
“G”erry “J”erry “J”ethro it doesn’t matter at all. He is the man in charge.

    ReplyDelete
  21. But, 903, I already am involved in a meaningful way.

You don't get it at all, you BOR, I'm with Gerry with a "G" not Jerry with "J", and he is in charge of whatever he wants to be.

He is the Man in the High Castle and his alternative reality is where most of us want to be, and not where the Brooklyn GOP is now, losing everything in sight.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Obrien lost with capano then McCabe..while Q beat them both in 2017.
Golden made right move sacking obrien obviously.
Q made right move going with Orlando.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Peddle your nonsense somewhere else. I know A to Z about any campaign that O'Brien worked on in Brooklyn for many years, and he never ran any campaigns for either Capano or McCabe. If you knew as much as you pretend, you'd know that working on one aspect of a campaign like mail or literature is not the same as running a campaign. It's even less when you work on only a few runs of literature or mail.

As for 'Q made right move going with Orlando', is Q the sitting City Councilman? Enough said about that, hmmmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 436 is just like the Eaton nonsense..the straw man approach..always deny, deny, but take credit when deserve none..with Obrien though there is nothing to even pretend to take credit for....maybe Liam saw writing on the wall and that's why he distanced himself from O'Brien at end

    ReplyDelete
  25. Liam McCabe continues to lead. In his column today, Jerry Kassar notes the great idea of Liam for a town hall on bike lanes...anyone hear from Capano?????????

    ReplyDelete
  26. Liam leading in somebody's column, ooh-eeh, gadzooks! Wow, who'd uh thunk it?

Liam leading in somebody's column and it's about a great idea having to do with Town Halls and bike lanes? Even if the DOW were to top 30,000 right now, and I had more money than Pat Sajak, Liam's idea would be a bigger piece of news. Why, I'm so sure of that, I'll take credit for it myself right now, and screw Pat Sajak and his money.

Let's get all of that out onto the AP and UPI wires. That sure will take Trump, Adam Schiff, Nancy Palosi and all the Dem contenders down a peg or two and out off the news. Yeah, Liam is surely in the news with something that all the people really care about. Boolah, boolah, rah, rah, rah, sis, boom, bang!

  27. Andy Gounardes sure is worried now.

  28. Didn't Eaton support Bloomberg big time and now he is a democratic candidate for President???

    ReplyDelete
  29. The local Democrats need to name streets erect statues and have celebrations honoring Marty’s old chief of staff, if not for him they never would have held any local office.

  30. O'Brien's direct mail helped elect 3 judges this year.

Anyone else on here been involved in a winning campaign lately?

    Bueller?

  32. A won a primary 545????

    ReplyDelete
  34. 1223..poor campaign mail plan

    ReplyDelete
  35. Word is that Liam micromanaged everything in that campaign, especially the mail. When you consider that Liam's job as a political operative was doing lit drops and placing lawn signs, maybe overriding a more experienced person because "I'M THE CANDIDATE" was a mistake.

Gale, you know Obrien, can you get him to clear the air?

    ReplyDelete
  36. RESPONSE: THE "CLEARING THE AIR" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 7:23 AM"

WHO I MIGHT KNOW AND/OR WHETHER CLEARING THE AIR ABOUT LIAM MC CABE'S 2017 CAMPAIGN MIGHT BE OF ANY VALUE TO GERRY O'BRIEN OR ANYBODY ELSE IS OPEN TO DEBATE --- BUT IF JERRY WANTED TO CLEAR THINGS UP, I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN GETTING AN EXCLUSIVE INSIGHT INTO WHAT REALLY HAPPENED VIS A VIS ANY MATERIAL THAT GERRY MIGHT HAVE PREPARED FOR LIAM AND HOW LIAM CHOSE TO USE IT

I think I do know what was involved, but I doubt that I am an authoritative source.....

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't think that we'll ever know whether Gerry O'Brien's so-called 'mail plan' for Liam McCabe for the 2017 Republican Primary was any good, because McCabe never used it.

Q and John Orlando were lucky that they didn't come up against O'brien in the 2017 primary, they only had to contend with the two amateurish operations for McCabe and Capano, and an almost non-existent operation for Regina-Potter.

After Q won the primary and was the GOP candidate, his and Orlando's luck ran out. Not only did Q run behind Justin Brannan, who had looked passed Q as a serious opponent, Q ran way behind Nicole Malliotakis.

Q proved how bad he is at PR 'damage control' when he tried to sell some cockamamie notion that union workers at all the polling places for 2017 General Election cost him the election against Brannan.

    ReplyDelete
  38. When Liam wins state Senate without Obrien , the facts will be clear

    ReplyDelete
  39. Q is also lucky that Brannan got cold feet about using Q's "women who have abortions are barbarians" statement at the Xaverian debate in contrast to Q's first cousin claiming "amnesia" about her newborn baby getting tossed in her trashcan.

  40. By over riding Obrien, Liam made the rave much closer than people thought it would be

    ReplyDelete
  41. Looks like Q spent his Thanksgiving on social media lamenting the downfall of morality. Probably tweeting alone in his bedroom hiding from his house guests like Marty's sister Barb Slattery.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Liam's raves are always better than anyone else's. No one raves like Liam.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Where to begin, where to begin!

Quags, Liam and Bobby C all need to find another hobby. Politics does not play to their skill sets at all.

Each of them is right about a few things. First, that the other two aren't too sharp and wear their loser statuses around their necks like albatrosses; second, it doesn't matter which is a better commute, to Albany, to Washington , D.C., or to City Hall, the other two will never have to make such a commute as the result of any election ever.

Peggy Lee made the best observation of the 2017 GOP Primary field when she asked, ".... Is that all there is?"

    ReplyDelete
  44. 1011..the same can be said for Gerry o'Brien...losses with Liam, Saperstein and Capano...although with capano no one could help him to be fair

    ReplyDelete
  45. Just saw Q tweeted that he saw cops patrolling ahpre road while getting off bus from grad school..cant believe he is still going to college but I guess you dont build much of a skill set working for one man doing one thing (won't say it as GM will delete) for your entire adult life..
