For Brooklyn and Queens Catholics ".... There is no joy in Mudville..."

Godfather Bishop Nicky Mars has a few more problems than we thought just a few hours ago.....

Everybody is entitled to a defense,  even this guy.....

I guess all those years that State Senator Marty Golden helped block all the NYS bills to allow justice for the victims of past priestly pedophilia really did earn him his sinecure from DiMarzio's Diocese of Brooklyn.....

More when I'm up for it,  but not now.....

  1. UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE " 'SPOTLIGHT' ON BISHOP DI MARZIO" EDITION

ACCORDING TO A REPORT IN "THE NATIONAL CATHOLIC REPORTER" ATTORNEY MITCHELL GARABEDIAN, WHO HAD BEEN A PERSON FEATURED IN THE AWARD WINNING MOVIE "SPOTLIGHT," LET IT BE KNOWN THAT THE ORDINARY BISHOP OF THE DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN AND QUEENS, ONE OF THE TWO IN/FOR NEW YORK CITY, WAS LIKELY TO BE SUED SOME TIME NEXT MONTH, WHEN A TWO-YEAR LOOKBACK WINDOW TAKES EFFECT IN NEW JERSEY --- THAT WINDOW WOULD ALLOW ONE OF MR. GARABEDIAN'S CLIENTS, MARK METZAK (56 Y/O/A) to BRING AN ACTION FOR DAMAGES IN NEW JERSEY AGAINST DI MARZIO FOR ACTIONS, WHICH WERE ALLEGED TO HAVE OCCURRED IN THE 1970S, WHILE METZAK WAS A STUDENT AT THE ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC SCHOOL IN JERSEY CITY, WHICH IS IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NEWARK --- THE ALLEGATIONS INCLUDE METZAK'S CLAIM THAT DI MARZIO DID NOT ACT ALONE --- A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NEWARK STATED THAT WHEN THE GARABEDIAN LETTER WAS RECEIVED, IT WAS REFERRED TO LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

ACCORDING TO THE NCR REPORT, WHEN ALL OF THIS BROKE, BISHOP DI MARZIO WAS IN ROME REPORTING TO THE POPE

The NCR article noted that "Last month, Pope Francis tapped [Bishop Nicholas] DiMarzio to investigate the church’s Buffalo Diocese, where Bishop Joseph Malone has come under fire for his handling of a burgeoning clergy abuse scandal that has roiled the diocese and prompted calls for his resignation.... [Bishop] DiMarzio [recently] completed his review of the Buffalo Diocese, known as an “apostolic visitation,” last month. At that time DiMarzio said he made three trips to the Buffalo Diocese over seven days and interviewed nearly eighty clergymen and parishioners (See "Bishop who investigated sex abuse accused of sex abuse" by Michael Rezendes (of the AP), 11/13/19, National Catholic Reporter/ Accountability/ Quick Reads [https://www.ncronline.org/news/accountability/bishop-who-investigated-sex-abuse-accused-sex-abuse]).

The Boston lawyer also chided higher ups in the Catholic hierarchy in Rome, “The investigation of the diocese of Buffalo by Bishop DiMarzio is tainted because of these allegations.... There needs to be a truly neutral investigator to determine whether Bishop Malone [of Buffalo] should resign.” Garabedian added that the investigation should be led by a law enforcement agency not by the Church.

  3. DiMarzio made three trips to Buffalo. Isn't that enough punishment?

  4. This is not a lawsuit. The attorney for the accuser is contemplating filing a lawsuit. Just like Ian Reillys lawyer.

  5. The times really had the history of Dimarzio and his brooklyn connections.

  6. Going to buffalo 3 times is harsh

  7. There is a gap in Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio's biography both on the Brooklyn Diocese's website and Wikipedia. According to both of those biographies, he was ordained in 1970, but his first listed assignment is not given until 1976.

This alleged abuse occurred in that off the record period of Father DiMarzio's early time as a priest. The omission of that particular period in DimArzio's personal history doesn't inspire any confidence in anything that might come from his side any time soon.

  9. UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "BISHOP DI MARZIO IN HIS OWN WORDS" EDITION

THIS ISN'T A CONFESSION & BISHOP DI MARZIO WASN'T SPECIFICALLY TALKING ABOUT HIMSELF OR THE PERSON MAKING THE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIM --- BUT BY DI MARZIO'S OWN CALCULATIONS, THE CHANCES ARE 95% THAT IT'S TRUE.....

Less than two months ago, Bishop DiMarzio said, "These are traumatic experiences that really do change people’s lives.... I’d say 95 percent of the cases are real, they’re not fake. I started to see it’s clear people are not lying. That’s it, this is what happened.”

  10. I have the utmost confidence in Quaglione's communication skills and public relations savvy to promptly spin this story into an exclusive with the Home Reporter that reveals DiMarzio's previously unknown relationship as mentor and advisor to a young David Berkowitz.

  11. Is DiMarzio his maiden name?

  12. Johnny Q is on the case. He;ll have the Bishop talking about his role in John Paul I's murder by the weekend.

  13. A LITTLE MORE UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "ON THE LEGAL SIDE --- AND ON THE CHURCH SIDE" EDITION

NEW JERSEY LAW TO TAKE EFFECT ON DECEMBER FIRST --- CLOSER TO HOME, IS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH CHANGING ITS TACTICS AND NOW ATTACKING THE LAWS ALLOWING LAWSUITS AGAINST IT FOR PAST PREISTLY PEDOPHILA CLAIMS AS PART OF THEIR OVERALL DEFENSE AGAINST THOSE CLAIMS --- CATHOLIC CHURCH ON LONG ISLAND ACCUSED OF MORE "GAMESMANSHIP"

The New Jersey "look back" law takes effect on December 1, 2019 and it extends the statute of limitations for filing lawsuits over certain sex-abuse claims. Among other things, the New Jersey law will provide a special two-year window for certain victims that had previously been barred from court action due to the long passage of time.

Closer to home, the Brooklyn Eagle reports that: ".... Tuesday the Diocese of Rockville Centre filed a motion to strike down New York’s recently passed Child Victims Act. According to Marsh Law Firm PLLC, which represents hundreds of abused children, the Catholic Church is claiming that the CVA’s one-year window -– the key provision that allows survivors to seek justice in court for historic child sexual abuse -– is unlawful and that all claims filed under the law should be dismissed impacting cases statewide. The firm called the motion a dramatic break from the Church’s earlier support for the bill.... 'This legal gamesmanship clearly reveals that the Church is still avoiding the truth and denying the negative impact its policies and practices had on the children entrusted to its care,' Marsh Law Firm attorney Jennifer Freeman said in a statement." 14. Mitchell Garabedian is the lawyer on the case and he ain't no Houdek. Garabedian alerted the press because of a change in NJ law on December 1st. that allows more people to join the lawsuit. The civil cases against DiMarzio are just beginning. Every newspaper in NY & NJ has the story except the Home Distorter. Instead the HR is running a story about a function held by The Guild for Exceptional Children which is really a front for the guild for exceptional real estate.
