A select committee of the Politburo of the New York State Conservative Party picks Jerry Kassar to be interim State Party Chairman

The long-time Chairman of the Brooklyn Conservative Party,  who had only recently stepped down from that post, Gerard Kassar, was selected to succeed the very long-serving State Chairman Mike Long,  a fellow Brooklynite

>>>  It was all done in Brooklyn by a select committee chaired by the out-going NYSCP Chairman Mike Long  ---  in party proceedings, which followed arcane rules that were worthy of the conclaves of some of the greater occult cabals like the Illuminati, the Templars,  P2, and the formally dissolved Soviet Politburo   <<<

Although I doubt that it had the comic highlights of the recent satirical movie, "The Death of Stalin"  ---  "The Question Begs":  will Jerry Kassar be playing Kruschev to Mike Long's Stalin ???

An upstate county Conservative Party chairman, Ralph Lorigo,  was a late dark horse challenger to Mr. Kassar's elevation to the State Chairmanship  ---  In what some think was a moment of comic relief,  Lorigo missed the boat, because he tried to take a plane instead of the train or a bus  ---  his Jet Blue flight never got off the ground

But lets forget about all that jazz  ---  Mr. Kassar should have his day  ---  he had worked very long and very hard as a staunch partisan on behalf of the Conservative Party in New York State and in Kings County,  even before he ever assumed the mantle as that party's Kings County Chairman.....   For sure, I'm not going to spring for sky-writers or marching bands to mark the event;  however, certainly, a fair-minded person like myself understands that some kind of congratulatory expressions are in order.

So  ---

CONGRATULATIONS,  JERRY !!!

Now that he is in charge at last, some think that Jerry K. is going to try to do some big things prior to having to be elected to a full term as NYS Chairman at a  formal party convention in 2020.

In these parts, we expect more of the same from Mr. Kassar in his new role.  As far as his being able to run things his way at a convention,  Mr. K has been doing that sort of stuff for a very long time  ---  at least since he was a tyro politician in his YAF days.....

  1. If the meeting of the Conservative Party was so 'select' and its operations were so 'arcane', how do know anything about it?

  2. Even though there was no real race, three names had been mentioned prior to the selection of Jerry Kassar as the New York State Conservative Party Chairman yesterday: Kassar, who was strongly opposed by some; Ralph Lorigo, the party's powerful Buffalo area chairman of Erie County; and Frank Tinari, Chairman of Suffolk County's Conservative Party.

  3. Not much of a secret politburo gathering: Long resigned, requiring the Executive Committee to fill the vacancy, hence yesterday's meeting.

And as comical as Lorrigo's plane troubles were, he was never much of a threat to Kassar: in a mailing announcing his candidacy, Lorrigo said, "Many of you don't know me..."

Aside from being Carl Paladino's local Buffalo errand boy, Lorrigo had no real record of activism in the Conservative (or any other) Party.

Kassar has his work cut out for him. Hopefully he and whoever replaces Ed Cox can work together.

  4. Maybe Gale should change the name to Brooklyn, Staten Island & Erie County blog.

  5. 7:59, please be clear. Are you implying that the Conservative Party's temporary titular plenipotentiary Kassar is only opposed by Carl Paladino?

Don't be surprised to see quite a few Conservative Party 'leaders' not listening to Jerry like they did to Mike. I'll bet on at least a few more Conservative Party primaries in 2020, especially in multi-county districts, Staten Island and Brooklyn being at the top of the list.

  6. Kassar sounds like a lot like Czar.

  7. Times are changing and Republican Conservative leaders need to change with it. No more Golden, Long, Dewey. Ulrich & McCabe are the future.

  8. I'm saying that Kassar is widely respected in the Conservative party (as well as other parties), and Lorrigo was never a serious threat. As to the future, you can't beat someone with no one.

  9. 11:51, if you are 7:59, you didn't respond to two of my main point in my remarks at '9:43', which is absolutely not when I put them on-line.

Are Lorigo and Paladino the only ones opposing Kassar's chairmanship of the party in all of New York State?

Aren't lots of Conservative Party leaders not going to listen to Kassar's dictates the way that they 'listened' to Mike Long's?

  10. I'm not 12:17 or 11:51, but one thing I do know is that Kassar has been known to talk to people and build a consensus. No criticism of Mike Long, but he was more prone to go out on his own and expect the troops to follow him. Kassar is more thoughtful.

  11. Kassar may sound like the Czar but he looks more like Grover Cleveland.

  12. Nobody who says he's a real Republican should be happy that Kassar is the Conservative Party Chairman.

2018 proved that the GOP alliance with the Conservative Party is worn out and useless. Sticking with the Conservatives is backward looking and backward thinking.

The Democrats have flourished without the Liberal Party albatross around their necks.

With the Democrats pulling left, because there is no contest for the middle, Republicans have a chance if they adopt centrist reform positions. You know, all the 'litmus test' positions that make Conservatives lose control of their sphincter muscles when any Republican mentions adopting them.

Now that Kassar has become the top Conman of the Big Con Party is the perfect time to make the break. There are Republicans (and some Conservatives too) all over the state that would love to 'payback' Kassar for his many past offenses, including plenty of his petty crap.

As far as being a 'consensus builder', Kassar is a well known conspirator that works hard at building walls around his enemies, both non-cooperating Republicans and Conservatives, and only if he has succeeded in isolating them, will he openly oppose them.

  13. Ulrich has been endorsed by Daily News and just now the Post. Liam really runs a well oiled machine.

  14. So 946 does this mean you give Liam the blame when Ulrich loses, including in brooklyn????????

  15. So glad Ulrich got all this help from Daily News and Post and all the big Republican donors pumping in so much money on commercials trying to help him. This is great because tomorrow Ulrich and Liam have no more excuses after they get embarrassed.
