Queens Republican City Councilman Eric Ulrich gets Staten Island support for his run for Public Advocate

Faces serious opposition from growing field of "Democrats" in "non-partisan" special election for short term fill-in for spot vacated by NYAG-Elect Letitia James ---   which field now includes:  Jumaane Williams,  Rafael Espinal, Melissa Mark-Viverito, Michael Blake and Ydanis Rodriquez

Ulrich also will have to contend with serious personal opposition to his candidacy from many fellow Republicans, some of whom look like they could bolt and support Curtis Sliwa or another "Anybody but Ulrich" Republican alternative

Of particular interest to this blog, Ulrich must deal with a growing NYPD-Queens DA Office scandal from his home borough & district  >>> there is fall-out all over him concerning his personal involvement with the failed attempt to railroad a Brooklyn black man with special needs for the murder of Karina Vetrano  ---  most of which has popped up like mushrooms since a Queens jury failed to convict the Brooklyn black man [and which at one point seemed near to a complete acquittal]  ---  all of this scandal is
in Ulrich's home-borough of Queens; and particular aspects of it are in and around his backyard neighborhoods of Ozone Park and Howard Beach

The Staten Island Republicans put out an E-mail announcement yesterday that they are endorsing Ulrich's very long-shot campaign to steal the Public Advocate position for a very temporary period.
Some are already saying that the S.I. GOP process and the announcement are tainted.  Near the top of the list of those unhappy with the announcement are many of those close to Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn GOP is completely fractured over supporting or not supporting Mr. U's race.

This blog had previously tied the fiasco of the Vetrano-Lewis investigation and prosecution to prospective candidate Ulrich.....   Now, that he is clear that he IS running for Public Advocate, he should be fully vetted and his personal involvement in the attempted railroading of a possibly innocent person needs to be fully explored.

There's a lot to unpack here.  More when I get it.

UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "DOUBLE REVERSE" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 11:49 PM [IN COMMENTS TO THE PRIOR POST]"

I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN BY "STATEN ISLAND GOES WITH ULRICH" --- DID YOU MEAN TO SAY THAT THE STATEN ISLAND GOP ORGANIZATION ENDORSED MR. ULRICH FOR THE "NON-PARTISAN" SPECIAL ELECTION FOR PUBLIC ADVOCATE, NOW THAT MR. ULRICH FORMALLY ANNOUNCED HIS CANDIDACY ???

HOWEVER, HERE'S SOMETHING THAT I DO KNOW --- THAT ERIC ULRICH IS MORE DEEPLY INVOLVED IN THE PUBLIC RELATIONS EFFORT TO RAILROAD BROOKLYN DEFENDANT CHANEL LEWIS FOR THE MURDER OF KARINA VETRANO THAN PREVIOUSLY DISCLOSED

IN PARTICULAR, ERIC ULRICH COOPERATED IN THE WELL-ORCHESTRATED EFFORT TO BUILD UP DETECTIVE LIEUTENANT JOHN RUSSO IN THE CITYWIDE PRESS AS A "HERO COP" AND A "ROCK STAR DETECTIVE"..... AS PART OF THAT ULRICH WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN GETTING RUSSO A CITY COUNCIL PROCLAMATION FOR HIS ROLE IN "SOLVING" THE VETRANO MURDER CASE AND TO BE QUOTED IN A DAILY NEWS PUFF PIECE ABOUT DETECTIVE LIEUTENANT RUSSO

I had earlier apologized for bringing Eric Ulrich directly into the messed up Vetrano-Lewis investigation and prosecution, and the persecution of Chanel Lewis by the drum-beat of "fake news" pre-trial publicity.

Now that it looks like Ulrich is seriously going forward as a candidate in the special election for NYC Public Advocate. As part of his vetting for that job, Ulrich needs to revisit this whole Vetrano-Lewis fiasco, and to make himself available to discuss his part in it. He especially needs to tell everybody what he [thinks he] knows about the facts of the murder case involving a whole family of his constituents, the Vetrano's.

  2. In a crowded race Ulrich can win it with staten island. The Vetrano case will come back to haunt him at next months trial.

  3. Eric is a Republican?

He seems more like a Corey Booker Democrat. Just sayin

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 9:39 AM"

WHAT TRIAL NEXT MONTH ??? THE TRIAL JUDGE ADJOURNED THE "MATTER" UNTIL JANUARY 22, 2019. THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT IT WILL BE A TRIAL..... PROBABLY, IT MEANS THAT THERE WON'T BE A TRIAL FOR SOME TIME AFTER THAT, IF EVER.....

THERE IS LIKELY TO BE A SPATE OF NEGATIVE ARTICLES ABOUT THE PROSECUTION AND THE NYPD HANDLING OF THE INVESTIGATION IN THIS CASE --- THAT WILL CHANGE HOW THE QUEENS DA APPROACHES THIS CASE ON THE SECOND GO ROUND

One of my top BSIs [actually my top BSI legal advisor on false arrest and malicious prosecution cases] has been in touch with several investigative reporters, mostly in the remaining print media, and they are reviewing lots of stuff involving the Vetrano-Lewis case. One prominent reporter is even being helped a little bit on this case by a retired NYPD Captain (You can imagine my surprise at some of his observations, but I can't tell you yet).

  5. Eric Ulrich is the last desperate hope for Brooklyn Conservative Patronage complex. Sensing there is open revolt over their GOP puppets Liam and Ted and patronage being sparse, they’ve now hooked on to Eric to help them buy some time.

  6. Gail, you moved to Staten Island. I get that your main contacts are still in Brooklyn, but you changed your blog's name to '...Brooklyn & Staten Island...'; and then there's little or no Staten Island coverage. In fact, if you have gotten on any radars lately, it's probably in Queens, due to your obsessive coverage of the Karina Vetrano and Chanel Lewis case.

    What gives?

MAYBE YOUR CRITICISM HAS SOME MERIT --- I'LL WORK ON IT ASAP

HOWEVER --- YOUR CHOICE FOR THE TIME AND PLACE TO MAKE YOUR COMMENT IS FARCICALLY IRONIC --- IF YOU LOOK AT THE TITLE/ HEADLINE OF THE INSTANT POST ABOVE, YOU WILL SEE THAT IT CLEARLY MENTIONS STATEN ISLAND

There is even a little more chit-chat about the Staten Island GOP Organization, as well as a mention of a Staten Island GOP member of the New York State Assembly.

  8. Interesting GM. Let's come right and say it. The problem with that Assemblywoman is that since being elected to Office she's had the same two obnoxious overbearing incompetents not advising her but basically telling her what to do. She gets shoved around over and over because those same two people assure the people messing with her that she won't do anything and if she tries they'll "take care of it". Seems like this time is different since Nicole is poised to back Sliwa for Public Advocate. With the SIGOP vote divided and the Brooklyn GOP probably not even supporting Ulrich, Manhattan laughing at him, he has the half of the Queens GOP which doesn't despise him. Ulrich is going no where.

  9. Malliotakis is a puppet of kassar..she will get in line and support Ulrich and tell Nick to go to hell

    ReplyDelete
  10. 3:40 sounds desperate for work.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Nick will be out of work soon..all know that except him. .Robert Morgan is the new Nicole point person in Bay Ridge..Kassar wins again

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sounds like somebody close to another theatrical nervous breakdown. Everybody knows Nick never worked for Nicole as an employee for the Assembly. Everybody knows Robert would never give up his comfy full time job in Manhattan to work part time for Nicole.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Roberts job will b3 folded into working for Nicole signaling who is in charge..watch and learn

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think some of the people posting on here are political groupies gone berserk. Who in their right mind would care about working for Malliotakis? Oh right...the same people who cared enough to stalk Bob Capano and half of the rest of the Republican politicos in Manhattan and and Brooklyn.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Kassar and Morgan win.

    Capano and Chambers lose

    ReplyDelete
  16. For real though anyone calling Kassar and Morgan winners after being largely responsible for losing a Congressman a State Senator and the most winnable open assembly seat in the state, must adore them. Can’t argue with that.

  17. UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "PRETTY MUCH FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH" EDITION

BOTH CURTIS SLIWA AND ERIC ULRICH WERE "INTERVIEWED" BY THE STATEN ISLAND GOP ON MONDAY EVENING --- AFTER SLIWA GAVE HIS USUAL "TAKE NO PRISONERS" PRESENTATION, IT LOOKED LIKE HE HAD CONVINCED A MAJORITY OF THOSE PRESENT THAT HE WOULD MAKE THE BEST CANDIDATE AS THE GOP-ENDORSED GUY IN THE "NON-PARTY" SPECIAL ELECTION; AND FAILING THAT ALL BUT PROMISING AN ALL-OUT ATTACK ON ULRICH IF HE SOMEHOW WERE TO BECOME THE CONSENSUS GOP GUY IN THE RACE

As everybody should know by now, Ulrich was approved by a majority of the Staten Island GOP micro-moguls. Sliwa did a not very slow-burn; and he has all but announced a Jihad-like Crusade or a Crusade-like Jihad against Ulrich.

For a glitzy blog report of these and other related things (See "12/11/18 — Guardian Angel Fuming After SI GOP Leaders Pick Ulrich Over Him" by Gerson Barrerro, 12/11/18, Medium.com [blog]/ "Bochinche" [https://medium.com/@bochinche/12-11-18-guardian-angel-fuming-after-si-gop-leaders-pick-ulrich-over-him-dd201116544e]).

  18. Ulrich endorsement was payback for Malliotakis backing Yost in the South Shore Primary.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It is well known that the South Shore He-Man Woman Haters Club that controls the Staten Island Republican Party has never forgiven Nicole for not having male genitalia. She may be a real prick to most people, but they can't see past her lack of one.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's obvious that 246 is a typical 2018 Republican. He has not got past his 'playing doctor' phase of sexual predation, and he is projecting his personal inadequacies onto other miserable and inadequate people. Like I said 'typical 2018 Republican'

    ReplyDelete
  21. This is about Yost and Leticia and Matt Mahoney trying to take down the GOP establishment in Staten Island. They tried their best to make Nicole endorse Grimm and weren’t successful but they got her to get involved with helping Yost which made things even worse.

    ReplyDelete
  22. This was a real bitch slap to Malliotakis..big time

    ReplyDelete
  23. The following message is a 'bitch slap' from the Staten Island Republican Committee:

"Uh! What? Um-who? Uh! Oh, maybe later; no, just forget about it, this message wasn't meant for you. Wait a minute, we aren't talking to you. And this isn't about you."

    ReplyDelete
  24. 2:46 is accurate. Crude, but accurate.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Leticia and Mahoney. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Uh! What? Um-who? Huh-Oh!
    Eh, wudsummadduhyou, wuddeeyuthinkudat?

    ReplyDelete
  27. With Leticia, Jerry, and Matt guiding Nicole she’ll be in a position to beg for a chance to run for a City Council seat in a few years.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Eric has a funny bounce when he walks. Spent a fair amount of time on his toes.

    ReplyDelete
  29. No, no, I think it's more of a float like he's got wings on his feet, not a bounce , at all.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bo Dietl plays the retard role well but Eric is the real thing.

    ReplyDelete
  31. What does Eric Ulrich think that justice in the Karina Vetrano murder case should be?

And I have a followup proposition.

Doesn't the Councilman from Southwest Queens agree that the Howard Beach Chanel Lewis fiasco makes the Staten Island Eric Garner mess look like a very routine screw up. After all, didn't NYPD police and Detective, John Russo in particular, go rogue and begin a years' long pattern of grossly violating Chanel Lewis' civil rights since Memorial Day weekend 2016 at the very latest; and that, given the $5.9 million that NYC gave the Griffin family, shouldn't Mr. Lewis's monetary damages eventually be at least twenty million dollars ($20,000,000.00).

    ReplyDelete
  32. Who does Eric Ulrich think is the 'real deal' superstar stud muffin detective, wrinkled, old Bo Deitl or the young and very fit - real life Howard Beach 'Russo on the Bay' - Det. Lieutenant John Russo?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Take a close look at the video, everything about Russo makes him look like he could be a 'ROID RAGER'.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh, oh, oh! Another followup for Eric Ulrich...
Does the Councilman that represents Howard Beach, and whose district's nearest boundary is much closer to Chanel Lewis's house than the spot of crime scene in this case is, agree that Det. Lieutenant John Russo is going to be a bigger star than Mark Fuhrman?

    ReplyDelete
  35. GM nobody is focusing on this super tenuous connection you are attempting to establish between him and the murder suspect.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Does the NYPD test for steroids?

"CONNECTION... ESTABLISH... BETWEEN HIM (DET. LIEUT. RUSSO) AND THE MURDER SUSPECT...."

Which "murder suspect" are >>> YOU <<< talking about ?????

The Vetrano murder case is very interesting that way.....

  38. Sliwa blasted Ulrich in a Kings County Politics story out today

    ReplyDelete
  39. Nicole with Eric. Lots of changes going to take place in Brooklyn.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sliwa will emerge as the only non politician in the race.

    ReplyDelete
  41. If you just say Curtis in any borough, people know it's Sliwa. C ant say same about Eric..that's the key difference in a low turnout special election ..

Name ID..Sliwa has it throughout city, Ulrich doesn't

    ReplyDelete
  42. Curtis will emerge as the non high school graduate in the race.

    ReplyDelete
  43. With 15 candidates in a non partisan race Curtis has the advantage.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Did Curtis get his GED yet?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think some of the posters on here really shouldn’t throw stones about education attained and IQ levels.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I hear the walls are crumbling around Liams push for Ulrich within the Brooklyn GOP exec committee

    ReplyDelete
  47. Malliotakis has called Ghorra to say she is not supporting Ulrich and as Brooklyn's only GOP elected her wishes should be respected

    ReplyDelete
  48. Malliotakis and Ghorra will do whatever Jerry tells them to do. Now that Golden leaving, Jerry more in charge of Brooklyn than even before. If Jerry tells them to support Eric, they’ll support him no questions asked. If Jerry tells them not to support him they won’t. They’re both loyal to Jerry and that will come out very soon. Stay tuned.
