Some things somebody needs to ask McCabe's guy Ulrich..... After all, this scandal is on his patch.....

Can you get good police work from bad cops ?  ---  OR  ---  Was this just another attempt to railroad a minority defendant involving bad NYPD detective work ???  ---  OR  ---  IS SOMETHING BIGGER GOING ON ?????

Last week,  a case against a problematic defendant in a Howard Beach murder case was bounced by a Queens Judge  ---  because the case, supposedly  “broke by a hero cop,”  actually stunk to high heaven and the jury couldn’t get itself together enough to convict or acquit

So,  what does the local City Councilman for Howard Beach and surrounding neighborhoods have to say about that ?????

This blog has jumped on bad prosecutions for years  ---  usually focusing on the dirty prosecutors, people like Marty Golden-Mike Long buddy Charles Hynes  ---  this time it looks like the weak link is a pretty high up NYPD detective,  who many including the Mayor of the City of New York have called a “hero cop”…..  Strangely, on this case, this "Fearless Fosdick" did all his detecting as a free-lancer and off-the-books  ---  and for fun and profit,  he helped round-up one of them "likely suspects"

THE KARINA VETRANO CASE IS SPECIAL  ---  BECAUSE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS ESPECIALLY BAD.....

The man up to now charged with this murder is a black guy named Chanel Lewis;  and you are almost as likely to have killed Karina Vetrano as he is.

Last week a Queens Judge granted a defense motion for a mistrial after the jury in the case against Chanel Lewis said they were deadlocked after only a couple of days of deliberation.  The judge's actions at this stage of proceedings was unusual and he seemed to be sending somebody a message. he didn't even formally instruct the jury to try harder to reach a verdict.....  Many court watchers were surprised, some were even shocked.  The New York Post was especially NOT AMUSED;  but, this time,  they have it all wrong.

The real villain in the piece isn't Chanel Lewis,  it is an Detective Lieutenant  named  John Russo.....
Now, he is an interesting character, and he has some obvious reasons for taking a special off-the-books interest i this case  ---  however, I think that the real nefarious stuff might not be nearly so obvious.  (I will leave the things about Det. Lt. Russo remain at the teaser level for now.....  I've done teasers like this before, so you know something bigger and more substantial is coming.....)

THIS POST IS BEING PUBLISHED AT THIS TIME BECAUSE OF ERIC ULRICH'S APPEARANCE IN OUR PART OF THE WORLD

The reason for this blog posting at this time is to alert somebody to ask Liam  McCabe's friend Mr. Eric what he thinks about this case and all of the stuff surrounding it.  After all isn't he talking about being a "Public Advocate"  ---  well, let's see how he intends to advocate about the murder of Karina Vetrano.  He should know all about it and have lots of opinions  ---  in fact, we already know that he did quite some time ago.....

When Chanel Lewis was first arrested, it's clear that Eric wanted to rush to judgment.  According to a print report by "QNS.COM":   "....   'With the arrest of Chanel Lewis, a suspect in custody in connection with the gruesome murder of Karina Vetrano, hopefully the Vetrano family can begin to have closure and the entire community can breath a sigh of relief,'  Councilman Eric Ulrich said. 'I commend the NYPD officers who worked the case and the office of the Queens District Attorney for their tireless efforts identifying and arresting this individual. Justice will be served.'...”   ( See,  " 'He’s a demon!’ Reaction to arrest in Karina Vetrano case ranges from vengeful to relieved"  by Robert Pozarycki,  2/6/17,  QNS.com   [https://qns.com/story/2017/02/06/hes-demon-reaction-arrest-karina-vetrano-case-ranges-vengeful-relieved/]).

Eric have you thought about this case since the mistrial ?   And what do you think ???

  1. I hear there will be a couple of tough questions for Ulrich at Liam forum..let's just hope more than 10 people show up

  2. "Justice will be served" says the idiot boy-man Ulrich.

Not in Queens. It's the dirtiest DA's office in Amerika.

  3. Lt Russo is a hero. He volunteered to work on this case while off duty.

    No reward in that.

    ReplyDelete
  4. 457, I don't think YOU know the difference between a 'hero' and a 'hero sandwich'.

FYI, there actually can be a 'REWARD' for a 'superstar'cop like John R by working as a 'volunteer' while 'off duty.' It could turn out to be quite a big 'REWARD' at that.

BTW, didn't Marty Golden like to refer to himself as a 'hero cop.' There seems to be an awful lot of that 'hero' thing going around for an awful lot of cops over a long time.

  5. What about the naked man found at the scene? What happened to him? Didn't he say he was a witness and said a white man did it?

  6. From what I’ve read in the papers, the defendant’s DNA was found underneath the victim’s fingernails among other places. Pretty hard to “plant” DNA underneath fingernails. If the news reports are accurate then it sounds like another idiot jury. As for Ulrich he’s already forcing most of his staff to show up with people to the event so that it doesn’t look empty.

  7. Let me get this straight, Liam is having a meeting wed with one Public Advocate Candidate, Eric Ulrich, that is despised by Brooklyn's only GOP elected official, alienating many and will have a empty crowd and Capano is holding a forum with over a dozen candidates for Public Advocate (virtually the whole field) and us expecting major press...
Seems clear who is on top

  8. RESPONSE: THE "VERY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS A VERY DANGEROUS THING" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 5:38 AM"

ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? THE INVESTIGATION OF THIS CASE HAS THE STENCH OF H2SO4 ALL OVER IT --- AND IT GOES VERY HIGH UP AT 1 PP --- OR --- "WHERE THE BOYCE ARE" --- SO PLANTING A LITTLE POLICE-GATHERED DNA HERE AND THERE, PUH-LEEEZ (NOTE: NOT "PUH-LEEES")!!!!!

Let's not go there about 'plant(ing)' DNA just yet; we'll get to those very possible scenarios in due course. Also, you're way off base calling this an "idiot jury"; because it looks like the trial judge also doesn't buy into what the "hero cop" and the police-gathered DNA had to say about this defendant.

I absolutely don't buy into it (and I sort of know my way around evidence, NYS courtrooms and NYPD detectives)..... If you aren't suspicious of Det. Lieut. Russo now, you should be after reading just one puff-piece about him in the NY Post from February 2017 (See "Dogged cop kept working slain jogger case until he cracked it" by Larry Celona, Jamie Schram, Khristina Narizhnaya & Bruce Golding, 2/6/17, NY Post Metro [https://nypost.com/2017/02/06/dogged-cop-was-key-to-cracking-slain-jogger-case/]). This article is a virtual Rosetta Stone, mostly about how and even a little bit of why John Russo would go about framing Chanel Lewis..... Mostly, Russo should be hoist on the petard of his own timeline. This article makes clear that he had a big throbbing hard-on for Chanel Lewis from before the murder of Karina Vetrano --- but the article is also a tip-off on so much more about the man, who the NYPD Chief of Ds called a "...'key player' in identifying Chanel Lewis as the prime suspect...."

OMG, I am getting way forward on my skis --- this stuff will all be coming out on this blog soon enough, unless people like the NYT's Jim Dwyer beat me to the punch.

  9. 6:07 it’s important to note that Brooklyn’s only GOP elected official represents a small part while the large part of her district is on Staten Island. Yes she despises and is is despised by Eric Ulrich but unlike him she is controlled by Jerry and Leticia. If they tell her to go to Eric’s event and bring people with her, her only question will be how many people.

  10. Nicole and her troll Chamberas d ont have a half of spine between them

    ReplyDelete
  11. 7:10 DNA of the defendant couldn’t have innocently landed underneath fingernails of victim. It’s that simple. The rest is noise.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 7:16 to be fair clearly they have more of a spine than you. Aside from not needing to insult people anonymously and online, when Ulrich went after Malliotakis on Twitter, Chambers was the only one who wasn’t afraid to respond.

  13. I guess a small detail like the reform party getting wiped off the ballot wont stop bob from meeting in pizza places on 86th street

  14. Capano wins again..almost every Public Advocate Candidate attending and at least 3 TV stations plus local press
    Wow!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I guess now that Marty isn’t running and they’ve already worn out their welcome in Manhattan and Queens the Upper East Siders will have to shlep to Staten Island. Bob still works for a billionaire and is bringing almost all the Public Advocate candidates to Brooklyn.

  16. I just got back from getting a few prescriptions and checked this blog as i do everyday at noon. This posting made me choke on my adderol. I thought the DNA was a match?

  18. RESPONSE: THE "WELL, GRASSHOPPER, YOU HAVE STUMBLED ONTO A TRUTH" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 7:22 AM"

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU THAT "... DNA OF THE DEFENDANT COULDN'T HAVE INNOCENTLY LANDED UNDERNEATH [THE] FINGERNAILS OF [THE] VICTIM..." --- I COMPLETELY DISAGREE THAT ONLY "THE REST IS NOISE" --- SIMPLY BECAUSE, WHEN IT COMES TO CHANEL LEWIS, IT'S ALL NOISE AND DET. LIEUT. JOHN RUSSO MADE MOST OF THAT NOISE.....

This kind of DNA "evidence," given its tortured provenance shouldn't have made its way into any courtroom in New York State. Also oddly, the defendant's alleged "confession" doesn't jibe with how Karina Vetrano actually died.

    ReplyDelete
  19. There was no DNA 'match'..... The DNA taken from the defendant fit a DNA 'profile' consistent with DNA samples taken from the deceased and the crime scene; however, there was no 'match,' as that term is commonly used.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 10:52 yea “consistent” to the point we are scientifically certain that his DNA was underneath the victim’s fingernails. Grasping at straws here.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Malliotakis doing a drug awareness forum the same day and time as Liams Verrazano Rep Club event with Eric Ulrich.

Do we need any more proof that Liam crossed the only bklyn GOP elected official...

    ReplyDelete
  22. 11:51, was there any testimony by the prosecution's DNA expert that says what you are saying? I don't think so --- her best DNA profile comparison was from an object found in Spring Creek Park a good distance away from where the body of Karina Vetrano was found by her father. The jury specifically asked to look at the "DNA evidence" during their deliberations.
Always remember, the NYPD detectives had Chanel Lewis's DNA available to them before it ever was 'compared' by the prosecution's DNA expert with samples, which were also submitted by the police.

    ReplyDelete
  23. There were lots of legal problems with the case against Chanel Lewis, and the trial ADA had to withdraw nine of the thirteen original counts in the the indictment of Mr. Lewis; and the jury and the judge did the rest on their own.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am going wed and will ask Ulrich about this as well as why he didn't support Malliotakis for Mayor an d why he voted for Melissa Mark Viverito for Speaker

    ReplyDelete
  25. The police did not follow all the evidence in this case, because they were set to railroad a young black man who had physical disabilities and difficulty communicating.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Why not tell the story this way, two Howard Beach vigilantes go out and find almost all the evidence in a case that NYPD detectives couldn't solve in over six months of trying.

    ReplyDelete
  27. What are you people blathering about? The DNA profile of the accused was found underneath the fingernails of the victim (sign of struggle), on her neck, and on her cell phone. Seriously too many conspiracy theories abound. It’s a slam dunk case especially if Ron Kuby thinks so.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 350, 'slam dunk'! You've got to be 'slam drunk'! So Kuby is now more important than a judge and jury?
You aren't correctly describing what was actually found 'underneath the fingernails' of Karina Vetrano. It was evidence of mixed DNA, which is absolutely to be expected in a case like this.
Let's get real about this. Take the DNA technicians out of this, the cops had the defendant's DNA in their possession before any tests were performed and they needed for there to be a DNA match. Cops being cops and doing what they need to do is not a conspiracy theory, it's a fact of life.
The defense's opening went through many, but not all, of the reasons that the DNA evidence in this case should be treated as suspect, and they cross-examined the DNA expert enough to raise reasonable doubt about the DNA. Even the prosecutors wanted an escape hatch, so they argued that the DNA evidence wasn't necessary to convict Chanel Lewis.
During deliberations, the jurors asked for the DNA evidence in the jury room, and a read-back of 74 pages of testimony by the prosecution's DNA expert Linda Razzano, so they looked at the DNA stuff closely.
There's a good chance this case completely blows up before any attempt at a re-trial.

  29. What happened to the $500,000 in the go fund Me account?

Lt. Russo seems to have everything figured out.

    ReplyDelete
  30. His DNA is on her neck, cellphone, and underneath her fingernails, if there was planted DNA the profile wouldn’t be strong but it is. What do you think you do just pick DNA with tweezers and plant it? Get real.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 619, you just keep squirming and trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
First, the expert testimony was that the mixed DNA under Karina Vetrano's fingernails had a 'high probability' of containing some of the defendant's DNA based on statistics that are not universally accepted by DNA 'experts'; second, Karina Vetrano's body was long before destroyed by cremation by the time Chanel Lewis was even deemed to be a suspect by Det. Lieut. Russo, so any DNA comparisons would have been either with allegedly preserved samples or possibly even graphic representations of previously mapped DNA samples (remember, allegedly several hundred comparisons had already been made with no matches); and as for 'planting' any of the DNA, it only has to be 'planted' on a slide or in a test tube marked, 'victim's fingernails,' '... back' or '... cellphone.' Of course, there's also the possibility that no tests were actually performed, and everything in the testimony and reports is completely ersatz.

  32. 8:30 make a long argument that amounts to not much accept someone who can’t accept the truth. Here is an excerpt about that DNA evidence some of these posters are desperate trying to call into question. “Linda Razzano, a deputy manager of the forensic biology lab in the city medical examiner's office told the jury hearing the murder case against Lewis that the defendant’s unique genetic profile, secured when he voluntarily submitted a DNA sample to police, made the chances 1:6 trillion that someone else shared the same profile.
Under questioning by Assistant District Attorney Brad Leventhal, Razzano, who said she had testified in thousands of cases, likened the probability of another random match similar to Lewis as requiring “940 Earth populations” to find another identical comparison.” Regarding this case some of you should try coming back to Earth as well.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Two NYS Troopers each did 10 years in prison for lifting a suspects fingerprint off of a beer can and putting the fingerprint at crime scene.

    ReplyDelete
  34. DNA material is not like lifting fingerprints. 1:6 Trillion match is not something that was planted. I’m starting to wonder if maybe some of the “geniuses” posting on here were members of the jury.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 834, you must be a very religious person, because you have a religious belief in the truth of the testimony of Linda Razzano. The fact is that you have no factual basis to believe any of what you are saying; like me you have read a few news reports, that's it. You don't know if her testimony had the ring of truth or seemed like a tissue of lies, but the jury did. They looked at her testimony and evidence very closely and they could not convict Chanel Lewis. The judge was also certain that the jury would not convict based on what was presented at trial, so he ordered a mistrial; which is one step closer to letting him go free.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 857, you are neither thoughtful nor discerning. A '1:6 trillion match'; really, you believe that?
I have a high degree of certainty that there is no reliable scientific or statistical data to back up such a wild testimonial assertion by the prosecution's 'expert' witness or the use of it by the prosecutor in his summation. I'm sure that the judge instructed the jury that they could completely reject Razzano's testimony if they chose to do so.
FYI, real DNA scientists have repeatedly stated that the forensic use of DNA data in civil and criminal cases abuses the scientific data to reach both simple and outrageously wild conclusions.
BTW, testifying that something is 'not random' does not establish any reasonable cause and effect.

  37. I read about that Lt Russo. Did all this ace detective work while off duty. Being off duty gets Russo the 500k. Its not the first time cops & DA pulled framed someone in Howard Beach.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Shame on the dullards who come on here to post their conspiratorial fantasies when they don’t understand DNA evidence at all. DNA evidence is reviewable you just can’t make up numbers. And with current amplification techniques, a sample once deemed worthless a few years ago can now yield enormous amounts of genetic information. This is a criminal trial not political spin. The bottom line is that the defendant’s genetic material was found undeneath the victim’s fingernails—that alone is enough for a conviction. It was also found on her neck and since she was strangled, there’s another big piece of the puzzle for you. Also on her cell phone. You can’t make up DNA evidence, you also can’t take microscopic cells and plant them to frame someone. Enough bs.

  41. I think Marty should throw his hat in the ring for Public Advocate! WE cannot support a candidate like Ulrich who does not stand with the President.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I hear the pressure is so intense on Liam for having Ulrich that he considered cancellimf4..after all, how do you go against your only remaining borough Republican elected as Liam has done with Malliotakis

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nice try, Bob, but Liam robo-called last night asking everybody to attend the meeting tonight at the 13th Avenue K of C, to hear Ulrich, a possible Public Advocate Candidate. I heard your pizza parlour Public Advocate thing fell flat. Splat!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I wonder if the robo call also told everyone the nasty things Eric Ulrich has publicly said about Nicole Malliotakis, I’m guessing not. The winner in all this is actually John Q. This looks really bad for Liam no matter how hard he and Jerry spin it, they are brining Ulrich to Nicole’s backyard which shows they have no regard or respect for her and they both know that Nicole is privately furious. If this is what they do to a friend why would anyone put their neck out for them?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I hope someone asks Liam and Ulrich how they can justify Ulrich breaking from other GOP Council members in 2013 to vote for socialist Melissa Mark Viverito? Any one who is against Mark Viverito and with Malliotakis doesn't support Ulrich
