In business and life, Marty Golden's personal bailiwick always has been Bay Ridge, Brooklyn* --- Marty Golden's politics completely reflects that, even now that Bay Ridge has completely changed from what it was when he was first elected to the City Council almost a whole generation ago
The State Senator's version of the Kings County Republican Party Organization (you know, the one that calls Ted Ghorra its "Chairman") reflects this Golden-Bay Ridge-centric view of Brooklyn and the world
Now, and for what almost seems like forever, Republicans all around New York State and the nation have looked at Kings County as the insurmountable sheer front face of an inaccessible Democrat promentory fortress called New York State --- that is because of a local GOP "establishment" that has not succeeded in establishing itself county-wide since Ronald Reagan was President
After several Brooklyn GOP leaders had made some attempt to plant the Republican flag throughout several other neighborhoods in the Borough of Brooklyn, Marty Golden's personal go-fer and now-figurehead County Leader, Ted Ghorra (a Bay Ridgeite himself**), has returned the Chairmanship to some- body/thing looking like the second coming of Fred Pantaleone in all his glory
Maybe, somebody out there might want to disagree. Please, FEEL FREE.....
______________
* Except for those few years when Marty was an NYPD vice cop somewhere else.....
______________
** For the record, Brooklyn GOP First Vice Chairman Brian Doherty is also from Bay Ridge
The Vitos are not from Bay Ridge.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that all the followers finally recognize that Ted Ghorra is the the chair of the party.
ReplyDeleteBay Ridge is the Brooklyn Republican Alamo. It is the last stronghold of a sizable amount of voters who reliably vote Republican. It was by far the closest City Council race in Brooklyn. If anything we don’t pay enough attention to Bay Ridge because if the Brooklyn GOP has any sort of a renaissance, it will be based out of Bay Ridge.
ReplyDeleteSaperstein and denaro..both not from bay ridge are the future of the gop
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "THANKFULLY, I'M SPEECHLESS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 6:05 AM"; "... AT 9:48 AM"; AND "... AT 9:52 AM"
THESE THREE (3) COMMENTS LEFT ME SPEECHLESS IN THEIR ABSOLUTE FECKLESSNESS AND "JEJUNOSITY" (FOR THE FRITINANCY OF THAT WORD, SEE "ANNIE HALL"...)
The comment makers above would have been better served had they been rendered electronically speechless themselves before they memorialized their idiocy on this wonderful blog.
A FURTHER RESPONSE: THE "JUST ADD IT TO THE LIST" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:12 AM"
SERIOUSLY ??? I MEAN S-E-R-I-O-U-S-L-Y !!!!!
For the sake of argument, I'll assume that you ARE serious..... I'll just add your comment to my list above.
BUT, THANK YOU FOR PLAYING.....
Saperstein lost by a huge margin, Denaro is acting like managed some laudworthy accomplishment for getting 20% of the vote against Treyger. The only race that was close was in Bay Ridge. Those are the facts the rest of you including GM can wallow in your delusions.
ReplyDeleteArnaldo will return.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you saperstein god bless you denaro
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you.
Denaro-McCabe-Saperstein will win.
ReplyDelete....Denaro-McCabe-Saperstein will win the heartfelt gratitude and appreciation of all liberal progressives who want to take over Southwest Brooklyn.
ReplyDeletedenaro got 30%, saperstein 40% against two of the most well liked council members who were also incumbents..who had all the union help in the world..for christ sakes Bloomberg came out and endorsed deutsch..saperstein is 33 and denaro is 27! To say they aren’t the future of the gop, along with mccabe who will cruise to victory against the social media warrior brannan in 2021 is a joke! One of the most liberal trending district and Q4U lost by less than 800 votes....
ReplyDeleteDenaro got 27% Saperstein 38% in heavy Republican area while Liam got trounced by Q in the primary. All of them qualified for marching funds and still lost by a huge amount. Keep patting yourselves on the back boys whatever keeps your delusions of relevance going.
ReplyDeleteAll this chatter over the % people lost. It's the end result and this year Saperstein is the chump
ReplyDeleteIt's obvious that these guys aren't the future of the Brooklyn GOP any more than they are the future of the Mets, Jets, Giants, Nets, Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, Devils and especially the Yankees.
ReplyDeleteFred Panteleone. County leader?
ReplyDeleteThe Brooklyn Republican Party will never be blessed with anybody quite like him ever again, even though the more bumptious and presumptuous Ted Ghorra is trying very hard to emulate some of Fred's more well-known tactics and strategies.
ReplyDeleteIt all collapsed under Panteleone. Not that it was his fault. It was just the way things were going for the republicans.
ReplyDeleteFred Pantaleone was a great Party Secretary under George Clark. He massaged people's egos, mended fences, was a great conciliator. All the things that made him an awful County Chairman.
ReplyDeleteLiam McCabe will be a great County Chairman when elected this year..watch . Will put Ghorra and Eaton to shame
ReplyDeleteLiam and Ted have accomplished what even the most staunch Golden loyalists once thought impossible, they make Craig Eaton look like a great chairman.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "QUOTE THE REFRAIN..." EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO ALL TOO MANY OF THE COMMENTERS ABOVE
EVERYBODY THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IS "PALE, MALE & STALE" --- WHAT'S NEEDED IS AN >>> ALTERNATIVE <<< OR AS WHAT A GREAT ALTERNATIVE VOICE TO AN "ALTERNATIVE PRESIDENT" ONCE SAID, WHAT WE NEED IS "A CHOICE NOT AN ECHO..." --- AND BACK THEN OUR CHOICE WAS "DROP IT, BABY" BARRY GOLDWATER
Even if every one of your guys haven't passed their "sell by" dates by 2020, that doesn't mean they don't have stale thoughts, prayers and aspirations. The GOP today is too much about perceived history and not enough about alternative history.....
Word is Preet will be nominated for AG or Governor at next week GOP convention.
ReplyDeleteGreat news 10:55
ReplyDeleteLets give schumer the GOP
Hey 10:55 the "word" you hear is wrong.
ReplyDeletePreet just endorsed Cynthia Nixon for Governor.
The WFP is backing Nixon for governor & Teachout for AG
ReplyDeleteSo its Nixon/Agnew
ReplyDeleteEl Yateem we hardly knew you
ReplyDeleteThe very clean cut El Yateem was closer to winning his primary for City Council than down and dirty Liam McCabe was to winning his. Why isn't McCabe the one leaving town?
ReplyDeleteChairman McCabe is here for the long haul
ReplyDeleteMcCabe has a future in politics.
ReplyDeleteQ has a pension.
i'd rather have the pension
ReplyDelete5 years from now no one will know Q. McCabe will be an elected official.
ReplyDeleteLiam got smoked like a slab of bacon by Q in the primary. if Elyateem beat Brannan, Q would be an elected official today and all would be right in the GOP universe
ReplyDeleteFor whatever reason Q campaign focused all Election Day pullout efforts in Dyker and ignored Bay Ridge. Q didn’t have to win or get close to winning the 64th but if he had lost 64th respectably he would have won the race easily.
ReplyDeleteLiam would have won easily..he will win next time..Q and Capano are off the grid
ReplyDeleteLiam not only couldn’t beat Q in the primary but he couldn’t even come close. He did better than Capano but they both lost in a landslide even though Liam had the Conservatives suporting him as well as Ted Ghorra and the Brooklyn GOP and Nicole Malliotakis. After losing by so much people realized it was all hype. Liam couldn’t even line up enough support to run for Assembly.
ReplyDeleteAnd "Loyal" Liam showed his true colors endorsing Grimm after Donovan endorsed and campaigned for him. Who would ever support or trust Liam in a future race?
