Democrat Presidents spying on Republican presidential candidates is nothing new

President Obama's apparent abuse of the office of the President in the lead-up to the 2016 Presidential election involving his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Republican billionaire Donald Trump (and possibly others) is the perfect "medium" to expose  the unlawful practices used  ---  that's because it was neither "rare" nor "well-done"  (Credit radio legend Fred Allen for that one)

The fact that it is not  >>> rare <<<  came out anew in an excellent retrospective article in Politico

According to the author of a recent piece in the on-line edition of the political magazine,  "Politico"  ---  "President Donald Trump seems to believe that FBI agents infiltrated his presidential campaign for political purposes, and has tweeted that the bureau’s actions could amount to a scandal 'bigger than Watergate.'...   Trump hasn’t provided evidence to support these allegations, but regardless of their veracity, there is precedent for an American intelligence agency spying on a presidential campaign. It happened in the summer of 1964; the target was Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater, and the perpetrator was the CIA, not the FBI...."  (See "When the CIA Infiltrated a Presidential Campaign”  by Steve Usdin,  5/22/18,  Politico/  History Dept.  [https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/05/22/cia-fbi-spy-presidential-campaign-trump-goldwater-218415]).

The article goes on to say that  ---  “….   LBJ  [President Lyndon Baines Johnson] wasn’t squeamish about using the inside information, and he did so in a blunt fashion that must have made CIA officers cringe. Goldwater campaign staff noticed that the Johnson campaign had the unnerving habit of responding to points in their candidate’s speeches before he had delivered them. Johnson didn’t seem to care that his actions made clear to Goldwater that he was being spied on….”

The article in  “Politico”  is followed by this note:   “….   Steve Usdin is the author of the forthcoming  [[[ 'Bureau of Spies: The Secret Connections between Espionage and Journalism in Washington']]] from which this piece was adapted.”

Fifty years have passed,  Watergate came and went,  but  Democrats keep showing that they aren’t just bad Americans,  they are bad people.   LBJ  ---  Barack Obama,   there isn’t any real difference.   That’s why bad people like Chuck Schumer and Mark Warner don’t want any Republican congressional oversight into these Obama era abuses of the FBI and Justice Department involving spying on candidate and President-elect Trump  (and others).

  1. Comey testified the FBI began its investigation into Trump campaign in July 2016.

But the informant/spy was in the Trump campaign in June 2016. we know Comey would never tell a lie because he fancies himself to be an alter boy. Enough has already been said about fancy alter boys.

The point is if the FBI was not yet investigating who sent in the informant?

  2. The reform party may want to look into the new nominee they have for NY AG. There is a reason why Preet Bharara is not registered to vote. You have to be a citizen.

  3. I think the correct term referencing Comey is "Choir Boy". It covers both his pureness of intention and his predilection for chirping like a canary.

  4. I think the correct term referencing Comey is "closet fag"

  5. Marty Golden said at his kick off last night how much he wants the Reform Party line this year

  6. Not sure why everyone is holding off on letting fatboy know that Marty has the reform party

  7. If Ross Barkan wins the primary marty cant lose.

  8. Marty will not be getting the Reform line..take it to the bank

  9. RESPONSE: THE "MAYBE I HAVE THIS ALL WRONG" EDITION

TO SEVERAL OF THE COMMENT MAKERS ABOVE

I DON'T THINK THAT EVERYTHING THAT ALL OF YOU SAID ABOVE CAN BE TRUE AT THE SAME TIME AND IN THE SAME SENSE

In other words, some of you folks are directly contradicting others..... How can that be if everybody is speaking with real knowledge of the facts ???

  10. Guys think about it..do you really think Capano is going to endorse Golden??????

  11. Curtis calls the shots. Golden is on reform ticket.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 444
Even IF that was true about Curtis calling shots, what makes u think Curtis is a Marty Golden guy??????

  13. Yesterday’s poorly attended event at the Manor shows the effects of the scorched earth policies of Jerry and Marty. There were about 40 people in there. Marty very lucky he doesn’t have a strong opponent but two morons trying to wear the progressive mantle in a middle of the road district.

  14. Gournardes and Barkan would get wiped out in Marine Park by Marty.

    ReplyDelete
  15. In past elections there wasn't a solid Democratic Party operation in the southern tier of the 22nd Senate District.
Marty Golden isn't wiping anybody out anywhere this year.
Ask Marty Golden's people about their own polling.

  16. Justin and Chris need to get over themselves. There is no Democrat operation in the 22nd they still have to rely on the unions almost exclusively. They have a lot more Twitter clubs and trolls but they’re not going to pound the pavement. All we need to do is loom when Mallory McMahon and her wack jobs spent a mere half hour outside of Walgreens and had to leave when they almost started fistfights by being so nasty to people walking by. When all is said and done Andrew will never forgive Justin for not letting him switch to Assembly race.

  17. That's a lot of wishing and hoping by Marty's folks. Facts are facts, Marty's numbers are the worst they've ever been, and the next sound you hear will probably be Marty shouting for help from any source whatsoever.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wishing? More like Justin’s delusions of relevance. Justin beat Q by just 700 votes in the part of the 22nd that the Democrats need to win big time in order for Marty just to not to win in a landslide. No con con to drive turnout this year either guys. If Justin barley won this part of the district from Q, Andrew or Ross ain’t coming anywhere near beating Marty.

  19. oh now i get it.

    Quaglione won that race.

  20. Tough to keep up with these changing times.

What were once known as bagmen are now agents of the city. And instead of spies they are informants.

  21. RESPONSE: THE "ONCE AND FUTURE STRONGHOLD(S)" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 8:47 PM"; "... AT 7:37 AM" & "AT... 8:59 AM"

LET ME SEE IF I AM GETTING YOUR POINT --- ARE YOU CONCEDING THAT MARTY GOLDEN NO LONGER HAS A PERSONAL "BASTION" OR STRONGHOLD IN BAY RIDGE AND DYKER HEIGHTS ??? --- AND ARE YOU ALSO SAYING THAT HE DOES HAVE A PERSONAL "BASTION" OR A STRONGHOLD IN MARINE PARK AND GERRITSEN BEACH THAT NO DEMOCRAT CAMPAIGN OR OPERATION CAN TOUCH ???

I'm just trying to see who is really delusional here..... After all, there are other Republican-Conservative office holders that represent parts of Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights, but there are no other Republican-Conservatives representing any parts of Marine Park or Gerritsen Beach.

Unless Marty Golden still has his Seddio deal, I think the Irish Republican guy is carbonized toast. BTW, why did Frank Seddio tell everybody that he didn't think that GOP State Senator Marty Golden wanted to run again, and probably would not ?????

    ReplyDelete
  22. It is in Craig Eatons dreams that Marty will lose..Eaton is toast..Marty coast's to victory. Again

    ReplyDelete
  23. GM you really really need to get some new sources. Marine Park has always been Marty's stronghold just look at the huge margins even when he narrowly lost Bay Ridge in 2012. The local Democrats and Justin have been saying for years that the "neighborhood's changed" and that all these progressives from Park Slope and hipsters from Williamsburg are moving in well they must be leaving as fast as they are arriving. Last year Justin assured everyone that he was going to beat Q by 20 points and then had to beg for help from the Mayor's top advisers to win by one point instead of 20. Q is not nearly as popular as Golden and almost won what is supposed to be the Democratic area that the Dems need to win huge in order to have a chance against Golden. You're also forgetting that even in 2012 in Gounardes much vaunted result where he barely won Bay Ridge, he failed to crack 40% and lost in a landslide. Another easy win for Golden.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Marine Park is still Irish. Gournardes and Barkan are not.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Gerritsen Beach is still Irish, but Marine Park isn't as much any more. Then there's the Buckley's factor; the smaller crowd there is a little tired of Mr. Golden from Bay Ridge.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Gerritsen Beach is increasingly Chinese, and they aren't voting in large numbers at all.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ross Barkan may have some support in Marine Park.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Barkan-schmarkan! The 2018 state senate election will be a simple referendum - For Marty Golden & Not For Marty Golden.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Marty still has some support in Marine Park and Gerritsen Beach, because he and his staff can honestly say that the subway service there, where there are no subways, is as good as for Dyker Heights And Bay Ridge, who have the N and the R.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 2:37 is wrong. Q is a better candidate than Marty.
What does Marty's own polling show?

    ReplyDelete
  31. 6:04 hahahahaha!!!! That was funny.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I saw Chairwoman Catsimatidis and Chairman Ghorra at the State GOP Convention center stage...good for them..what a team

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yea it would be a good idea for Chairman Ghorra to make nice with Andrea after he got shut down trying to take the regional Chair position from her and to have a friend to keep him in the loop after Marty tosses him to
    curb at the next reorg.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 232 aha
So your admitting Marty will win re-election this year and will control re-org next yeat

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anyone who thinks Marty is losing this year needs a reality check. Gounardes and Barkan don’t stand a chance, and either of them will do worse than the 2012 result. As for Ghorra there is nothing to admit, Marty will make him a fall guy and put in another hack.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ghorra a fall guy for what, Marty Golden and Nicole Malliotakis winning big re elections under his leadership, along with the 46th Assembly seat?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ghorra is a fool and has had nothing to with any success Republicans have had in Brooklyn. He told Saperstein to sit down and shut up because Liam was his preferred candidate and then he had the genius idea to invite Gorka to be the featured speaker at the GOP gala and had to cancel it. He and Malliotakis both backed Liam last year instead of unifying behind Q who everyone in the GOP knew would win the primary because they both drank the Kassar kool aid. The reason why Ghorra was installed was so he could be Golden’s puppet since he is now solely the Conservative puppet Marty has no use for him.
