What’s going on here --- Is Gounardes turning his sights from Marty G’s seat to the bruised bum of Pam Harris

Frankly,  sinking one's chops into the  pendulous chocolate hind quarter of a supine,  wounded filly politico sounds like a lot more fun than into the rump of a rotten-Irish-skinned old warhorse

Well, talk of all bums aside,  what is Andrew Gounardes going to do ?????

According to “City & State—New York”  ---  Bay Ridge Democratic state Senate candidate Andrew Gounardes is considering dropping out of the race to run for indicted Assemblywoman Pamela Harris’ seat instead. Gounardes is currently running in state Senate District 22, a seat currently held by Republican state Sen. Martin Golden that stretches across Southern Brooklyn from Bay Ridge to Marine Park….”   (See  “Golden challenger Gounardes considering Assembly run instead” By Jeff Coltin,  3/1/18,   City & State – New York/  Campaigns & Elections   [https://www.cityandstateny.com/articles/politics/campaigns-elections/golden-challenger-gounardes-considering-assembly-run-instead]).

Mr. Coltin’s  piece in  “City & State…”  goes on to say this:   “….[A ] run for Harris’ Assembly seat could be a much easier way for Gounardes to get to Albany. Harris was indicted on fraud charges in January, and Brooklyn Democratic Party County Leader Frank Seddio said he doesn’t expect her to run again, even if she avoids a conviction. While that District 46 seat, which stretches from Bay Ridge to Coney Island, has traditionally been held by a Coney Islander, Bay Ridge native Gounardes would likely become an immediate front-runner if he ran, thanks to his fundraising and political connections...."

A WORD FROM THE WISE

Folks, this seems like anything but a done deal yet.   However,  some of my more in-the-know chirpers posted comments about this just last week;  and  >>>  VOILA !!!! <<<  now it's in some political grass-eater's column.....

  4. Harris will make a deal for 1 to 3 years. Thats the good news.

The bad news is this means the only dem left standing is Barkan?

  5. Looks like Marty is in till 2020

  6. A lot of those fairness-minded Dems are going to be really pissed that they helped elevate Andrew with money and accolades, only for him to bail and run for a seat held by a black woman.

To most (conservative or Republican) readers of this blog, it's no big deal. But progressives are off in their own Private Idaho, and doing this will poison Andrew's reputation for years to come with left-of-center Dems.

  7. I get the feeling come June Ross Barkan will take a job as deputy spokesperson for some government agency which means Marty will be unopposed.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 7:41 AM"

MOST OF OUR STRANGE FEELINGS ARE BEST KEPT TO OURSELVES.....

Now, if you said that you were using a crystal ball or a Ouija Board, and you told me something about Barkan or Gounardes..... OF COURSE, WE WOULD ALL LISTEN-UP !!!!!

  9. Andrew Gounardes finally outsmarted Justin Brannan. He was nothing more than a cash cow to Brannan. He wouldn’t back Andrew in the special election for the seat a few years ago but was afraid of Andrew running for City Council last year. This year Brannan has the nerve to think Andrew would be the token opponent for Golden while he installed his buddy McCreight to Pam’s seat. Eric Adams clued Andrew in and now he will be the next Assemblyman.

  30. RESPONSE: THE "ENOUGH, ALREADY !!!" EDITION

TO: THE COMMENTER PREVIOUSLY COMMENTING IMMEDIATELY ABOVE

WE HAVE SEEN AND HEARD ENOUGH ABOUT THE DONOVAN ENDORSEMENT BY THE STILL NASCENT REFORM PARTY

More important are the repeated push-type "polling" calls [sort of for] Michael Grimm and [sort of against] Dan Donovan..... That will mean votes for Grimm in a GOP Primary. And Donovan's position on "Dreamers" --- not so good in a Republican Primary --- That will mean votes against Donovan in a GOP Primary.....

    ReplyDelete
  31. Gail, your insight about 'for' and 'against' in the upcoming Republican primary is very much on point. The 'against' or 'anybody but' voters are usually very motivated. In Brooklyn, there are a number of pro-Trump Republicans who are solidly against Donovan.

  47. RESPONSE: THE "MORNING LINE ON THE REFORM PARTY LINE" EDITION

TO WHOM IT MIGHT CONCERN AMONG THE COMMENT MAKERS OF THE VARIOUS COMMENTS DELETED BY ME RECENTLY

THE REFORM PARTY HAS YET TO SHOW THAT IT IS ANYTHING BUT A PAPER TIGER >>> CUB --- ON THE OTHER HAND IF NOT WIPED OUT EARLY, TIGER CUBS CAN, AND OFTEN DO, GROW INTO SOMETHING QUITE FORMIDABLE IN DUE COURSE

I see lots of chatter, one way and then the other, but nobody knows what's going to happen involving the Reform Party or its impact on/with/for any of the races in 2018 --- including the Brooklyn-Staten Island Congressional seat now held by Dan Donovan, who seems to have already accepted the RefP line (along with the RepP and ConsP lines).

If the lift is >>> light <<<, I'm sure YKW is up to the task of moving the Brooklyn RefP forward in 2018..... However, I don't think anybody has seen or has any idea what YKW can do, if and when there is real heavy lifting involved..... In other words, nobody has proven anything yet, for or against, when it comes to the prospects of success for the RefP and/ or its new Brooklyn Chairman in 2018.

  48. Gournardes says he is running for senate and just recently was endorsed by RFS which is the anti trump coalition. That was a blow to Barkan.

  49. Sorry Justin, the cat’s out of the bag. Not only is Andrew not running for Senate, he now has people smart enough to help win the Assembly seat he is going to run for. Same people who leaked City and State Story.

  63. RESPONSE: THE "HAVEN'T YOU LEARNED ANYTHING ???" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 8:26 PM"

HERE'S SOMETHING THAT YOUR "MARTY" (NOT THE ONE IN THE MOVIE WITH ERNEST BORGNINE) LEARNED IN 2017 --- YOU CAN'T STOP ANYBODY FROM RUNNING FOR ANYTHING THEY WANT TO RUN FOR, IF THEY REALLY WANT TO DO IT (BTW, WHO DID PICK UP THE BILL FOR THAT BRIDGEVIEW MOMENT IN 2017 BETWEEN GOLDEN, DONOVAN, MC CABE AND QUAGLIONE ??? ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW.....)

Democrats seem to know the truth that --- anybody can run for anything at any time --- deep-down at the molecular level, probably somewhere in their DNA/RNA memory. On the other hand, Republicans seem to stumble onto that very same truth quite infrequently, about once every ten election cycles; and then they promptly forget it, usually by the next election cycle.
