Early Kings County Politics article suggests that nothing new is going to happen in the wide open 46th Assembly District races in the GOP and further afield

Some might argue,  “Why re-invent the wheel ???”  However,  something needs fixing with so many flat tires on the bus going,  “Round and thump,  round and thump,  round and thump….  all through the town

Stephen Witt,  obviously channeling his inner Claude Raines as Inspector Reynaud, must have told Kadia Goba to “Round up the usual suspects….” in advance of her anything-but-tell-all post on the Kings County Politics blog,  creatively entitled,  “Potential Candidates Eye Harris Assembly Seat” (since the italics were the most interesting part of that headline, I left them in there)

Basically, this post looks like something intended to barely inform the uninformed about who might be running for the probably soon to be vacated assembly seat now held by the indicted Assemblywoman Pam Harris  (See “Potential Candidates Eye Harris Assembly Seat”  by  Kadia Goba,  1/12/18,  Kings County Politics Blog/  Elections   [https://www.kingscountypolitics.com/potential-candidates-eye-harris-assembly-seat./]).   It should be noted that contrary to what is stated in the title  ---  not everybody mentioned in the post indicated that they were eyeing anything.

Based only upon whom was mentioned in the article,  it would seem that Chris McCreight should start off as the prohibitive favorite,  and easily able to lap this field if he does have the strong support of his boss,  Councilman Justin Brannan.

But, let's wait and see how this all plays out  ---  in the short run and in the long.....

Also, it should be noted that there is an oddly placed mention of an old joust between Lucretia Regina-Potter and Brooklyn Conservative Party Chairman Jerry Kassar  (and I do wonder why that’s in there)…..   Kassar does seem to have a compulsion though; it's like an obsessive-compulsive disorder that makes him turn upon candidates that he once supported; and then attack them viciously if they dare to run without his support.  It's like he is resentful of candidates who actually RUN for public office.  (BTW  ---  Does anybody know anything more about that ?????   I'd really like to delve into that some more some time soon.....  Like, before he does it again.....)

  1. Kassar lives in the 46th

    Why not him?

  2. Jerry would be a fresh face. He never lost a race yet. Primary or election. Who can beat that?

  3. Councilman Mark Treyger gave Harris the money for her non profit from his discretionary funds. That was the money Harris was charged with by the Feds for paying her rent.

Did Treyger testify before the grand jury?

Did Treyger know his money went to pay Harris rent for her home he practically lived in?

Treyger needs to answer up since he installed Harris to her seat in legislature.

  4. Gail, why did you only give the names of two of the people listed in the Brooklyn Politics article, McCreaight and Lucretia Potter. Does that mean something?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Whoa !!! I thought this blog was all fun & games.
Thats a lot of serious stuff going on with Treyger.
And as long as we are talking about councilman just what role did Justin have in this?
Our new councilman has not said a word about Harris.

  6. To 10:18 I think it means the others like Q and Saperstein are not worth mentioning.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The last chance a republican could have won the 46th was in the 2015 special and only got 37%. It's over. The democrats own this.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Is Justin going to go along with another coney island non profiteer?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Chairman Capano will decide who takes the 46th

    ReplyDelete
  10. Saperstein and Q don't live in district..Capano does

    ReplyDelete
  11. The Republicans will win if they unite behind Q or Saperstein. Q won 46th and can win and Saperstein has big name on his side of the district. they should team up if they were smart even with Capano helping. Also heard from former office staff of Saperstein that he is already raising money.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It will be war between Q and Saperstein

    ReplyDelete
  13. In the end a Dem wins

    ReplyDelete
  14. Craig McCreight seems like Dems best pick

    ReplyDelete
  15. I assume Justin will select Pam's successor. He is the new power broker in town but don't be surprised when they run Gentile because Gentile needs a job

    ReplyDelete
  16. If Gentile was the new power broker than how come he didnt get that Judgeship?

  17. RESPONSE: THE "SO MANY COMMENTS --- SO LITTLE TIME" EDITION

TO ALL, OR AT LEAST MOST, OF THE ABOVE [DON'T YOU LOVE THE "AT LEAST MOST..." BIT ???]

    A. I MENTIONED WHO I MENTIONED IN MY POST ABOVE BY MERE WHIM OR HAPPENSTANCE --- THERE IS NO ULTERIOR MOTIVE OR MEANING; B. MY POST WAS A AN EARLY SNAPSHOT RESPONSE TO WHAT OBVIOUSLY WAS AN EARLY SNAPSHOT POST IN THE "KINGS COUNTY POLITICS" BLOG --- THEY WILL HAVE MORE TO SAY ABOUT THIS RACE AS TIME GOES ON AND SO WILL I; AND C. THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE BEGINNING OF THE RACE(S) IN THE 46TH AD --- THE WORLD WILL TURN AROUND MANY, MANY , MANY TIMES BEFORE WE SEE WHO THE "NEW" ASSEMBLYPERSON FROM THE 46TH MIGHT BE

Actually, all, or at least most, of you recent comment-makers above on this thread deserve kudos --- a lot of what you said was on point and made some kind of sense..... See what you can do when you try.

  19. A routine Republican can't win in the 46th AD, with or without Conservative Party support.

But here's the deal, the 46th AD is a real PURPLE district and the most PURPLE candidate can win it, and that PURPLE candidate can also be an enrolled REPUBLICAN.

The time has come for somebody in the Brooklyn GOP to declare war on the Conservative Party, or at very least sue them for a divorce, and the dirtier and more brutal that divorce is the better

Right now, what is needed is for a true moderate Republican to announce that they are a candidate for the GOP primary in the 46th AD, and state up front that they will not accept the Conservative Party line under any circumstances, but will actively seek out the Reform line; and then run on the Reform line, if it's offered to them.

    ReplyDelete
  20. To 8:43 you sound as dumb as Bob looks.
There are no moderate republicans as there are no moderate democrats. Those days are over. With regard to the divorce you'd like to see between the republican and conservative party keep in mind when the parties have no assets no fight in court is needed.
As for the reform party they never get more than 1 or 2%. Never.
    Useless !!

  22. Kate Cucco is the cons only hope. Quaglione is disgusted with Kassar costing him the election and would give them the middle finger. McCabe got crushed in the primary against Quaglione, imagine what would happen if Saperstein or Storobin ran against him.

  25. Chairman Capano
I know you have already been contacted by local press about the 46th..you are the only former council CANDIDATE in the 43rd that actually lives in the 46th AD..you ran for this seat in 2008..go for it..let voters make the right decision this time..as the Reform Republican candidate, you can win it

    ReplyDelete
  26. CAPANO FOR ASSEMBLY!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I support Capano for Assembly.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Chairman please, we beg you please, please stop the suspense and announce that the 46th is going to be the next conquest. The voters realize the mistake they made in 2008. Forgive the misinformed and give them a second chance.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Go for it chairman. The 46th is yours. Brooklyn is yours.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The Chairman will be making an announcement within months.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Quagz was taking a victory lap for winning the 46th AD but forgets the rest of the 46th AD that isn't part of the council district where a Republican would get drawn, quartered and slaughtered. Quagz should really stick to ordering K-Cups and picking up Marty's dry cleaning

    ReplyDelete
  32. Brilliant moves Chairman, was this the plan all along? Do all your door to door for the GOP primary in the 46th AD as I heard you did...then get your name out there even more with a regular column and secure a definite second party line with the Reform line so you can say you will not seek or need the conservative line..Brilliant

    ReplyDelete
  33. Q lives in the 64th

    ReplyDelete
  34. The Chairman is no longer concerned with quaglione.

2018 will be the year of Capano.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The democrat in the 46th will not take the conservative line. The Chairman has outsmarted Kassar once again.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Brannan is the new power broker and he will decide who replaces Pam
Brannan will likely confer with Chairman Capano on this important decision
Case closed. Quaglione is not, never was and never will be part of the equation

  37. Brannan and Capano have been seen together on several occassions..I believe 240 pm is accurate

    ReplyDelete
  38. Rumors of many meeting with The Chairman have been circulating.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The real and only Chairman that matters here is Ted Ghorra. He will choose the Republican candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Quaglione was at Donovan kick off in Staten island today telling all he Will be the assembly candidate and Kassar promised to support him

    ReplyDelete
  41. The only thing Donovan kicked off today was his 4 inch heels

    ReplyDelete
  42. 5:09 is Fake news. Q does not live in the 46th. He's in the 64th.

    Maybe its 5:09's dyslexia

    ReplyDelete
  43. The 46th is a Coney Island district and Pam Harris is not going anywhere in 2018. She plans to fight this thing and i dont blame her. When the voters and jury finally see the deal Treyger got she'll skate.

    ReplyDelete
  44. All decisions regarding the 46th will be made by The Chairman in a timely order.

    ReplyDelete

  45. Did Treyger get a deal?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Treyger gave Harris the money she was charged with stealing. It came from Treygers discretionary funds he has as a councilman. Treygers testimony would have been needed for the grand jury. Treyger can always claim he didn't know what happened to money he distributed. But I'm sure Treyger got immunity in exchange for testimony.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Crains NY detailed Treygers involvement. To observers it was clear Harris and Treyger were joined at the hip.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I support Chairman and Assemblyman Capano.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The Chairman will drain the swamp

    ReplyDelete
  50. Capano is only GOP former council CANDIDATE that lives in 46th..this primary received lots of attention so name ID there..never mind fact, Capano has Reform line

    ReplyDelete
  51. Quaglione will be the Republican candidate and the bad blood between him and Kassar will come out in plain view as he tries to get one of his cronies like Storobin nominated.

  59. QUERY: THE "STRANGE THREATENING E-MAILS FROM KASSAR TO LUTHMANN" EDITION

WHAT ARE WE TO MAKE OF THIS:

    "gerardkassar‏@gerardkas
Replying to @rluthmann How is the investigation going? I have been hearing a lot of not so nice things. I guess it will all be very public soon. Good luck!
    8:03 PM - 6 Nov 2017...."

HERE ARE SOME SIMPLE QUESTIONS THAT GERRY KASSAR NEEDS TO ANSWER:

WHAT DID KASSAR KNOW ABOUT THE UP-COMING LUTHMANN INDICTMENT ???
EXACTLY WHEN DID HE FIND OUT ABOUT IT ????
HOW DID HE FIND OUT ALL ABOUT IT NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 6th ?????

BTW, the Luthmann indictment was unsealed on December 15th 2017, when Luthmann was arrested by the Feds.

How did "Gerry the K" know enough about it to chide Richard Luthmann about it on November 6th --- that's more than a month earlier ?????

    ReplyDelete
  60. The case against Luthmann was a deal between Kassar/Long/Quirk/McMahons.

I thought Kassar would have been smarter than to brag about it on social media. However Kassars goal may be to let any lawyer who is thinking of doing work for reform party to think twice.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jerry knows what hes doing. This year the conservative party will bury the reform party with litigation.

    ReplyDelete
  62. UPDATE & BACKFILL: THE "EARLY SALVOS IN KASSAR'S WAR AGAINST LUTHMANN" EDITION

THE RECORD INDICATES THAT JERRY KASSAR BEGAN HIS SYSTEMATIC ATTACKS ON RICHARD LUTHMANN AT LEAST AS FAR BACK AS JUNE 2017

BROOKLYN CONSERVATIVE PARTY LEADER AND REGULAR COLUMNIST JERRY KASSAR PUT RICHARD LUTHMANN IN HIS CROSS-HAIRS AFTER IT BECAME CLEAR THAT ATTORNEY LUTHMANN WAS GOING AFTER BOTH OF THE MC MAHONS OF STATEN ISLAND --- BUT KASSAR DIDN'T BRING THAT UP IN ANY OF HIS EARLY RANTS, EVEN THOUGH IT HAD BEEN WELL-REPORTED IN THE CITY-WIDE PRESS, EVEN IN THE NY TIMES

A funny thing (strange not Ha-Ha-Ha) in all of this is that Kassar doesn't mention one word about the Luthmann-McMahon controversies in his early columns attacking Luthmann. Instead, Kassar went after Mr. Luthmann very hard for other things, calleds for various investigations of Luthmann, and even the disbarment of that ( to Kassar and several of Kassar's associates) particularly offensive Staten Island attorney.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Prior to his indictment, Luthmann was also being investigated for his well-publicized creation of a fake Facebook page, used to attack a female candidate on Staten Island, as well as others. Much was written about the Facebook case, as experts believe it would likely end in Luthmann losing his law license. Kassar was probably writing about that.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Setting up facebook pages for political purposes is not a crime. But maybe it is on the McMahons staten island.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ghorra is a no show at everything and needs to go:

    a) didnt go to Albany NYS GOP County Chair Meeting last Monday;
    b) didnt go to Chairwoman Cats' Consultant Meeting last Tuesday;
    c) didnt got to Dan Donovan's Kick off on Saturday.

Someone put out an APB on him!

    ReplyDelete
  66. NY GOP finally has a candidate for Governor who can win.

Joel Giambra knows how to fix the subways.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Giambra will go with reform party and has dumped conservative party. Smart move.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Capano was leading force behind Giambra I hear. He, Sliwa, and Morano met with Giambra 2 weeks ago..makes sense Capano doing what he can to kick conservative party aside

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ghorra missed 3 of the most useless meetings possible. Bob may think those meetings he posted above are important which explains his 1%.

  70. RESPONSE: THE " 'PROBABLY' REALLY SHOULD BE 'MAYBE' --- AND 'MAYBE' DOESN'T FEED THE BULLDOG" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 5:01 AM"

NICE TRY !!!!! BUT, YOU GOT WAY OUT OVER YOUR SKIS --- AND YOU WOUND UP LIKE THAT GUY WHO USED TO TUMBLE DOWN THE SKI JUMP AT THE OPENING OF ABC'S "WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS"

My comment clearly stated that ".... Instead, Kassar went after Mr. Luthmann very hard for other things, called for various investigations of Luthmann, and even [called for Luthmann's] disbarment ...." So, I do get your "probably" this and "maybe" that.....

The problem for you and the pro-Kassar, pro-Long, pro-McMahon, pro-Quirk and pro-Golden side is this: when it comes to Kassar himself, there is no "probably" this or "maybe" that --- he knows WHAT he knew about Luthmann and WHEN he knew it; he knows WHAT HE DID about Luthmann and WHEN HE DID IT; and he knows WHY HE DID WHAT HE DID about Luthmann and WHY HE DID IT THEN.

THAT'S WHY JERRY KASSAR HAS A LOT OF QUESTIONS TO ANSWER.....

I'll be doing a pretty detailed post about this in a day or two.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Capano and Eaton just can't handle that Ted Ghorra is closer to the Andrea and John Cats and they are on the outer edges..

    ReplyDelete
  72. Gailybird, too bad Luthmann's attorney Aidala is 100% in the Dennis Quirk - Mike McMahon - Mike Long -Marty Golden camp along with your friend Kassar. Your crusade for Luthmann will end just like the one you tried for another Staten Islander, "Joe Duffel Bag" Salvatore Perone. Isn't he still locked-up without any trial.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Gale,
You are not the only one observing the lynching of Luthmann which due to his girth may be converted to life without parole.
Luthmann is obviously making a deal which explain the reason why Luthmann switched lawyers and hired the scholar Arthur "Stupid Arty" Aidala.
What I noticed is the unidentified unindicted co-conspirator who wore a wire on Luthmann. Who sent that guy into the fold? Sounds like the first act DA McMahon did. - Jeb Stuart McGruder

Why would anyone care if Ghomora is closer to AJ and John Cats than Eaton or Capano?

Who really gives a shit as DT would say?

    ReplyDelete
  75. If Chairman Capano thinks its important than its important. You are either with The Chairman or against him.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Whats with all this Staten Island News? I thought this was a Brooklyn blog. - Joan Baez

    ReplyDelete
  77. Chairman Capano is clearly deeply involved in the Governors race if you read the Daily News today, as well as the 46th race- I hear 2 candidtaes have already reached out to him to get the Reform Party line

    ReplyDelete
  78. Chairman, who are we supporting in the 46th AD? Will it be you yourself?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Chairman where are you? Leadership is needed.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I believe Chairman Capano will have a big public announcement within the next week or so

    ReplyDelete
  81. If The Chairman runs in the 46th he'll sweep in Giambra for Governor and the rest of the state wide ticket.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Giambra is well known.

    In Buffalo

    ReplyDelete
  83. Won't someone please tell John Quaglione that his City Council campaign is over and he lost? You can also tell him that Bob Capano is the new Chairman.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Quaglione will be sharing a ride to albany with Golden next year.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Won't someone please tell John Quaglione that his political career is over and that he is a perennial loser? You can also tell him that Bob Capano kept him from being on the CC and he will surely keep him from any other office.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Setting up Facebook pages for political purposes is not a crime, but setting up a fraudulent Facebook page, designed to look like a real candidate's page in order to convince voters that the candidate holds offensive views and is a disreputable person ... that will get you disbarred even if you already aren't headed to prison for even worse stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Saperstein is already telling people he will destry Quaglione in a gOP primary and end his elected official hopes forever

    ReplyDelete
  88. I am with Steve Saperstein..time for Quaglione and Kassar to go away.

    ReplyDelete
  89. You guys are forgetting the role of Ted Ghorra-- he will decide the 46th

    ReplyDelete
  90. You are delusional. Ted Ghorra doesn't have ANY role in the 46th AD except possibly as a voter if he lives there.

    ReplyDelete
  91. The choice for the 46th is a tough call.

Saperstein got 39% for City Council and Crapano got 1%

    ReplyDelete
  92. Bobs results are consistent.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Saperstein won’t do anything without Kassar’s approval. The nomination is Quaglione’s if he wants it. He’d easily win a Primary.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Saperstein will kill Quaglione and end his elected official hopes once and for all..

    ReplyDelete
  95. Sap will put an end to kassar

    ReplyDelete
  96. I see another 3 person primary like the council one

    Saperstein, Capano, Quaglione

    ReplyDelete
  97. Saperstein couldn’t get more than 36% in a Trump district against an imbecile like Deutsch, saying he’s going to beat Quaglione in a primary is not realistic at all.

    ReplyDelete
  98. The 46th covers more of Saperstein base then Quagliones..I hear sap has already reaches out to Capano to make peace and work together

    ReplyDelete
  99. Capano should run..screw Saperstein and Quacklione..

    ReplyDelete
  100. Look closely: Saperstein got 50 percent in the 46th and would've gotten more but for a popular incumbent who paid off radio and made deals to stay in power. Quaglione is a big name and could beat Saperstein in a primary but won't win a general. Its one or the other!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Saperstein with Capano supporting him to help him in bay ridge is a lock

    ReplyDelete
  102. Saperstein and Capano met yesterday..Steve apologized for the past and they are ready to take down Quaglione and Kassar in the primary

    ReplyDelete
  103. It looks like Harris will be re-elected.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Saperstein and Capano

    38% + 1% = A Team of Losers

    ReplyDelete
  105. Sap and Cap will take down Q if Capano forgives Saperstein for his alliance with Kassar..

    ReplyDelete
  106. Dr Mathylde Frontus a democrat from Coney Island has announced shes running for Harris seat. Frontus founded 3 non profits in Coney Island. The losers above couldnt carry Bay Ridge. Its over guys.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Seems to be a lot of profit in these non profits.

    ReplyDelete
  108. The best case scenario on election night you can hope for is:

    Quaglione 37%

    Saperstein 27%

    Capano 1%

    ReplyDelete
  109. Capano will win this one..giving the scandals in the 46th..the Reform Party will do well

    ReplyDelete
  110. Frontus is a democrat, a woman, and she lives in Coney Island not Staten Island.

A bunch of white guys stuffed into a booth at the bridgeview gets the usual.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Yeah, yeah! Another black poverty program queen will go into the NY STATE DEMOCRATASSEMBLY representing simple-minded white people .... What an F-in' World!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Matilda Frontus sounds like Pamela Harris #2
Black woman, Coney Island, runs a shady non profit........
Like Yogi Berra said "It's déjà vu all over again!"

    ReplyDelete
  113. Today I heard that John Q. has his eyes set on the Harris seat. I say John Q. should not run because he will surely lose (for the third time) and I do not think he would be able to survive that and go back to working for Marty Golden as three time loser

    ReplyDelete
