Bob Capano again cashes in with >>> EARNED MEDIA [See also my correction in the comments below at August 23, 2017 at 2:05 PM]

BOB CAPANO HAS THE STAGE ALL TO HIMSELF  ---   at least briefly  ---  in Julianne Cuba's detailed report in the Brooklyn Courier of her interview of the GOP's apparently most media-savvy candidate running for the City Council in 2017

Maybe, this is only the first of a series by the very lovely Ms. Cuba.....   However,  for at least one sun-shiny day in late August 2017, Bob Capano has his leg up on all his Republican opponents in the 2017 Primary for City Council in the 43rd Council District

You can see it all in "Coutier Life's -- Brooklyn Daily" for August 21, 2017  ( See  "Our sit-down with Bay Ridge Council candidate Bob Capano" by Julianne Cuba,  8/21/17,   Courier Life's -- Brooklyn Daily   [http://www.brooklyndaily.com/stories/2017/33/br-bob-capano-interview-2017-08-18-bk.html]).

MY FAVORITE PART OF THE INTERVIEW

Here was my personal favorite item in Julianne Cuba's  article from the horse's mouth about many of candidate Bobby C's positions and beliefs:

"....   On connecting with the district’s growing Muslim and Arab community:
Capano has been a very vocal supporter of President Trump and opponent of local Arab-American activist Linda Sarsour, but he said does not feel that has alienated him from that community.
'At National Night Out, I had a number of Arab Americans come up to me and say, "Bob, keep doing what you’re doing, Linda Sarsour doesn’t represent the views of our community."  I will reach out to all Arab Americans in that community, and if they disagree with me about Linda, then you know what, don’t vote for me. If you want to count going door-to-door, speaking to members of the Arab-American community, I absolutely do....”

BTW, BOB CAPANO DID QUALIFY FOR MATCHING FUNDS FROM THE NYCCFB

The good news is he qualified  ---  the bad news is Bobby C. didn't max-out.....

  7. I read the Brooklyn courier article. Capano told them he is a big trump supporter. yeah that went over big. Capano sounds as dumb as quaglione.

However, at the end of the article Bob did vow to back Liam after the primary.

  8. Gale thought this was earned media. The piece was horrible. Anecdote about a muslim telling Bob hes great is the reason why he ends up with 12%. And that's being generous.

  9. 3 weeks to go and bob will be having the last laugh.

  10. If Capano puts out a piece of mail to Republican voters that he is strong supporter of President Trump's populism and economic nationalism, and he emphasizes that he is the only true pro-Trump candidate in the Republican Primary field, he will win.

  19. Heard Bob Capano on 1010 WINS every 10 money on way home last night addressing how stupid it is to hire a "commission" to "study" whether we should read down statues. Also blasted the Dems for wanting to take Columbus out of Columbus Circle.

The Dems are turning into the Taliban. What's next? Burning books? Burqas?

  24. RESPONSE: THE "CAPANO RADIO DAY" EDITION

TO SEVERAL OF THE COMMENTERS ABOVE

A radio blitz might be significant in some kind of race that is city-wide or bigger. However, by itself, it isn't that big a deal.

Bob Capano's campaign has had a heavy media component for a long time; and RADIO has always been a big PART of Capano's media campaign. The WINS radio drumbeat yesterday was both interesting and singular..... As such, it was, is and will be effective in advancing Bob Capano's chances in the primary.

  25. Bob has had a clear message designed to win the primary and lose the election. Bay Ridge votes for progressive democrats. A moderate republican who denounces Trump may have a chance. I'm not sure how many elections Bob and Q need to lose before that sinks in.

CAN I CALL YOU "GERRY" ? [IF PUCCINI CAN CALL LUCRETIA - "MIMI" --- THEN "GERRY" ISN'T A BIG REACH FOR YOUR HUMBLE BLOGSTER]

Those who know me well know that I am of at least two minds on this sort of thing..... [Yes, and many might chide me that I'm at least "...two out-of-his-minds about it.] So be it.

Bobby C. is positioned as well as he can be for the GOP primary, given that his presumption was that he would have been running on a ticket headed by Johnny-Cats. He has been consistently a voice of support for candidate Donald Trump --- and he continues that support for President Trump. However, the 43rd Council District has already changed a lot; and it continues that change apace. That means that almost any Democrat running in the 43rd District in 2017 can run a moderate left campaign and still look like they are more centrist than Bob.

The one exception to that is "Khader the Hater," who has attacked as "racist" any who do not believe that he is an appropriate candidate for public office anywhere.

I know that several observers think that the GOP's only chance of winning the 43rd District Council seat back is if Khader El-Yateem wins the Democrat primary. To that I'd like add this --- If "Khader the Hater" is the Democrat nominee, then Bob Capano has showed he is ready, willing and able to sally forth against him head-on in one on one combat.

  28. After Bob wins the primary he has already told folks he is ready to bring Gerry Obrien aboard to help defeat el yateem or whichever Dem wins

  29. CORRECTION: THE "MAYBE, I CAN MAKE A PLAY AFTER THE BALL HAS BOUNCED A COUPLE OF TIMES" EDITION

THE ENTIRE PREMISE OF MY POST ABOVE WAS WRONG.....

I HAVE IT ON THE BEST AUTHORITY THAT JULIANNE CUBA IS DOING SIMILAR ARTICLES ABOUT ALL THE CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES --- SO BOB ISN'T GETTING A PARTICULAR "EARNED MEDIA" BOOST OUT OF THIS JULIANNE CUBA THING AT ALL

I'M SHOCKED THAT NONE OF MY ROUTINE CRITICS DIDN'T START SMASHING POTS'N'PANS AND TAKING ME TO TASK FOR THIS BEFORE I DISCOVERED IT MYSELF

I saw the Bay Ridge Courier this morning to check out how Bob's article was placed and presented. Low and behold, there it is right next to a similar Q & A by the lovely Julianne Cuba --- this one for Liam McCabe. The two current items were accompanied by a highlighted disclaimer of sorts indicating that similar articles would be appearing for the other candidates --- for the Republicans that would be Lucretia Regina-Potter and John Quaglione.

Sorry for the mix-up; that's why we put erasers on pencils..... Yatta, yatta, yatta !!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Quaglione and McCabe had big crowds at their events. Capano did not have an even and Potter has no friends

  31. I saw a video of the Liam event and they mentioned the "Brooklyn's greatest state Senator David Storobin....

Saw one photo from Q's event and there was one other person in the photo.

Didnt see any pictures from Capano's event.

Wow, what a strike at old man Golden.

Funny that they make Storobin the "greatest" and he only served, what, five days?

He actually looked like Howdy Doody....and he talks like he has marbles in his mouth.

Get a life Storobin....thank God he is no longer in politics and lost his next two elections miserably.

    Go Liam!

  32. I have watched FB tonight and see three great candidates, Liam, Q and Capano. Three hard working young men who are each great candidates in their own right, but it is disgraceful, that we have a Republican Party in Brooklyn where so much money is being spent with Republicans fighting Republicans.

Our Leadership absolutely sucks. Our Chairman does not have the temerity, balls, strength or independence to sit these three candidates down and say, we need ONE candidate to run, not three.

He needs to lead and not be a puppet. Think of the money being spent and wasted? Think of all the inner fights that are being created? Think of all the problems this will create for the Brooklyn GOP in the future. Do you really think the loser's in the primary are going to have their supporters support the winner...NEVER will that happen, and we will lose the opp to win back the seat...

Quite frankly, if Golden and Kassar were so powerful and so all knowing
how could they let Liam and Q run against each other? How could they not broker a deal to get one of them out of the race, or simply make sure only one of them ran...and then they could have tried to work with Bob to get him out. And then the Brooklyn GOP would have one candidate, spending all the money, time and resources and working with ALL REPUBLICANS in the 43rd CD to make sure the GOP takes back this seat.

But if you analyze it, you will see that Golden is happy with this race because he really doesnt want a Republican to win, so when he is over 70 (wow he is old) he can run for this seat next time and stay in NYC as a councilman.

Dont ever think that there isnt a plan or conspiracy that Golden and his team have concocted.

The moral is, the GOP has lost its way. We will not win back this seat and we will just fall further and further behind the Dems...

Good luck Liam, Q and Bob..you will all need it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have a question for Q?

How could you even work in the office with Kassar who is running Liam against you? After all your years of service to Marty and Kassar, how can you even stand being in the same room or office with Kassar when you know he is stabbing you in the back?

  34. I was at the Capano event hosted by the Eaton's at their home. There were at least thirty-five people there while I was there but I left early and there might have been a few stragglers.

There was lots of good food and drink, more important there were several Republican movers and shakers there. Some were much more interesting than others. One even talked a about getting a lot of signatures for Liam and Liam's handpicked candidate for State Committee in the 46th AD, Kerry McCarthy. According to this particular activist wag, probably it is all a waste of time, because Kerry will probably lose badly to incumbent GOP State Committee person, Lucretia Potter. And the biggest reason Kerry will lose badly, is because she is getting bad advice from Liam and his cohorts, and she is not listening to long-time Republicans from the district.

It looks like Craig Eaton still has some pull in the Grand Old Party of Kings County, even with people who look and sound like they are with other candidates.

  35. Several State Committee members and others on County Leader Ted Ghorra's Executive Committee were at the Craig Eaton's & John Catsimatidis' event for Bob Capano last night.

  36. Recent developments having nothing to do with the council race has exposed old fissures within the regime that was supposed to be united behind the current GOP leadership. GW should start calling his old BSI and he would have quite a few new subject posts.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The poster at 7:19 above is confused.

You sound like you want a strong Republican Party, and a leaders with balls and backbone.

But you want candidates who can be cowed into submission in a backroom meeting, and forced to withdraw as a candidate because someone tells them to.

You want a strong Republican Party, but you don't want anyone to have a Primary.

You can't have one without the other. Democrats have Primaries all the time and it never seems to hurt them. Primaries create a competitive spirit, force candidates to up up their game and prepare a lot earlier than some anointed nominee.

  38. RESPONSE: THE "AT LEAST YOU ARE POINTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 3:40 AM"

YOUR ANALYSIS OF WHAT WORKS AND DOESN'T WORK TO MAKE FOR A STRONG POLITICAL PARTY IS MOSTLY RIGHT ON --- HOWEVER, WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR A STRONG PARTY IS A SEVERAL YEAR SUCCESSION OF TALENTED, WELL-PREPARED AND WELL-FINANCED >>> CANDIDATES <<< FOR PUBLIC OFFICE >>> THAT'S BECAUSE >>> CANDIDATES <<< ARE THE FACE OF THE PARTY

    Look at this:
With the exception of two districts where the local citizens were briefly represented by Republicans following two very narrow special election victories, only one tiny part of Bay Ridge Brooklyn has been exposed to elections with as many as three incumbent Republicans running for re-election. A slightly larger area has the benefit of having two incumbent Republicans running every two years; and the rest of Marty Golden's district only has Marty running every two years.
THAT IS THE STATE OF A KINGS COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY ONLY INTERESTED IN THE CONTINUED VIABILITY AND RE-ELECTION OF INCUMBENT REPUBLICAN OFFICE HOLDERS.....

The instant race for NYC Council in the 43rd District, involving four Republican primary candidates, has brought more life and money into delivering various versions of the GOP message to the Republican folks in the 43rd Counc. Dist. than all of the incumbents have done for years.

It's the >>> CANDIDATES <<< and their individual organizations that have made this happen..... Or to put it negatively, NO CANDIDATES -- NO CAMPAIGNS.....

On the other hand, if this is a one-off deal, it won't mean a thing. Just like those two one-off special election victories --- just like "Candles in the Wind" (BTW, NOT a show tune).
