NOTICE: THIS IS NOT NEWS --- IT'S NOTHING LIKE NEWS --- AND IT NEVER WILL BE --- State Senator "endorses" very, very long-time staffer to be a City Councilman

John Alexander is either the most gullible fool ever to call himself a journalist,  or he deserves an award for creative fiction.  The article under his name in the Brooklyn Eagle is in no sense professional reporting or journalism  ---  it is much closer to being flackery for a tread-worn office holder and his hand-picked toady, who happens to be a candidate for City Council

ON THE OTHER HAND,  GET A LOAD OF THE PICTURE PROMINENTLY POSITIONED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BROOKLYN EAGLE ARTICLE  (also by John Alexander) ---  Was Marty Golden drugged ???  ---  OR  ---   Did Marty Golden just suffer the normal consequences of listening to a speech by John Quaglione  ???

If I were to boil down the "big lies" portion of John Alexander's fishy tale to only one representative bite, it would be this:   "Golden offered strong words of praise for Quaglione, and said that the decision to endorse him was an easy one. Golden detailed all the initiatives he’s tackled with Quaglione and admitted that if Quaglione were to win the City Council seat it would be an added advantage because together they could get so much more done...."   (See "Marty Golden endorses John Quaglione for City Council" by John Alexander, 6/2/17,  The Brooklyn Daily Eagle   [http://www.brooklyneagle.com/articles/2017/6/2/marty-golden-endorses-john-quaglione-city-council#.WTHNexl4YLY.twitter]).

LET'S GET REAL, NOW  ---  I'm sure that Marty Golden doesn't want anybody to really think that he would have gotten nothing done if it weren't for John Quaglione being at his side for nineteen years.  Marty was doing his best to come up with some good things to say about John Quaglione.

For his part, the reporter who penned this piece let down the general public and local journalists everywhere.
All of the good ink appearing in John Alexander's article quoting Golden is nothing but pure puffery;  and by reporting all those hollow quotes unchallenged and without proper background and context, the 'reporter" reduced himself to the status of a flack  ---  or even worse,  he made himself into a "PUFFER" building up a certain kind of "Star" for some kind of a "Money Shot."

At the same time, it needs to be noted that an important fact left out of the Brooklyn Eagle "STORY" is that by only getting his boss Marty Golden's "endorsement" at this late date in the campaign  (up to the eve of petitioning)  shows that John Quaglione has generated NO MOMENTUM and even LESS ENTHUSIASM for his candidacy for the City Council.

THE PICTURE WORTH MORE THAN THOUSANDS OF WORDS
All of the above criticism of John Alexander is more than penumbrated by the magnificent photo that he presented under this caption:  "State Sen. Marty Golden endorses his Deputy Chief of Staff John Quaglione for City Council. Eagle photo by John Alexander".....

The John Alexander photo shows Quaglione and Golden sitting and having only coffee in an obviously empty Bridgeview Diner  (when was this photo taken at 5:00 AM ???).....   Marty Golden looks like more than ten miles of bad road (and I think almost everybody knows what the Marty Golden version of that looks like... ),  In spite of  his crisp shirt and nicely combed white hair,  Boss-man Marty looks like he's on a heavy dose of  Thorazine....   Of course there might be a simpler explanation,  Marty Golden might have just been listening to John Q fill him in on some of the issues that he would be talking about during his campaign.

  1. Gailypooh,
Your friend, Mr. QQQuaggulleeonnee (that was my idea first), is so proud of his Marty Golden endorsement he put it on social media. He must think the picture in the Eagle was pretty good because he posted that too.

I'll never forget where I was the day this happened.

  3. Me too, I was going into the Coliseum Movie Theater at 4th Avenue between 52nd & 53rd - wait a minute - No, that was Pearl Harbor. I don't think I can remember where I was when I heard about Golden endorsing Liam McCabe - that was either yesterday or the day before, right.

  4. The Coliseum usually has a double feature. I heard it was Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and The Beguiled

  5. I'll bet Chuck Connors went to the Coliseum lots of times.

  6. UPDATE: THE "REMAKE" EDITION

    THEY HAVE REMADE "THE BEGUILED"

It should open soon, but not at the Coliseum; it's now a Temple to the Lord.

  7. The #Qtrain has left the station while Liam and his Manhattan friends figure out how to raise another $4,000 for next filing!

  8. John Alexander is a sad excuse for a reporter.

What did Marty and Q eat at that diner?

Who paid the bill? Did they tip well?

And most importantly, how much caffeine did they feed Marty to stay awake while in such prolonged proximity to Quaglione?

  9. No coincidence that John Alexanderis the same reporter who "impartially moderated" the neutral City Council debate for the Brooklyn GOP, where protocols went out the window when organizers realized Quaglione campaign officials forgot to bring flyers, posters, or campaign stickers ... so all of a sudden, flyers, posters and stickers were forbidden for the other two candidates.

Exactly. .Marty Golden and Ghorra control the GOP and thats exactly why Quaglione will win the nomination no matter what sweet nothings Ghorra and Kassar are telling Liam

  11. A lot of money will be spent by these four candidates to alert voters and get their message across. It's too big a race to be simply a vote-pull operation, where Marty excels.

  12. Marty's vote pull operation is much more myth than reality

  13. Gailykins, your latest post about Kathy Griffin and Bill Maher is one of your most important because it shows you are awake at last.
Tell me this, your immenseness, why did Golden and Q do their endorsement thing on a Friday morning at the wrong end of the campaign process?
A key GOP insider told me this morning that this move at this time violated LIU's Politics 102 course, 'Campaign Fundamentals', in at least three major ways.

  14. UPDATE: THE "MORE 'NOT NEWS' " EDITION

BAG MAN BOB CAPANO IS TAKING ON MAYOR BILL DE BLASIO ABOUT THE PLASTIC BAGS --- YET ONE MORE TIME

TOO BAD BOB CAN NO LONGER BE VIEWED AS A SERIOUS CANDIDATE --- AND ONE OF HIS SIGNATURE ISSUES, ONE ON WHICH HE WORKED LONG AND HARD, NO LONGER MEAN VERY MUCH ANYMORE

It bears repeating --- Bob Capano's recent praise of a completely disgraced former Congressman, Michael Grimm, who is now a federally-convicted felon with many known mob associates; together with Capano's even more recent lending of his name and image to an aspiring political charlatan, Rocky de la Fuerte, makes Capano look like little more than a geek sitting outside of a carnival side-show biting the heads off of chickens to garner attention.

Now, it looks like Capano is doing his geek-show routine to benefit somebody that somehow has convinced some very desperate people in the Brooklyn GOP Coalition that he is "able to run for Mayor"; and that he is, in fact, "running" ( btw, the legal hurdles do appear to be iron-clad and insurmountable for Mr. R-d-l-F).....

Let's make a simple comparison to show the folks out there how far Bob has fallen --- and how fast..... In 2009, Bob ran on a ticket with Mayor Michael Bloomberg, fast forward to a couple of months ago, when it was John Catsimatidis that Bob was touting to be the Republican Mayoral candidate waiting in the wings, with whom he was very-very tight; then last month, it all quickly switched to the newly-minted mayoral candidate Nicole Malliotakis; and now it's Bob's being publicly cozy with ROCKY DE LA FUERTE, who isn't in any way, shape or form a legitimate GOP candidate for mayor.....

Bob needs some new advisers --- or else somebody will start run a video just like the old anti-drug ad with the egg in the frying pan --- it'll go like this: "This is Bob Capano's brain... [you remember the visual & now for the up-dated voice-over:] ".... This is Bob Capano's brain, while he's sitting back in third place and still listening to his original advisers....."]

  15. RESPONSE: THE "WHEN YOU'RE DEALING WITH NYSS MARTY GOLDEN..." EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 9:48 AM"

It's funny, I thought that your "...key GOP insider..." told that to me; and then I told it to you..... Then again, I don't know how many people talk to how many other people, and all of it is about the same thing..... (I hope that you followed that....)

My conversation w/ ykw went more like this: "Right off, for political PR there's about three or four things wrong with this announcement...." After the Captain Obvious stuff, ykw got lost in the political PR weeds. --- Or, more accurately, he lost me in the political PR weeds.

Suffice it to say, the announcement of Marty Golden's endorsement of JQ on a Friday at the beginning of June makes their "newly announced coalition" look weak and trying to leverage >>> petitioners <<< on the eve of petitioning; and the selection of the picture that memorialized the event was less than slipshod, it was PR malpractice.

  16. Galewyn, what do you say, let's put all our past hostility behind us, so we can work together for Liam McCabe.

You can start by settling a disagreement we're having about Q. I know you know a lot about his 2013 campaign, so settle this for us. Some of us want to say Q is "new" to campaigning as a candidate, and some of us want to say that he is "brand new" to campaigning as a candidate. Who is right about the correct way to say it.

  17. The proper phraseology for Quaglione's campaigning can be summed up as follows:

"Take Sominex tonight, and sleep ... sleep ... sleep."

    ReplyDelete
  18. Interesting point. Liam's Manhattan supporters seem far more energized and better compensated for campaigning than any of the actual voters in the district.

  19. Political signage on the business avenues is the passive background of the McCabe and Capano campaigns but Q himself is the the passive background of the Q campaign, and the TA just announced that all of the cars on the Q-train will be sleeper cars.

  20. If the three Republican candidates for City Council from Bay Ridge were sitting in a room that was about to be painted, how could you help to avoid that any of them might be spattered with paint?
Tell Capano and McCabe to move to another room, and cover John Quaglione with a drop cloth.
