Wuxtree !!! Wuxtree !!! Is a Bay Ridge Dem Getting Ready to Jump Into the Brooklyn DA Race --- To run against Hynes, AGAIN

Perhaps the master of "Earned Media" in Brooklyn is on the verge of announcing his entry into the crowded DA race in Brooklyn in order to run against a bunch of former DA Hynes' surrogates, aspirant successors and supporters

"[Except for Vinny Gentile and John Gangemi, n]obody running for DA in Brooklyn in 2017 would have dared run against Hynes in 2013,  because they were all HIS key people; and Gentile and Gangemi were longtime supporters of Hynes "   ---  Democrat [Soon-to-be] Candidate "X"

"If any of the current crop of candidates were on-board with DA Thompson's reforms since his election in 2013, it was only so they could keep their jobs in the DA's office after their boss Hynes lost to him [Kenneth Thompson]"  ---  Democrat [Soon-to-be] Candidate "X"

"I was much closer to Ken Thompson than people know.  We talked about lots of things after his primary and general election wins, after that he even asked me about some personnel moves and my opinion about several bad convictions that were under review and have since been overturned in the court.  I can run my campaign closer to Ken Thompson's than any of the rest of them"  ---  Democrat [Soon-to-be] Candidate "X"

A while back, one of my main Democrat sources for this blog told me that he was considering running for DA of Kings County. Although he had been instrumental in defeating former DA Hynes in the 2013 Democratic Party Primary and he had recently come into some significant personal resources that he said he might throw into the campaign, which he described as being completely different than all his prior campaigns, I really didn't take him seriously.

I dismissed it all, because he had lacked the "typical" experience with criminal justice matters that other former ADAs, Criminal Defense Attorneys and Criminal Court Judges might show in their candidates' resumes for something like DA or an elected judgeship.  He insisted that his personal experiences and successes would go over better with the public all that "experienced prosecutor jazz."

"I hear the train a comin' rollin' round the bendI ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when..."

Some recent events lead me to think things are about to change and soon-to-be Democrat candidate "X" will be making a public entry onto the political stage as a candidate.

The most recent such event happened earlier today.   This future Democrat Candidate "X" gave me a heads-up call that he was going to announce his campaign very soon (he even provided me with some confidential details as to how it would be done and how it would be covered in the press).   Second,  recently, this soon-to-be Dem Candidate "X" has taken on some of the other 2017 DA candidates directly for supporting a fund-raising event for former DA Hynes and other matters (with news about how the roof was ready to fall in on at least one of them). Perhaps most important, soon-to-be Dem Candidate "X" has been going out to many of his former supporters and allies, and it looks like he is in the process of putting together a complete county-wide judicial slate,  with his name on the ticket as the DA candidate.

Also, when I told the person, whom this article is about, that I was going to write this as a feature post,  but that I was going to veil his identity, he answered, "Great, let's see who can figure it out.  Ha, ha, ha, ha !!!"

If I were inclined to give away the veiled object of my post above, I might say, "You win the honorary Captain Obvious award." But I'm not, so I won't.

If I assumed the premise of your question, and I presumed that it was addressed to John O'Hara, and not me, then I'm sure he'd be glad to give you a full set of his petitions once they are finalized. (Ooops, I didn't actually say that, did I ??? Why would I conclude that ???)

  3. Gail, you are just too cool for school.

FYI, in a Daily News article, Democrat activist and long-time Brooklyn DA critic John O’Hara said that Patricia Gatling was the only current Brooklyn DA candidate that attended former DA Joe Hynes’ fund raiser last week -- http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/gala-honoring-ex-brooklyn-da-charles-hynes-draws-outrage-article-1.3190170

Today a group of inner city clergymen sent a letter that says Patricia Gatling is not what is needed in a Kings County DA for their communities -- http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/brooklyn-clergymen-blast-da-candidate-poor-track-record-article-1.3192933

In the letter from the clergymen, they said this too: “This is not merely our opinion. A group of well-respected justice advocates and the Public Advocate of New York City, Letitia James, called for [Gatling] to be fired based on [Gatling’s] poor record as Civil Rights Commissioner. Mayor de Blasio then replaced [Gatling].

  4. Who is Patricia Gatling and who is John O'Hara, and why should I give a hoot?

  6. UPDATE: THE "OTHER MATTERS THAT MATTER" EDITION

IN SPITE OF THE MSM, DNC, RICH FAMILY AND THE WASHINGTON MPD EFFORT TO SHUT DOWN THE SETH RICH MURDER STORY, IT STILL PROCEEDS BY OUTSIDE AGENCIES

ALSO: IN SPITE OF THE FOX NEWS CAVE-IN ON THE STORY, HANNITY DID NOT WITHDRAW OR RESCIND HIS REPORTING ON SETH RICH LAST WEEK --- HE JUST SAID HE WILL BE QUIET ABOUT IT FOR NOW

The latest from a private investigation organization actively involved in following-up on leads that the Washington MPD have NOT pursued, is that a nearby bar frequented by Seth Rich before he died has not had any Washington MPD inquiries to determine when and by whom Seth Rich might have been seen immediately before his death on the night of the murder.

Also, Washington, D.C., mayoral candidates have stated that unless the issues are cleared up, incumbent Mayor Muriel Bowser's part in impeding the Washington MDC police investigation of the Seth Rich murder will be part of the upcoming mayoral campaign.

  7. The Seth Rich story looks like a DC cover up. It also looks like a story that is fading. I feel bad for the family.

  8. If you've ever lived in Washington, DC, you know the street crime in some neighborhoods there is still as bad as NYC in the 1970s. Conspiracies about this dead kid are just plain sad.

  9. 3:02 seems to have it all figured out. When someone says they dont believe in conspiracies its the sign of a person who will never understand politics.

Politics is a series of conspiracies.

  10. 8:56, did you mean John Quaglione, or the Democrat John O'Hara, whose conviction for illegal voting was overturned earlier this year, because the current DA's investigators found witnesses who said their testimony against O'Hara was false and known to be false by the prior prosecutor when it was presented at trial.

  11. UPDATE: THE "MOST IMPORTANT MATTER THAT MATTERS" EDITION

BOB CAPANO DOUBLES-DOWN ON HIS "APPLAUDING... GRIMM" REMARKS --- JULIANNE CUBA'S SEGMENT ABOUT BOB, LIAM AND JOHN Q IN HER "PARTY LINE" COLUMN SHOWS THAT EVERYTHING THAT APPEARED IN MY EARLIER POST AND COMMENTS ON THIS BLOG WAS NOT ONLY CORRECT >>> IT WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT AND MAGNIFICENTLY PRESCIENT <<<

CAPANO AGAIN APPLAUDS A WORTHLESS CONVICTED SCUMBAG -- AND -- HIS GOP OPPONENTS DON'T HAVE THE GUTS OR THE MORAL RECTITUDE TO CALL HIM OUT FOR IT

    >>> SHAME ON ALL OF THEM <<<

Earlier today Bob Capano sent out an E-mail to his "Republican Friends".....

The E-mail said this: "Read this article carefully. 'As I expected, neither of my GOP opponents had the spine to publicly support our President.'..." Then it provided a link to Julianne Cuba's "PArty Line" column in Courier Life's Brooklyn Daily (See "Grimm casts shadow over Ridge Council race" by Julianne Cuba, 5/25/17, Courier Life/ Brooklyn Daily/ Party Line [http://www.brooklyndaily.com/stories/2017/21/pl-party-line-2017-05-26-bk.html]).

Right off the bat, this shows that Bob Capano is from an old school of PR that advocates there is no such thing as "bad publicity," because Bob's E-mail was really about a local paper's political column that was NOT substantively favorable to him in ANY way. The first paragraph in Julianne Cuba's column makes that very clear: "Bay Ridge Republican Council Candidate Bob Capano applauded disgraced former congressman Michael Grimm for calling on President Trump to go on the attack in the face of condemnation from the public and the media...." In addition, by linking to that piece, Capano showed: a) either a willingness to wallow in his own failures; or b) even worse, no ability to recognize his own blunders even after they have been pointed out and commented upon by many. Or as one consultant described it, "... He shows everybody that he has a 'I don't give a shit' attitude..."

Nonetheless, Julianne Cuba's article also showed up Capano's opponents, John QUaglione and Liam McCabe, as being a pair of moral pygmies. They are quoted in Cuba's column in very muted terms criticizing Bob for focusing national and not local issues. It's positively disgusting that neither of them thought it mattered one bit that their fellow GOP candidate chose to applaud a "local" publicly disgraced and deposed former office holder, who admitted committing several very serious crimes in a disgraceful plea of guilty.

  12. Gaily baby, what a sourpuss you been lately. You got to cut these guys some slack, things are very tough in Brooklyn for the GOP and the very few remaining Brooklyn Republicans.
Twenty, twenty-five years ago, Republicans sometimes got nearly 30% of the vote county-wide in Brooklyn, now there getting near 30% of the vote in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights. Capano, Quaglione, McCabe and Miss 20-elections in a row can't find a way to thread the needle there, because there is no needle anymore.

  13. To 9:16. The main reason the Republicans have gone down so quickly is because of the so called Brooklyn conservative party using MG influence as a battering ram and making deals with democrats, same old thing over and over again.

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 11:10 AM"

You are letting your animus [pl: animus, animae/animi & animuses] against Marty Golden and the Conservative Party blind you to the real "main reason" Republicans have gone down so quickly --- it's called "demographics."

If you want a complete exegesis on demographics followed by a detailed breakdown of the demography of Southwest Brooklyn (now mostly the 46th & 47th ADs), ply Ron D'Angelo with a few adult beverages. After you are up to speed on the demographics, then ask him about Marty Golden and the Conservative Party; you'll get an ear-full on that/those too.

  15. Demographics shmemographics Even Dan Donovan won Bay Ridge in last congressional and almost beat Gentile here in special election. no animosity more like neutral observation.

  16. UPDATE, CORRECTION, ADDENDUM... WHATEVER: THE "WE WUZ YUUUUZZZED" EDITION

MY SOURCE GAVE ME A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THIS --- MINUS ONE FACT, HE IS RUNNING FOR CIVIL COURT JUDGE IN BROOKLYN NOT BROOKLYN DA

HE HAS A LOT OF EXPLANATIONS AS TO WHY THIS IS BETTER AT THIS TIME, BUT I'LL SPARE YOU & YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL

According to an article appearing in the NY Law Journal on line edition, "Brooklyn attorney John O'Hara, the first person charged with illegal voting since 1873, when Susan B. Anthony cast a vote before women were legally allowed to do so, has over the past several years been reinstated to the bar and had his name cleared.... Now O'Hara is setting his sights on a new challenge: He wants to lead a slate of insurgent candidates to run this year in the Democratic primary for open seats on the bench in Brooklyn Civil Court.... 'Better to be a judge than be judged,' said O'Hara, who said he could 'bring a perspective to the bench that no one else brings.'... O'Hara, who was indicted on the illegal voting charge in 1996, was reinstated to the bar in 2009. His conviction was thrown out in January.
O'Hara and the other hopefuls on his slate are eschewing the endorsement of the Brooklyn Democratic Party, which essentially enjoys one-party rule in the borough...." 17. UPDATE: THE "MAN OF NO CONVICTION" EDITION

NOW, A MAN OF NO CONVICTION IS READY TO TURN THE TABLES, OR AT LEAST RESET THEM ACCORDING TO A BLOG FOR THE VERY LATEST NEWS REGARDING... PARDONS AND THE PARDON POWER AS EXERCISED IN EACH STATE

USUALLY WHEN YOU SAY SOMEBODY HAS NO CONVICTION IT'S A BAD THING --- BUT NOT ALWAYS --- AND WHEN TALKING ABOUT JOHN K. O'HARA, IT IS ONE OF THOSE NOT ALWAYS SITUATIONS

The internet site pardonpower.com had this headline: "SATURDAY, MAY 27, 2017 -- New York: O'Hara Turns the Tables" and followed that with a quoted passage from the New York Law Journal article cited in my comment above. Then the writer for pardonpower.com continued with this: ".... Readers of the blog are aware that O'Hara was indicted on the illegal voting charge in 1996, but reinstated to the bar in 2009. His conviction was then thrown out. See previous posts here.... O'Hara will file papers to become a candidate and needs at least 4,000 valid signatures on a petition. See story here." Ruckman, Jr., 5/27/17, Pardon Power/ pardonpower.com [http://www.pardonpower.com/2017/05/new-york-ohara-turns-tables.html]).
