[Let’s pretend that I put in all the lyrics to “Something’s Coming” from “West Side Story” -- right here]
The dueling fund raisers might be a >>> make-or-break
moment <<< in the campaigns of either or both of these Republican candidates
for the City Council from the 43rd District
John Quaglione’s fund raising event is the one at Positano with
the “big ticket” pricing; the “Tickets” to
Johnny Cake's bash are going for $125.00 and $250.00.
Liam McCabe’s affair seems a little more down-home and
open-ended at Chef Andrea’s on 13th Avenue.
Quaglione obviously likes to take-in his $$$$ donations in
big gulps, just like his boss. However, as one of my old friends, back in
the day, liked to say --- “The question begs…” --- Actually
“The questions beg...” --- How many high-rollers will fork-over the
bigger $$$$ in exchange for the good veal ? ? ?
--- AND --- What
would Quaglione’s higher-rolling guests be expecting to get for their $250
& $125 investments in intra-party Republican democracy ? ? ?
On the other hand, tomorrow
night’s money-grubber (get the double use of “grubber” ?) will go a ways to answer some of the questions
about McCabe’s abilities to drum-up campaign $$$$..... Those
questions are somewhat more straight-forward than the ones directed at/to Quaglione, above. How many of the folks behind McCabe’s more
populist-style campaign are willing to put their money where Will/Liam’s mouth
is ? ? ? --- AND
--- What will McCabe’s net-take-away in available primary campaign spendolas be ? ? ?
The 20 or so usual suspect slumlord Golden contributors have already reserved their tickets to Quaglione's fundraiser.
ReplyDeleteQuaglione's list of money people could be an issue for a whole campaign for any Dem but Abbate. For John Q's sake, his resulting campaign balances better make it all worth while.
ReplyDeleteI will tell you this much, loyal readers, Liam McCabe is prepared for war. Looking like a bloated Richard Spencer with his new National Policy Institute haircut, I predict Lord Liam will make a strategic play for the otherwise hard to reach white nationalist vote in the Dyker Heights area. It may be the only path to victory for this blue-eyed wayward son of the Fourth Reich.
ReplyDeleteAbate and his sneaky pension grab will be the reason why Councilman McCabe will crusie to victory.
ReplyDeleteIt's all over but the shouting. Abbate will crush his rivals in the primary like cockroaches, then roll over whoever is the Republican candidate with the conservatives laughing all the way to the bank.
ReplyDeleteJustin will win the primary but lose the election to councilman McCabe since Abbate will still be on WFP line
ReplyDeleteJustin will keep dreaming that he will finish any better than third place in the Primary, and by 9:30 on primary night he will be promising Dept of Ed officials that he'll stop spending his entire work day on social media if they just give him one more chance.
ReplyDeleteThe only person to leave his government position to run is councilman McCabe
ReplyDeleteI want to hear more about the issues that matter like Liam and his new Richard Spencer haircut.
ReplyDeleteTo 7:30 PM
ReplyDeleteit was not hard for McCabe to leave his job with Donovan being that it was a part-time situation where he fixed Donovan's coffee and hung outside Krispy Pizza smoking Berry Bash vape
I just saw Capano posted a video on Facebook of Curtis Sliwa rambling on for 20 minutes at the Bean Post to a crowd of *MAYBE* 25 people. Why no video of Capano's big speech?
ReplyDeleteCan we just take a brief moment from this rock'em sock'em council race to the Mayors contest. I've heard Paul Massey speak and believe me once is enough. The only question is how much of his so called money will he be putting in ?
ReplyDelete10 million is a race.
Liam doesn't vape but he does go snowboarding. Let record reflect that fact.
ReplyDeleteEMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT: THE "THIS CAN'T BE AS RIDICULOUSLY FUNNY AS IT SOUNDS... AND PLEASE SEND HELP" EDITION
ReplyDeleteSUPPOSEDLY HEARD AT THE KASSENBROCK LUNCHEON --- BUT, I REALLY THINK THAT SOMEBODY IS GENTLY PULLING MY THIRD LEG ON THIS ONE
Can I please get a second source from anybody that might confirm or deny that the Rev. El-Yateem and Bob Quaglione were in their own little world at the Kassenbrock Luncheon striking up some kind of deal to help each other in their respective primary campaigns.....
If I don't answer my phone, please send EMS, because I think I might laugh myself to death over this one --- at least it will be a "Happy Ending" for me.
UPDATE TO MY LAST: THE "QUAGLIONE TWEET GIVES ME PARTIAL CONFIRMATION" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTHIS FROM JOHN Q ON TWITTER:
"Glad to support the Kassenbrock Bros. Scholarship fundraising luncheon today. I can't believe it's been 20 years since I was awarded it!"
Maybe, his next Tweet will have more about his thing with El-Yateem at the Kassenbrock lunch.....
What happened at Kassenbrock luncheon is El-Yateem was with his team. Quaglione was all alone.
ReplyDeleteTong wore a thong. Capano played the piano.
Where is our big blog administrator Gailwind? 'Tong wore a thong' is sexist and hateful and needs to be 'moderated'.
ReplyDeleteI hear Quaglione expecting 250 people tonite!
ReplyDeleteQuaglione will show McCabe tonight how a real fundraiser is done..
ReplyDeleteIf you bar the entry of the usual local slumlord contributors to Golden, Quaglione would be speaking to an empty room.
ReplyDeleteIf you watch carefully this evening, workers will wheel Quaglione into the event on a handtruck, prop him up in the corner, at which point the shaman will reanimate him so he can give his pep talk before reverting back to a block of wood.
ReplyDeleteI think there is a word for what you are describing, 'GOLEM.' It's from Jewish folklore, so -- Icksnay on the Amanshay...
ReplyDeleteJohn Orlando will show all the other "purpoted" Brooklyn Republican consultants how to run & win a campaign.
ReplyDeleteTo 12:07. Well it's only fair then because last time he sure showed them how to not run a campaign and how to lose an election in even more embarrassing fashion than Bob Capano.
ReplyDeleteGolems were made from clay. Q is just a dull block of wood.
ReplyDeleteNo shaman or religious leader of any sect can do much for him.
Yes, I was at the sparsely attended Kassenbrocth lunch on Sundee and I did witness Quaglione and Pastor El-Sarsour speaking in hushed tones in a corner near the "secret" bathroom in the back of the opulently grand Bay Ridge Manor ballroom. I was not privy to the topic of their conversation though I assumed it was about Liam's new "alt-right" hairdo. Or should I say, hair-don't.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone get a total count of how many corny "Q 4 U" jokes John Orlando made tonight? Asking for a friend.
ReplyDeleteI persnally enjoyed Hearing Johnny Orlando talk about social media. He sounded like my grandfather. Something about Linked In. Yes, LinkedIn will win this race !
ReplyDeleteUPDATE: THE "MY RECON OPERATION AT TWO FUND RAISERS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteI DROPPED IN ON THE FOLKS AT POSITANO AND ABOUT A HALF HOUR LATER STOPPED BY AT CHEF ANDREA'S; FROM WHAT I SAW [AND COUNTED] TOGETHER THEY DIDN'T ADD UP TO THE CROWD BOB CAPANO HAD AT THE BEAN POST A WEEK AGO
Here's what I saw and heard.....
First, at Positano, I went up to the check-in table for the John Quaglione event and asked if I could come in if my name wasn't on the list. A nice woman told me sure, we'll just add you to the list. I asked how much it was and she told me $125.00 (I was surprised that it wasn't $150.00). When I said I thought that $125.00 was too high, she then said "Give whatever you think you should..." I apologized for taking her time and left right behind Ted General, who had just passed by. While I was there, I estimated that there were about fifty people in the room. After I went outside, and finished talking to Ted General, I actually counted the room from two vantage points, which was to the right hand side of Positano as you enter and the number of people, which I could see form outside was forty-six (46) [my first count was 47 and the second was 45 -- so I settled on 46].....
About a half hour later, I walked into the long, narrow restaurant that is called "Chef Andrea's," where Will/Liam McCabe was holding HIS fund raiser. I was quite surprised that Mr. McCabe's soiree obviously had more people in it than Quaglione's at about the same time. I did a quick count and I was up to about 60 when Christine Sisto gave me and my date a big hello. Later on I counted nine people along a wall that was behind a part of that side's wall that jutted out and blocked my earlier view. So my best estimate is that Liam's crowd was about 65 to 70, maybe 75. More important, were the guests at Liam McCabe's event, including one current NY State Chairman, two current County Chairmen and a State Senator.
I won't get into the speeches, but my date said, "Is it me, but aren't these speeches getting worse as the years go by...."
I guess, the next big moment is when all these candidates make their next financial filings --- then we'll see who drummed up the most modest, the bigger and the biggest hauls.
Gale when you say "a State Senator" are you referring to the 49 minute bumbling David Storobin? If so, why does anyone refer to him as a Senator...he lasted only, what 7 days, and then they threw his seat out, and Golden and Kassar gave is seat to a Dem....you cant make this stuff up.....
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is that even Storobin knows the Conservatives sold him down the river in the OTB Opportunity to Ballot races that Felder won, he has no where else to go so he pretends the Conservatives are his patrons. Sad.
ReplyDeleteI heard Liam rolled out the Donovan endorsement way early to distract people from his poorly attended fund raiser. I have no clue why he keeps trotting Storobin out. There isn't a single person who cares about Storobin. Only Storobin cares about Storobin. As for me, I'm voting for Quaglione.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "YOU ARE TROLLING AT A SPOT THAT THE PARADE PASSED-BY" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 8:47 PM"
Your comment is not only poorly reasoned and your expressed voting choice problematically premature, it is all poorly placed. This stuff is being discussed in a later post than the one immediately above. In other words, you are a day late and a pound short.
Also, you start off by losing all credibility by saying McCabe's fund raiser at Chef Andrea's was "poorly attended." I was there and have reported both in the comment above and in a later longer post that it was pretty well attended, because it was.
I also noted in my later post that the whole thing presented by McCabe's campaign at Chef Andrea's on 13th Avenue seemed pretty professionally done. He showed off good posters, flashy buttons and a very well produced piece of glossy color literature.
AND THEN THE DAY AFTER HIS BIG NIGHT, SHOWING OFF ALL THE CONSERVATIVE LEADERS RELEVANT TO HIS DISTRICT ALONG WITH GOP COUNTY LEADER TED GHORRA --- WILL/LIAM MC CABE ROLLED OUT A MAJOR ENDORSEMENT >>> THE LOCAL GOP CONGRESSMAN DAN DONOVAN.
THAT ALL LOOKS LIKE A WIN-WIN FOR MC CABE TO ME.....
