CAPANO CITES EXPERIENCE OF MAYOR OF AUSTIN, TEXAS ---
FOR AN EFFECTIVE INTERVENTION ON BEHALF OF HOMELESS VETS
A GUEST -- FOLLOWING-UP ON BOB CAPANO'S INTERVIEW ON THE "CAT'S ROUNTABLE" RADIO SHOW -- DISCUSSES SUCCESSFUL CITY PROGRAM FINDING HOMES FOR "HOMELESS VETS"
***** Sticking with the issue of homelessness, Brooklyn Republican
City Council candidate Bob Capano indicates that the conversation needs to include a long look at what seems to have worked elsewhere. Capano's latest news release contains a reference to a very important interview of the Mayor of Austin, Texas --- a follow-up
guest on the very same topic on the radio program where Capano had discussed the matter of homelessness
just the week before *****

CAPANO
SAYS NYC CAN LEARN LESSON ABOUT ADDRESSING HOMELESSNESS FROM AUSTIN, TEXAS.
AUSTIN MAYOR ENDED HOMELESSNESS AMONG
VETS .
{Brooklyn, NY} – Brooklyn’s Bob Capano, a staunch supporter of the
NYPD and the leading Republican City Council candidate for the 43rd
district (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst) race next year, today said
that Mayor de Blasio should look to Austin, Texas to help him address the
return of the homeless crisis under his tenure. The mayor of Austin, Steve
Adler, has been credited with ending homelessness among veterans in his
city over the past several years.
Adler, who was a guest yesterday on The Cats’
Roundtable, the Sunday morning radio show hosted by successful
businessman and former NYC mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis on 970 AM-
The Answer, said "we had a debt to these folks, and we were in a
position to do something about it and it began with literally putting
everybody in the same room at the same time where we had the capacity to
solve the problem. And we closed the door and said let's not leave here
until we do." Currently in Austin, any veteran identified as homeless
has a guarantee of a home.
Capano, who was himself a guest on The Cats' Roundtable the
previous week where he highlighted the increase of homelessness and
homeless encampments on New York City streets said, "The
administration in Austin, Texas proves that by making it a priority
homelessness can be addressed. Mayor Adler brought together the real estate
industry, business and community groups to work together to reduce
homelessness." Capano noted that his father was a veteran, and that
his uncle died from injuries sustained in Vietnam.
Capano added that the number of complaints to 311 about
homelessness in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights increased by 50% last year and
that "Brooklynites and New Yorkers are legitimately concerned about
aggressive panhandling, unsanitary conditions, and the safety of their
children with the rise of makeshift homes and the homeless population.
Unfortunately, this is just another example of the quality of life gains
made in our city being reversed under this Mayor and City Council."
It has been publicly reported that the city's homeless population is
at a record-high.

So now if you are a Vet the government will give you free health care and housing?
ReplyDeleteAmazing !!
Can you imagine what the Vets would get if they actually won one of these wars.
It's the GOVERNMENT's pay-off to vets for NOT LETTING them WIN their wars like their grandfathers --- and THEN not coming back enraged to OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT.
ReplyDeleteMcCabe has been spending more time talking about homeless cats and dogs than homeless veterans lately.
ReplyDeleteMcCabe will crush Capano & Quag like grapes
ReplyDeleteOh no, that sounds messy!
ReplyDeletePolls show Trump is turning this race around. His kids look like extras from The Stepford Wives
ReplyDeleteYes Capano is way outside the box talking about Bay Ridge issues while he lives on Staten Island.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "YES, YOU ARE A BANANA" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID AT... 10:24 AM"
CLEARLY, YOU DID NOT FOLLOW THE LITTERAL MEANING OF THE "OUTSIDE THE BOX" MEME --- IT REFERRED TO BOB CAPANO'S POSITIVE REFERENCE TO THE EXPERIENCE OF A MAYOR FROM TEXAS IN DEALING WITH A PARTICULAR SUBSET OF THE LOCAL HOMELESS PROBLEM --- HOMELESS VETERANS
THEN AGAIN, YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN REACTING TO THE MORE SUBTLE MEANING OF "OUTSIDE THE BOX" --- A REFERENCE TO THE REMARKS OF A COMMENT MAKER TO ANOTHER POST, WHO HELD UP "WILL [LIAM]" MCCABE AS SOMEONE THINKING "OUTSIDE THE BOX" BY BECOMING SO PERSONALLY INVOLVED IN THE ISSUES OF THE HOMELESS NOW POPPING-UP ALL AROUND
Whatever "...10:24 AM's" motivations and/or misunderstandings might be, that commenter wins the rotten banana for his mis-characterization of Bob Capano as somebody that is not in completely in touch with Bay Ridge. The simple reality is that Bob was born and raised in Bay Ridge, and has done virtually all of HIS own personal politics in the context of Bay Ridge REPUBLICAN politics --- and that includes his current campaign for City Council from Bay Ridge and surrounding neighborhoods.
Furthermore, on the issues related to the growing homelessness problem in Bay Ridge --- Bob Capano has directed his observations and criticisms in the direction of Mayor de Blasio and his handling of the growing city-wide homeless calamity.
GM Bob has lived on Staten Island for about six years and continues to live there while "shopping" for a district where he can run for office. None of your fanciful explanations change this fact.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "USUALLY, 'ONCE BURNED --TWICE SHY' " EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 10:24 AM" & "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 12;15PM"
... BUT IN YOUR CASE OBVIOUSLY NOT !!!!!
You keep gnawing on this SI thing like a bone --- just the way one of "Will [Liam]" McCabe's homeless dogs would, if the aforesaid "Will [Liam]" McCabe were ever to toss a bone to one of the objects of his bounty while they were still alive.....
Bob Capano is certainly as >>> Bay Ridge <<< and >>> Brooklyn <<< as either John Quaglione or "Will [Liam]" McCabe..... Anybody that's been involved in Brooklyn GOP politics would know that. Furthermore, Capano's Brooklyn GOP roots are deeper and stronger than Quglione's; and of course "Will [Liam]" McCabe has no Brooklyn GOP roots of any kind.
BTW, I'm going to start calling "Will [Liam]" McCabe >>> "BALTO" <<< Can anybody guess why ?????
It seems capano is very comfortable letting voters decide who is more GOP Brooklyn him or Mccabe
ReplyDeleteBob can't be that comfortable he won't leave Craig's side at events because no one knows him or recognizes him. That's what happens when you've been gone for six years and don't come back to visit until you want to run for office.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "I DON'T GET AROUND MUCH ANYORE" EDITION
ReplyDelete... BUT I STILL GET BUGGED BY "NO-SEE-UM" GNATS
TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 4:02 PM"
Lately, I've pretty much been chained to this computer, so I'm not out in the social scene the way some other people are, but I still get out a little (in fact, I'm up on the avenues most days).
One person that I do remember seeing round Bay Ridge and other spots in Brooklyn was Bob Capano. I clearly remember him since as far back as 2007, More recently, in 2013, 2014 and 2015 I've seen him at many political events. Certainly, Bob has received a fair share of mention in the local press for a very long time, and that seems to be continuing.
Frankly, since 2007, I've seen Bob around the old neighborhood a lot more than I've seen "Will [Liam]" McCabe and John Quaglione, and both of them are supposed to have full-time political patronage jobs here working out in the "community"(maybe, they're really "NO-SHOW" jobs). As far as I'm concerned McCabe and Quaglione are like those annoying tiny gnats --- they're called "no-see-ums."
I hear Capano even know realizes Eaton is the kiss of death in any race. You won't be seeing them together.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "NOBODY THAT I'M TALKING TO SAYS THAT" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 7:28 AM"
I'm sure that you meant to write, "I hear Capano even >>>NOW<<< realizes..." instead of "I hear Capano even know realizes... However, even as corrected, I think that you have it all wrong and backwards (I think it's called a contrapositive proposition to what is true and correct).
Enough about the formalities, here are the facts as they were told to me: 1) Eaton and Capano are completely on the same page wrt Capano's going after the 2017 GOP City Council nomination for the 43rd Counc. Dist. seat; 2) the current plan is for Eaton to have a bigger and more formal position in Capano's campaign; and 3) the Capano run is part of a bigger city-wide operation for slates inside the GOP for the 2017 Municipal Elections.
I am not supporting capano, but i do not think he is completely stupid. .lets see if what you say is true!!
ReplyDeleteIf it is, Marty Golden is celebrating tonight as Capano will have no shot
RESPONSE: THE "SOMETIMES I CAN'T MAKE HEADS NOR TAILS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 2:38 PM"
I'll make this simple. What the hell are you talking about ?????
I think one thing 2:38 is saying is Golden is against cCapano and that Eaton's support of Capano is some kind of kiss of death.
ReplyDeleteI read this blog every now and then and keep seeing posts here and there attacking Eaton and his reputation and integrity. You guys are missing one fact and you need to recognize some facts. Eaton was a successful Chairman for almost 9 years, winning races, winning special elections, holding great events, raising money and opening a storefront County HQ.
ReplyDeleteThat all was destroyed and the Brooklyn GOP died when Golden changed the Commissioner under the cover of night, and then threatened all the BOE employees with their jobs if they didnt toe the line and support his candidate for Chair or should we say, putz and stooge for Chair, like Hot Dog Timmy (by the way, I heard he moved to a far away county) and Non Worker Ghorra. Ghorra didnt even go to the GOP Convention - I heard he wouldnt spend his own money. Pal, you are in the wrong game if you think Golden is ever going to help you with $$$ - all he will do is make you hold evertyhig at the good old Bay Ridge Manor...Oh, you are alreadt doing that Ghorra, arent you? You must have drank the Golden-Manor Koool Aid.
I was very active in the Brooklyn GOP during Eaton's tenure as Chair and he really gave his heart and soul to that job. He spent hours each and every day working for the Party, so much so, that he was elected the Vice Chair for the State GOP for all of NYC. You can say all you want about Eaton, but he was the best Chair we had in years, and he only left because of the untimely death of his young sister who left three very young children and both of his parents from a car accident, all in one year. If not for that he would still be chairman now and he would be kicking Goldens 65 year old ass.
HEY WATCH WHAT YOU SAY: THE "I WISH I STIL HAD A 65 YEAR OLD ASS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteYOUTH IS WASTED ON THE YOUNG
AND SOMETHING THAT STILL NEEDS SAYING
Eaton let Marty Golden, Jerry Kassar and Mike Long get away with too much during an overly long honeymoon with the State Senator from his home district.... To much Cathedral Club nonsense as well.....
As a result, the Brooklyn GOP has been and remains on the immoral side of the pedophile issue --- protecting the perps and enablers, and allowing them to stay active. On this issue, the leadership of the Dems is far better.
You are 100% correct, but it still worked. Golden owes some debt to Long and Kassar. Maybe they have something on him which makes him keep sucking up to them, but Eaton worked with them amicably, and was still able to build and grow the Brooklyn GOP. It was only when Eaton flexed his muscles and became a leader in his own right, respected by the State Chair and the Chairs around the State, that Golden needed to force him out. And that would even have been OK if Golden didnt stab him in the back and try to hurt him financially, politically and legally. Golden libeled and slandered Eaton when all the other GOP Leaders in NYC were indicted and really tried to hurt Eaton reputation and integrity. That is a true barometer of a person's soul and their integrity - when they take the gloves off and really try to damage someone for their own self-grandisement, especially when it was a close long time friend - then you really know that person is a piece of >>>>>>.
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "ALRIGHTEE, THEN..." EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... 7:01 AM"
OK, so I guess I'll pencil you in as a "neutral" vis a vis the Eaton-Golden "factions" thing inside the Brooklyn GOP.....
To 6:12 pm
ReplyDeleteSaying "If not for that he (Eaton)would still be chairman now and he would be kicking Goldens 65 year old ass" is just ridiculous. Its like saying if Eaton ran against Golden or had someone against Marty-- Eaton or his person would have run- it did NOT happen because he Eaton knows he could not have won. Eaton should continue to just observe Brooklyn & Bay Ridge GOP from his Harborview Terrace window. Even Eaton former allies are with Marty now. Craig is literally alone politically and all in the know in his home community know it.. it actually is a little sad.
Anonymous at 6:12pm. First you cant be that bright because your computer said it was 6:12pm this morning.
ReplyDeleteSecond, Eaton my friend, is not alone by far. All his DL's and VC's are still with him. Its only those that work at the BOE who fear for their jobs, that still follow Golden....and he has John Cats with him every step of the way. And let us not forget that Golden and Kassar turned on Mr. Cats, which was not a very smart move.
It is funny because you talk a good game, but the facts are the facts. It would not be so funny, but it is quite ironic that you talk about Eaton all the time, yet you and the new GOP are failing. Look at the Brooklyn GOP Facebook page to see the photos of the Meeting they held this morning, where else, at the beautiful Bay Ridge Manor. This was an absolute failure. If you peel away the electeds' staffers, and the BOE employees who fear for their jobs, there were three people there. Ghorra wasnt there, Doherty the "Exec Dir" wasnt there either. But thay all post on FB about it..smoke and mirrors my friends. If they want titles, they need to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
If in fact Golden, Ghorra and the new Brooklyn GOP were so powerful they would have filled the place like Eaton did when he held his schools of politics. Keep smoking whatever it is you are smoking Anonymous at 6;12pm.
So lets talk facts and not just keep libeling and slandering Eaton. If you have any facts to substantiate what you say, please lay them out for everyone.
And please, change you computer's clock.
PS: I wish I could own a house on Harbor View Terrace. I hear it is the best block in Bay Ridge. I even hear Golden would like to live there, but he couldnt afford it.
Didn't Hot Dog Timmy C live on the "good side" of Harbor View Terrace?
ReplyDeleteEaton was a very good Chairman he actually had same probably Golden has now some very dumb reviled people working for him.
ReplyDeleteMEMENTO MORI: THE "ANOTHER THING ABOUT HARBOR VIEW TERRACE" EDITION
ReplyDeleteHarbor View Terrace is where an old wag from Gough's, Jimmy Byrnes, wanted to live if he could be the "bag man" (or as he said it in an old Bay Ridge accent, "Ba-a-a-ag Ma-a-a-an"). His heroes were Willie Sutton, whatever jockey got him "out-a-duh-tent" and "Sa-a-a-al A-a-alllbanesee". All he got for his political efforts was a part-time betting clerk job at OTB.
R.I.P. Jimmy (Magic Dust) Byrnes (Like so many OLPH guys, buried out of OLA)
One thing is for sure, Liam McCabe didn't do any count for homeless people along Harbor View Terrace or along the next lowest cross street, but if he did a few blocks away at 86th & Shore he'd find some about a week back
ReplyDeleteMarty Golden gets along just fine with John C. John is a smart man, he is not going to side with a washed up former chairman over a powerful state senator and all know that!
ReplyDeleteNot only did Liam McCabe not count homeless people at 86th & Shore a while back, I'll bet that John Quaglione didn't know that one of them broke into an apartment building near his house and briefly set up a kip in the basement. That's a real homeless issue.
ReplyDeleteI loved Liam's Facebook posts about getting around the old neighborhood with his son Andrew at Middle School 51 and New Park Pizza. Just what neighborhoods are they? Are they even in Brooklyn?
ReplyDeleteOH! OH! OH! OH! What the heck did Liam McCabe mean when he said he "checked in" to the St. Nicholas home with his son Andrew.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see the "Brooklyn GOP" facebook post that says marty golden spoke to a "standing room only" crowd at the bay ridge manor yesterday at the GOP training session but the photos show empty chairs all around marty speaking? Hilarious..when craig had events throughout the borough it was truly standing room only.
ReplyDeleteI assure you John Cats values friendship and loyalty and thats why he will always be with Craig Eaton. Lets not forgot golden and kassar went after Cats pretty viciously in their support of Lhota in the mayoral primary after cats has supported marty
