"Capano confirms he is running" --- Brooklyn Daily Headline for Story by Julianna Cuba

It wasn't anything like a formal announcement, but....

Also, Bob Capano had a big night at Bay Ridge Manor fete for 68th Precinct honorees

Here's the buzz according to the Courier-Life's political columnist in Brooklyn, Julianne Cuba: "... Bob Capano has been making his rounds lately — firing off op-eds to local papers, meeting with Republican political groups, and flooding inboxes with press releases. Well here’s why: The erstwhile “potential” council candidate announced exclusively to this paper that he will run to replace term-limited Councilman Vincent Gentile (D–Bay Ridge) in the 43[rd City] Council District...."  (See "Capano confirms he is running" by Julianna Cuba, 6/16/16, Courier Life/ Brooklyn Daily/ [http://www.brooklyndaily.com/stories/2016/25/pl-party-line-2016-06-17-bk.html]).

Ms. Cuba's coverage of her lead item continued with this:  "....  The Staten Islander and former Brooklyn borough president staffer [Capano] still has to file the paperwork with the Board of Elections and said he is currently looking for a home in the Brooklyn district (a requirement for the office). He may not rest his head here [in Brooklyn's 43rd Counc. Dist] yet, but he has set his sights on potential rivals.

COVERAGE SHIFTS TO CAPANO'S FUED WITH ISLAMIC ACTIVIST LINDA SARSOUR, A DEMOCRAT MENTIONED TO SUCCEED GENTILE

The Brooklyn Daily piece then shifted gears and gave everybody some red meat material to chew on  ---   "....  Most recently, Capano has been taking it to Linda Sarsour of the Arab-American Association of New York, who is rumored to be seeking the seat as a Democrat....  Capano is demanding Sarsour step down from her post at the association, because she failed to condemn a Palestinian terrorist that killed four in Tel Aviv, Israel on June 8....  'There is no reason in the world for it not to be unequivocally condemned,' Capano said...."

After a brief back & forth by Capano and Sarsour about Palestinians, Muslim worship and Israel; Julianne Cuba closed the Capano portion of her column with this:  "....  'If she didn’t have a long history of making extreme statements and basically supporting violence against Israel, I wouldn’t have said anything,' [Capano] said....   Sarsour declined to comment and did not respond to inquiries whether she would run....  'I am not interested in Bob Capano getting media hits on my back,' [Sarsour] said.

EVEN IF LINDA SARSOUR WASN'T INTERESTED IN COUNTERING BOB'S HITS,  OTHER PEOPLE WERE  ---  LIKE MARTY GOLDEN STAFFER,  JOHN QUAGLIONE  ---  AND AN INTERESTED DEMOCRAT

I have it on very good authority that John Quaglione responded to the Julianne Cuba piece with the following Tweet:
"John Quaglione @JQuaglione         Jun 16
@BobCapano @Julcuba   Capano declaring and setting his sights, from SI, will face a GOP primary before he potentially faces off against a DEM
6:41 PM - 16 Jun 2016"

On another front, a solid source inside the Brooklyn Democratic Party told me this:  "Not that I don't enjoy Capano's attacks on Sarsour but... she isn't running. Capano should be aiming his fire at Peter Abbate...."

MEANWHILE,  EATON & CAPANO WORK THE ROOM AT A BAY RIDGE MANOR 68TH PCT.  EVENT  ---  SHOUT-OUT TO BOB CAPANO BY HONOREE  ---  NEITHER MARTY NOR ANY OF GOLDEN'S USUAL SUBJECTS WERE ANYWHERE IN SIGHT

Last night, many community leaders and police officers from the 68th Precinct were in attendance for a major Bay Ridge event held at the Bay Ridge Manor. It was a farewell party for the Deputy Inspector of the 68 Precinct, Ray Festino, and 68th Pct. Community Council President Ilene Sacco.

Notably, in attendance were Craig Eaton and Bob Capano, who arrived together and sat together.  More important, at various times during the event, they "worked the room" together. Also according to my source, an old Bay Ridge wag, none of the Golden political crew were anywhere to be found.

During her remarks, Ilene Sacco credited Bob Capano with putting together a team ten years ago, that included her and some others in attendance, to help lead the 68th Pct. Community Council when others, whose interests weren't the purest, wanted to take it over.

WHO AMONG THE BROOKLYN GOP CANDIDATES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL IN THE 43RD COUNCIL DISTRICT SPOKE OUT AGAINST THE DE BLASIO ADMINISTRATION'S FORMAL RETREAT IN THE FACE OF RISING CRIME IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS --- BOB CAPANO --- AND HE DID IT DAYS AGO, CALLING IT PART OF THE "POLITICAL CORRECTNESS" ACROSS THE COUNTRY

    HERE'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT:

    ---------------------------

Prospective Brooklyn Republican City Council Candidate Blasts de Blasio's Signing of "Criminal Justice Reform Act"

    ---------------------------

Bob Capano: "Today is a sad day for NYC, it marks the official reversal of 'broken windows' policing"

(Brooklyn, NY) – Bob Capano, a former President of the 68th Precinct Youth Council and prospective Republican City Council candidate for Brooklyn's 43rd district (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst) blasted Mayor de Blasio's signing of the City Council's "Criminal Justice Reform Act" yesterday, which makes numerous quality of life crimes civil rather than criminal offenses.

Capano, who is also an adjunct instructor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice stated, "Today is a sad day for NYC, it marks the official reversal of 'broken windows' policing that has transformed our city from one that was seen as ungovernable under David Dinkins to one of the safest big cities in America. The NYPD needs to make the decisions on how to enforce quality of life crimes, not the City Council. We should not be sending a message that we don't care as much anymore about people urinating in public, violating rules in city parks, and other quality of life crimes. Under this legislation the NYPD is required to move many of these offenses to civil court, where there would be no criminal penalty".

The broken windows theory of policing holds that dealing with minor offenses aggressively will reduce the number of more serious crimes.

Capano added, "If the message coming from City Hall to cops is we do not want you to take quality of life offenses seriously, why should they make the extra effort to stop them when they know the Mayor and City Council will not have their backs. This is a slippery slope moving us from the safe, clean, and peaceful streets we had under Mayors Giuliani and Bloomberg back to the bad old days of David Dinkins when many New Yorkers feared walking in their neighborhoods at night, could not go to parks because they were hang-outs for gangs, could not walk the streets without the smell of urine, and would see graffiti at every corner." He noted that a recent Quinnipiac poll revealed that 53% of New Yorkers disapprove of Mayor de Blasio's handling of crime, and a poll that shows a majority of Brooklynites feel "less safe".

Capano, who has made the criminal justice policies of Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and Mayor de Blasio a central focus of his probable City Council campaign said, "Unfortunately, rank and file police officers in cities across our country are pulling back on their approach to law enforcement because of political correctness. This new law is yet another example."

  2. If Capano's only opposition for the GOP nomination is Quaglione, it will be a walkover for Bob Capano.

I'd say that Quaglione has a little voice in the Brooklyn GOP, except that he has no voice at all. Even Will McCabe, who isn't even a Republican, has more friends inside the Brooklyn Republican Party.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Quaglione tweeted out his resentment bout capanos coverage in the brooklyn paper and about his attendance at the 68 cmty council and capano getting mentioned publicly by the honoree for putting in her position 10 years ago with the council even though as usual quaglione was not there, nor was willie mccabe

  5. We need someone like capano speaking out on this sarsour issue. All other republicans including Golden and his flacks quaglione and mccabe are silent, they are more of the same politically correct back bench staffers who are afraid to say this is not the same bay ridge.. i dont care where capano lives right now, he lived here for almost his whole life and even over the past weeks attended more bay ridge events than quaglione

    ReplyDelete
  6. To be fair, Liam blasted Sarsour on Twitter and they had a lively exchange. Bob's fetish with Sarsour shows he is out of touch because no one in Bay Ridge takes her seriously aside from her paid minions.

    ReplyDelete
  7. We the silent majority of bay ridge think she should have no public role. Thank you bob for having the guts to so publicly stand up for us.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I am not the biggest capano fan, but do not automatically oppose him like some here, and do agree with 843am that few take darsour seriously. However, the fact that local newspapers and blogs, including commenters above talk about capano whenever he says something about Sarsour demonsrates Capano knows how to work the press and PR generating issues. This issue specifially, is a home run with republican primary voters in bay ridge and dyker heights. To be fair, it seems like some of the comments above may be just sour grapes on the part of possible capano opponents that he is the only possible city council candidate getting any local media attention, and very significant coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Aside from people on her payroll, Linda is a nobody even in her own community. If Bob Capano lived in Bay Ridge the last five years --instead of the house he owns on Staten Island-- he would know that.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Someone is keeping very close tabs on where bob lives and the amount of time where, althought i am not sure about the "5 years"..are you one of those democratic trackers that have been making news lately for following a candidate and their family home??
    Hahah

    ReplyDelete
  11. Obviously 955am is either a political amateur or are so threatened by capanos candidacy they cant admit the obvious. I am not saying you are incorrect abour sarsour is somebody or "nobody" or whether people take her seriously or not, all i am saying is capano hitting her gets him press and is popular with republican primary voters, which is his target audience for now.. is that clear and simple enough for you to comprehend? ?

  12. RESPONSE: THE "FRIENDLY DISCUSSION" EDITION

There seems to be a little dispute going on here about this & that --- HMMMM, EXCELLENT !!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Actually Linda Sarsour is popular with her employees and the New York Times and that is about it. She's not even popular in the Arab community they were on to her dog and pony show long before Bob. Sorry to upset Bob's supporters, but the fact that Bob has been living in Staten Island for five years is fair game. He's been gone a long time. He ran for County Committee on Staten Island and barely won. I think that result had a lot more to do with his sudden concern for the well being of the constituents of the 43rd Councilmanic District than anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Why does it matter that Eaton was with Capano?? All in the know know Eaton has been and is irrelevent from the Brooklyn GOP. Is Capano that desperate that he is with Eaton? Ted Ghorra will choose the GOP city council candidate not Eaton.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 142 pm, please attach links to any stories of anyone other than bob condemning her "dog and pony" show. I have not seen any. So again, if you can not, publicly and perception wise capano is the only one seen speaking out against her.

All of this chit-chat is nice; it shows how friendly & well behaved everybody is....

Also, it shows that many people do have subtle senses of humor.

To correct or clarify on one comment above, "Anonymous said... at 9:50PM" mentioned something about a previous comment being deleted .... certainly not in this thread of comments....

Recently, a couple of items were taken down on (an)other post(s) by an overzealous operative of mine --- perhaps (an) error(s) was (were) made --- but it was all for (a) reason(s) unrelated to anything being expressed hereinabove....

  23. I wish 1038pm would just say which person he/she supports for city council rather than just taking shots at capano. Now that would be fair. Saying anybody but capano or someone who lives in district right now is weak. .come on be a real man or woman and name your candidate...

Right now Capano is the GOP council standard bearer as noone else announced they are running so guess this to be expected, goes with being the front runner i guess...ahahahah

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ted Ghorra doesn't get to pick what tie he wears to political events, let alone a city council candidate.

  25. Brooklyn GOP leaders go to Ghorra meetings, respect him, and see him as their leader.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Only one GOP "leader" might go to a what you call "Ghorra meetings"... and his INITIALS ARE ... Marty Golden

    ReplyDelete
  27. Much as some of you would like to pretend that Capano lives a couple of blocks outside the district, he actually lives in another borough and has for several years. This will be a major weakness no matter how hard his supporters try to gloss it over.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Again 935 am..who is your candidate???????????

    ReplyDelete
  36. So much for 852 pm comment!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I understand Capano's approach going after Sansour she's an easy target but Capano will have to face a virtual gauntlet of GOP primary opponents if he were to move back to Bay Ridge and run and I am hearing Golden himself may be amongst those primary opponents!! You heard it here first ladies and germs!!! Capano doesn't stand a chance. The only people who even know the name Bob Capano are the 4 people who post on this blog under 15 different aliases. Still only four people. Let us take a minute to reflect on reality, ladies and germs and that is unless Marty Golden the 800 LB gorilla runs, John F. Quaglione will likely be the GOP nominee because he gets right of first refusal because he ran in 2013. I think Quagluone will run and he will lose to JUstin Brennan. That is my prediction. Las Vegas odds. I could also see Kevin Carol cutting a deal to be the GOP candidate. Carol is barely a Democrat anyhow and he is close with Fran Vella.

CAPANO KEEPS SPEAKING-OUT ABOUT ISSUES THAT DO MATTER --- LIKE THE FOLLOWING:
    __________________________

    "NEWS RELEASE

    JUNE 21, 2016
    CONTACT: BOB CAPANO
    xxx-xxx-xxxx

CAPANO SAYS "STOP THE GAMES & JUST TRASH THE FEE"

City Council Committee Votes to Delay five-cent fee on bags to Feb, 2017

{Brooklyn, NY} – Bob Capano, a manager of a Gristedes supermarket who has been a leading opponent of the NYC law that would charge shoppers five cents for every bag used, today said that while yesterday's vote by the City Council's Sanitation and Solid Waste Management committee to delay implementation of the bag fee from October, 2016 to February, 2017 is a step in the right direction the Council "should stop the games and just trash the fee entirely".

Capano, who is fully expected to run for Brooklyn's 43rd City Council district (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst) when it is vacant next year said, "It is unfortunate that it takes a mass public cry of outrage for the City Council to reverse course on a policy that we knew was ill-advised from day one. Contrary to what supporters of this law say, plastic bags are both re-usable and recyclable. We should be expanding our education and recycling efforts not looking for more ways to nickel and dime New Yorkers".

The state senate recently passed a bill (S.7336) that "establishes a prohibition on the imposition of any tax, fee or local charge on carry out merchandise bags" across the state that would kill the New York City law. Shortly thereafter the Speaker of the City Council and Assembly Speaker announced this agreement to delay implementation of the city law to work on a compromise.

The city legislation would require retail stores to charge shoppers five cents for each bag or face fines up to $500. Capano noted that supporters of this legislation claim that plastic bags are “single-use” but he said studies show 90% of people reuse these bags for household purposes. Capano also said that plastic bags comprise less than 2% of the New York City waste stream and that the plastic bag industry employs over 30,000 Americans, with about 1,800 working families in New York State relying on the plastic bag manufacturing and recycling sectors for their paychecks, while “reusable” bags are mostly produced overseas.

Capano has appeared on Good Day New York with Greg Kelly and Rosanna Scotto, Curtis Sliwa’s Drive at Five radio show on WABC, NY1, Channel 7, Channel 9, and Channel 2 news expressing public opposition to the bag fee. He also submitted testimony to the City Council opposing the law that narrowly passed 28-20 last month."

John Quaglione & Will McCabe aren't really candidates for anything. Not only do they have no support, they aren't presenting themselves as candidates anywhere during this year's political season....

With one year out from the next "scheduled" NY City Council elections, any prospective candidate should be out there talking up the next race --- trying to get some buzz going. --- Why, just the other night, Bob Capano worked the CB #10 meeting at Shore Hill & talked about his running for the NYC Council. Were Quaglione & McCabe there ??? No !!!

Where were Quaglione & McCabe ???

  49. UPDATE: THE "LITTLE CONSERVATIVE THAT COULD" EDITION

    "I think I can -- I think I can -- I think I can..."

A usually reliable source has told me that Will/Liam McCabe considers himself a serious candidate for City Council.... [I'll give you a few moments to let that sink in]

His plan includes two alternative thoughts about Wilson-Pakula. The first, which McCabe considers more likely, is that there will be a vacancy and a special election that doesn't call for any party endorsement. The second, which McCabe says he is also is prepared for, would be to obtain the W-P with the full support of all the Republican elected officials.

For some reason, McCabe believes that he already has the full support of Congressman Dan Donovan to be the next GOP nominee for any run for the City Council form the Brooklyn part of Donovan's congressional district.

BTW, one of the reasons given by Liam McCabe for his wanting to run for Gentile's council seat is that it's his turn.....

    ReplyDelete
  50. Craig Eaton is a has been..

    ReplyDelete
  51. Even though Ted Ghorra will probably be declared party chairman by a judge Craig Eaton is still the most respected person in the Brooklyn GOP. A lot of people who went against Craig at the convention so did so out of fear of reprisals from Team Golden. Bay Ridge Republicans aren't really rooting for Marty, he has a good alternative, and that is Frank Seddio is rooting for him.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yes, craig is still very much respected in the brooklyn GOP. He does not need N official title to have the loyalty and friendship of GOP leaders.

"NOT FOR ATTRIBUTION" --- "DEEP BACKGROUND" --- "IF YOU TELL ANYBODY I SAID THIS, I'LL DENY IT"

WHAT'S MORE I WON'T EVER TELL --- UNLESS IT'S AFTER A DECENT INTERVAL --- FOR DRINKS & DINNER & FLOWERS WITH A NICE CARD THE NEXT DAY

Somebody sent me the following in an E-mail: ".... Obviously [John Quaglione] and [Liam McCabe] are paralyzed [and can't] do anything [as long as State Senator Marty Golden's] name is in the mix.... [That explains] why they have [suddenly become so silent & invisible]...."

I made a couple of calls and came up with this.... Golden & one of his top political consultants did some informal "polling" that showed somebody was already way ahead of any of the other probable candidates in any contest for the 2017 GOP nomination for City Council. Specifically, some of Mr. G's real insiders have told him that Capano could easily beat Quaglione or McCabe in a GOP primary & then have a real chance for a win the general.

Since NYSSMG knows that he has no control over Capano, given Capano's open campaigning with Eaton & at least some fund raising help from Catsimatidis, Mr. G has concluded any passing of the torch of the Brooklyn GOP to Ted Ghorra would almost immediately be rendered moot if Capano were to become the GOP City Council nominee in 2017.

Somebody else said that the real pros around Marty are saying to him that, after winning re-election in 2016, the only way to certainly block Capano would be to put himself up to run against Eaton's man for the City Council.

The "genius" of this plan is that it leaves Marty Golden with all his options open through July 2017 or >>> possibly even later than that <<< if there is a willingness by the combined leaderships to make a deal to let that happen --- meaning a Golden-Abbate contest for the seat won't ever happen.

  65. The Marty Golden haters on this blog make up so much spit it is hysterical. Polling is expensive. No one from Golden's Office is polling about Capano. Get a grip people I know that much of what is posted on here is made up whole cloth but this one is a doozy. Yes Golden will try to find a way to thwart Capano but leaving the Senate to run for City Council is a stretch though not nearly as big a stretch as someone who still lives on Staten Island (and has for the last five years) announcing that he is running for the City Council in Brooklyn.

  66. RESPONSE: THE "SETTING UP THE STRAW MAN" EDITION

THE OVER-REACTION BY COMMENT MAKER "ANONYMOUS SAID... 1:12 PM" SHOWS SOMEBODY "OVER THERE" GOT CAUGHT OFF-BASE AND IS DISSEMBLING

IF "ANONYMOUS SAID... 1:12 PM" ABOVE INTENDED ANY KIND OF REBUTTAL --- IT WAS A CLASSIC FAIL !!!

IF I WERE CERTAIN THE COMMENT ABOVE WAS FROM GOLDEN OR ONE OF HIS CLOSE PEEPS --- I'D SAY IT WAS PRETTY CLOSE TO A >>> CONFIRMATION <<< OF WHAT I SAID IN MY COMMENT OF JUNE 25, 2016 AT 11:26 PM <<<

Blah, blah, blah --- "Golden haters... make up so much spit it is hysterical. Polling is expensive. No one from Golden's Office is polling about Capapno...."

Quite apart from the fact that the quoted denial by 1:12 PM is very narrowly tailored, I never indicated in my earlier comment above that any kind of expensive formal polling was done by anybody & certainly not somebody "from Golden's Office."

This is what I did write: ”… Golden & one of his top political consultants did some informal ‘polling’ that showed somebody was already way ahead…” --- that was, in substance, what I got from one of my sources --- “informal ‘polling’ ”. What that might actually mean is anybody’s guess…. However, by no stretch does it justify this bit of hyperbole --- “…much of what is posted on here is made up whole cloth but this one is a doozy….”

As for the rest of 1:12 PM's comment that goes like this: “… Yes Golden will try to find a way to thwart Capano but leaving the Senate to run for City Council is a stretch though not nearly as big a stretch as someone who still lives on Staten Island (and has for the last five years) announcing that he is running for the City Council in Brooklyn….” If I were sure that comment maker "Anonymous said... 1:12 PM" were one of Golden’s insiders, I say that was pretty close to a CONFIRMATION of what I wrote about Golden's plans --- especially since NYSSMG doesn’t have to “leav[e] the Senate to run for City Council…”

{Brooklyn, NY} – In response to published reports that Assemblyman Peter Abbate (D) is considering a run for the 43rd City Council district seat (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst) next year when it becomes vacant due to term limits on Vincent Gentile (D), GOP leaders are calling on Abbate to commit to serving his full two-year term if re-elected to the State Assembly this November. There is speculation that his motive is to increase his salary and pension with the higher City Council salary, while also opening the door for term limited Councilman Gentile to run for Abbate's State Assembly seat if he wins the Council race.

Bob Capano, a long-time local Republican leader who manages a business and has been an adjunct political science professor for over a decade stated, "Each semester when I discuss the Constitutional Convention and the Founding Fathers with my students, I talk about how they envisioned a rotation of 'citizen legislators' who would take time away from their private professions and serve their communities in public service for a short period of time and then return to the real world. Being a politician should not be a profession itself. Average citizens who serve in public office allows them to be more in touch with their constituents' real life struggles, and offer fresh ideas. Assemblyman Abbate has been on the taxpayers' dime for 43 years. Career politicians, like Abbate, need to stop playing political musical chairs. They ought to get back in the real world like the rest of us. Assemblyman Abbate should commit to serve his full-term and publicly rule out running for City Council, or be honest with voters about his intentions." Capano, who was born, raised, and educated in Bay Ridge, has served with many Brooklyn civic organizations, including as President of the 68th Precinct Youth Council, which provides over 1,100 children with recreational baseball and soccer programs.

Capano noted that Thomas Jefferson said in 1787, "I dislike, and greatly dislike, the abandonment in every instance of the necessity of rotation in office..."

Vito DiGiovanni, President of the Brooklyn Young Republicans said, "There are career politicians that try to bend the rules or take advantage of certain situations to help themselves get ahead, regardless of who it affects. We need officials who care about their constituents, not about raising their salary." The salary for a NYS Assembly Member is $79,500 and the salary of a NYC Council Member is now $148,500.

Former Brooklyn Republican District Leader of the 47th Assembly District (Besnonshurst-Gravesend) Russell Gallo said, "It is time to stop the political shell game. Voters are sick and tired of political hacks from both parties jumping from one seat to another for their own personal financial gain." Gallo is also a host of Behind Enemy Lines, a national award winning radio show that is part of the Conservative Commandos Radio Network.

Chris Dziedzic, who was Chairman of the New York State Young Republicans stated, "I agree with Bob Capano: our government is best when it is composed of citizen legislators, not life-long, professional politicians. Our founders, going to back to Hamilton, Madison and Jay, knew that a representative government works best when those representatives have worked in the regular economy like their friends and neighbors."

  69. GM you are grasping at straws after being called out for your "polling" gambit. There is no polling and you know it but you are running out of ideas to generate excitement for a candidate who hardly anyone remembers.

Thats great news reported by 952 am that hardly anyone remembers Capano. He can run as a new, outsider candidate that voters are clearly craving for these days!!

  71. Yes indeed. The problem is that living on Staten Island makes him a bit too much of an outsider.

  76. RESPONSE: THE "ONE COULD SAY THAT -- I SUPPOSE" EDITION

TO: "ANONYMOUS SAID... AT 1:55 PM" --- I GUESS THE SHORT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS "YES".....

THIS RELEASE WAS NOT INTENDED TO BE ANY KIND OF WARNING SHOT

When I saw Capano's release, I immediately thought it was a shot across Golden's bow as much as Abbate's.

But a very recent communication between Mr. Capano & me leads me to think that if Capano takes any shots in State Senator Martin Golden's direction, they will be clearly aimed at Golden's head [to avoid any body armor].

In other words -- Bob Capano won't be giving NYSSMG any warning shots before he takes his a kill-shot.....
