Based on yesterday’s release by the “leadership” of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization, it is not clear that any “Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization” endorsed anybody
ALSO THIS: Has Arnaldo Ferraro given up any and all claims to being the GOP County Chairman ?
Is this “Ted Mack’s Original Amateur Hour” ? ? ? — Is this some kind of joke ? ? — Or what ?
Yesterday, an E-mail put out “For Immediate Release” under the purported letterhead of the “FIORELLO LAGUARDIA REPUBLICAN ORGANIZATION” – with a somewhat familiar address [including E-mail address] – proclaimed the following: “Donald Trump Endorsed in Brooklyn.” That headline was followed by this: “The Republican Leadership of the 46 Assembly District – Endorses Donald Trump for President of the United States”; and all of it looked like it came from “The Republican Leadership of the 46 Assembly District [ ]: Hon. Arnaldo A. Ferraro, Former State Assemblyman, Founder and Chairman, Lucretia Regina-Potter and Anthony Bove, Republican District Leaders-46 Assembly District.” A similar item appeared yesterday on the homepage of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization ( by the way, still referring to itself as the >>> 49th A.D. Regular Republican Organization<<< on its homepage) [http://www.laguardiarepublicanclub.org/2016/02/26/donald-trump-endorsed-in-brooklyn/].
So far so good right ? — Not so fast !
THE SMELL TEST
Something doesn’t pass the smell test here.According to the release, dated February 26, 2016, “.... The leadership of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization recently endorsed Donald Trump for President of the United States....”
Really ? Then, when and where was that “recently” done ?
This blog knows several of the executive members of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization and some of them indicated that they knew of no meeting having been called for any endorsement of presidential candidates.
What we do know, based on their quotes, is that three people in the 46th AD – Arnaldo Ferraro, Lucretia Regina-Potter and Anthony Bove – appear to have endorsed Donald Trump; and that’s about it.
BIGGER QUESTIONS THAN THAT
The release raised many more questions than the where and when of the so-called Trump endorsement. For example, as stated above, the release stated that “Donald Trump Endorsed in Brooklyn”; and it contained several references to Arnaldo Ferraro, under various titles, styles and appellations >>> but not one of them was as Chairman of the Kings County Republican Party. Now, I think that is very strange, because it had been widely reported, both here and in other press outlets in Brooklyn, that Mr. Ferraro was lawfully selected to be the Brooklyn GOP Chairman and that he had accepted the job. Has the “Arnaldo Ferraro” in this E-mail given up his claim to being the Brooklyn Republican Chairman, or has he been stripped of the title for some reason? If Arnaldo Ferraro remains the Chairman of the Kings County Republican Party, doesn't that make his direct endorsement of a candidate not endorsed by the Brooklyn GOP a conflict of interest? Also, did Arnaldo consult-with and/or notify the Brooklyn GOP Executive Committee in any way about his intended "personal" endorsement of Donald Trump? (The same issues exist vis a vis Lucretia Regina-Potter, who also was elected to and accepted a County-wide GOP position).
Also, why are these three "leaders" of the so-called LaGuardia Republican Organization in the 46th Assembly District (one of whom is arguably also the Kings County Republican Chairman) rushing into this "endorsement" of Mr. Trump -- all without proper formalities, literally doing it electronically from a closet and in the dead of night.
Based on "THE SMELL TEST" mentioned above, there is more here than meets the eye.....
Gale,
ReplyDeleteFor sure, you are wrong about one thing in your post about the Trump endorsement by Ferraro and the rest. You said there is more here than meets the eye. I don't see anything in this story at all.
What about the rest of the Brooklyn GOP, Gale who are they supporting for president?
ReplyDeleteRESPONSE: THE "I DON'T CARE" EDITION
ReplyDeleteTO: "ANONYMOUS[ES] SAID" "...7:24 AM" & "...7:44 AM"
To the first "not quite insightful" observer/commentator: Get yourself a good pair of glasses; or even more likely useful for you, a seeing-eye dog.....
To the second & more routine inquisitor: I REALLY DON'T KNOW OR CARE ----- But as far as I can tell, the Brooklyn GOP hasn't formally endorsed & doesn't formally support any of the candidates, yet. However, it seems that within the broader Brooklyn Republican Party there are these ghastly geesely gaggles: some are following the Malliotakis lead (you look it up; I think it's the excessive hydration fanatic in the race); others with radio programs and blogs are backing somebody else (this generation's PT Barnum, both in politics & entertainment); and there are many more, who are probably like me, either on the fence or remaining sphinx-like about their preference(s).
Maybe, you found that useful; but, "Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a damn...."
Good for the Laguardia club backing the next president. As anyone who backs let's say Malliotakis's candidate is really just backing Jerry Kassar, and we all know that's a losing campaign.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Arnaldo never mailed that check to his lawyer
ReplyDeleteWhat makes you think it was Arnaldo that was going to pay the lawyer?
ReplyDeleteSounds like the lawyer got stiffed
ReplyDeleteDare I say it?
ReplyDelete"The jig is up..."
Was Arnaldo actually ever the chairman?
ReplyDeleteDr Ferraro was the force behind the downfall of Jeb
ReplyDeleteFor the last thirty years "Doctor" Ferraro has been behind the downfall of one and only one person and it wasn't Bob diCarlo.
ReplyDeleteI was there in 1993 and Arnaldo did beat diCarlo & that was less than 30 yeARS'
ReplyDeleteDr Ferraro beat DiCarlo in 1984.
ReplyDeleteThe dementia patient above might be thinking of Gangemi who beat Dicarlo in 1996.
But then again, you were there. Or so you imagined
Ferraro beat Lou Freda in 84.
ReplyDeleteFerraro beat DiCarlo for District Leader in 93.
Gangemi beat DiCarlo for Senator in 96.
That is all.
OBSERVATION: THE "COMMENT ABOUT COMMENTERS" EDITION
ReplyDeleteRE: "ANONYMOUS SAID..." "9:54..."; "1:03 PM..." & "3:30 PM..."
This exchange or interaction is a teaching moment.....
Everybody can have strong opinions, but such opinions can have a distorting effect on memory; and everybody should be aware that distorted memories are "DISINFORMATION" when we spread them. Unlike what happened above, they aren't always quickly corrected.
Also, look how quickly some people will refocus their attentions to twenty or thirty years ago and away from what is going on in the here and now.
In 1974 it was Dominick DiCarlo that beat Dr Ferraro for State Assembly
ReplyDeleteWill someone please explain what kind of "Dr" Arnaldo is?
ReplyDeleteHe has a PhD in Marinara
ReplyDeleteYour PhD in Marinara has already pissed-off the Trump folks with a bunch of his demands.
ReplyDeleteYes, it included the routine attempted shakedown by your favorite "Doctor".
Is Arnaldo Ferraro the Republican Party Chairman of Brooklyn or isn't he?
